Photos don't come back to lr2 from cs3

I know I must be doing something wrong. But I can't figure out what. I moved a dng photo over to cs3 to edit. I edited it and said save. But I can't find it back in LR. Am I missing something? Should I hit a second button? Did it come back to LR and hide someplace?

  • Why does a .tif file come back to Lightroom2 from CS4 as a new file?

In my workflow I start with a virtual copy of a .dng file in Lightroom2, make adjustments there and then take the file to CS4 for further refinements before bringing the image back to Lightroom2 to print. When the images comes back to Lightroom2 it comes back as .tif file but doesn't replace the .dng files. I now have three files. The original, the virtual copy, and the .tif file. In Lightroom2 the sliders for the .tif file are all back to zero. The adjustments can be seen in the image, but there are no indications by the sliders that any adjustments were made. In preferences I have it set that a file coming back to Lightroom2 from CS4 comes back as a .tif file but why don't the sliders show the adjustment I made to the original image in the .tif file as well. Feels like I am starting over with a new file.

You are starting over with a new file. LR applies all the
adjustments to the DNG or VC before converting it to a (flattened) TIFF.
That's why you can see the adjustments in the new image.

  • Some things don't come back from standby?

    Howdy-
New nit picky problem here, but for once probably a windows thing and not a mega thing.  But, anyone who has put one of these together successfully has got to have some computer smarts, so I thought I would try here first.
I have finally gotten my mega to go into and return from s3 standby, waking up on input from usb wireless mouse or keyboard. The problem is that I also have a touchscreen, but it doesn't wake up.   If i reboot, it works fine.
Here is a data dump of all relevant info I can think of.  The touchscreen is seen as a second mouse, but there are no power management features in its properties. It is on com4.  It is meant for a old fashioned serial port, so I had to get a serial to usb converter cable, which came with its own drivers.  I have gone thru the device manager and unchecked "allow computer to turn off... to save power" on all of the usb related items i can find.
Is there something else that could be killing the power to this? Or any other ideas?
    thanks

Okay, still beating this dead horse. The MEGA is officially starting to affect my marriage, but there's too much $ and even more time invested to quit now.
Meturk, I think you are correct in that USB/serial converters are just not reliable.  I have seen similar claims on other websites.
Stu, the touchscreen is extremely cool. My favorite thing to do is to have it set up as a TV when the neighbors visit, and then minimize the tv screen just by tapping the screen. I have never been accused of not being enough of a geek.
Wondering if something like this would work to just add a serial port?
    http://www.dalco.com/moreinfo.cfm?&Product_ID=4931
Everything I know about building PCs I have learned from the mega (not exactly a beginner's project, is it?), so I don't know if there is a spot on the motherboard i could connect this to?  I could care less if it just hangs out the back of the mega, since it doesn't require a pci slot.
    Thoughts?

  • How do I save photos and videos with Photo Stream that don't come back to my phone once they stream to my computer?

When I take pictures they stream to iCloud and the photo stream works fine. But when I delete photos on my iphone4S they end up being put back on the phone by photo stream and or when I sync the phone.

There are a few reason why the songs might not have "matched." The bit rate is too low or too high (probably not the latter), or the files are over 200 MB. Or perhaps the songs were purchased from the iTunes Store using an account your iTunes is not authorized for.
So you can use Get info... to get all this information on the songs. If the tracks is encoded at lower than 96 Kbps it will be ineligible. One thing you can try is converting the songs to AAC, then add them to iCloud.

  • Photos don't get back into lightroom 2 after photoshop edit?

    Hi,
I'm on a mac, using LR1 for work, and testing LR2 trial. CS3 installed.
This is a really strange thing. I've searched the net, watched tutorial videos, and it still doesn't work for me....
When I'm done developing my photos, and want to take them to Photoshop - I right click, edit in CS3, do my editing, save (not save as) and close the photo. Now in LR1, and according to all the help I find - the new psd file should show up in my library, either in a stack, or next to my RAW file. Well, it doesn't.... The only way to get my psd edits back in to my catalog is to to a "synchronize folder" - which is really bad workflow... Anybody else with this problem?! I don't find any Adobe fixes, and can't see what other ways I could try now..
Hope somebody can spread some light. Thanks!
    /Kasper

I'm getting this as well. I'd really like to know how to fix it.
I note that Photoshop titles the window "filename.cr2", rather than "filename-edit.psd" as before. I also don't get the 1.x dialog "Edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments [etc]". But I only get this when editing (Canon .CR2) RAW files. If I re-edit a PSD, I get the dialog, then all is as with 1.x.

  • Gen 4 iPod touch will not come back to life from recovery mode. Plus: going to Apple store, in Japan?

    Hi everybody,
I know this is probably a commonly asked question, but I've been looking through other threads and haven't found anything that works so far.
iPod touch died a while ago and gave me the "restore me" screen. (Showing a USB cord plugging into Itunes). But, when I try to restore it won't let me.
I'm running a MacBook 5,1 with OS X 10.6.8 installed. My iPod touch is 32 GB, model Model A1367, 4th Generation.
I know it's old but if there's a chance at resurrecting, I want to give the old guy a chance.
    When I click "restore."
Itunes says that it's "extracting software," then starts switching between "verifying ipod restore with apple" and "preparing ipod for restore." The Ipod itself displays an apple with a progress bar.
Then it says "the ipod could not be restored, an unknown error occurred (40)"
I've tried a different internet connection and switching USB ports.
I also edited the "hosts file" as follows:
    # 17.151.36.30 gs.apple.com
I added this line, but I don't understand the hosts file very well. For example: no idea what the hashtag is for?
Let's see…I don't have any security software to speak of. I updated iTunes after I finally got 10.6.8 installed.
Also: I live in Japan! Japanese is not much of a problem, but I'm unsure of how much support I can get for an elderly American model. Is it difficult for an Apple stores to work with products that came from overseas, or is there that not much of a difference?
    Thank you!!

Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
The later means, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Why do my photos get blurry when they are enlarged to full screen from the disc I burn, or played on the t.v.?  I set the burn on the highest quality.  The photos don't look blurry when enlarged from iphoto on the computer.

Why do my photos that are transferred from iphoto to idvd, and then burned on DVD, look blurry when the idvd is shown full screen on computer or on t.v.  They don't look blurry when I enlarge the iphoto pics on the computer.  I used the 'prof. quality" encoding setting before burning, and before putting photos on idvd.

    Hi
DVD is as standard - only interlaced SD-Video (as on old CRT-TVs) and can never be any better than this.
This is less than a quarter of Your Mac screen resolution.
That's one part of Why You can see High res. on Your Mac - and not on DVD.
Next part is what program is used to make the SlideShow.
If You use iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 - to make it - it too degrades the final result as non of them can deliver interlaced SD-Video to iDVD but only half (every second line in the picture)
    I use
    • iMovie HD6 or
    • FinalCut (any version) or
    • FotoMagico™
As they all delivers 100% of what iDVD or Toast™ or DVD Studio Pro or Whatever needs.

  • Fillable forms come back BLANK mainly from Mac Users

    Hello,
I created a fillable form from scratch in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended version 9.3.2, using Adobe Livecycle Designer ES version 8.2.1.  I'm on Windows XP.  When I first created the form I saved it on the company server, but, I can't remember why, I had to save it on the desktop in order to distribute it (I'm not sure if this detail is important for the issue).
I sent the blank fillable form via email as an attachment to about 50 people (not in my organization) with the filename application_distributed.pdf.  Knowing the population that received it, I would say that the majority of them filled it out in Adobe Reader.  I asked them to fill it out, save it with a different name, and send it back to me.
Out of the 50 forms I got back, 40 came through fine, while the other 10 came back completely blank.  6 of these 10 people used a Mac computer (some of them said they were using "Preview", a Mac version of Adobe, according to them), a couple of them used a pc, and I wasn't able to find out about the other 2.
I sent the same form twice to a colleague who has both a pc and a Mac at home, and asked her to fill out the first one on her pc, and the 2nd one on her Mac, and to send them back to me in two separate emails.  They both came back to me filled out perfectly.
I have been scratching my head trying to figure out what the common denominator is amongst the 10 people whose form came back blank...  At the beginning, after I discovered that the first 3 people were Mac users, I thought maybe it was an operating system incompatibility issue, but when I started getting blank forms from pc users, I got more puzzled.
I was on the phone with Adobe Technical Support for a couple of hours on 5/18/2010, and they asked me to submit the form to them so they could look into it since they couldn't solve the problem by phone, but so far, 3 weeks later, I have not heard back from them.
Today I finally decided to go on this forum and ask for help.  If anybody has any idea about what the issue might be and how to solve it, I would be eternally grateful.
    Thank you!

That should work yes. Not to say that there isn't anything else that will cause this but it's the typical reason why it happens.
It shouldn't cause any conflicts in a Mac. At worst, Reader may want to open PDF's by default but they can easily switch that back by highlighting a PDF, choosing File>Get Info>Open with, choosing Preview and clicking "Change all". When I installed Reader, Mac Preview remained the default Reader until I told it to use Reader.
Mac and Windows users can get the reader at http://get.adobe.com/reader/?promoid=BUIGO. It will detect their OS and give them the correct download.
One thing, if they decide to keep Preview as their default PDF Reader then they will have to actually open Reader and use File>Open to open PDF's in Reader.

  • Problems with image names when exporting - images that have come back into lightroom from photoshop

Can anyone help ? When I need to take an image from lightroom into photoshop then back into lightroom and then I export that image, the original file number disappears and is replaced by dashes. Does anyone know how to solve this ?
    Thanks !

The appearance of dashes usually suggests some kind of pre-set e.g.

The only suggestion I can make is that you check to ensure you are using the correct parameters in the templates manager.

  • In Aperture using the external photo editor Adobe photoshop elements 10 editor.  My photo will not come back to aperture unless the photo is saved on the desktop and then imported back to Aperture. What am I doing wrong?

Using Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor as external editor in Aperture.  The issue is once i make the changes in Photoshop it request that I save (use tiff) and the photo is not update in Aperture.  What am I doing wrong?

    Marianne,
how do you save? Photoshop Elements can save either versions or overwrite the original file, afaik.
You need to set the save preferences, so that it will write to the original file and not write a version. Also the filename extension should be "tiff" and not the default "tif" (I think you did that already).

  • Why apps don't come back

Is there a serious reason for shuting down the apps section in Spotify. I am sad because I have to sign up to third party tools to do easy things like shaking a new playlist or some other easy stuff like that. Will apps be back later this year or is the apps section not alive anymore?

  • What is the easiest way to permanently delete tabs so that they don't come back

No matter what I do I can't permanently delete tabs. I will close them all and the next time I open Firefox they are still there.

    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved
It is also possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

  • Why can't I back up music from my iPhone or iPod to my iTunes?

Happy with my iPhone 4s so far, no battery issue's and an excellent phone but there is one thing I dislike with a passion.
I own more than one computer, I have desktops, laptops and netbooks and I have music I have purchased or recorded from vinyl or backed up from CD on different machines. I want to place this music and videos onto my iPhone to enjoy but when I try to get iTunes to sync it tells me it will delete the music currently on my iPhone for the new playlist? This is ********!
For example if I were to go through the lengthy process of backing up all of my music from my various computers and collections to only one PC and then making a huge playlist just for my iPhone, then my main PC breaks and dies, my only option would be to either never add more music to my iPhone or lose all of the music on my iPhone? And please don't come back with purchases from iTunes will be available, my music collection and everybody else's is much greater than an iTunes collection.
This is the dumbest feature of the iPhone in my opinion and makes functionality a pain.
Is there a work around for this problem? or do you just have to accept you lose everything in the event of a stolen computer or hard disk failure?

Put all your music in one computer liberary, network the computers to use this shared resource so that you can add and remove music from any computer on your network. You are then saving space across all your computers and will be able to keep your music archive well organized.
Back up your music on an external hard drive, USB drive, backup drive or cloud storage just like you would anything else you don't want to lose. Having the music on various computers isn't more safe than having it on one computer. If you have it on one computer and it crashes you lose everything its true, but if you have it on multiple computers you will only lose part of your library but the chances of something going wrong are now upped because you're working with 4 computers. Its good to back everything up anyways.
Sync phone with one computer that has all the networked music in its library. Live long, prosper, grow in the force, etc.
