Photos are blurry

When I add a picture to the browser of Final Cut it looks crystal clear in the viewer, but when I add the photo to the timeline it looks really blury in the canvas, and when I burn to a DVD it still looks blury. How come it doesn't look like whats in the viewer. I have posted this question a couple of times, but I have not recieved any answers that work. If any one can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks ZKP

The answer is long. Take a look at page 337 in the manual. Still images are covered over about 4 to 5 pages or so. Here's where to start:
If a Still Image Appears Fuzzy on Export
Standard definition video is almost always interlaced, so still images created from
standard definition video are interlaced, too. A single frame of interlaced video
consists of two fields that were originally captured at different moments in time. If
there is a lot of motion in the video content of a frame (such as a ball quickly moving
past the camera), the two fields contain very different visual information. When the
entire frame is displayed, objects in motion have a comblike appearance because the
object appears in two places at once.
During normal video playback, interlacing is usually not very noticeable because the
fields are scanned so quickly. However, on still images, interlacing artifacts cause
some still images to flicker or strobe on an interlaced display (such as an NTSC or PAL
monitor). To eliminate interlacing artifacts, you can apply a deinterlacing filter in
Final Cut Pro before you export a still image. (A deinterlacing filter simply removes
half the lines and interpolates the missing lines by using the remaining lines.) You can
also export the image without applying the filter, and then apply a deinterlacing filter
in a separate graphics application.
Important: Final Cut Pro often displays the Viewer and Canvas deinterlaced to make
the image clearer while you are editing. To make sure you catch any potential
interlacing artifacts in still images, always watch your video on a monitor that
matches your final screening format. For example, if you plan to output your movie to
an NTSC video format, you should monitor your sequence on an external NTSC
monitor. For more information about external monitoring, see Volume I, Chapter 16,
“External Video Monitoring.”

  • Recently backed up iphone and half of the photos are blurry/disappear

I just recently backed up my iphone after receiving a new handset, now half of the photos are blurry and when selected appear for about 2 seconds before disappearing into white. They still appear on the camera roll.
I've restored and backed up twice, tried sending photos to myself, getting them online, and nothing has worked.
Any idea if this can be fixed?
It seems like the files are corrupt but I have no idea why considering there was no warning when I backed up the old phone/transferred the data to this new one.

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Post back with the result.

  • Photos are blurry after import

I just downloaded Aperture.  All photos have been imported from iPhoto and looked fine.  I closed Aperture, re-opened and now the photos are blurry (the thumbnails are clear).  I can't make photo adjustments because it says offline.  What am I doing wrong here?  Why did it work prior to closing and re-opening the program?

How did you import from iPhoto?
The correct way would be as outlined here:
    http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/#chapter=4%26section=10
Also check to see what your Preview size and quality are set to in Aperture Preferences (using Quality '8' and the resolution of your monitor - marked with an asterisk - should work well).

  • When I send a newsletter as a pdf the photos are blurry.

When I send my newsletter made with Pages as a pdf the photos all look very blurry. I tried larger size files and same problem. I sent the original template with the Apple default photos and they are blurry as well. I've only looked at them on our two computers, both Macs. I size my photos no larger than 800 pixels on the longest side @72dpi. I have received a pdf newsletter made with Pages from someone else, and the photos look fine.

Are you using the shadow tool in your document ?

  • Half my photos are blurry

Half of the pictures I take with my Lumia 520 are blurry. The problem is exactly like what is described here: http://forums.windowscentral.com/nokia-lumia-920/243124-half-my-photos-blurry.html I can take two pictures in a row, and if I'm lucky, one will be in focus, bu the other one won't. I don't have a focus beam to turn off. This happens in well lit outdoor locations as well as indoors.
    What should I do?

  • My new iPad photos are blurry after import

After I import new photos into my new iPad 3, all the photos are low res, blurry, and somewhat pixelated. All the images are coming from iPhoto and a very very high resolution JPEGs. Is there a setting off somewhere? Thank you!

Two options - Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way.] It is absolutely/appsolutely safe!
If this does not sort it deselect the photos and do a sync, then reselect them and do another sync!

  • Photos are blurry after upgrade to 9.4.2.,

I recently installed the latest iPhoto upgrade and the quality of my photos is considerably worse. They are blurry or fuzzy around the edges - didn't used to be the case. Is there a way I can fix this?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I have the same problem: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20299498#20299498
Do you share your library with Aperture?? If I get information I will post you....

  • When importing photos from aperture photos are blurry

I have been making a video and up to now no problems. Then today i was working on it and when i started adding some more photos from aperture they were fuzzy and blurry.
In aperture they are crisp and clear but the minute i put them in imovie they are blurry and not useable.
I have imported photos from aperture and iphoto both and had no issues so not sure what is going on today.

I think I just figured this out.
Go into Aperture preferences and go to "previews" tab.  Set "photo preview" to "don't limit" and turn the quality all the way up.  Then select all your photos, go to the "photos" menu, hold down the option key and click "generate previews".
It appears that the library sharing is just using the generated previews from Aperture which default to poor quality.  You need to turn up the quality and then force a re-render of all your previews.  iMovie should pick this up (but won't update your slideshow...).
Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed by those defaults.   Wasted hours of my time as I rebuilt the slideshow with better versions of my photos.
    Hope that helped.

  • Photos are blurry after editing

Some of my pics are blurry after I edit them in Lr.  I need advice, please:(

We'd probably need to see a screen capture of the blurry photo in order to advise further.
Were the photos blurry before you did the Lightroom edit?

  • Still jpg photos are blurry in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4

    Hi everyone,
Please help!  I am somewhat new to Adobe Premiere Pro and have been pretty much self-taught.  I recently put together a wedding video for a friend and added in some still images.  For the life of me, I cannot figure out why when I export the video, the images come up blurry.  I've tried everything--deinterlace, do a frame hold on each of the pictures (on the in point), etc.  I would really appreciate any advice about this--maybe I'm missing something obvious?  I've attached a screen shot of what a typical image looks like once I've exported the video.  Thanks in advance!
    -E

    Hi -E,
From your last post, it sounds like you have a solution with the different output selection, but if you are still curious, I'm confused by your quoted settings.
<<Export Settings: Video Codec is set to Animation, 29.97 fps, NO optimize stills, 720 x 477 (same as video input size)
Video Footage: Sony Camera, MiniDV tapes, Widescreen SD>>
MiniDV tapes implies that your video is in SD format, 720x480 (which is sort of implied in your Export settings).
Widescreen SD implies that you are aiming to get the output to SD in a 16:9 format, 854x480
Your posted photos look stretched and if you are happy with the video, then I suggest that CS4 is converting the video to Widescreen without distortion and stretching your photos to Widescreen without converting them (i.e. keeping the same number of pixels and just stretching them to the new size).  If you want to try another experiment, either crop or convert your photos before importing them to CS4 so that they are  854x480 and then just produce your video the way that you were doing when your troubles started.
I had HDV video, which comes in at 1440x1080.  To add photos, I cropped my hi res photos to 3840x2160 ( i.e. 2 times 1920x1080), resized the result 50% to 1920x1080 and then imported them.  In Encore I requested SD output (720x480) and the result was undistorted.  So CS4 was happy to rescale the video differently to the stills.  This experience is why I suggest using Widescreen aspect ratio for the photos.   Like you I am self taught and for myself, not good at absorbing the info in the manuals.  Another video software suite I used to use would also exibit Pixel Aspect Ratio problems.  If you took a frame of video and exported it as a still, then reimported it, the result would be blurry.  It turned out that sure enough, it would export the picture as a crisp 720x480 image, and because of the pixel aspect ratio of standard DV being 0.9091, it needed 720x534 for stills being imported. If I took the ouput stretched it to 534 and re-inserted it, you could not distinguish the video from the still.  A royal pain at the time.
Anyway enough rambling.  Worth a try if your new found si=olution gets you  out of a jam but you aren't yet trully happy.
    Cheers, Ian

  • IPhone photos are blurry after OS4 update

I managed to download and update my 3G to OS4 and everything seems to be working fine. One issue I've noticed is that all of the photos that I imported via iTunes from other sources are now blurry or very low resolution. The photos taken with the iPhone itself remain sharp. What is the solution? I'm thinking about deleting them all and replacing them with fresh copies from my computer and then performing a re-sync. Has any one else noticed this problem?

Just remove from the phone and resync. Should be fine afterwards.

  • Photos in slideshows are blurry:

Please help me out!  Every time I make a slideshow using my photos and play it back, as well as when I put the slideshow on a CD, the photos are blurry!!!  My camera is a digital Nikon D40X and I have tried all different kinds of settings, but nothing works!   I paid a lot of money for this program, and I have hundreds of beautiful photos that I want to put in slideshows and it is not working!!!   This is the main reason I bought photoshop elements 10, and if this doesn't work, I have wasted my money!!!

I get great results especially playing DVD’s of my photos on the TV.
I admit you need the combo PSE/PRE for best quality and best output options.

  • Emailing screenshots from new iPad are blurry?

Take a screenshot (power and menu button at same time) then email it to yourself from Photos. Photos are blurry???
Sending an older screenshot from my iPad2 is fine. I did find that if you select edit and open the picture in iPhoto and send from there it's okay.

Found out was the issue was. I was never getting the pop up with the image size to select (S,M,L, Actual) to send and never noticed the Images text on the right side of the cc: line to select the image size. Mine was set to low, explaining the fuzzy resolution. Setting to Actual size the image came out fine.
