Photos - can't transfer them into iphoto.

I recently lost all the contents of OSX.
I purchased iPod Photo Liberator to transfer my photos from my iPod photo and the photos are back on my HD - but I can transfer them into iphoto - it won't let me.
Any ideas?

Hello! You may have better luck posting in the iPhoto section . You say they are on the hd? Are they on your computer but not in iPhoto? Are you using the "import" command from the file menu in iPhoto? Tom

  • I have a large kodak easyshare library, what is the best way to transfer them into iPhoto ?

I have about 5k pictures in the kodak easyshare software system on a dell laptop - what is the best way to transfer or import them into iPhoto on my iMac ? any help will be greatly appreciated...

Simply, export the data from this esy share system to standard formats like jpeg, making sure to preserve all metadata on the way. How to do that? YOu'll need to post on a Kodak forum I'm afraid.
Then copy the files to the Mac and import them.

  • When an app hast permission to access photos, can it transfer them to somewhere on the internet without user knowledge?

    Hello
when I give an app the permission to access my photos, how is it secured that it doesn't transfer parts of them to somewhere on the Internet in the background without my knowledge?
    Thanks for an answer!

Sorry, but you cannot simply copy your Time Machine backup by drag and drop. You must clone it from the old drive to the new one:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
      1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag
it to the Destination entry field.
      5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
          the Source entry field.
      6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the new Time Machine backup drive. Source means the old Time Machine drive.

  • I have photos on my iphone 4 that i'm trying to transfer to iphoto.  The problem is when I plug the phone in, it only wants to transfer the new photos, not all.  How can I take all the photos off my phone and put them into iphoto?

I have photos on my iphone 4 that i'm trying to transfer to iphoto.  The problem is when I plug the phone in, it only wants to transfer the new photos, not all.  How can I take all the photos off my phone and put them into iphoto? Even if there are duplicates, I'd like to make sure I get all the photos from my phone into iphoto.  Thanks

To see all the photos on the phone, including photos that have already been imported into iPhoto, deselect the "Hide Photos Already Imported" checkbox. If the camera contains photos that have already been imported into iPhoto, those photos are hidden by default.

  • I have taken pictures of items that are linked to a database that I am building.  How can I bypass importing into iPhoto and simply downloading the images as "files" not "photos" so I can access them with my database?  thanx.

I have taken pictures with both my Sony camera and my iPhone of items that are linked to a database that I am building, as well as my website.  How can I bypass importing the images into iPhoto and simply downloading the images as "files" not "photos" so I can access them with my database?  thanx.

If your Sony has a removable memory card you can use a card reader to copy the image files from to a folder on your Desktop and then move them anywhere you'd like.
Since the iPhone doesn't have a removable memory card you can try using Image Capture to see if you can manually upload the files to a folder on the Desktop.
If you have to import the photos, which are image files, into iPhoto you can then export them out of iPhoto to the Desktop and go from there to your database.  Just because they are in iPhoto doesn't prevent you from using them elsewhere.

  • I am new to IPhoto 9.5  and I think I missed a step. I uploaded pictures but they do not appear as an event in my library.  They are in Last imported only. How can I get them into event.

I am new to IPhoto 9.51  and I think I missed a step when I uploaded my vacation pictures. I uploaded pictures but did not import them into the library.  They are in L\last imported only.  How can I get them into events?

If the Photos are under 'Last Import' or 'Last N Months' then they are in the Library somewhere, just not where you are expecting them to be. We know this as both Last Import and 'Last N Months' are not places, just listings of elements in the the Library.
The two most common reasons that they can't be found is either an incorrect date on the camera or the Sorting (View Menu -> Sort Photos - or Sort Events, as appropriate) has changed.
Quick route to find them: Right-click on one of the images in Last Import and select 'Show Event'. This will bring you to the image in the Library.

  • Aperture 3 & iPhoto - How to add photos w/o putting them into the library

    Hey Guys,
I want to know if there is a way of using iPhoto or Aperture without having to store my photos into their library.
I've been traditionally keeping my photos in my "Pictures" album by adding folders and numbering them accordingly to keep track of my albums. Because some times I edit stuff and what not, their dates are often modified and thus when I drop them into iPhoto or Aperture's library, it screws up the order of my folders. Hence I've never really gone around using iPhoto and Aperture.
I'm currently using Picasa only because it allows me to "link" my photos to it's application instead of having to dump all of it's photos physically into a library of its own. Besides though, Picasa's functions aren't all that fantastic.
Is there a way for Aperture or iPhoto to do the same thing so I can keep to my own method of handling my photo albums, and yet benefit from iPhoto or Aperture's editing functions?
For reference, this is how I keep my pictures.

I don't think you've grasped Aperture or iPhoto. Both are Digital Asset Managers. Neither are photo editors, which seems to be what you want.
    Specifically
Does this mean I can still edit a picture
    Yes.
    a) save it as a new file,
Not without exporting first - and frankly, why would you bother waste the disk space. Further, these apps are Managers, the point is that you access the photos via the iPhoto or Aperture application, not the Finder. It's a bit like AddressBook. That's your address manager, it makes no sense to try and root around in the Application Support Folder to access and address because the +access point+ to this information is the AddressBook window.
    b) save over the original picture?
Neither app will do this. The +entire point+ of these applications is to preserve the Original as a "Digitial Negative" and not to ever change this.
If you want to directly edit the photos then you need a photo editor like Photoshop.

I have just used migration assistant to import photos (using an ethernet cable) from my PC. It has worked but they have gone into a new user on my MacPro. How can I merge them into the one user account.

How many pictures (or how many bytes) are we talking?  Now that the pictures are imported one way to cross users is to use a removable drive (although large volumes of files preclude this).
The other is to login as the user where the pictures are, then copy them into the public drop box of the user where you want the picture.
The arrow is showing (in ths example) copy files from the Pictures folder for my user to the guest user accounts public dropbox.  When you do this you may have to authenticate and you won't be able to see the results of the copy until you log in as the other user.
All users are in the folder "/Users/"

  • I'd like to copy my iWeb photos & comments and put them into a Photo Book

Instead of building a Photo Book from scratch in iPhoto, I'd like to copy several photo pages with comments from iWeb and transfer them into a Photo Book. I tried to copy/paste and this doesn't work - the comments do not get captured. Has anyone done this? Thanks.

Command-Shift-4 will change your mouse into cross-hairs. Position at the upper left corner and drag to the right and down. When you have things lined up let go of the mouse and a new image file will be placed on your Desktop.
This image file will probably not be high enough resolution to use in a printed Book, however. They require 300 dpi in most cases.
To copy text from a Web page hold down the mouse as you drag across it and "Copy". "Paste" into any text editor to save the clippings.
You can also paste text into most image editing apps like GraphicConverter.

  • Can I turn Camedia into iPhoto... or anything?

Back in ancient times (pre-2005) I received a Camedia Olympus digital camera as a gift. I was able to use its software in my Power Mac and had no problems importing the photos. When I bought my iMac I found to my dismay that I could not transfer the software; Camedia currently does not work with OS X.
I was able to transfer some of the photos, though, to the hard drive. Today I wanted to burn them to a disc for printing at the store. I can pull them up on my screen under OS 9. But if I drag them to a CD, they become HTML and are not viewable. I tried dragging them into iPhoto but it couldn't recognize them.
Anybody have any ideas about how to return these photos to the real world?

Import your Camedia photos into iPhoto you can build Albums and order printed books from Apple if you like or print them yourself. I had a Olympus Camedia camera I gave it to my daughter when I bought a new camera and I import photos into iPhoto and print them out for her. I make an album and print them on my Epson Photo printer. I never used the camera software because iPhoto worked so well with digital cameras, and it works as well with my new camera.
All my pictures are hi resolution JPEG photos. If they are JPEG they will import right into iPhoto Library by dragging them there you can drag a whole folder to the Library and have iPhoto sort in your choice by title, date etc. from the iPhoto > View > drop down menu.

Maybe try one of the WiFi transfer Apps?  There are several to choose from. I use Photosynch quite often to send photos and videos between my computer(s), my iPhone, and iPad.

  • Photos appear dark after importing into iPhoto

I am having an issue importing photos into iPhoto 6. When I download photos from my digital camera (Canon Rebel XTi) they view perfectly in Preview.app. Once I import them into iPhoto they all appear dark, however I can open the photo file from the iPhoto directory with Preview.app or even Photoshop and they appear fine. Any suggestions?
    Intel iMac 20" 2.16 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

The images appear to be darkened as if they were taken in low light or overly saturated colors in iPhoto only. I can open them in Photoshop or Preview.app and they look as they should. The camera is using sRGB Profile. The option for iPhoto to add a ColorSync profile is off. I get the same results with this features on or off.

  • How do i transfer pdfs into iPhoto on a mac

how do i transfer pdfs into iPhoto on a mac. the pdfs are in my pictures folder but i need them to be in my iphoto

If you have pdfs with multi pages that you want to get into iPhoto here's a way to do so enmass:
Here's how to get any file (pdf) into iPhoto as a jpeg file:
1 - open the (pdf) file in any application that will open it, in this case Preview.
2 - type Command+P to start the print process.
3  - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
NOTE:  If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 300 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place them in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
4 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
5 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of each page of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto.
