Photos disappeared in iMovie project on iPad

I've got an iPad Air running IOS 8.0.2 and iMovie 2.1. I have created five videos using photos stored on my iPad successfully but with the latest two I;ve created it won't work. I created a video under the "Project" tab but when I returned to the project later all the photos had disappeared and on the timeline there are just gray areas. The text that I have added is still there, but the actual images have disappeared. What's going on?

I believe that that is just playback view, and that the bars will be black on the DVD that you burn. That is, the photos will look like they are floating on a black background like you want. You can test this by saving your iDVD project as a disk image (an option on the file menu), and then viewing the disk image on your Mac's DVD player app.

  • How do I include the photos in a imovie project to the finished dvd so the users can have access to them?

I've included alot of old photos in an iMovie project and would like to include them on the finished DVD I create with iDVD. I woud like the users to be able to have access to them so they can print them, store them on their own computer or whatever they would like to do. How would I do this?

You do this by creating a DVD-ROM section on your DVD. See this explanation from iDVD Help.
Adding files to the DVD-ROM portion of a disc
You can let viewers copy files directly from your DVD by adding the files to the DVD-ROM portion of the disc. These files are burned onto the DVD and are accessible when the disc is viewed on either a Windows PC or a Macintosh computer, but not a DVD player.
You can add any kind of file to the disc. For example, if your disc contains a slideshow, you can add the image files to the DVD-ROM portion of the disc so viewers can download them to their own computers and print them. You can also add a file containing your movie production notes and other “extras.”
To manually add files to the DVD-ROM part of your disc:
Choose Advanced > Edit DVD-ROM Contents.
    The DVD-ROM Contents window opens.
Click Add Files, or click New Folder first if you want to create a folder to put the files in.
Browse to select your files or folders, then click Open to add them to the disc.
You can also drag files directly to the DVD-ROM Contents window. When you are done, just close the window.
When you add a file to the DVD-ROM portion of your disc, before you burn the disc the project contains just a reference to the location of the file on your hard disk, not the actual file. So if you delete a file from your computer or move it from its location after adding it to the DVD-ROM contents, you get a “File not found” message when you try to burn your disc. You can either remove these missing files from the DVD-ROM contents or find them on your computer and put them back in the original location so iDVD can access them.
As you add files to the DVD-ROM contents, be sure to check the DVD Capacity meter in the Project Info window to find out how many gigabytes of disc space are being used. The Capacity meter shows the disc space taken up by the video portion of the disc as well as the DVD-ROM portion.

  • When I drag a photo into my iMovie project and press play, a video still plays and not my photos.

When I drag a photo into my iMovie project and press play, a video still plays and not my photos.

I had a similar problem, and i found that the photo was of very low resoluton. As a test I resized the image to a lrager resolution using photoshop CS4 and re saved it as JPG. I imported the new saved image and it seem to have fixed the problem.

If the pictures are on your Desktop, you can just drag them into your iMovie project.

  • HT1338 Importing iMovie Project from iPad to Mac

When I export an iMovie project from my iPad 2 to iTunes everything is fine.  Then I save it to my Mac it its fine.  When I try to open it in iMovie '09 on my Mac it won't recognize the file.  All the instructions say to use File-Import-Import from IOS.  I'm using iMovie '09 but I don't have this option.  Under File-Import I have three choices:
    1) Movies
    2) Camera Archieve
    3) iMovie HD Project
I've tried to open my Projects under all three and in all cases I can see my files but they are grayed out.
My files have been saved as .iMovieMobile files.
    Help.
    Thanks.
    Scott.

This feature only works if you have iMovie '11. iMovie '09 doesn't support it.

  • Moving photos around  within imovie project

I am creating a slide show using imovie and when I imported the folder from iphoto, it rearranged all the photos. Is there an easy way to move them around within the project? I'm using imovie'11 for the first time.
    thx

You can drag them in the iMovie project to wherever you want them.
Also, if you drag in from an iPhoto event, it seems to import in chronological order or something. However, if you create an iPhoto album, you can arrange the order in the album. When you import the album into iMovie through the iMovie Photo Browser, it will retain the order of the iPhoto Album.

  • How do I add photos to my imovie project?

When I add photos between video clips they stay there, but when I press play, a still frame from either the video clip before or after is shown in the pictures place.  Can someone please direct me as to how I may fix this so that I may see the actual photos I add when I press play?

I've read about this issues in many threads - unfortunately, I haven't followed them, what's the solution of that. I know, the older versions of iMovie (08,09,11) had a very … 'special' way of storaging stills in projects - my assumption was, that too much of 'heavy trial'n error'-editing could confuse this system.
… Haven't checked, how actual iM-X is handling it.
    My first attempt would be:
When you EXPORT this project - is the photo in, or not?

  • Audio/still photos in an iMovie project

Hi, I am working on a project where I will videotape someone speaking. I hope to have some of the project be video of her speaking, as well as still photos and other video included. BUT I would like to have the person speaking the entire time. In other words, she will be sharing a story and at times I will show photos and/or video of what she is talking about. What is the easiest way to do this? Do I just videotape the whole thing and then extract audio and delete clips and put the still photos in where I've deleted clips? Will that work and keep the audio on track when I return to the person speaking? Thanks for your help!!!!

Yep you got it! You can leave the video, just use "paste over at playhead"

  • Downloading iMovie project to iPad 2

I have several completed movie projects stored in iMovie. Wondering if there is any procedure to follow to download them in my iPad 2 ?
    Thanks.

I think the OSX version has to be updated to allow for that but you could always try.

  • Photos disappear from book project

Producing a photo book in iphoto.
The project looks complete i.e. there is a photo on all pages with no blanks.
After quiting iphoto and reopening iphoto some photos and text are missing in the project.
Does iPhoto auto save or must I save the project before quiting iPhoto?
I uploaded what appeared to be a full project for a book but upon checking with apple there were some blanks.  Apple cancelled the charges.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Arthur

After quiting iphoto and reopening iphoto some photos and text are missing in the project.
no error messages and accessed from macbook
Are the missing photos only gone from the book album or also gone from the library?
The only other way I know of, that photos can vanish from your iPhoto library, if you do not access the library from outside iPhoto, would be syncing with an online service, like Facebook - that could remove photos from your synced albums,  or using cleaning apps, like "clean my mac 2".

  • IMovie project photos not updating

I'm using iMovie11 with photos from my Aperture library. I use the media browser to add photos to my iMovie project. Can anyone tell me what iMovie's expected behavior should be after I'd done the following:
    1. Created an iMovie project and added photos from an Aperture album via the media browser.
    2. Did some editing of said photos in Aperture. Aperture prefs set to "Always" share previews with iLife and iWork.
    3. When the same Aperture album is viewed in the iMovie media browser, all of the green checkmarks next to the photos I had added to my iMovie project are gone (though the photos are still in the iMovie project).
    4. None of the photos in my iMovie project show my new edits.
Is this how things should work? Does this mean that I have to delete and re-add any and all photos I edit? They don't update after they've been included in an iMovie project? In this specific case, that means over 200 photos with accompanying audio clips.
Please confirm, and thank you in advance.

With iMovie 09, you would have to delete and re-add after you did further editing of photos in Aperture or iPhoto. I assume (but have not confirmed) that it works the same way in iMovie 11.
iMovie will find the photo at the path in Aperture (or iPhoto) with all current edits. It will "capture" it in a format suitable for video (e.g. 1920x1080), and it is available to the iMovie Project for you to do further color correction in iMovie. It will not go back and check for changes.
In general, your workflow for the photo should be complete in Aperture or iPhoto or Photoshop before dragging into an iMovie Project.

  • Still photos disappearing and showing up in random order?!

    Hi,
I'm trying to add a series of still photos to my iMovie project, and while they're appearing correctly in the project map, they either disappear or appear in a random order when I play back the movie. Oddly enough, if I play it back a couple of times in a row, it'll pick a different random order to show the photos...if it decides to show anything at all. I don't seem to be having the photo duration problem that other people seem to have (knock on wood), but this seems really weird. Is there a setting I'm missing?
Thanks in advance for any help!
    Mardie

I may be mistaken, but it appears that you are trying to add stills to an iMovie Trailer template. Unfortunately, the Trailer templates only allow the insertion of video clips. The way around this limitation is to convert the Trailer to a normal project, then you can add stills and/or edit the project in the normal way. At the points where you wish to add stills, just leave the animatics in place. When the Trailer is converted, simply replace the animatics with your own stills.
To convert the Trailer, go to iMovie's menu and select File>Convert to Project. It's best to duplicate the Trailer first. To do this, in Project Library view, right-click (or Control-click) on the name of the Trailer. From the pop-up menu select Duplicate Project, then convert the duplicate to a normal project.

  • Transfer iMovie Project from Mac to iPad

Hoping someone could help me. I created an iMovie project on my friends Mac and want to transfer it to my iPad, however my iPad is linked to my personal make and iTunes account at home, so I was wondering if there was a way to load 'just' the 'one' iMovie Project I created on my friends Mac without having to do any sort of syncing (since my iPad is tied to my own Mac/iTunes at home)? Thank you
