Photos do not sync properly

I am having some curious trouble with photos syncing properly from an iPhoto album to my iPhone 3GS.
I have an album with 6 photos.  I edited all six photos in iPhoto using "Edit in External Editor".  After editing and saving, the photos show in the iPhoto event the way I want them, as well as in the album in question.
However, when I sync the phone in iTunes, the photos in the album show up as before they were edited.  They do not sync properly.  They look fine in iPhoto, but not on the phone.
I have tried the following things to make this work.
I have deleted all the photos in the album, unchecked the album in iTunes under Photos, and synched.  Then I added the edited photos to the album again, checked the album in iTunes under Photos and synched again.  This did not work.  The photos still show up as before the edit.
I unchecked the album again in iPhoto, synched the phone and then did a reset of the phone by pressing the sleep/wake button and the Home button at the same time and waiting until the Apple logo appeared again.  I then checked the album in iTunes again, and synched.  This also did not work.
Lastly, I deleted the album entirely in iPhoto, and recreated the album from again by choosing the edited photos in question inside the event, and then hitting the "+" button in the lower left of the iTunes window.  This also did not work.
The weird thing is, that I have also edited at least one other photo in a differnt album, which then synched properly.
I hope somebody has an idea as to how to fix this.

look, in all these 2000 things you tryed there is one thing i don't thing you did actually try, which is to rename the photos in the album.
This did not work either.
sometimes it may hapen that you cannot sync properly if you have strange names or sometimes the itunes doe not see the files properly.
Strange names?  What do you consdider to be strange names?  "Sometimes iTunes does not see the files properly"?  Where do you get that idea?
try renaming 'em and see if it works. you can also rename the folder with the photos.
Renaming the photos does not work.  Renaming the event (that is what you mean I think) does not work either.
also, another thing; try to select your photos in iphoto and take them off with the mouse and put them in a folder in some other location in teh computer (like for example the desktop) and sync them from taht location in itunes, it may help.cheers!
This is complete nonsense.  Photos have to be in an album in iPhoto in order to be synched with the iPhone via iTunes.  Putting photos anywhere else on the computer does not allow them to be synched with the phone.  They must be in iPhoto.

  • The New Photo App Not Syncing Properly

I've been pulling my hair out over the last week or so with the new Photo's in the iCloud and how the online database won't sync properly.
This is how I went about the upgrade.
I have a Mac Mini which has been for the past several years drawing down my family's photo's and video etc from all out devices using iPhoto. This has worked very nicely. I've been adding pictures from my stream into albums etc with about 200 or so. All files are stored locally of course in organized folder which is then back up on to a external drive.
After the latest update I opened the new Photo app and it started to convert my library over and started to upload all the photos, some 15000 pictures and a few hundred videos. I started to check my iPad and iPhone which is where I started to see problems, missing albums, missing photos, duplicates etc. Before anyone asks I emptied my trash in iPhoto before I updated as I had read about the new app pulling all the photos from trash in too.
After several days of stopping and starting my iPhone and iPad looked like it should with my albums and the correct amount of files. I checked the online iCloud Photos through my browser which also match, but I had all the old iPhoto months and daily libraries still showing despite me organizing my libraries not to group the photos in these old style albums.
At this point I also looked back on my Mac Mini to find that all the libraries had totally disappeared and there seemed to be a couple of thousand files missing, ie my ipad, iphone and online coun which is at something like 15,634 files and the Mac Mini Photo app was showing about 13,450. Plus, it was now saying uploading some 24,000 files but was in fact doing nothing.
At this point I decided to turn my main iMac on and see if I could get the databases to pull down from the iCloud to see if it matched. Three days later it's stuck at some 3200 files and saying it's still adding 15,000 files. I then went back on to my Mac Mini and started a fresh version of Photo and it's now stuck in the same state as the iMac saying it's adding file but nothing is changing.
    Please help.

How did you import the photos?
Are the missing photos perhaps referenced? Then they cannot upload to iCloud.
You can check with a smart album, if you have any photos in the library, that cannot upload to iCloud.

  • My Photo Stream not syncing properly

When i delete photos from 'My Photo Stream' on my Iphone, it deletes it from 'My Photo Stream' on my laptop. Is this correct? The reason i ask is that my understanding of this is that it should all sync 'live'. But, if i delete photos from 'My Photo Stream' on my laptop, it remains in 'My Photo Stream' on my Iphone.
    Confusing.
I would prefer it if ''My Photo Stream' on my laptop was static so i have a backup of all photos taken. Is this possible?

See this document:  iCloud: How to delete photos from Photo Stream
The reason i ask is that my understanding of this is that it should all sync 'live'. But, if i delete photos from 'My Photo Stream' on my laptop, it remains in 'My Photo Stream' on my Iphone.
Deleting the photos from Photo Stream will delete them from iCloud, if that photo is still in iCloud. The photos will only be in iCloud for a month.  So if you delete an older photo from Photo Stream, the change may not be applied to other devices, since they will see no change in iCloud.
Also photos you already saved from the Photo Stream will not be deleted, if you delete a photo from Photo Stream.
I would prefer it if ''My Photo Stream' on my laptop was static so i have a backup of all photos taken. Is this possible?
Set the preferences on your Laptop to automatically download from the PhotoStream.  Are you using iPhoto on your Laptop? All photos saved from the Photo Stream to monthly events by automatic download will stay in your iPhoto library, when you delete photos from the Photo stream on your devices.

  • Photo Stream not syncing properly

I have had issues with this from the very beginning but after reading about others issues and trying their solutions I have had some success. However it's still not working exactly as it should.
I have turned it off and on - on both my computer and iPhone as well as reset it on the website. This finally did allow the phots on my phone to download to my computer but I still haven't had any success with the upload from computer to iPhone. Everything is in the proper folder for uploading. I have even tried changing the folder it uploads from within the iCloud Control Panel but still no success. I have since changed it back to the original upload folder. I just cannot get them to upload even after waiting 2 hours after each change. I have even gone in to my firewall and given permission to all the apple files I can find.
Anyone have any ideas of what to try next?

  • Photo's not syncing

    Hi all,
Hoping someone can help me as I can't see what I am doing wrong here.
New iPad arrive this morning (woo hoo), however the photo's are just not syncing properly and never had any issues with the iPad 1. My photos are stored on an external hard drive and iTunes is set up to sync from the folder names 'Pictures' and then 'All folders'.
When I press the sync button it analyses the library etc and it shows that there are 3009 photos in total however it doesn't import all of them, in fact the last attempt it only important 6 picutres from one folder and there were a good 150 in there!
I have searched help and deleted the cache folder etc but it's still not doing me any good.
    Any help?!
    Thank you

I had the very same problem. iTunes synchronized a few pictures, and then just stopped. I was able to manually progress, though found out that I needed to double-check everything because additionally, pictures got mixed up (right preview picture, wrong picture when choosing it, and so on).
What appears to be a stable workaround for me is reducing image size. For that, I chose 2048 pixels for the longes side of the picture, to match the display, and this reduced size/resolution has solved all the problems I had - synchronizing pictures works without any hiccups. (I can't be sure if the problem is dependent on the hardware configuration, of course).

  • ICal not syncing properly w/ iPod Touch

I believe this is an iCal problem, not an iPod issue:
My new iPod Touch is not syncing properly with my iCal calendars. I notice after syncing "All Calendars" that some of my appointments in iCal were showing up, but most were not. And some events on my iPod were not on my laptop. I tried the "Replace Information" option under Info in iTunes, but it didn't help. Then I noticed something even weirder -- the list of Calendars that appears in the "Selected Calendars" list in iTunes is NOT my current set of calendars. The iTunes list includes some calendars that I have deleted or renamed, and is missing some new ones. So I guess I'm not surprised by the events being out of sync, but how can this be? How can iTunes be picking up an obsolete set of calendars and events?
I tried a backup within iCal, then deleted every calendar one-by-one, leaving just a new calender named "empty". I quit iCal and iTunes, and also deleted four files in my Prefs folder and the iCal folder in Application support. Then I did restored from my iCal backup, and quit and restarted both iCal and iTunes. After all that, iTunes still shows the old list of calendars.
I'll also mention that iCal itself has been very squirrelly for quite a long time. Every so often it will just "run away", chewing up CPU and memory until I force-quit. Haven't solved that one, yet, either.
    Any suggestions?

PROBLEM SOLVED: I backed up my iCal data (from within iCal); quit; deleted all prefs, iCal cache files, and the whole Calendars folder in my Library; then relaunched iCal and Restored from my backup file. iTunes then showed the correct list of calendars when I connected my iPod touch, and I got a proper sync. Who knows, maybe this will also fix the frequent runaway crashes I've been having.

  • Sync between MacBookPro and iPhone 3G does not sync properly.  Calendars duplicate events but worse is that only contacts from Address book from letter T onwards sync.  Any contacts on iPhone which are not on Mac are lost during sync.

Sync between MacBookPro and iPhone 3G does not sync properly.  Calendars duplicate events but worse is that only contacts from Address book from letter T onwards sync.  Any contacts on iPhone which are not on Mac are lost during sync.
    Solutions?

No, I never really found an easy solution.  I believe it is an issue with some corruption in the iTunes database on the specific device.  In my case, both my iPad and iPhone now show duplicate stream songs if viewed through iTunes on my Mac, but they show different songs.  A couple years ago I had a similar issue on my iPhone, and Apple support suggested I back up the phone, completely reset it, and then restore it from the backup.  It did work, so I imagine it would probably work for my current issues with the iPhone and iPad.  But resetting and restoring an iPad or iPhone always makes me a little nervous that something will get lost.  When I did reset/restore the iPhone, I do have to say, the restore process was 100% perfect and I did not lose any data at all even though Apple support said I might.  If you try to go that route, I would suggest backing the device up both to a computer through iTunes, and to the iCloud so that you have a double backup.
None of this really resolves the issue with how the iTunes databases are becoming corrupted on the apple devices though, so it is very likely to happen again until they fix it.  I have been unable to determine if there were any specific actions or conditions which caused the corruption to happen in the first place.
Might be worth another call to Apple support, or dropping in the local Apple store if you have one near by.

  • My ipod touch is not syncing properly.

My Ipod touch is not syncing properly.  I download podcasts and it will not allow me to delete some shows after they have been listened to.  It is a neverending cycle of deleting unwanted podcast episodes from itunes on the computer, plugging in my ipod, syncing, and then it always takes the already listened to episodes, and puts them back into itunes on the comp.  I then delete them on the comp again, sync the ipod, and it again pulls them over from the ipod.  I have it set up to only sync unlistened to episodes, and beyond that, only checked things, but it does not seem to matter.  The only thing I can do to get the episodes off the ipod for good is to do a factory reset, and that absolutely should not be necessary!  Any ideas for something I am not seeing that is allowing this to continually happen?  This just started happening a couple of months ago.  Not sure what changed, but would like it fixed!  Thanks for any ideas in advance!

I have a similar problem, all since the ios update i think, my podcasts do not seem to sync, I have a song purchase via the ipod which no longer plays (just sits on the screen) this also doesnt sync back to itunes.
Its a complete mess. Seems everytime Apple push out an update my ipod becomes less useable.

  • Address Book Contact Photos will not sync over to iPhone 2G

So here is the deal. I just bought a new 21.5" iMac w/ Snow Leopard. I had a iMac G5 with Leopard previously and rather than using migration assistant, i just copied over the applicable folders and files (per my research) so that my contacts would be present on the new computer. Everything seems fine except the contact photos will not sync over to my iPhone. Has anyone run across this? Help is greatly appreciated!

  • My photos will not sync to my Apple TV (1st generation), ipad, iphone, or itouch. They used to be there but upon recent syncs with all devices they have all gone. I am totally baffled as I have not changed settings?

My photos will not sync to my Apple TV (1st generation), ipad, iphone, or itouch. They used to be there but upon recent syncs with all devices they have all gone. I am totally baffled as I have not changed settings?

I had the same thing happen to me.  It's a bug in iPhoto 9.4.2.
The first time you run iPhoto after upgrading to iPhoto 9.4.2, it "updates the iPhoto library".  This sometimes tickles a bug where iTunes can see all your iPhoto albums, but iTunes thinks they are empty.  Since iTunes thinks all your albums are empty, it dutifully deletes any photos from your synced iOS devices.
It's easy to tell if this is the problem you are seeing.  Open iTunes and go to the photos sync panel for one of your iOS devices.  If you have multiple albums checked, but iTunes shows a total of 0 photos, then you have the problem.
I spent an hour with an Apple Genius.  he couldn't find any mention of this problem in their internal support system.  His recomendation was to reinstall the operating the system.  I suspect that this won't solve it.
The only solution I have found is to restore iPhoto 9.4.1 and the corresponding iPhoto library from your backups.
I would refrain from upgrading to iPhoto 9.4.2 until Apple has a fix for this issue.
