Photos duplicating on their own

Hi,
I had around 300 photos on my iMac, (running OS X Mavericks), and whenever they I open them, or sometimes on random, they will duplicate themselves. I started with 300 original photos and by the end of 3 month, i had 5000 photos!!!! I have taken my computer to the Genius Bar 3 times and they have tried, but had no luck in fixing this image-duplicating bug. Last month, I painstakingly deleted all of the duplicates manually (as duplicate "finders" only found around 60 duplicates) and then though that they wouldn't duplicate anymore. Now, one wonth later, I have 2496 photos!!!!!!!! These photos are not in iPhoto.
Thanks if anyone can help.

Determine if the problems also persist in "Safe Mode":
Safe Mode or "Safe Boot" is a troubleshooting mode that bypasses all third party system extensions and loads only required system components. Read about it: Starting up in Safe Mode
You must disable FileVault before you can start your Mac in Safe Mode.
Starting your Mac in Safe Mode will take longer than usual, graphics will not render smoothly, audio is disabled on some Macs, and some programs (iTunes for example) may not work at all.
Merely starting your Mac in Safe Mode is not intended to resolve the problem, it's to observe its performance without certain additional components.
To end Safe Mode restart your Mac normally. Shutdown will take longer as well.

  • Bookmarks duplicating on their own

My iPad has recently started saving multiple copies of each bookmark. Some websites may have 2 copies but many have 10 or more. As soon as I delete the "extras", they come back. I cannot figure out why this is happening or how to stop it. Of course I only want one copy of each bookmark! Any help you can give would be much appreciated! Thanks! (P.S. I did notice our ASUS computer has the same problem but I first noticed it on my iPad.)

    Hey JoelCarol,
That is an interesting issue with your bookmarks duplicating. If you are using iCloud to have your bookmarks in sync with all your device, then take a look at the article below for some troubleshooting options. Make sure that everything is up to date as well as the Date &Time are set correctly on both your computer and your iPad.

How do I set up mutiple icloud accounts using my Apple ID but giving my children (and their ipod touches) their own icloud e-mail, so we do not share contacts photos etc

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Create an iCloud account for each of them.

    Yes.
On their iOS devices, under Settings>iTunes & App Store, they should use your Apple ID. When they log into iCloud, iMessage and Facetime, they should use their personal Apple IDs.

  • Users are unable to see their own profile photo although everyone else can see it in Lync 2013 client

We have Lync 2013, Exchange 2010 and several AD
    servers in mixed mode 2003/2008.
All user are unable to see their own profile photo
either in the main Lync window, in the settings or in a chat although other user can see that their photo is there and displaying. The user experiencing the issue can go open Outlook 2013 client and will see their photo displaying correctly in the file menu
    (and elsewhere) here.
I have confirmed this happens with any new users I set up as well. We have gone through a fair amount of troubleshooting with other Lync photo issues and simple fixes such as deleting the SIP cache folder etc proves to be ineffective.
Our Cs-ClientPolicy Global is set to websearchonly.
We have "Replicate this attribute to the Global Catalog" set
for the ThumbnailPhoto attribute in AD.
We are also forcing photos from AD only (or no photo) by setting the following:
    "Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity PhotosControl -DisplayPhoto
    PhotosFromADOnly"
and finally we are importing the photo in ad using this PS command:
    "Import-RecipientDataProperty -Identity "Test User"
-Picture -FileData ([Byte[]]$(Get-Content -Path "C:\pictures\testuser.jpg" -Encoding Byte -ReadCount 0))"
The pictures being uploaded are under 10KB in size.
I have followed many threads and will provide any information I can to help find the problem. Thank you in advance.
EDIT: I have also tried the following but with no success: https://knowledge.zomers.eu/misc/Pages/How-to-fix-your-photo-not-showing-up-in-the-Lync-client.aspx

    Hi Jdentremont,
Lync client gets user photos by first querying the Address Book Web Query (ABWQ) service on the server, which is exposed through the Distribution List Expansion web service. The client receives
the image file and then copies it to the user's cache to avoid downloading the image each time it needs to be displayed. The attribute values returned from the query are also stored in the cached Address Book Service entry for the user. The Address Book Service
deletes all cached images every 24 hours, which means that it can take up to 24 hours for new user images to be updated in the cache on the server.
To troubleshoot your problem, please follow the steps below:
    1.  Navigate to
     “X:\share\1-WebServices-1\ABfiles\000000000\000000000” folder. (ABS file share)
You should see some photo files in this folder as the following screenshot.
    2. Delete all the files in this folder.
    3. On test PC, delete local cache files.
    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected]
    4. Sign-in Lync with the test account.
    5. Go back to the ABS file share, check if there is any Photo file in the folder.
    Best regards,
    Eric

how can i save a photo album that i created on my iPhone 4s on my PC?  I have about 10 albums and I want to save them in their own folders on the PC.  When hooking up the phone to the PC, all i see is the individual photos.  I have an iMac and a sony vaio, so i am open to transfer on either machine.
    Thanks in advance

Have you had any luck with this? I want to do the same thing and my individual photo albums on my iPhone won't tranfer to my laptop or iPad....only the pictures.

  • How do i eliminate duplicates of my pictures? My pictures seem to be duplicating on there own. What do I need to do to prevent this?

How do I eliminate my duplicated pictures? They seem to be doing this on their own. I am not sure how this is happening.

Where are you seeing these duplicates?  In iPhoto itself or via the Finder?  If it's via the Finder then you're not getting duplicates.  iPhoto will have at least 2 copies of every photo it imports: the original file and a thumbnail file.  There can also be a modified file if you edit it.
If you're seeing the duplicates while in iPhoto there are two apps, actually one app and one Applescript script, for finding and removing duplicate photos from iPhoto. They are:
    Duplicate Annihilator
    iPhoto AppleScript to Remove Duplicates

So I basically won't run into any trouble? I
There should be no issues. Its designed to work like that.  You don't change Apple IDs just because you get a new device.

Is there any chance that the phones can fall out of sync?
Unlikely. But nothing is impossible.   Though I don;t see how that would happen. As long as both are signed into the Same Apple ID / iCloud Account they will be N'Sync. (Bad Joke)

If I get a message or buy an app or take a photo on the iPhone 5, how do I get those things onto the iPhone 6?
If you buy an App, you have 2 ways to get it to the iPhone6: If Automatic Downloads is enabled in Settings->iTunes & App Store, it will automatically download to the iPhone 6 when you buy it on the 5 and vice versa if you buy it on the 6, it will download to the 5.
Alternatively, you can simply go to the App Store App->Updates->Purchased and look for the App there and download it. Purchased Apps will not require payment again. i.e They'll be free to download to the iPhone 6 once purchased.
SMS Messages will sync over using Continuity as long as they are on the same Wifi network. Otherwise, restoring the iPhone 5 backup to the iPhone 6 will transfer all messages received up until the backup was made onto the iPhone 6.
Images, can be transferred either through Photo Stream
My Photo Stream FAQ - Apple Support
Or any Cloud service you want such as Dropbox, or One Drive.

Also, something i forgot to ask initially: Should I update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8 first or does that not matter?
If you want the Continuity features as explained above you need to update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8. Otherwise its not all that important.

  • I have two cell phone, different numbers.  Each has their own apple id.  How can i merge them so apps on one show on the other but keep their emails addresses separate on their own phone?

Have two cell phones, different numbers.  Each has their own apple id.  How can I merge them so apps purchased on one phone show on the other.  But.as each has their own email address, I want to keep these email addresses separate on their own phone?  Thanks.

We do this in my family now.  We have one account for purchases, so it is used to share music and apps (I think that is in Settings/iTunes & App Stores).  Each iDevice has this configured.
Then, each of us has our own iCloud account that is configured under Settings/iCloud.  That then allows us to have our own Mail/Contacts/Calendars/Reminders/Safari Bookmarks/Notes/Passbook/Photo Stream/Documents & Data/Find My iPhone/and Backup.  That Backup piece is pretty sweet and comes in handly if you replace your iDevice.  You can just restore from it.
So we all share the Apple Store account but we all have our own iCloud accounts to keep the rest seperate or things like you mentioned are a nightmare.
In answer to what iCloud does for you: http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/
Think of it as an internet based ("cloud") area for all of those items listed in my response.  What you need to remember is photo stream only maintans the last 1000 pictures so don't count it as a complete backup solution for your pictures.  Even though I rarely sync with a computer these days, I do still try to sync my phone with iPhoto (I have an iMac) so that I have copies of all of my pictures.  1000 may not stretch as far as it sounds.

  • Colors changed on their own!

Woah - I just opened my ical this morning and the color palette for my calendars changed, evidently on their own! Enyone else have this happen?

I've come over from the other thread mentioned above. I think someone at Apple must be colourblind; since this morning blue, red and purple seem to be interchangeable. But only on my 'work' and 'home' calendars, the other calendars keep their colours. Each time I refresh the 2 calendars change colour, the 3 attached photos are from 3 consecutive refreshes with no other change to the calendars.
Come on Apple! Sort it out!

  • Allow Camera Manufacturers to provide their own Camera "Profile"

I recently bought a Nikon D5000 DSLR and noticed that very often, the jpeg Foto Files created by the camera are ***much*** better rendered than the RAW/NEF Foto Files, as rendered by Lr. This is true both with Lr 2 and with Lr 3.
For this reason, for my Nikon D5000 Photos, I use/edit only very seldom the RAW/NEF Photo files and use/edit most of the time the Jpeg Foto Files. This is somehow a pitty.
It is therefore my impression, that Adobe should allow (and motivate!) the camera manufacturers to provide for Lr (and for Adobe Camera Raw) their own Camera Profiles, which would render RAW Files as well as they (=the camera manufacurer) render their jpeg files.
Such an enhancement would allow me (and other users) to benefit more from the combined use of two excellent products: my excellent camera and the excellent Lr Software. It is my impression that such an enhancement woulde also be benefitial for Camera Manufacturers (e.g. Nikon will be happy to know, that their customers can benefit more from Lr) and would also be benefitial for Adobe (Adobe will be happy to know, that those users who bought a brand-X camera can achieve for their camera with Lr the best RAW rendering).
Adobe could leave it to each camera manufacturer, to decide if they prefer to sell or to give-away their Lr camera profile.
Notice: I am not a Lr expert and do therefore not know how easy or how difficult it will be to provide such an enhancement. But as a non-expert, I have the impression that since it is today possible for a user to define and use his own Lr Presets, it should also be possible to define and use Camera profiles that are not defined by Adobe. ....Perhaps, what I am looking for, could be achieved with some kind of Presets that will be provided by the camera manufacturers.

Adobe's point-of-view is to make their RAW engine process RAW files consistently from 100s of cameras.
Each camera manufacturer's point-of-view is to produce in-camera JPGs better than their competitors or at least good enough to turn a profit.
ssprengel, on the above subject too, I fear that you are describing the somehow sad reality.
But, sometimes enlighted managers also spend time to think about and to work on the objectives/point-of-views of ***their users***; this not only for the benefit of their users but indirectly also for the well-understood benefit of their products.
In this particular case, my point of view/objective is to get an excellent  RAW rendering for ***my*** particular camera. I guess that this is/will also be the case of a lot of other non-sophisticated Lr users ....and I believe that Lr has (thanks to its excellence) also a very interesting market potential within the segment of non-sophisticated users (who are a little bit like me: neither bloody beginners nor experts).
If (what is very probable), Adobe can not afford to spend a very high amount of time on the RAW rendering for each one of the thousands of different camera models: it would be great if there would be a solution that would allow the camera manufacturers (and/or third parties) to provide "something" (perhaps something new, which is different from todays camera-profiles and from todays Presets) that will allow to render within Lr excellently the RAW File formats of their cameras.
I understand that you will answer me: "please stop to bother us with your day dreams" and I will therefore stop.
Thanks again for the help that you provided.
    Sincerely
    Robert

You can seach the net for solutions like this one http://appletvvpn.com/how-to-connect-apple-tv-2-to-vpn/ another idea is to use a PC as the control and fit that with a wireless card and set up a ad hoc wireless network that the Apple TV uses.

  • When one or more family members who have been sharing one iTunes account wants to create their own iTunes account can they each upload the music/apps from the shared iTunes on their devices to the new iTunes account?

When one or more family members who have been sharing one iTunes account wants to create their own iTunes account can they each upload the music/apps from the shared iTunes on their devices to the new iTunes account?

Yes. I would clarify your statement about the "shared" iTunes Library though. If you want each iOS device to have its own music library, you should create separate user accounts for them. Read:
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
How to use multiple iPods, iPads, or iPhones with one computer

  • 2 computers, 5 family members with their own iTunes accounts. How do we share purchased iTunes and downloaded CDs with homeshare? (I can't get my old iPod music to all go onto my iPad)

    I have 2 computers - Windows Based
My husband, myself and the kids all have our own "accounts" on the home computer. This was done to limit certain access when the kids were younger.
The laptop is pretty much mine. I use both computers for my iTunes music.
Everyone has their own iTunes account for their music and games. I have been able to get music purchased by my other family members on my iPod in the past if I logged in the home computer under their IDs and attached my iPod. Or, if a family member downloaded a CD, I could get that music thes same way without having to download the CD again under my own login ID. However, I now have an iPad, and I can't transfer music from the iPod to the iPad - specifically that which was downloaded from CDs - not iTunes. And I couldn't get it to go from my iPod to my laptop, although both are authorized computers in the Home Sharing.
It doesn't seem like the Home Sharing works with the different computer login IDs. The iTunes is universally available regardless of who is logged in, but the libraries vary based on who's user name you are under. I have strugged with importing from one User ID to another, which led me to simply log in under a different family member to get the desired music. There has got to be an easier answer and I'm just not figuring it out.
I've read the support answers, I've read many of the other responses here as well to those with similiar questions, but I am still struggling.
    Any suggestions?

If you are completely confident that you didn't hide it, then you purchased those with different apple id. If you completely confident that you purchases with same apple id then you have hidden it. One of the other or you are speaking about a miracle. While miracles are possible they are not very likely.
