Photos disappearing after 3.1.1 update

Hey guys,
I just updated my Aperture to 3.1.1. I did a full backup beforehand. When I start it up, in the "Photos" view (between Projects" and "Photos" in the Library source pane on the left side of the window), I can't see any of my pictures. Before I updated, this worked, it was how I usually viewed my photos. Is anyone else having this problem?
My library had gotten quite large, so I split off my photos from before July 2009 (~5000 or so) and put them on a backup drive. I backed them up (export smart album as new library) and then deleted them from the main library. That seems to have contributed to the problem -- when I hold option on startup (of Aperture) to select an alternative library, I can still see all my photos in the "Photos" view in the full backup and the pre-2009 photos library backup -- just not in the newer, slimmer library.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I seem to have solved the problem --
I tried removing com.apple.Aperture.plist from ~/Library/Preferences. This did not solve the problem. Then I started up Aperture holding down command-option. I ran "Repair Permissions" without success. I ran "Repair Database" without success. As a last resort, I ran "Rebuild Database" and this seems to have fixed the problem for now.

All my Photos disappeared after I saved a photo to Iphoto from an email from my wife. I am running Mountain lion on Mac book pro 2012, help. What did I do wrong?

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • X11 disappearance after 10.4.11 update

X11 app disappeared after 10.4.11 update.
Spotlight can't find it on the hard drive.
Trying to re-install => error message "later version of X11 still installed...".
    Thanks for your help

Finally, I've got the solution by re-installing X11 from the original DVD (and not from a downloaded package).
    R is now running.

  • Photos disappeared after sync

    Situation:
I have synced my photos from my iphone to my macbook pro laptop. There are around 1500 photos. After syncing, iphoto asked me whether I want to delete the original from my iphone, that I select yes. After I clicked yes, iphoto went to not responding. So I quit iphoto.
However once I have reopened iphoto, the new photos that i have synced into iphoto disappeared. They were just not there. So I reconnect my iphone. And deselect 'hide photos which are already synced'. Than I have found just less than 400 pictures left.
    Question:
How can I retrieve those 1100 photos? or where did those photos go?
    Information:
    iphone-4s and updated
    iphoto 09
Laptop: Mac OS X version 10.6.8|2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo|4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Please help me, iphoto has never done this before, and I am trying my best not to panic.

If you don't have a backup to fall back on which is the best solution try the following (assuming your using iPhoto 9 [11]): apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2

4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.

The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If you're running iPhoto 8 (09) the process is the same, only the windows that come up are different.

  • Photos disappearing from Flickr albums since update

Since the update, some of my published Flickr albums are suffering from some sort of attrition. I have an event with 75 pictures, which I published to Flickr just fine (pro account, uploading original sizes). Now every time I click on it in iPhoto, it spins the "update" icon next to it, and a couple photos disappear out of the Flickr album, both in iPhoto and on Flickr's site itself. The album is down to 63 items now. The original photos in the iPhoto library are unaffected, it's just in the Flickr album.
Anyone experiencing similar problems since the last update, or have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Yup, it shows up fine. The problem is at the publication stage when making a new Flickr album in iPhoto; not all photos are being published, which is where the problems start.
There seems to be no rhyme or reason to which photos aren't published. All the original photos, both in my iPhoto library and in Finder, are present and accounted for. Sometimes, they publish fine to Flickr, but later disappear from the iPhoto Flickr album so get re-downloaded from the Flickr website into my library, creating duplicates since the original photos are untouched.
I'm quite baffled by the problem, and frustrated since I got married a week and a half ago and have dozens of people nagging me to see the photos. The only thing I haven't tried is publishing them in a lower resolution, which even if it works isn't exactly the ideal solution; original file size publication is why I pay for a Flickr account.

  • Photos disappeared after renaming them

My photos on photobooth disappeared after I renamed them. I clicked on "reveal in finder" and after I renamed them, I could no longer find them. Any idea where I should look?

  • WiFi disappears after 10.7.5 update on iMac

I posted this in the iMac drops wi-fi connection after 10.7.4 update, but it occurs to me that this might be a different problem.  I was having problems with my wifi dropping connection under 10.7.4 just like most of the people in the other thread.  I tried all of the "fixes" suggested, but nothing worked.  Then apple came out with the 10.7.5 update with claims that it would improve wifi reliability, so I installed the update and my wifi disappeared entirely.  I could not turn it on from system configuration, and when I clicked on the wifi icon, it read "no hardware installed".  The only way I could connect to my "wireless" router was to install a wire!
Luckily, I have a back up drive so I reinstalled 10.7.4, and my wireless network (and those of my neighbors) reappeared under the wifi icon.  I don't know if I will have the same disconnecting problems as before because I'm going to leave the cable installed until apple figures this whole mess out.  One giant technological leap backwards!
    Anyone else had this experience?
Maybe 10.7.6 will fix it ???

Hey there. I had the same issue as soon as I updated to 10.7.5 (Lion) on Friday morning. After spending countless hours troubleshooting my router and my MacBook Air, talking to Apple Care, visiting the Genius at the store and searching the forums/net for an answer, I got the issue fixed. I also use a Netgear router and there are a couple of issues with the update, one being that it doesn't work with the old Netgear firmware.  Here's a complete step-by-step on how to get it resolved. My internet is working flawless now for a few hours and faster than before.
    1. Update Netgear Firmware: If you can't of course do this from your laptop, try another device (phone, iPad, tablet, etc...).
Enable the Wi-Fi, connect to the router, and go to:
http://192.168.1.1  Type in username: admin password: password
Should automatically tell you there is a new software update. If not, go to Router Upgrade.
    2. Go to Wireless Settings (in Netgear): --> CHANGE CHANNEL to 3 or 9. --> CHANCE SECURITY to WPA2-PSK [AES]
    3. Let it refresh. (Wi-Fi goes offline and then back on).
    4. Go to Network Preferences on the MacBook (or laptop device) ---> Advanced --> and delete your router from the preferred list.
    5. Go to Macintosh HD (hard drive) --> LIBRARY --> PREFERENCES --> SYSTEM CONFIGURATION --> and under developer, DELETE the following three (3) files:
    com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
    com.apple.network.identification.plist
    NetworkInterfaces.plist
    6. RESTART the computer.
    7. Go to Network Preferences: At the top, click on LOCATIONS and add a new one. Call it whatever you want. Then make sure when you are done, that it is now working off the NEW location.
    8. At the left, you see the pane that has the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth or whatever device listed. Click on the gear at the bottom --> SET SERVICE ORDER.  Again, make sure the Location is the new one you just created. Choose Wi-Fi.
    9. Connect to your router: Make sure you are using the NEW location.
    10. RESTART computer.
Check and make sure you are connected. If you aren't connected, let me know.
    Just an FYI:
If you call Apple Care (whether you are in warranty or not) let the first POC (verification department) know you are calling about a software update issue. They will transfer you to tech support. Once they transfer you, tell the tech specialist you want to be transferred to the Wi-Fi specialists. Yes, they actually have a team of Wi-Fi specialists!!
Most of the steps I got from reading the Apple forums here. The only thing I didn't see anywhere was to change the channel to 9. She said it might get busy so remember the channel setting process and change to 3 or vice versa.
Don't listen to any of these that say download this patch or revert to 10.7.4, etc... Just keep 10.7.5 and do these things.
Hope it helps! Let me know

  • USB Hard Drive Disappears after 10.6.3 update

My Samsung S2 640 GB USB portable hard drive is missing from Desktop, Finder and Disk Utility-- but visible in System Profiler after 10.6.3 update. It was fine before the update.
Plugged directly into rear of iMac, I changed cables and slots-- no joy. Even tried a double USB cable as there is no external power supply.
Four other USB HDs work just fine in all slots om the iMac , and this Samsung S2 works fine in my MacBook SL 10.6.3
I bought an identical Samsung S2 and it had the same problems-- so it's not the drive.
    Suggestions?

Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk.
    Restart your computer when done.

  • Text disappear after flash and windows update

    Hi,
I'm living a strange exprerience from the last windows software update (after i update even flash, to ensure that there was not a compatibility problem) , i can't display some fonts if I choose the option "anti-alias for reliability" , for example for the joeHand 2 , but the text came out again if I choose "bitmap" or "use device fonts" as display option.
This seams a problem with this particular font, but appears only after an automatic windows update, and is not valid for every font.
    Someone resolve/had a similar problem?
    Thank you
    Riccardo

  • Photos disappear after every reboot

    Hello everyone, I need help!
Everytime I reboot my phone, My photos disappear and have to "restore". When i click on the Photos icon, They slowlyyyyyy reappear. Sometimes it even takes over an hour. There is a little spinning wheel that moves and next to it says "Restoring...". This happens every single time and its driving me insane. I have over 3,000 picutres on my phone, how do i get this to stop?
I now have an iPhone 5C on version 7.0.6, but i was having the same issue on my iPhone 5 on version 7.0.4.

Uninstalled ZoneAlarm Pro. No change. Uninstall BitDefender. Works perfectly.

  • Photos disappear after upload

I'm having problems with my pictures disappearing after I publish them. They show up fine in iWeb but I just get a broken picture icon when I view my site online. It seems like they're not being added to the files folder in order to upload but I can't figure out how to correct the issue.
    Thanks in advance.

Your logo doesn't show up on the index page because the file (logo_1.jpg) is actually in the index_files folder but it's being looked for in the Images folder. Similarly, oneweek_to_go3.JPG, the image which should appear in your '1 Week to Go' blog entry, is missing from the Images folder where it is expected to be. Have you at any time manually moved any of your image files around after publishing to your folder and before uploading?

  • Photos disappeared after update to Mavericks...

I updated to Mavericks last night and then updated to the new iPhoto (had iPhoto '09). When I opened it, everything seemed ok except one Event with about 700 photos was missing, and it's probably the most important one I have. Then, I closed it and opened it again and the Event reappeared but with just 10 of the photos in it. I kept doing it, and each time I did so, 10 more photos would magically appear. This kept going until it got to 115 and then it stopped. I can't figure out what happened. What do I need to do?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards

  • All photos disappeared after it told me to update

I tried opening aperture, but it told me it needed to update and that i wouldnt be able to open this photo library with an older version of aperture.
i dont really know what this meant, so i went through with it. it took  no more than 10 seconds, but when i re-opened, all my photos were gone except for one project. can someone PLEASE help me?

You can have as many Aperture libraries on your computer as you want, but the library is specific to the version of Aperture that created it.
If you've Aperture 2, but download a "Trial" copy of Aperture 3, then Aperture 3 would have created a new library (the licensed version will upgrade your Aperture 2 library but the "trial" version will not... it'll create a 2nd library.)
I'm thinking you've got two versions of Aperture and more than one library and are trying to open an Aperture 3 library with Aperture 2 software.
Go into your "Applications" folder and check to see if you have more than one version of Aperture installed.  If so, you should probably remove Aperture 2.  If you highlight the icon, right click and select "Get Info" you can check the version.  If your software is fully up-to-date then Aperture 3 should show it is version 3.1.2.

How do you do that? I updated to the latest iphone update last night and i have lost everything. Plugged it into itunes this morning and managed to get my contacts back. The only thing i could get from icloud was from photo stream, 9 photos compared to over 1500 i had on there.
