Photos assigned to contacts?

I am considering the 3G iPhone and I am wondering if I will be able to assign a photo to a contact and have that photo displayed full in the screen area when that contact calls me.

Here's what you need to do.
In iPhoto set up a new album. I named mine "Contacts". In this album put all the photos you'd like to use for your contacts. I suggest 1200x1600 sized photos because that's what the iPhone photos are (so you'll get a consistent experience).
In iTunes, sync this album to your iPhone.
On the iPhone, go to Photos, and select a photo and push the button on the bottom left of the screen. Select "Assign to Contact".
Once you've found the appropriate contact it will now appear full screen when you receive a call.
Hope that helps!

  • Photos: If photo assigned to contact why does it now show in tet messaging?

    Hi
I'm new to this forum, smart phones and the Pre. There are lots of things I liIke about the Pre and because I haven't used any other smart phone there are a lots of 'quirks' that I don't notice and some that I do - that bug me e.g. no date time stamp on older texts, not able to store draft texts, not being able to delete individual facebook profiles however the point of this post is:
I removed facebook as a contact account as I didn't want to have a list of people that I will never 'contact' but by doing so I lost the photos that were assigned to the people that now remain in my pre's contact list.
I have gone and assigned new photos to my contacts however I have noticed that when I'm in messaging the photo beside the contact is blank. I would have expected the photo that I assigned to the contact to appear here?
Can someone tell me why it doesn't and what I need to do so that it does?
    Many thanks.

What is going on is it depends on what you have set as the primary profile in the contacts. If you have more than one contact the device will use synergy to place them together.
To fix it pick a contact in your Contacts then in the top left tap on the photo. Then tap on the profile you want as primary and you will get a pop up asking you to set as primary. This should change in the messaging app. If it does not to a restart on the device.
Post back if you have more questions.

  • When I try to add a photo or edit a photo in my contacts, it won't bring up "Faces"

I am trying to add or edit a photo in my Contacts, but when I click on Faces it doesn't bring up any of my "Faces" from iPhoto.

When you add Faces in iPhoto, add first the name to your Contacts. Then quit the Contacts app, and use the name from the Contacts to name the face in iPhoto. Quit iPhoto.
When you now open the Contacts again and open the card from contact you used for an iPhoto face, you will see all faces assigned to that contact.
    For example:
I first created the card "Peter Mohn".
Then I named a Face with "Peter Mohn", using the suggestion from the Contacts.
Now I can add a photo using the named face.

  • Photo from within Contacts - where does it live??

New contact created and a photo taken from within the new contact screen BUT would like to edit the color not just sizing - where is the photo stored??

A photo captured for a contact from with the iPhone's address book with the contact's info selected - Add Photo is stored with the iPhone's address book data. When selecting Add Photo for a contact, the options are Take Photo, or Choose Existing Photo. If you choose Take Photo, the photo captured is not stored in your iPhone's Camera Roll. It is stored with the contact only and isn't accessible for importing by your computer and for editing with a 3rd party app on your iPhone.
For a photo to be saved in your iPhone's Camera Roll, you need to select Camera to capture the photo, which can be imported by your computer, can be edited with a 3rd party app, and can be assigned to contact. After a photo in your iPhone's Camera Roll is selected for a contact's photo, the selected photo can be imported by your computer and removed from your iPhone's Camera Roll after the import process is complete without removing the photo from the contact in your iPhone's address book, which will be synced with the Address Book on your Mac.

  • How do I add photos to my contacts on galaxy s5

You have two ways of adding pictures. From the camera/gallery or from your contacts.
From contacts, find the one you want, open, tap the pen to edit. Tap the + sign and the pop up will ask where you want to add the photo from.
From the gallery, select a picture, tap the menu button and scroll to "set picture as..." And select contact, then it will ask you to check the contact, and crop the photo.

brilpitch, we want you to see whose calling you! Just access your contacts and select Edit. You will be provided with the option to add a photo for that contact from your picture gallery.

  • How do I get photos back for contacts that got lost when contacts transferred to new iPhone 4S?

I went in to the Apple store ot get help betting my data & all transferred from my old phone or Outlook to my new phone.  They used a device that Verizon uses which apparently is the same type used to get contacts from one cell phone to the next--not a smart phone apparently.
I've got dup contacts now--maybe because the way it was synced with my MacBookPro after converting the contacts. I already had most of my contacts converted over.  OK, I can compare & delete dups when I have time.
But I also noticed later that the photos that i had for a # of my contacts all seem to be missing.  Is there a way to get them back?
I thought of doing what I did with the calendars which was to delete the ones from the Mac & iPhone & then sync the iPhone to Outlook in Windows inBootcamp on my MacBookPro.
But then I'm afraid I would either have more dup contacts or if I deleted them 1st, I would have to somehow restore a group of contacts that I only used for email & so except for a couple of them or so in the group, they were not in Outlook or my WinMob phone. I suppose that there is a way that I could somehow retrieve just that group from my Time Machine backup, but I'm not sure how to do that.
Also in the transfer, none of the photos got transferred. They weren't mostly super important, but I am realizing now that I would like to have them.  Maybe I could just connect the old phone to Bootcamp & copy the photos from the phone to the C drive & then drag them over to the mac side & then learn how to get photos into iPhone contacts.
Any suggestions on best ways to deal with this?

Yes, I think that I should be able to easily get them from Bootcamp (which I have also set up as a virtual machine in Parallels 5) to the Mac side. When I moved from Dell I just brought just about all my stuff from my Dell--I think by copying them to my external back up drive & then connecting that to my Mac & copying it to Windows 7 & then dragging it over to the Mac side. I think that is how I did it.
Back then I couldn't figure out any way to sync my Windows mobile phone with my Mac (althogh an iPhone can sync with Windows & Outlook--& I probaby should have used that to get all my pda data transferred. That was how I got my pda data into Outlook 2007 in bootcamp--by syncing with my phone.
I suppose probably Apple forums would be a better place to ask this. I'm over there now asking about Apple ID (beware to set yours up right. different apple products have differnt requirements. My ID used to be this user name. iCloud requires an email address so the Apple guy helping me made that change. But then iTunes registration tells me my password is invalid--even though it is valid to log into One to One & btw, I highly reccomend getting a One to One contract for all the wonderful training they offer for only $99/yr.  I see the rules, they have the typical current rules many do, at least 8 characters & at least 1 upper case & 1 lower case & 1 numeral. My current one missed on 1 of those points & I don't know where to change it & iTunes just rejects it--doesn't take me to where i can change it--unless maybe I can say forgot password or something, but I haven't.
OK; I guess I should try that.  Thanks for your help!

    Wooo.....
I think the gist of your solution is in your last paragraph. I just got my first Mac, a MacBook Pro (a 17", quite a machine). If you move your pics over in Boot Camp, can you access them from the Mac side? If so, maybe you could set the contacts' photos in the Mac's contacts, then sync them to the phone with iCloud, maybe?
I know it can't be that easy, but it may be a place to start...

  • Adding a contact photo to a contact on iPhone breaks ActiveSync to Exchange

This is a weird one... I have a user who has an original iPhone, we just upgraded her to 2.0 a week ago. She noticed that she lost her contact photos when we replaced her contacts with those stored on exchange. She added them back to the contacts on the phone and everything appeared fine. The problem came when she went to add an email address to a contact (which had a photo). It did not update on the iPhone.
Adding a contact on the iphone synced, and modifying a contact that did not have photo synced. Modifying a contact on the computer (one which was not syncing to phone) synced to webmail, so that part of the sync (desktop to exchange) was working. If you remove the picture, it starts syncing again. Issue persists in 2.0.1.
I will test on a iPhone 3G tomorrow and see if the problem persists on all phones and exchange accounts. Can anyone verify this on their setup? If it is not a problem for you are you using exchange 2007?
    Thanks!
    Setup:
    Exchange 2003 SP2
    Entourage 2004
    First Gen 8GB iPhone
    Workaround:
Either remove photos, or disable active sync for contacts, enable syncservices to sync to OS X address book, and sync via cable.

UPDATE: OK, today I tested with 3G iPhone, and there is no issue at all syncing (in fact, the contact picture appears as an attachment to the contact if viewed in webmail).
I then setup another 1st Gen iPhone to the same exchange server, add a photo to the contact, made a change to the contact, and have the same problem -- no sync after photo added, syncs when photo is removed. I even deleted (from Entourage) a contact that I had added a picture to on the phone, and that change did not go to the iphone until I deleted the photo (Waited about 5 minutes). About 20-30 seconds after deleting the photo on the contact, it recognized that the contact was deleted from the exchange side, and pushed the deletion to the phone where it when poof right before my eyes like it's supposed.
This is kind of baffling since you'd think the software is the same between the first gen and 3G after 2.0, but the problem is very re-creatable for me...]

  • Set a Photo to a contact

I noticed that when I set a photo to a contact then when that contact calls there pic takes up the whole iphone screen, but on apple.com they have an example and the photo only takes up the top right with the wallpaper in the background. How can I set it to do that?

I was expecting just the opposite. I have been adding photos to my contacts in address book for years. Once I purchased and synced the iPhone with my PowerMac I wanted the photos to show up "full screen" on my iPhone.
Does anyone know of a way to make the synced address book photos appear "full screen" on my iPhone. Maybe this is not possible due to the pictures resolution.

  • Assign one contact person to all vendors

    Hi folks
We will be using surrogate bidding , I want to assign one contact person to all Vendors , and currenctly in SRM you can only assign one contact person to one vendor , is there a way of bypassing this or of assigning contact person to multiple vendors ?

    Hi Warona,
    The application works as below:
    1. While you access the application, the bidder should be selected for whom the surrogate bid is placed.
    2. Then a bid can be placed, although multiple sur. bids are placed for the same bidder, th system will just ower write the previuosly created one (One Bid Invitation - One Bid or surrogate bid for a bidder)
    3. Then if you want to submit a bid for a different bidder and for the same bid invitation, you have to go back to the application again (bacause only then you ca select the next bidder). Then the same cycles 1- 3 goes on.
    Hopes this solves your problem.

  • HT4865 can I share music and photos but not contacts and messages?

  • No syncing of photos, calenders and contacts, only music and Podcasts

At first, syncing was no problem but now my 120 GB iPod Classic has decided to be a bit more selective of what it wants on the disc. Only Files that are stored over iTunes will be synced (Music, Podcasts). Photos, Calenders and Contacts won´t be synced anymore.
I get no errors while or after syncing the iPod. The settings for Photo, Calender an Contacts are set to sync all files. There are still 46 GB storage left on the iPod and i have just a small amount of photos, so this couldn´t be the problem.
I have also tried the "Restoring iPod to factory settings" function, but the problem remained and i also lost the photos that have been synced to the iPod when everything worked well.
I have OS 10.4.11 and all the Online Updates for my MacMini 1,42 GHz installed.

When you connect the iPod to iTunes the Summary screen appears, but this only shows Sync options for music and videos. Notice the tabs at the top of the Summary screen. The photos are another tab (or pane) - the Photo one and the calendars and contacts options are on the Contacts pane.
I don't know about the Mac, but Windows updates to iTunes have been known to change the options, so if you have received an update, you need to check this.

Your only chance is setting it up as new device without using the latest backup afterwards, which you already did.
If this does not work, you should get it serviced:
