PHotos are displayed as apple icons in library view.

When i open I photo, about the first 1500 pictures in my library are replaced by pictures of random icons and buttons from other mac programs. but when i click on the icon pictures to go into edit view, they come up as the pictures that are supposed to be there. Anyone have an idea?
Thanks

Sounds like a dodgy cache file: Try rebuilding the database. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys and launch iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose the top three options.

You are not speaking to Apple here. So none of us can "fix it."
TRy try quitting the Photos app followed by a reset of the ipad. To quit an app double click the Home button to reveal the row of recently used apps. Flick up on the page preview and it will fly away and disappear. That quits the app. Then Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

My iphone screen has turned black, phone is still on as screen shots can be taken. When home button and power button are held - no apple icon will appear. Please help??

If this iPhone has had the screen replaced previously, possibly LCD Display connector has simply come loose from the Logic Board. Possibly the LCD Display is faulty and the front screen assembly needs to be replaced. If you have Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send to Apple. This is handled by Apple with Replacement iPhone 4S.

  • HT201263 After updating to the ios6 my ipod was going on and off displaying the apple icon and then had a white screen that had multi colors on it. Then it had a blue screen.plz help me

I was updating my iPod touch 4g to the ios6 and it told me to hook it up to the iTunes and so I did. After doing that the computer told me to restore I tried and it didn't work. My ipod then was Turing on and off displaying the apple icon then my screen turned white with rainbow colors going down the screen then at some point my ipod had a multi colored blue screen. The screen was no longer blue after I let it die. Plz help I can't find any solutions.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

All of my photos are displayed as BW because somehow I've saved a quick develop preset and it saves as BW.  This is for all of my photos.  I can individually undo them but need help in how to get rid of the preset so all photos goes to Default or as shot. thanks

Go to the develop module and highlight all of the images in the filmstrip at the bottom of the screen. Then activate Auto-sync and click on the Reset button. That should reset all of the images to your camera default settings.

  • ICloud photos are available on Apple TV and iPhone but only some are showing up on my PC.

My iCloud photos are available on Apple TV and iPhone but only habout half of them show up on my laptop (windoes 8). On my old laptop I could view all photos and download etc. I tried to trouble shoot using advice here but not I can't see any of them on my laptop.

I have the same problem. One-time events are showing up everywhere, but repeating events (the majority of my schedule!) are not showing up on icloud (they do show up on my computer at home and on my iphone...)

  • Photos are displayed in different Order on iPhone, iPad and fotostream. Who knows the algoritm of ordering

Apple support can reproduce the Problem. 10 pictures are displayed in Differenz Order. But Nonne can explanier the algoritm of ordering. Its Not timebased,

On iOS 5 (if viewing individual photo albums on the iPad) the photo sorting order should be by filename, on iOS 4 it's date taken (from here) :
iOS 4 sorts photos by the Date Taken tag of the photos. Specifically, your device uses the pictures' EXIF tags to determine the Date Taken information. Your device will look for the following EXIF tags within your pictures:
    Capture Date
    Date Time Digitized
    Date Time Original
    Last Modified
So you will need to change their names or their dates

  • Photos not displaying at all in iPhoto library

I can't get my photos to display in my iphoto library even though they are accessible for editing. The help topics didn't solve the problem. What can I do? I recently imported them from my macbook, but this iMac is new, so I'm a novice.

  • Why is my photo storage full but no photos are displayed?

I just deleted all photos manually from my iPad mini and then unsynced my photo libraries in iTunes but for some reason, under Settings->Usage->Photos and Camera, it states that there is still 3.3 GB of photos in my Photo Library. Does anyone know why my iPad mini is stating this and if so, how do I completely delete photos from my Photo Library?

Go into photos, choose "albums", then "recently deleted".  Touch "select", then "delete all". Deleted Photos are kept in this folder for 30 days unless you manually delete them.

  • My ipod touch 5 displays the apple icon, then it just turns black. Any ways to help me?

My ipod touch 5 is a year old, and was working perfectly fine today, then I found that it was shut off and I did the usual (hold the button on top till the apple icon shows up) and it satyed there longer than usual and then just turned off. How can I fix this?? Thanks.

Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke.  If it has not been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • How do I Maintain the Order Photos Are Displayed When Burning a DVD

I have created an album from several different events. I want to burn this album to a DVD for a presentation. When I do this, the photos are reorganized and displayed by date/time and separated into two different groups. How can I burn a DVD that maintains the order of photos in the album?
    Thanks,
    Peter

Yay!  I finally found out how to keep the photos in your albums in the correct order when you export the album! I am fortunate to have AppleCare so I decided to call them after trying to figure this out for years.
The fellow on the phone said he'd had others call about this and that he and a caller figured it out, trial and error. I suggested they add it to the user guide for the rest of us!
    Here you go:
    1. Select your album and all the photos in it.
    2. Go to Export under File
    3. Change File Name option to Sequential
    4. Where it says "Prefix for Sequential" type in the exact name of your album.
That's it! When you hit Export, the photos stay in perfect order! Yay!

  • S it best to down res photos to display on apple tv?

I would like to display a folder of images on my tv via my apple tv. Currently these images are between 4 and 8mb each - so way oversized for the HD display. Does anyone know whether it makes sense to create a shared folder with more appropriately sized images so the Apple tv doesn't have to down res? Or does the Apple TV create it's own onboard cache of the down res'd images?

If the photos you take are exclusively for viewing on your widescreen TV (or on your widescreen computer screen), rather than in printed form, it may be worth considering setting your camera to take in 16:9 format.
This way, your photos fill the screen. One thing to be wary of though, is if you then take photos in Portrait (using 16:9) they are even worse than if you had used 3:2 - ie they are even taller and skinnier on the screen.
I've seen the odd post here that some people take in 3:2, then duplicate their shots, and crop the duplicate with a 16:9 constrain for use with ATV on the widescreen.

  • Best option for photos to display on Apple tv

Hey guys, we have an Apple TV hooked up via HDMI to a plasma Tv. I'd like to display some photos on the TV that I'm planning to take on the near future. I currently have a 7 megapixel digital canon camera. (A compact powershot model). Would I see any benefit in using a camera with a higher megapixel count? I'm not really sure as to what resolution would be best. Does a 7 megapixel camera max out the capabilities of the TV, or would I be able to get better pictures to display using a better cmera?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

  • Photo Stream displays grey jpg icon on iPad

I have iMac, MBA, iPhone (4), and iPad (1). Photo Stream seems to be working as advertized, except on my iPad. When looking on iPad, in the Photo Stream tab, I see grey icons with  a camera image, and "JPG".
If I turn off photo stream, and turn it back on, it loads the photos down. I'm not sure what happens to return it to the grey icons.
    Any suggestions?

    I had the same issue,
Mine was with sync'ed photos,  not Photo Stream,
I opened the iPhoto Library Package and removed the iPod Photo Cache.    Then resync'ed and everything started working great!
