Photos disappeared on iPad 4
I transferred (not sure if it is a sync) thousands of photos from iPad 4 to iphoto on old macbook OS 10.6.8. Worked fine, but now photos on iPad is empty, though I know all pics are still there (can see in settings, access via apps, etc.). How to see them again in Pictures (sunflower icon), arranged in albums?
Photo Stream only holds 30 days of photos on the server and your iOS device only holds 1000 Photo Stream photos (the oldest will be replaced). If you sign out of iCloud, when you sign back in you will lose the 1000 photos except for the last 30 days. Did you sign out of iCloud (or restore) on the iPhone recently?
Try taking a photo on the mini and see if it syncs to the iPhone.
Photo Stream is a sync tool, not a backup. It is always smart to transfer your photos to your computer for archiving & backup.

My photos disappeared from the cloud and from my iPad
All of a sudden a chunk of photos disappeared from my iPad, which is synchronized with iCloud.
First drag the ? off the dock about 2 inches and let go. It should diappear with a poof.
Next, double click the hard drive icon and open the Applications folder. Is iTunes there?
If not, you will have to reinstall it. Do you have a backup?
If you do find iTunes in the Applications folder, click on it once and drag it to the Dock where the ? used to be. -
When you import photos from your iMac to your ipad, do those photos disappear from the iMac??
No. Syncing albums from your computer to your iPad copies the photos to your iPad but leaves them on the computer.

Importing new Photo events from iPad to iPhoto '11
Hi,
I've recently bought the iPad Camera Connection Kit and I used it to import some photos from my camera: this process ended up creating a new event named with the date of the import (I haven't found a way to rename it so far) and an album called "Last import".
I thought that the new event would have been transferred to iPhoto '11 during the next sync with my MacBook. However I found out that's not so: I tried syncing my iPad both via wifi and USB, but the new event doesn't show up in iPhoto '11.
What should I do? Even clicking on "iPad", in iPhoto '11, it shows me only the photos that are in the camera roll...thank you very much for helping me!
I eventually found out the solution to my problem: however I think it's really non-userfriendly and complicated.
I'll explain everything so that it can be useful for others who are in the same situation as me: I eventually found out that in iPhoto (on the Mac) you see all the photos in your iPad Camera Roll plus all the photos you've imported via the Camera Connection Kit (but they are all mixed up, not divided into albums/folders/whatever...). So if you want to import to iPhoto on your Mac the new photos that are on the iPad you have to manually select them in iPhoto an click on "Import selected...". Then you can rename the event and do whatever you want.
But that's nat all: when you re-sync your iPad iTunes "detects" a new event in iPhoto so it is automatically transferred into the iPad......so you end up by having (on the iPad) two events that contain the same identical photos: the one created automatically when the photos where imported through the Kit and another one imported during the sync process. In order to delete the first one you have to go to Albums and tap on "Last Import", than you have to manually select all the photos and finally delete them: in this way the event "magically" disappears.
I don't know if I've been clear enough but, as the whole process i so complicated, I think there's no other way to explain it.
However I'm very disappointed and in my opinion this is a really frustrating thing that Apple should fix asap!! -
Photos missing from ipad that were there this morning
Yesterday I lost my iPhone. It has not been found and must be turned off.
I had hundreds of photos on the iPhone that were synced with iCloud.
THis morning I was able to see those images on my iPad and so was happy they were not lost. tonight I went into photos in my iPad and the photos are no longer there.
Where did the photos go and how do I get them back?
All my contacts and notes still seem to be synced.
Please help.Yes iCloud is being used. It syncs my photos mail notes etc with my iPhone and iPad.
LIke me I said yesterday morning I could see photos taken on my iPhone on my ipad. Later that night when the phone went missing the photos have disappeared.
i Checked and in the settings I have auto backup turned on. -
HOw can I export photos from my iPad or iPod to my main computer? My old computer died with my photos on it but I want to move my photo library from my iPad or iPod to the computer I just bought. Thanks for any help you can give.
Sorry but your iPhoto library is not on an iPad or iPod - you may have photos there (most likely low resolution copies) but not an iPhoto library - dying computers (along with software and human errors) are why you always must have a backup - now is the time to load it

HT204022 Cannot delete photos from new iPad
When I hit edit and then select the photos, the red delete button does not become active to allow me to delete. Any ideas as to what I should do? I just got the new ipad today and restored it to my old ipad 2 via my MacBook. It's like I don't have permission or something. Can't seem to find a way to delete these photos from my ipad.
Where are the photos you are trying to delete?
If they are in the Camera Roll you should be able to delete them on the iPad.
But if they are in albums that were copied to you iPad by syncing with your computer you need to do another sync but before you click on Sync deselect the albums you no longer want on the iPad. Then click on Apply or Sync. -
I'm surprised that I couldn't find a prior post about this. I bought the adapter that let's you upload photos directly to iPad (which I like a lot - can view/thin/email pics from the road). But when you sync to a PC laptop, it uploads them into my docs as iThmb files. Anyone know if there is either a settings solution to change import type...or software app that will convert a selection of ithmb files jpeg? I don't care about opening them in ithmb and don't want to convert file at a time. someone hipper than me must know how to do this
An .ithmb file is the format used to store pictures on an iPod. There are several applications that can open .ithmb files such as File Juicer and Keith's iPod Photo Reader

My friend sends me photos from his iPad 2 via email. However, when they arrive in my inbox on my iPad 2, the photos do not show up. I receive 20-some characters. Please advise as to the problem.
Try sending them via the Messages app as opposed to E-mail.
E-mail shouldn't normally be a problem, but Messages will do as a soloution.
To do so:
. You need iOS 5
1. Go to your Photo Gallery
2. Open up the album/ images you want to send
3. Press the share button (top right hand corner)
4. Select 'Send as Message' (not e- mail)
5. Select your friends Apple ID from your address book for his iPad
6. Voila!
- it's something along those lines...... my iPad is downstairs atm, but the actual way of doing it will be similar...... ! -
Deleted Photos from iPhone still show up in Photo Stream on iPad: iOS 6
Okay, I've done a lot of searching and can't find any solution for this. I'm on iOS 6 on all devices, so none of the iOS 5.x article / discussions apply.
I have my iPhone 5, my wife has an iPhone 4, we have an iMac, and an iPad 2. Here's the situation. We use iCloud and Photo Stream is enabled on all four devices, and all share a single Apple ID.
I have many photos (let's say 100) I've taken on my iPhone 5 over the last several months, and with Photo Stream enabled, they were automatically copied to all of my other devices. Great. Now, I'd like to delete let's say 20 of those photos. On my iPhone 5, I go to "My Photo Stream" and mark all 20 of them and delete them. I get the pop-up confirmation that they will be deleted from the Photo Stream on all my devices. Great, exactly what I want.
The photos delete from my iPhone 5, my wife's iPhone 4, and my iMac. However, they still appear on my iPad under Photos, Photo Stream, and under Events (September 2012 Photo Stream, October 2012 Photo Stream, November 2012 Photo Stream events). I can not delete them from my iPad.
I have tried:
1. Selecting each photo, there is no option to delete
2. Selecting edit, and then selecting a photo, the delete button is disabled
3. Disabling Photo Stream on my iPad, and rebooting. All photos in "My Photo Stream" on iPad are deleted, but not the photos that were sourced by other devices, they still appear under Photos, Photo Stream, and the monthly Photo Stream events
So... How do I delete these photos from my iPad?
Cheers,
GoudaOkay, finally figured out what was going on. Positng the solution here in case it might help someone else with a similar problem.
Here's what was happening:
1. iPhone5/iPhone4/iPad/iMac all had iCloud + Photo Stream so Photos were shared
2. iMac was setup with iPhoto to automatically import and save Photo Stream photos
3. iPad was setup to wirelessly sync all albums from iPhoto
So, when photos were shared using Photo Stream to iMac, it would backup to an album in iPhoto, and sync to the iPad. Deleting the original photo on the iPhone would delete the photo from the Photo Stream on all devices, but it had already been added to a permanent album in iPhoto (e.g., "September 2012 Photo Stream"). This album was then automatically synced to the iPad. So, deleteing the photo from Photo Stream would clear it from the iPhones, but not the iPad.
To delete the photos:
1. Delete the photo from "My Photo Stream" in the source device (the device used to take the picture), this will delete it from the active Photo Stream on all devices
2. On the iMac, go into the automatically created monthly Photo Stream events, and delete the photos from there
3. In iTunes, initiate a Sync with the iPad, which will update the syncronized albums/events there, removing the photos on the iPad as well
Hope that's able to help someone in the future...
Cheers,

Problem with photo download to iPad mini
I am using the Apple adapter to download photos to my iPad mini using the SD card adaptor and for some reason not all for checked photos available to be downloaded. There seems to no pattern as to which photos it choses not to download
If you go to Settings->Cellular Data you can turn off the cellular functionality of your iPad there.

My Olympic camera SD card doesn't fit into the SD card camera reader. Apple advised me to purchase the product in order to import photos to my IPad. How do I over ride this problem. How do I import photos from an Olympus FE-340 directly to my IPad?
Your camera uses an OLympic XD picture card http://www.amazon.com/Olympus-xD-Picture-Memory-202332-package/dp/B002LC2DQ4/ref =pd_sim_sbs_p_1 This card has different dimensions compared to an SD card.
You should be able to plug the cable that came with your camera into the camera connection kit to import the pics.

I cannot get my photos on my ipad 1. I don't remember if I exported then on the device that was stolen
Thanks for your reply roaminggnome.
As i mentioned above the computer that was being used for iTunes as well as my back ups is no longer operational this is why I bought a new one. I have read several times that the iPhone is a mirror etc but if this is the case how come my Camera Roll, Apps, Contacts, Text Messages and purchased music was transferred to my new computer via my iPhone but not the photo library that I had added to it? I guess my question is why did these get deleted? Where did they go? and can I retrieve them?
No I haven't used iCloud either.
Thanks in advance
