Photos different between PS CC and LR 5

I think this problem has persisted for a while (dating back to at least CS6/LR4).  Photos look different when opened in PS and when opened in LR.  Bear with me on this because the story may be a little long:
I have a folder of jpg versions of images that I have my Mac use as rotating backgrounds on my desktops.  These jpg files were created from the original files without converting them from their default color spaces, so the jpgs are still in that color space.  The original files are 16-bit ProPhoto RGB files at very high resolutions.  The images were downsized, then saved as jpgs... that's it.  What I noticed was some weird blockiness (like jpg artifacts) in the smooth regions of one of my backgrounds when it came up on my desktop.  I opened the jpg in CC and sure enough there were the blocks.  I thought it might be a color space thing, and I remembered that I had converted all my wallpaper files to sRGB versions using LR (converted from the ProPhotoRGB jpgs, not the original files).  Opening one of those converted files in Photoshop CC showed no blockiness.  That made no sense to me since the original ProPhotoRGB jpg that created the new sRGB jpg (via Lightroom) did seem to have those blocks.  So I opened up Lightroom and looked at the original ProPhotoRGB jpg.  This is where I'm baffled by the whole thing.  How can the file show blockiness when viewed via the OS, and when viewed via CC, but not when viewed via Lightroom?  Furthermore, how can lightroom take a file that has these blocks in it (as shown by CC and OS X) and display it without blocks, and create a block free version of it in another color space?
Just for the hell of it, I went back to CC and the original high res ProPhoto PSD image, converted to sRGB before resizing and saving as a jpg, and sure enough the resulting image has no blockiness.  I can buy that... something in the processing pipeline in CC works when you manually do the conversion, but is automatically taken care of in Lightroom, but why is the same file being displayed oddly in CC (with the blocks), when Lightroom doesn't show the problem (and can create a new version of the file without the problem that opens just fine in CC)?
Here's a 200% screen shot of what photoshop shows when it opens the ProPhoto jpg file (the blocks are pretty evident in the blue of the sky):
Here is the same exact file opened and displayed (at 200%) in Lightroom:
Totally confused.
Thanks,
Dave

There is no difference between the sky in each of those two images which are being displayed side by side in a single screenshot of one and the same Bridge Preview window.

As I said before, I don't know about Lightroom.  But, let's assume that for now.
manzico wrote:

Only as far as the raw conversion pipeline is concerned, and the same is also 100% true in the case of Adobe Camera Raw.  Both of them use a linear (no gamma applied = gamma 1.0) version of ProPhoto RGB as their working space in the raw conversion.  That has nothing to do with anything.  You yourself said that the raw conversions from both applications look fine (the same) to you in both the ACR conversion in Photoshop and the Lightroom conversion.
So now it turns out that the difference you perceive is only in the JPEG, and that means I have utterly wasted my time here, even if the difference—that you perceive and I don't—were real.
For one, there's no guarantee that Photoshop and Lightroom use or have to use the same file compression scheme; but, two, who cares about a gosh-darned JPEG?!  I certainly do not deal with JPEGs unless specifically demanded by an uninformed third party.  JPEGs are, by definition, always lossy, even at the lowest compression and highest quality level.
In other words, this discussion is akin to two bald men fighting over a comb.

  • What's different between busniess system and technical system in SLD?

I can enter product(ect.ERP r/3) , components(ect.FI-CO module) to technical system , then enter technical system to busniess system  but ,who can explain  what's different between busniess system and technical system in SLD, exactly?
    THANKS!

Technical Systems are of following types:
Technical systems are application systems that are installed in your system landscape. An example of an application system is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) server. In the SLD, there are five types of technical systems:
    1.)WEBas java,
    2.)Standalone JAVA
    3.)Third party
    4.)Web as ABAP
    1) Web AS Java
Web AS Java systems consist of one or more instances and each instance is installed on a separate host. An instance itself consists of cluster nodes that can communicate with each other.
    2.)Standalone Java
Standalone Java technical systems are standalone Java applications that are installed in a computer system from an administration perspective. They can also be installed as an operating system service or as a daemon
Web AS java belongs to the NetWeaver Comes with both ABAP and Java, Standalone instread comes separate from the netWeaver.
    3) Third party technical sytem
It can be any of the technical sytem. let us say if you want to send a file to R/3, here the file reside in your local system. for that you can define your local system as a third party technical system.
All those machines that comes under non sap, belongs to the third party.
4.) Web AS ABAP technical systems, ranging from any SAP system to an APO server or CRM server, are based on the same Basis Component (BC), which includes the ABAP interpreter, ABAP Dictionary, ABAP Workbench, and so on. A dedicated database, which stores most of the data of the BC and the application components, is associated with the system.

Business systems are logical systems, which function as senders or receivers within XI. Business systems can be SAP systems or third-party systems.
Depending on the associated technical system, the following types of business systems are defined in the SLD:
    · Web AS ABAP
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS ABAP.
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS ABAP, can play the role either of an application system or an integration server. An integration server is the central component of XI, which provides a framework for the exchange of information among various internal and external entities of a company. The integration server facilitates the interaction between the different operating systems and applications across internal and external networks.
    · Web AS Java
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS Java.
    · Standalone
A business system, which is associated with a standalone Java application.
    · Third-party
A business system, which is associated with a third-party technical system.

Can Photoshop CS 6 & 8 compatible with Window 7 or Window 8.1?
What is the different between Photoshop Element and CS 6 ?

They are two entirely different and separate applications, each one with its own separate and independent development and engineering teams.
Photoshop is a professional level application that makes no apologies for its very long and steep learning curve. It has a bunch of features that are absent in Elements.
Elements, on the other hand, is a simplified application lacking much of the power and refinements of Photoshop proper, but it has hand-holding features designed to appeal to amateurs and beginners.
If your needs are not complicated, Elements may just be the ticket for you.
Please realize that you are not addressing Adobe here in these user forums.  We are users just like you.  Personally, I have no connection to Adobe.

  • Different between ALE, IDOC and BAPI?

    Hi Folks,
What is the different between ALE, IDOC and BAPI? and send me the following steps?
    Thanks in advance.
    Siva

    Hi,
    please read the below lines.
    ALE
ALE is SAP proprietary technology that enables data communications between two or more SAP R/3 systems and/or R/3 and external systems. When a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution such as R/3 is implemented, companies have to interface the ERP system with legacy systems or other ERP systems.
ALE provides intelligent mechanisms where by clients can achieve integration as well as distribution of applications and data.
ALE technology facilitates rapid application prototyping and application interface development, thus reducing implementation time.
The ALE components are inherently integrated with SAP applications and are robust, leading to a highly reliable system.
ALE comes with application distribution/integration scenarios as well as a set of tools, programs, data definitions, and methodologies that you can easily configure to get an interface up and running.
    BAPI
BAPIs provide a stable, standardized method for third-party applications and components to integrate into the Business Framework. These interfaces are being specified as part of SAP's initiative with customers, partners and leading standards organizations. Also, SAP has implemented the emerging Object Application Group (OAG) specifications with BAPIs.
Pros and Cons for both BAPI and Call Transaction
    BAPI
One of the big plusses for BAPIs is that the interface and function are not supposed to change.  This is a big plus when you do upgrades or hot packs because the transaction can change (format, required inputs etc) which means you then need to update the call transaction.
Some of the BAPIs are better documented and easier to use than others.
You usually need to perform the BAPI that actually does the COMMIT after you call your BAPI.
The Program coding for calling a BAPI is usually cleaner than setting up the screen flow etc for the Call Transaction.
You don't need to worry about special data circumstances interrupting the normal data flow of the screens and causing errors because of that.
BAPIs probably have better performance since they don't do the screen flow processing.
In general if the BAPI exists for the transaction you want to perform and you can figure out how to use it the BAPI is probably the best way to go.
This is just from my experience working with both BAPI and Call Transaction.  I have had some very good successes with BAPIs, but very occasionally found that I could not get the BAPI to perform the update I needed.

  • Different between database lock and sap lock

    Hi All,
What is different between database lock and sap lock why sap introduced locking mechanism.
    Thanks
    Santosh

From a database perspective, every dialog step forms a physical and logical unit:
the database transaction.. The database lock administration can only coordinate
this type of database transaction. From an SAP point of view, however, this is
not sufficient, because SAP transactions, which are formed from a sequence of
logically related work steps that are consistent in business terms, are generally
made up of several dialog steps. SAP systems need to have their own lock
management. This is implemented using the enqueue work process. This also
ensures that the platform-independence of the lock management is maintained.

Thanks YuliaKlimov, I can reproduce this issue, but I cannot explain the different behaviors between SSAS 2008 and 2008R2. As a workaround,
could you try to use dynamic set or create statics set but with fixed member for example:
    CREATE
    SET CURRENTCUBE.[Prior Month] AS
    [Date].[Date Key].&[20050723].PrevMember
    , DISPLAY_FOLDER = 'Relative Period Sets';
Personally, I think your set is dynamic set, because the currentmember is changed base on current selection. You can also submit this issue

    Denis Khveshchenik

Initial replication will replicate the full catalog

  • Sync-problem with 'my photo stream' between iPhone (IOS) and PC (Win7)

    Hi all,
I have a problem with the automatic sync of "my photo stream".
My photo steam on my IOS device contains 52 photos.
On my Windows computer there are only 43 photos available.
There is no logic behind the missing photos.
I took 2 more photos to test the stream. After I took the photos I've 54 photos in my album. 2 min later the upload seems to be completed because on my IOS device I've 54 photos.
I've waited for over 2 hours now and on my Windows computer there are still 43 photos. So the new ones are missing beside some missing photos in between!
    What I've already done:
    # re-install iCould on Windows computer
    # reset iPhone to factory defaults
    # several shutdown and reboots of all devices
maybe someone can help me with that problem!

On my iPhone I have 79 pictures in 'my photo stream'.

The buffer allows the stream to read a whole chunk of data, even though your program requests it one byte at a time. Reading larger chunks from a file e.g. is much faster than trying to read single bytes. Especially considering that usually, a whole cluster is read and you'd discard all but one byte, and then repeat the same...so if the buffered is faster . why there is un buffered streams?Lots of reasons. Maybe you're sure you're going to send or receive all the data in one transaction, so you don't want to waste memory on another buffer. Maybe you're sending data to a device that requires real-time input, like a robotic arm.

  • What is different between using Scriptlet and VBA

Did any know what is different between using "Insert test Scriptlet" and VBA (on Cusom Page Programmability node)?

It?s really the environment used. Scriptlets are Microsoft VB Script which is a loose scripting environment with no variable declarations, no intellisence, microhelp, etc. VBA is actually the full VB6 for applications language environment that provides a very helpful integrated development environment, variable declorations, library references, intellisence and more. VB Script generally uses less system resources, but with powerful hardware today we find that VBA meets all our needs. VBA Also easily allows the use of global modules and class files.
