Photos blurry

Would Photoshop correct photos that are blurry? I have a bunch of photos from my wedding reception that came out pretty bad and I'd like to get them corrected. I don't have Photoshop but will purchase if anyone knows for sure that it can correct these photos? I've attached a few as examples of what they look like now.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!! :-)

While there ARE some differences between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements, the main functions are very similar, and as Elements is targeted to the consumer market, there are more "big button" operations, that require less knowledge to do a passable job. As mentioned, PS (the big-brother), is targeted to the professional crowd, so much more is done "by hand." Fewer "big buttons."
I would post to the Photoshop Elements Forum (I would not Move the thread, as there might be more input from the folk here, that will help you), and tell them exactly what you need to do (like removing that object in one Image). They can then tell you how easy it would be in that program, and might have some thoughts on other useful plug-ins. I was thinking of that Focus Magic, but you have already gotten a rec. for it.
For one never having used an Image Manipulation program, I think that PS Elements would be a better starting point.
Good luck,
Hunt
PS - as stated, the camera's shutter was open too long, and both some camera and subject movement were recorded.

  • SOME of the photos blurry after upgrade

    Greetings -
I purchased iPhoto '09 for my wifes MacBookPro (replacing iPhoto '06). I have a MacBookPro with preinstalled iPhoto '09.
SOME of the photos she had prior to the upgrade, as well as SOME of the photos I have on my system that I send to her over e-mail, appear crystal clear in PREVIEW, but are blurry in iPhoto.
She did not have this issue with her previous version. I have read some threads on rebuilding the library...but this occurs with nearly every photo I now send to her.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thx

To e-mail photos select the photos and click on e-mail in the toolbar
I believe that this is what you did
Note that when you do this you make a selection of photo size or small. medium, large or actual
Then when the photo is passed to mail and the mail compose window opens in the lower right there is a pull down menu giving you the same options - if either of these are on small you will get a low resolution photo attached - as a test send one with both set to actual and before clicking e-mail note the photo size in the iPhoto info window in the lower left

  • Photos Blurry in iPhoto vs Photoshop Elements or Preview

I've noticed in iPhoto 5.0.4 my photos don't appear to be presented as sharp as they do when I open the same photo in Photoshop Elments 2 or in Preview. I double click the photo to go to edit mode. I have the same photo open in the other applications. iPhoto is a tad blurry.
Has then been fixed in iPhoto 6?
    Thanks for any advice
    Kelvin

Also take a look at PhotoPresenter. It has some terrific animated themes and allows putting both slides and video files in the same slideshow. It will integrate with iPhoto also.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Portrait (vertical) photos blurry in iPhoto (except when rotated landscape)

In iPhoto '09 with my Canon G11, all portrait (vertical) photos appear blurry. When these same photos are viewed in Preview or rotated to lie on their side in iPhoto however they are fine. This is a huge problem as I just got back from a long trip where I deleted all blurry vertical photos for the first few weeks thinking it was a problem with my camera (the lens has a scratch on it that I believed might be affecting focus on vertical shots) until I did some testing and realised it was iPhoto that was at fault and the photos were perfectly fine.
Is there any way to get iPhoto to display those photos correctly (I have tried various full screen and zooming modes to no avail, and there seems to be no smoothing setting in iPhoto preferences) so that I can at least look at them and use them in a slideshow, without having to open every single vertical photo separately in another editor?

I've just discovered a similar issue, but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with vertical or horizontal. At least it is still happening when I turn photos sideways.
    To be very clear here
    1) This is not a thumbnail issue, these are the original files taken from my camera minutes ago.
    2) This is not initial blurriness while the photo loads.
    3) I only notice it in full screen (edit) mode because it's actually quite subtle.
    4) Photos display correctly (sharp) when you zoom in a little, but return to blurry when you zoom back out.
    5) Appears to be random, with one nearly identical shot being crisp and the next appears blurry, but the affect seems to be specific to particular images (e.g. it doesn't come and go randomly regardless of which pictures you happen to be looking at. If a photo is blurry, it will stay that way even if you've closed iPhoto and reopened it).
    6) Photos are from a Nikon D5000
Any suggestions? This is a ridiculous hassle as the OP mentioned, and is completely unacceptable in any photo editing/browsing software.

  • Why are some photos blurry on iweb?

When I drop in crisp clear photos, they instantly look blurry, especially when I use the edges to reduce or enlarge the photo - even the smallest amount.
I am using jpegs with a standard res of 640x480 - I have not encountered any problems in other applications when dropping in photos or making minor adjustments in the image size (through dragging) - why here? I am pulling the photos from ones I already have stored on my idisc (since they are already a smaller file size from the originals in my iphoto library).
Anyone have any suggestions? I would like my web site to look as polished and professional as possible and blurry photos isn't helping that goal.
    Thanks,
    Bob

I am getting blurry pictures too. I can't understand why. I edited the images in Photoshop, saved them as jpg's about 5X6 inches at 100 dpi, imported to iPhoto, dragged the images to my pages. Resulting images are not clear. Even after using the adjustment tool, some do not get sharp. I have tried sizing images to various sizes and resolutions without success. I have been customizing pages. Someone at Apple said that it must have something to do with the converter. I don't know. I just know that my originals are tack sharp and my pictures on iWeb leave a lot to be desired. Anyone have a cure for this? I am on an eMac running OSX 10.3.9. My work is published in B&W magazine this month and my web site has to be clear. See my web site for examples. http://www.RussAndMarciaMartin.com Some look good while others do not. If you look around, you will find blurry ones. I don't know why some are clear and others aren't.
    Thanks

  • Photos blurry when uploaded

when i upload to an online developing service like Snapfish OR when i try to order prints from IPhoto my photos are blurry. in snapfish they actually appear blurry and i get a low resolution warning and when ordering from IPhoto i also get the low resolution warning. this eventhough all my photos are 1704X22772 resolution. i did an experiment where i upload directly to snapfish via my cardreader (rather than importing into IPhoto first) and those pictures were fine.
can someone help me ? i just converted to Mac from PC just because i thought this kind of stuff would be easier.

    Nimi
It sounds like you're uploading the Thumbnails that iPhoto uses to display the pics in the iPhoto Window and not the files themselves.
How do you go about uploading?
Try selecting a pic in the iPhoto Window and dragging it to the desktop. iPhoto will make a full-sized copy there. Upload that, and then trash it after. (It's only a copy.) You can also use the File -> Export command and have more options.

  • Using Adobe Premier Elements to create a video using the photos and it is make the photos blurry. Is there a setting to correct this?

as the subject states, i am suing Premier Elements pro to create a video using photos. The photos are clear then when you play the video they become blurry. I would guess there would be a way to correct this but not having much success. any helps would be great.

    Iltowman
Thanks for the follow up. Right now I see details that do need addressing. For one, you are importing 3:2 photos into a project set for 16:9.
You still have not told us what version of Premiere Elements that you are using and on what computer operating system it is running. For now I will assume, Premiere Elements 13/13.1 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit. NTSC setup.
Please try the following as a mini test run (just a few of your photos) to determine if the Timeline photos present better in the Edit area and in an export.
    1. Open Premiere Elements 13/13.1 to the Expert workspace and go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings.
    2. In Change Settings, change the settings to
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR [email protected]
    OK out of there.
    3. In the New Project Dialog that now opens, rename the project and make sure that you have a check mark next to Force Selected Project Setting on This Project. OK out of there.
    4. Back in the Export workspace, import your photos using Premiere Elements' Add Media/Files and Folders/Projects Assets from where you drag the photos to the Timeline. There will be an orange line over the Timeline content. Press the Enter key of the computer main keyboard. or the Render button above the Timeline to do Timeline rendering which will result in the best possible preview in the Edit area monitor.
Also, right click the Edit area monitor, select Playback Quality, and then determine if the "Highest" gives better results than "Automatic".
If all looks good, then let us look at the quality of a AVCHD.mp4 export of that Timeline....
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    with Presets = MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30.
Is the quality of the photos in this mini test run better, the same, or worse?
About your photos (3872 x 2592 3:2)...video is 4:3 or 16:9. So to avoid black borders, you could consider
    a. cropping the originals from 3:2 to 16:9 before import
    or
    b. importing them as is and doing any needed scaling in the Edit area monitor
But, right now the focus is on image clarity rather than black borders.
    Please review and consider.
    Thank you.

  • Why are still photos blurry when I play movie?

I am making a video slideshow using Adobe Premiere Elements 9. Most of the video is made up still photos. When I playback the video the still photos are blurry. What should I do to prevent this? Thanks!

I read your article Bill, and that just seems like a massive amount of work for the average individual who wants to put together a movie. Is all of that really necessary?
With PS, or PSE, and Scaling Actions, one can do batch processing of entire folders of images in moments. That linked article gives setup tips for doing batch scaling very easily, and the Action, plus Automate to Batch, will work on entire folders. My workstation will automatically process ~ 500 4000x3000 pixel images to 720x480 in about 2 mins.
There are two benefits when Scaling stills in an image processing program, prior to Import into an NLE (Non Linear Editor) program:
The processing overhead is greatly reduced
The quality is greatly improved, as the Scaling algorithms in an image processing program, are much better *
If one wants to let the NLE program do the processing, and one has many large images (especially at still camera resolutions), then they WILL need a very powerful computer.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
    * PrPro, as of CS5, has improved the quality of Scaling, but the overhead issue still exists.

  • Photos blurry in InDesign

    Hello,
I am new to Indesign and trying to create a documents with a few photos in them.  When I photoshop my image in photoshop the image will look fine but when i place it in Indesign it is blurry and choppy. I have checked my setting and everything is set to high quality.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

89 x 126 means you scaled it unevenly, and 89 is a pretty low resolution, so it's very likely the source of the problem. Your pixels are being rendered large enough to pick them out with the naked eye.
In photoshop youare viewing the actual image pixels, and waht you see on screen is not affected by the resolution you choose to save at as long as you don't resample. In ID you are looking at those same pixels (well, a screen preview of the pixels, really), but now you've defined a physical size for the image, and the larger you make the image the bigger the pixles must be rendered, like blowing up a balloon with printing on it. No new pixels are added, they just get expanded or compressed as you scale.

  • Photos blurry on iPhoto album

My iPhoto book has a bunch of pictures that printed out blurry. It looks as though the colour channels have split. The original pictures are not out of focus and were shot with at least a 5 MP camera (1248px x 936px and up). The scanned film shots were originally 1158px x 1704px. Some shots where the colour channels split have introduced new colours. Blue will have a rim of pink.
Anyone have thoughts on this? I have ordered two books prior to this (using the same cameras etc..) and they've turned out beautifully.
    Kerry

    Kerry:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Is it just a few or many that are doing this? What do those files look like when exported to the desktop and opened with Preview? That will tell us if it's a file issue or an iPhoto issue. If the file looks good in Preview then try rebuilding the library, launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options. If that doesn't fix the problem the try this:
1 - create a new library by launching iPhoto with the Option key depressed. When asked create a new library and give it a distinctive name.
2 - drag some of the folders (that contain the files are giving you problems) from the Originals folder of your original library into the open window of the new one.
3 - create a test book with those "problem" photos and see if it's working.

i have a 3G, and since it was new, the photos have always been blurry in the upper left 1/8th of the photo, no matter which way i hold it. has anyone else had this problem? i don't think it's a lens cleanliness issue because it did that right out of the box. thanks!

  • Photos Blurry In Slide Show After Resizing

Hi - I'm trying to create a slide show with photos in Premiere Element 4. However, the photos are blurry. I resized the photos to 1000x750 using the batch resize but they are still just as blurry as before the resize. Any ideas? Thanks.

No, video for viewing on TV is interlaced... it is shot with two fields, each shot at slightly different times, the two interlaced fields make up a frame. It is the time difference between when each frame was shot that gives the "jaggy" lines. A TV knows how to handle these fields whereas a computer monitor does not.

  • Photos blurry after restart?

I just bought my iPad and all of the photos are blurry after restart, including the ones I downloaded and took myself.
Also when I tap Edit, it returns to home screen.
    Can anyone help?

    Try a Reset...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

  • Photos blurry when upload to MobileMe

When I upload certain photos from Aperture to MobileMe, a lot of them come out blurry! I notice that all of the blurry ones are ones I originally photographed in RAW format. Am I not saving these files correctly in Aperture?? Are the masters being uploaded by accident?
    What's the deal?
PS: And what does "Primary Only" mean?

While uploading images to Mobile Me be sure and allow your system time to finish creating previews. This could take more time uploading RAW. Once your previews are complete your images should be sharp.

  • Quick Look Photos Blurry

Quick Look incorrectly renders thumbnails (previews) of some photos as blurry. They are high resolution, normally rendered photos when opened but their thumbnails are blurry.
Other photos within the folder show normal, crisp thumbnails (previews).
I do understand that the quick look, or cover view, rendering of folder contents utilizes an algorithm in which photos briefly are blurry. However when the cover flow comes to a stop on the photo in question it should become crisp and sharply focused. For a few photos in my folder this does not happen.
I do not know how to force quick look to re-render these photos correctly.
    Assistance.

Asked and answered not here in apple support but MacLife @ http://www.maclife.com/article/jaggyadobe_jpegs_in_leopards_coverflow
Discussion noted: "The fix. According to Apple, if a file already has a preview, "Leopard respects the preview." If there's no preview, "Cover Flow will provide a large size preview." The fix involves removing the preview from Adobe JPEG files.
In Photoshop CS3, go to Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > File Handling). Under the Image Preview pulldown menu, select Never Save. Then open the Adobe JPEG file and save it as a JPEG. The file will save without a preview, and Cover Flow will create a crisp and clean one."
