Photos, AppleTV, and shared Album

I'm going mad in trying to understand how the Apple engineers figured out the Photos and iCloud services.
I've just imported my entire Aperture Library into Photos, ok, no problems at all, i have the same project as i used to have in Aperture.
Uploaded on iCloud and updated my iPhone, nice, up to now all went smooth.
Now, let's try to see some pics on the AppleTV after the update of the ATV software..... well, what is that?
There are 2 places where to look at photos? One is the "App" iCloud Photos located in the home page of the ATV, and here i can see in "My Photo Stream" section just 372 pictures of my 12.000+.
Pictures are not organised in any of the project in the Photos App on the mac, is a complete mess.
The second place is inside "Computer"-->"Photos" and is the classic view where i have all the albums messed up and not organized as inside Photos. So, why ATV has not been updated with the new iCloud logic for viewing photos? At the moment the ATV is totally useless....
2) sharing an album is taking AGES and i'm not even able to:
2a) see it on the ATV
2b) delete the sharing. Should i delete the entire album???
3) with Photos is no more possibile to add GPS tag to the pictures.... , and this is "progress" for Apple?!?
4) After the update of the ATV software is no more possible to play a slideshow of an album listening a soundtrack in the background.
I need help in understanding what i can do to sort out such these problems.....
Thanks

Correct, they need to be synced
Is it because I'm streaming and not syncing that I can't show "my" photos? If so, can I first sync to establish a library of "my" photos, then switch to streaming without losing the sync'd photos? (I suspect not).
Sorry if its a dumb question. Thanks for help.
Just set up a custom sync and only select only photos to sync - i.e. don't sync movies or tv shows etc, they will stream just the same.
The sync library (assuming tat's how it's set up) streams anything bot synced.

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

• How to remove pictures from the photo libary and mobile Albums

Can anyone help me??? How do I delete photos from the Photo Library and Mobile Albums???

CORRECTION. After going to settings, select Photos & Camera. Then select "My Photo Stream". Change My Photo Stream to the "OFF" position. This will delete all the pictures in your picture frame stream, so make sure you want to delete them.

• Can't see the photos in a shared album

I have iPhone 6.
I am an member of a shared album, but i can't see any of the photos.
How do i fix this?

The folder the internal images are stored in does the folder start with a dot as this will render the folder hidden and immune from scanning

• Can't add photos to a shared album in Photos

I created a shared album in Photos with 59 photos. Only 15 were uploaded to the album and when I try to add the others, nothing happens. I highlight them, click "add" and.... nothing.

If it's a new Library then File -> Import would be the way to get things into it.

• IOS 8 Photos: Hide and Hidden Album

I think is must be missing the point of the "hide" option and "Hidden" album in iOS 8 Photos app. More specifically, it would make sense to me if, viewing the "Hidden" folder we're password protected. As it is now though, best I can tell, all it seems to do is move the photo to an album called "Hidden" that anybody can still view.
To clarify, I'm only speaking strictly in terms of how it shows up on the iPhone itself. Maybe it has effects upon other considerations, like whether or not it gets backed up to icloud?
But as far as th presentation on the iPhone, it doesn't seem to do any real hiding, as far as I can tell.
Presumably I'm missing something?

This is such a cluster-f*ck. I was stunned when I found the change to iOS 8 brought this mixed up order of my events from my iMac's iPhoto. Having them in Events by month/year was the only way I could keep a reasonable handle on where everything is. This is completely unacceptable from Apple.
Then again, it seems from what I read around the Internet, those of us using iPhoto as our managing software AND using it to sync pics to our i-devices are a clear and dwindling minority. Maybe Apple just didn't think it important enough to bother, but they need to fix this.
What would have been completely helpful and awesome with iOS 8 would be the importing of keywords (and descriptions, but at least keywords) for those of us syncing from iPhoto. I can understand why Apple wouldn't have done so years ago (memory onboard our i-devices), but today there's no reason for this. Those tiny, tiny bits of data should come over with the photos to make them searchable by keyword. I'd care less about the Events being out of order if I could search by keyword on my iPhone or iPad.
Come on Apple... we have enough storage space to make this happen.

• Photo Stream: are shared album pics on my ipad hard drive???

My son has shared many pics in albums with ms using Photo Stream.
Are these pics on my iPads hard drive?? Taking up space?
thx

It's been a while since your post, but if you haven't gotten the issue fixed, you could try a restore from within itunes on your computer. This will replace the OS on the ipad and since the photo app is included in that, it may fix your problem.

• Difference between "my" (music, photos, etc) and "shared" (music, etc).

I stream from iTunes, not sync.
I'd like to set the preferences so that the screen saver utilizes MY photos, not the Apple generic photos. When I try to change the setting, however, it says I have no "my photos". When I go to the photo tab, I see that that is true - my photos is empty. However, SHARED photos have all the photos I've designated for sharing. Obviously the same scenario is true for music. I guess I cannot use shared photos in the screen saver?
Is it because I'm streaming and not syncing that I can't show "my" photos? If so, can I first sync to establish a library of "my" photos, then switch to streaming without losing the sync'd photos? (I suspect not).

Hello JimS19,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your iPad. If you are having issues accessing your Shared Albums from your iPad (but not from your other devices), you may want to double-check your iCloud Photo Sharing configuration as outlined in the following articles, just to make sure it hasn't changed:

• IPhone Photo Library and Album photos to iPhoto

Hello:
I am trying to import the photos on my iPhone to iPhoto. The photos from my Camera Roll will import, but the 2,000 or so photos I have in Photo Library and in my other Albums will not import. How can I transport my Photo Library and other albums on my iPhone to my Camera Roll? Or, how can I get all of them to upload to iPhoto? My end goal is to get them into iPhoto, but if I can get them in the Camera Roll, then that will work.

At least you have that, although as Allan stated, you can never recover the original full-resolution pics from the iPhone (they were optimized to ~0.6 megapixel images, although that may be higher now with iPhone 4's higher-res display).
Still, an external HDD is what you need. Personally, I have two of them, backed up to each at least weekly, and the two drives are stored in different locations (home and offsite). Every 2 months, I also backup pictures and movies to DVD -DL media and store that in a safe deposit box. Even then, a natural disaster affecting my whole area could theoretically wipe destroy it all - so, likely I'll add Mozy soon...
Overkill? Maybe. But my daughter is only going to grow up once, so I'm not going to risk losing the digital memories of these times...

• Ios - 8 where are the 'camera roll' and 'photostream' albums?

I see the ios8 had done away with the "camera roll" and "photostream" albums and replace them with a "recently added" album. Is there any way to get this old functionality back?
All I want is one folder that contains all the photos on my device and another that contains the photos that I'm happy to share across my devices. I would have hoped I could have create some smart albums, but albums seem to have to be curated manually.
I know I can see all my photos with the photos tab, but there are two issue I have with this, #1 the "collections" interface is horrible – I just want a nice grid of photos like in albums – and #2 my photostream photos are merge within them.
I now have no way of telling if I'm deleting a photo from the phone or the photostream, for example when I'm trying to free up space on the phone.
Would turning on the "icloud photo library" feature help? I would rather not use that as I don't want it to waste all my icloud space.

So, basically now... the gallaries are gonna be the same. Because if you delete one photo from the iphone, you also delete it from ipad and viceversa.
This is stupid because i want to keep some photos on the ipad, but don't wanna have them on the phone.
AM I FORCED TO HAVE IPAD AND IPHONE WITH THE SAME PHOTOS???
what's the point in this???
This is so stupid. if you find any solution, please help.
PS: I have not activated the icloud drive yet.
You have regular albums and shared album.
As long as you do not enable iCloud Photo Library Beta, your photos are stored only on the iPad, unless you add them to a shared album.
When you create an album in the "Albums" tab, with "tap , enter a name, then tap Save. Select photos and videos to add to the album, then tap Done", this album is local on the iPad or iPhone.
Only "Shared" albums are stored on all devices,
When you delete photos from the photo stream, the deleted photos are removed from My Photo Stream on all your devices, but the original photos remain in Photos on the device on which they were originally taken. Photos that you save to another album on a device or computer are also not deleted.

• Shared Album

I am using the new photos app for Mac.
For now, I am not planning to use the iCloud photo library to upload and share all of my photos.
Still, I would like to share certain albums.
What are the limitations on shared albums?
1. Do they work at all w/o enabling iCloud photo library?
2. For how long are they valid, i.e. can I share them forever?
3. Any restrictions size or number wise?
4. DO they count against my iCloud storage?
Thanks!
Frederic

Shared Albums are totally different from the iCloud Photo Library. They reside on different servers and separate entities. The Shared Albums do not count against your iCloud storage space.
Therefore, the photos in a shared album must be uploaded specifically for that album.
