Photos being deleted

I am having a problem with my camera/photos.  When I take about six photos others that I have in my photo roll start being deleted and replaced by the new photo.  This started with the new update and the changes to the camera and photo app.  Anyone else seen this problem and what can or should I do?
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

No idea - want to share some information - like what version of iPhoto and of the OS and exactly what is happening - what has recentlhy changed

  • How can you stop photos being deleted

Is there a way to stop photos being deleted from the iphone or ipad

The way to block deleting photos from the phone is to set a passcode on the phone that operates immediately and/or not give the phone to anyone who would delete them.
You can recover deleted photos if you previously backed them up by restoring the backup.  If not backed up (or imported to an app on your computer, they're gone permanently.

  • Iphoto import interrupted during photos being deleted from iPhone now no photos on iPhoto and most gone from iPhone

I have imported 5000 photos from my iPhone to iPhoto, after doing this i selected "delete from phone" during this my usb connection was knocked and i received an error message. When i connected it again none of the photos are in iPhoto and all but 195 photos have been deleted from my phone.
I cant find anything on the macbook with any of the photos in and i am worried that ive lost them all. Would be greatful for any help.

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database

  • Photostream photos being deleted

I've noticed since updating to iOS 8.1 (and thankfully getting the camera roll back) I am having an odd issue. After a photo shows to have been uploaded to my Photostream and I delete it from the camera roll, it automatically deletes from my Photostream at the same time. This defeats the purpose, once it's in my Photostream I don't need it on my camera roll but now I have to keep it there until I can import the photos from my Phototstream on my Mac before I delete it off the camera roll since it will take it out of the Photostream. I tried turning my Photostream on and off and all that did is cause me to lose any photos over 30 days old in the Photostream on that device (which is also ridiculous, don't limit how long I can see my own photos).
Anyone having this issue or have a suggestion or is it just another bug Apple forced on us?

    Hello Winston,
Thanks for the tip, but it didn't work. I have just done the reset and nothing has changed. The same deleted photos are still showing on my AppleTV.
Do you have any other suggestion?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Problems w/ photos being deleted when downloading

Hello, can anyone tell me why my photos that have already been downloaded on my ipod are deleted when I download new photos. This happens every time I go to download new photos to the ipod. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? I download my photos manually. I can't seem to find an anwser to this anywhere. Please help. Thanks

I have heard of this happening, but I never saw a resolution. Sorry.
The only thing I may could suggest is moving the contents of your photo folder into a folder temporarily. Leave that photo folder that your iPod syncs with empty. Have your iPod sync and clear all of the photos off. Disconnect. Then move those photos back into that folder. Reconnect and have it sync. If you have already tried that, then I'm sorry I couldn't help anymore.

  • HT201317 The pictures in my photostream folder on my computer are being deleted when the pictures are deleted from photostream on individual devices.  The photos on the computer were supposed to be permanent.  Can I stop photostream from deleting from my

The original photstream instructions, and the current photostream information page on the apple website, say that photos on your pc or mac computer that have been synced by photostream are permanent but the latest updatge seems to have changed that so when items are deleted from any device they are deleted from all devices, including images that have gotten older and have rolled out of photostream on my iphone.  I trusted photostream to save these images on my computer and now they appear to be gone.  Can I turn off the option of deleting photostream images from my computer or do I need to copy these images to another folder to save them from being deleted when they are deleted from the device.

so say I take a picture with my phone. that picture is now located in my camera roll and uploads to my iclouds photostream, which I can then view on my computer. now my question is this: is the photos in my stream, on my comp permanent, allowing me to then delete them from my phones camera roll?
    No
Photostream keeps them for 30 days.

  • Photo stream not being deleted on iMac

When I delete a picture on OS devices photostream it is being deleted on all devices EXCEPT on my imac photostream. Photostream is enabled on iMac using Mavericks.  Any ideas???
    thanks

It is deleted from PhotoStream on you Mac - it is NOT deleted from the event you automatically import it into based on your iPhoto preference settings - once the photo is in an event it is part of iPhoto and independent of the source

  • Photos I delete in library are not being deleted from hard drive

Help please. I have been trying to delete photos from the iPhoto library (Events and Photos) and emptying the iPhoto trash can. This is supposed to erase them from the hard drive. However, when I look in the hard drive in the Pictures folder, the photos I deleted are still there. Could someone tell me what might be wrong? Thanks!

    I'm running a managed library.
Let me see if I can understand this. The problem has to do with the place I was looking at. I was looking in the pictures folder in the hard drive. Now, the pictures inside the iPhoto library are the ones that are deleted from the hard drive, and the ones in the Pictures folder are not being touched at all. So I have two separate folders with pictures: the iPhoto library folder and the Pictures folder inside the hard drive.
Since I'm going to be using iPhoto exclusively I might as well delete that other Pictures folder in the hard drive. If I delete the pictures in this folder, would that affect the pictures I have in the iPhoto Library? I'm thinking no since iPhoto has made copies of all those pictures. What do you think?
    THanks for the info TD

  • Keeping photos from being deleted from folders

I am wondering if there is a way to keep photos from being deleted from a folder if they're deleted from the library, like some kind of safeguard. Here is my dilema: I import, say, 50 photos from shooting a band. I choose 5 of those 50 to add to my 'portfolio' album, and no longer need all 50 photos in my library, as they take up much space. So, I select all 50 photos as a group in the library and delete them, but lose the 5 that I put in the 'portfolio' folder. Is there any better way to clean up my library, and not lose the portfolio pictures, short of going one by one and deleting only the ones from the library that I know I don't want to keep? Any imput is greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

    Hi chado404,
The albums only point to the photos within them, meaning if you delete from the library you are also deleting any of those photos from the album also.
If you take these 50 photos in a photo shoot, do your deleting first then put the remainder in an album. To help you, you can give the photos you want to keep a star rating. When you are done, select all as a group, then command click on the photos with the star rating to de-select just those, then delete the rest.

If you have a current iCloud or iTunes backup you can restore to that.

  • After sharing via photo stream... Am I able to delete from my album without it being deleted from photo stream?

Help I need to make space on my iPad but afraid of loosing photos :/

If you delete these pictures from your iPad, they will stay in your Photo Stream. However, Photo Stream deletes your pictures 30 days after adding them, so you should back up them to the Mac or PC if you don't want to lose these pictures

  • How do I remove photos from iPhone 5 without their also being deleted from other devices?

I have albums on my iPhone and would like to delete them but, if I do so, they will also delete from my iPad, due to syncing through iCloud.  It seems, even if I turn iCloud off, temporarily, they will delete from the iPad next time iCloud is turned on.
I suspect that, even if I shift the albums to a flash drive, the same thing will happen.
    Thank you

I don't understand the difference between Photo Stream and Camera Roll.
Camera Roll is the "local" storage on your device, where photos and videos that you take get saved.  This can take up a lot of space, and since Camera Roll is part of your backup that makes your backup very large too.
My Photo Stream is the iCloud storage for photos.  This also takes up space, but not as much because they're not full resolution.  Depending on your device settings, when you take a picture it is saved in Camera Roll and then automatically uploaded to your My Photo Stream (for the purpose with sharing with other devices on your iCloud account).  My Photo Stream is meant to be temporary as it only holds the last 30 days' photos and only up to 1000 ... as these limits are reached, the oldest photos get deleted from iCloud.  Note that videos that you take do not get uploaded to My Photo Stream.
Think of Camera Roll as you would think of a digital camera, and My Photo Stream as a temporary cloud-based storage area for sharing.
So as roaminggnome says above, make a habit of transferring photos and videos from Camera Roll to your computer and then delete them from the device.  If you want to keep them on the device, still transfer and delete them but then make a designated folder on your computer for the things you want on your device and sync them back to your iPhone by telling iTunes to sync to this folder on your computer.

  • How can I tell whether or not a photo I delete from iPhone will also be deleted from iPhoto on my Mac?

I would like to download the new iOS, however when I go to do that, a message tells me that I cannot because I need 4.6 GB of storage in order to install it. I only currently have 864 MB of storage available on my 16 GB iPhone 5s.
The storage problem would be fairly easy to solve through deleting photos and/or videos, as the Photos & Camera app shows a current usage of 5.7 GB. I am perfectly comfortable deleting photos off my iPhone if I know that they will remain in iPhoto on my Mac. However, when I select photos to delete, the phone warns me that the photo(s) will also be deleted from Photo Stream on all my devices. I tested this with some photos I didn't care about (whether or not they got permanently deleted from all devices), and it is perplexing, because even though the iPhone warned me that the photos would be deleted on other devices, they have not deleted out of iPhoto on my Mac. I even Quit iPhoto and re-started it, but the photos are still there. Why would the iPhone claim that the photos would be deleted from other devices, but yet clearly the photos are not being deleted from my other device? This leaves me confused and unsure.
Meanwhile, if I select a bunch of photos then click Delete, the phone warns me that SOME photos will also be deleted from Photo Stream on all my devices.
I am very annoyed by the ambiguity of the word "some," and not being able to know for sure whether or not photos I delete off my iPhone will still remain in iPhoto on my Mac.
I would just like a really clear answer if possible: currently all my iPhone photos are showing up in iPhoto on my Mac. If I delete photos off of my iPhone, will they or won't they be deleted from iPhoto on my Mac?
    Thanks if anybody can help.

If the Photos have been moved into the Library (Events, Photos, Faces, Places) in iPhoto on your Mac (either because you did it manually or as a result of iPhoto > Preferences > iCloud > Automatic Import being on) then nothing you do on the phone will delete them from iPhoto on your Mac.
If the Photos are ONLY in the Shared - iCloud section of iPhoto then you risk losing them as deleting them from Photo Stream will delete them from there.

  • Photo Library, Deleting Photos from iPhone, iPhoto

I have read posts about deleting photos from a photo library using iPhoto. I am a novice: do I have iPhoto as part of iTunes? Maybe the better question is: where on my computer is that photo being sync'd so I can delete it?

    JRichson,
iPhoto is a application on Mac Computers. If you are looking a application to use with pictures and to sync with the iPhone then you might want to look at Adobe Photo Shop. Or on a PC you can sync photos from a folder on your computer.

  • If I delete photos in "iPhoto" will those photos also delete in the application "Photos"

Hey guys! I was wondering if I delete photos in "iPhoto" will those photos also delete in the new application "Photos".
I transfered all my photos to "Photos" the second it came out, so I'd find it strange if I still needed "iPhoto"
    Thanks a lot!

No, they will not be deleted from Photos. The two libraries are totally independent of each other.
YEs, you can now delete the iPhoto Library, but if you want yo do this to gain disk space, you won't see much of a difference. Reason being that both Libraries merely point to the same image files on your disk via hard links.
For now, I would suggest moving the iPhoto Library to an external disk "just in case."
