Photos are sometimes hazy

Sometimes my photos are coming out hazy or foggy. This is occurring my and my wife's 4. I also notice that if I hold my wife's 4 and my 4 side by side, the image on one viewfinder will appear darker than the other.
I don't know what to make of the haziness. I can reshoot the photo in the same setting and it will be rich in color.

to be honest these are the solutions that may or may not work..
first thing I would try is rebooting the phone by holding the sleep/wake button and home button for 15 seconds until you see the white apple logo
if that doesn't work I would restore from backup and if that doesn't work I would restore as new if all else fails take it to your closest apple store they may replace the phone for a working one..

You need to clarify your statement/question a little bit more. What device are using to take the photo? I assume that you are using your iPad, but I don't know that for a fact because you simply say "whenever I take a picture". I also assume that you are using the built in mail app and not a third party mail app, but can't say for sure about that either without more details from you.
When I take a photo with the iPad, if I attach/insert a photo in an email directly in the mail app, the photo defaults to the actual size, which is the highest resolution that it can be. The size of the photo can be made smaller, but it defaults to the largest size.

  • I had all my photos neatly in events on the MAC; with this new upgrade, all photos are renamed by location not what I want; how do I change this back?

    MAC; OS X Yosemite 10.10.3.
All my photos on the MAC were in events named by me.
Now, with this upgrade, all my photos are without my event names and named by iphoto by date and location (sometimes incorrect). I do not like this at all. I want to return to my events. How can I do this??

Moments in Photos are the new Events, i.e. groupings of photos sorted by date taken.
When the iPhoto Library was first migrated to Photos there was a folder created in the sidebar titled iPhoto Events and all migrated iPhoto Events (which are now Moments) are represented by an album in that folder. To open the sidebar if it's not already open use the Option+Command+S key combination.
There's a way to simulate events in Photos.
When new photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File ➙ New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N.  Name it as desired.  It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the iPhoto Events folder
When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window.
The downside to the simulation is that the Albums/Events can only be sorted automatically by Title. But they can also be sorted manually, either in the sidebar or in the folder's window at the right.
Ask Apple for more sorting options in Photos via https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html.

  • Yellow/green lines through Photos and sometimes on color headlines

Hi All.  Would like to know if anyone out there knows how to fix my problem.  I have an HP OfficeJet 8500 all in one printer/scanner/fax.  I do newsletters for a non profit org with photos and colored headlines.  I am now getting a yellow-light green line through all photos and sometimes headlines.  Mostly in the headlines its the underline..instead of being maroon which its supposed to be, its yellow/green.  On the same page that a photo is on, the text box next to it is fine!  I have done all the printer alignment, cleaning printhead, etc.  These printheads are new.  Only installed them about a month ago and haven't done that much printing.  If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it.  I need to do a newsletter and now I have two printers that aren't working!
    HELP!  Thanks so much.  Pat

I think I found the answer to my own problem.  Maybe it can help someone later.  Since I figured this might be a print head problem and I had just installed new print heads, I thought maybe one of them might be clogged.  So, I put the print head into a ziploc bag and shook it a few times.  I only do one at a time because it sprays ink.  I then got another bag and put the other print head into it and shook it.  Replaced them back into the printer and it worked!!!  My yellow green lines are gone and now it works fine.  I had purchased these print heads on E-Bay about a year ago and had them here just in case I needed them.  Not sure if that had anything to do with it, but, maybe from sitting so long, they clogged.  Just a guess.  But, this worked and if anyone else has this problem, its worth a try.

  • Best way to configure Photoshop workflow settings when source photos are shot in AdobeRGB, edited using a wide gamut display, and output to sRGB?

Being able to quickly produce finished photos is of importance with the majority of my photography work. Therefore I shoot, process, and deliver JPEG files. For this time sensitive workflow there is no benefit to my clients by my shooting RAW. I do want to be able to accommodate any possible future uses of the photos, so I shoot using the Adobe RGB color space. The output for my clients are JPEG images for use on the Web, therefore sRGB. I currently used a wide gamut display (NEC PA302W) with a 24-bit graphics card. (I plan on upgrading to a 30-bit card sometime in the future.)
I've noticed that in Internet Explorer the reds in my finished photos are overly intense on my display. My photos look fine in other web browsers on my display. This situation has me concerned as I do not know exactly why it is happening since my photos have the sRBG color profile embedded and IE supports embedded color profiles. If anything, I would think the reds would be overly intense in other applications that do not support embedded color profiles.
Please let me know if my workflow can be improved, outside of shooting RAW and using a 30-bit display:
Shoot JPEG photos in Adobe RBG color space
Edit photos in Photoshop using wide gamut display, 24-bit
Color Settings: Monitor Color (Monitor RGB -  PA302W, calibrated)
Save for Web, JPEG, Embed Color Profile, Convert to sRGB
While working in Photoshop the reds appear fine. When saving for the Web and previewing 'Monitor Color' the reds are intense, when previewing 'Internet Standard RGB (No Color Management)' the reds appear fine. The final saved images look fine with the exception of when displayed in IE, which supports embedded color profiles- Color Management.

You're rapidly making a mess out of this. Stop, sit back, and stop thinking there's a "problem" to "fix". There isn't - you just need to use software that is color managed. That disqualifies IE right off. Stop using it, throw it away. It's useless with wide gamut displays. Use Firefox, which has proper color management.
OK. Save For Web in sRGB, embed profile. So far so good. But:
Don't ! set your working space to Monitor Color!. That turns off display color management which is the very last thing you want with a wide gamut monitor. You could sort of get away with that with a standard gamut monitor, because it's not all that different from sRGB anyway. So you wouldn't notice the difference (but it's there). The fact that your Adobe RGB files look right in Photoshop is purely coincidental. Any other profile will look wrong.
With a wide gamut display you absolutely and unconditionally need a fully color managed pipeline. That means 1. an embedded document profile, 2. a valid display profile (Spectraview or other calibrator), and 3. an application that reads both profiles and does the conversion from one to the other as the image is sent to the display.
See, it's not just the document profile. That's half of it. The other half is the display profile. IE doesn't use the display profile, instead substituting sRGB. And that's very wrong with that monitor. Firefox is fully color managed if there is an embedded document profile. But it can be configured to color manage even if the image is untagged (and a lot of material on the web is untagged). It does this by assigning sRGB to the image.
To configure this - and you really need that with a wide gamut monitor - type "about:config" without the quotes in the address bar and hit reload. Scroll down to gfx.color_management.mode, and change it from 2 to 1. Relaunch. All web material will now appear correctly regardless.

  • HT4859 How do I retrieve my photos from the cloud after a reset. My photos are gone from my phone, and I backed them up on iCloud?

How do I retrieve my photos from the cloud after a reset. My photos are gone from my phone, and I backed them up on iCloud? when I restored it, no camera roll pictures?

Try restoring the backup again.  Sometimes it's successful the second time.  You could also try restoring an older backup.  iCloud will have your last 3 backups is you have sufficient storage space in your account.

  • Moving to an external Ethernet Drive - Libraries and Photos are a mess - Cant Find Images

I am in the process of wanrting to consolidate my LR3 files to an 2TB external ethernet drive (connected via airport extreme).  First, are there any issue with using the networked drive.  I've heard that there may be.
Second, my libraries and photos are all over the place.  I cant seem to find the proper catalgues and sometimes files go missing or offline.  So, duringn this move to the new 2TB drive, I want to use this opportunity to find and move all the LR3 "stuff" i can and make the workflow better organized.
How can I simply do that???
    Thanks!

First, let me suggest that there are two issues here ... Storage (exactly where your photos and catalog file are located) and organization (how do you find/search for the photo(s) of interest. These are different issues.
    First ... storage:
You can move your photos and catalog file anywhere to meet your storage needs. You move the catalog file simply by moving it in Windows or Mac Finder to the internal HD (or any other non-network drive). Recommended: put the catalog file on your fastest hard disk. Recommended: move the previews (that are located in subfolders where the catalog is) along with the catalog file. Once moved, you open it by double-clicking on it.
You can move your photos anywhere you want them to be, including a network drive. Although I recommend you move them in Lightroom so as to not break the links, you can also move the folders outside of Lightroom and then reconnect (in the folder panel, right-click on a folder and select "Update Folder Location").
Now, you have your files whereever you want them to be. They are stored properly. It makes sense to consolidate your photos on a single drive if possible, and it makes sense to set things up for ease of backup (i.e. all photos in subfolders under a single parent folder) but other storage schemes are fine if they meet your needs.
    Next ... Organization
This is how you set things up so that you can find a specific photo(s) quickly. I strongly recommend that this be done in Lightroom, using keywords, metadata and collections. I strongly dis-recommend that you do this by moving this folder to that location or folder hierarchy to help you be able to find things. I strongly dis-recommend that you do this by renaming photos or folders. Leave them whereever they are (after you have met your storage needs above), and organize via keywords. Assign keywords and metadata religiously to your photos. Keywords give you much more organizational power than folders, because you can have many many keyworkds assigned to a photo, but a photo can be in only a single folder.
I strongly recommend consolidating things into a single catalog. This will enable you to search for any photo, because you have one catalog. If you have multiple catalogs, and catalog A is open, you cannot search for a photo in catalog B.
Once all of this is complete, your photos are where you want them (storage) on your networked drive, your catalog (singular, not plural) is on your fastest disk (storage) and your photos are completely well organized in Lightroom, enabling you to search for them quickly, using the Lightroom filter bar, the keyword panel, or smart collections.

  • IPhoto 6 Hangs When "Recovered Photos" Are Opened

iPhoto 6 "recovered" 300+ photos when I updated from iPhoto 5. I can still see the recovered photos in both my library and albums, but if I double-click on the photos, iPhoto 6 hangs with a spinning ball icon requiring a Force Quit to recover. I can open the photos in the "Recovered Photos" album, but I'm not sure how to get them back into my library and other albums. Has anyone been able to do this?
    Thanks, Will
    G5, 2 GHz, Dual Processors   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

When upgrading to iPhoto 6, the 'recovered photos' it finds are stored as follows:
a if you opt to import the photos when iPhoto asks, they are left where iPhoto found them (or lost them, depending on how you view it...) in the 'year' folder system, within the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder; e.g. 2005>12>15>photo.jpg, 2003>10>05>photo2.jpg etc. Within iPhoto itself the photos are grouped in one new roll, and an album is created in the Source list called "Recovered Photos".
b if you opt not to import the photos, they are moved from the 'year' folder system in the Finder into one folder within the iPhoto Library folder, entitled "Recovered Photos". The 'year' folders can be deleted, if they are still there - you should find that they are empty and they are not used by iPhoto 6.
In Case b you can move the "Recovered Photos" folder to anywhere you like, e.g the Desktop, as the photos are no longer associated with iPhoto. In fact, if you decide you need to import some or all of the photos back into iPhoto, you will have to move the RP folder to another location as iPhoto will disallow any import from within the iPhoto Library folder.
Take care either way; in my case I had 1014 recovered photos, which included all of the following:
a originals of some of my photos, the edited versions were still in iPhoto
b random duplicates of original photos
c photos, both original and edited versions, which I had deleted long ago - sometimes as long as 2-3 years, many versions of iPhoto ago!
When I have chance soon I intend to document my own personal recovery procedure / experience, in case it helps anyone else when upgrading. In the meantime, feel free to ask if you have any questions...

  • How many photos are too many photos for iPhoto? When do I need to upgrade to Aperture?

How many photos are too many photos for iPhoto? When do I need to updgrade to Aperture?

Hi Terrence,  this is what happens, all too often when I click on something, sometimes it takes me 5 more clicks on the mouse while moving the cursor around to get rid of it. The one below popped up as I clicked on my junk mail.
The next one popped up when I was trying to get on to a site. This happens all the time. Don't know why it is happening. It happens on iPhoto, Aperture, everywhere I go, FaceBook...everywhere and at any time. So frustrating. I don't know if this is normal, but this was happening just before my last mac died a year ago.

  • Photos are Corruped when viewing on iPad

Everytime I try to sync photos some photos are good... some photos are bad. they have horizontal bars through them. I have no idea what the issue is.
    Hardware software? desktop issue?
    Any thoughts?
Also, I have removed all the photos but it states that I have on photo on here through itunes.. man.. so frustrating.. any ideas?

so an update to this situation:
I took it back to the apple store and they exchanged it out for me, but after syncing my photos again its doing the exact same thing.
When i say corrupted what i mean is that there are horizontal bars going to the picture making it look "out of sync". Sometimes the full picture does even render. Funny thing is that on the thumbnails though it looks perfectly fine.
I was thinking it was the original file, but this "corruption" is random. I've synced the same folder multiple times and its corrupted outcome is usually different everytime. Ive tried other folders a number of times as well. Sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes it doesnt. (thus i can deduce that its not a specific file thats making it go "corrupt")
I think it has to do with the optimization process, (maybe my computer is too slow?) but who knows.
I synced about 100 pics, and id say at least 15 of them are "corrupted"
Any ideas or suggestions? (i think its software based)
    Thanks!

  • My photos are not transferring over from iCloud

My photos are not transferring over from iCloud.I have put my device back to factory settings and still they will not transfer over. The only device all my photos are still on is my iPhone.

If it appears to not be making any progress even though you have a strong wifi signal, sometimes turning the phone off, then back on will get things going again.  Otherwise about all you can do is try restoring the backup again.  If you still have the old phone, you could also try creating an iTunes backup, then restoring that backup to your new phone.

  • Screensaver Photos are sideways!

    Hey Everybody,
I have what I hope is a "for amateurs" question with a simple answer. I have my screensaver set up to show pics from the "pictures" folder. The problem is that the pictures that were taken with the camera in a vertical position come up sideways instead of vertical. If you just open the pictures folder and open a photo taken in the vertical positon, the jpg previewer correctly shows it in a vertical position. Can this be fixed in the screensaver so I don't have to lay my head on my shoulder to see a sideways pic? Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks Steve for responding. When I open iPhoto the pictures, whether horizontal or vertical, appear correctly, from top to bottom. The real problem is that my parents just bought an iMac and they are the ones who really have a problem with this. And sometimes I do catch myself watching my screensaver, because most of the photos are of my kids and I just sit there and watch like a fool. If the pictures in iPhoto appear correctly but not during the screensaver, is there something else I need to do in iPhoto?
    Thanks again for any advice.

  • Please tell me my photos are somewhere!?

Recently got a new iPhone (4), took pix and everything for 2 months, then synced it to iTunes for the first time today. It asked something about which account I wanted to use, so I picked my prior phone's "name". When it synced, it removed all my recent pix and reloaded all my "old ones" from my prior iPhone.  Sometime in the last 2 months, I did turn on iCloud (don't think I created an account tho....is that possible)?  I know I saw an album called "Photo Stream" before.  I have one again now, but none of my new photos are there.  Anyone think there is a way to get back the last 2 mos pix? Any possibility they got "uploaded" somewhere onto my computer when I connected today?
I have never been able to find where my photos go, if anywhere, when I sync to my laptop (not a Mac) either.
    Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

The first time you connect a new iPhone to iTunes that is or was used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or set up the iPhone as a new iPhone or don't transfer the backup. This is designed to be done right away with a new iPhone, not weeks or months later.
Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are included with the backup. When you chose to transfer the backup for the other iPhone to your new iPhone, this replaced all data on your new iPhone with the backup for the other iPhone, which includes the Camera Roll.
Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera, which is not handled by iTunes.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
If you didn't do this beforehand, the photos that were in the Camera Roll on your new iPhone are gone.
You can't turn on PhotoStream without an iCloud account enabled on the iPhone. If your iCloud account was not enabled along with PhotoStream turned on when these photos were captured, and you did not import the photos with your computer prior to transferring the backup for the other iPhone to your new iPhone, the photos are gone.
