Photos edited in Zoombrowser/Digital Photo Professional become over-saturated

Hi,
I'm new to using Zoombrowser and having an issue with over-saturated photos.
I edited a photo in ZB and while in the software the photo looks like the way I took it.
But when I export the photo, it comes out more saturated even though I didn't make any changes.
This has happened to other photos also, so it can't be a one-time accident..
I've read online that this might be an issue with "color-space" but I don't know how to change it.
I've been using sRGB on the Camera and ZB...what else should I check?
Also, this happens with Digital Photo Professional also.
Thanks.
Raj.

Hi,
Yes, I am using different viewers...in ZoomBrowser/DPP the photo looks ok...in Windows Viewer/Facebook the photo comes out over-saturated.
I thought it might be an issue with the different viewers...but when I was using Lightroom to edit, there wasn't this much of a difference...so I thought I'd ask.
I don't see a difference when I export from DPP and bring it back up on DPP.  But, I'd like to be sure the exported photo will look (for the most part) the way it looked before I export...at least on my computer.
Any chance I need to calibrate my monitor or play around with settings in ZoomBrowser/DPP?
Thanks for your questions and suggestions.
Raj

  • Images in video become over saturated when exported

When I export the project as an AVI the images in the video become over saturated, ie the skin tone of people becomes bright orange in some cases. Is there a setting to prevent this happening?

Grand ideas or major duds...let us try the two different tests to see if we can pin point where the issue originates and its cause....
You may want to work from a copy of the problematic project....See File Menu/Save A Copy)
Open your existing project (the one that is yielding your DV AVI 4:3 @ 29.97 interlaced frames per second, and displaying with color issues).
But, do not export this project's Timeline using Publish+Share/Computer/AVI with Presets = DV NTSC Standard as you have been doing, assumed
with no export settings customization under the Advanced Button of the preset.
    1. Go to Expert workspace File Menu/Project Archiver and its Archive and Copy options. Project Archive the project with the Copy option. This will result in a "Copied....Folder" saved to the computer hard at the location that you designated. Open the "Copied....Folder" to see copies of the source media that went into the project. These copies will represent all the source media that went into Project Assets whether they were used on the Timeline or not. Open each to determine if there is any color issues with any.
    on to second test....
    2. Go to Timeline Menu and select and click on Delete Rendered Files to do just that. Next, render the Timeline content by pressing the Enter key of the computer main keyboard. All video previews generated from Timeline rendering of a SD project are DV AVI files, be the files being previewed photos or videos.
Next, go to the Adobe Premiere Elements Preview Files Folder (by default in Windows' Document/Adobe/Premiere Elements/12.0) and open that folder. Play back the preview files there to determine if they have color flaws.
Please let us know the outcome.
    Thanks.

  • Photo's look over saturated when compaired with Preview and PS.

My g/f's photos look natural when she views them in Preview and Photoshop, yet when viewed within iPhoto they look over saturated!
Which one represents the truest viewer and why are they different?
    Thanx
    Tc

    Can I just say...
I ask anyone with Tiger and 6.0.3 to double click a photo from within iPhoto so it goes to edit within Photoshop. As soon as the photo arrives at PS it looks fine and as it should be. Compare the two and iPhoto's is aweful!!
Seriously, dont edit anything in iPhoto. The colour profiling is all over the place!

  • Over Saturated Photos in IDVD09

Using Iphoto 09 and IDVD09. Trying to burn a slideshow with 2 small video clips via Imovie09 to IDVD. The photos are extremely over saturated. Skin is a sharp pink or red color. Totally unusable. Any suggestions to correct this? Can't believe this is happening, very frustrated. All help appreciated, I can not be the first with this problem.

  • Canon Digital Photo Professional and EOS Utility not responding

Have been using both Canon DPP and EOS Utility since Dec 09 successfully. Installed Snow Leopard in Jan 2010, still worked fine. Installed Aperture 3 in August and now the Canon software keeps shutting down on me. I contacted Canon and they said it is Apples fault (since 10.6.4) andthat it is because I am running Snow Leopard.
How can this be when it worked for 4 months fine?
Is this an issue with Aperture not wnating any ohter editing software?
I have a Canon EOS 50D camera and was exporting through the Digital Photo Professional software.
thanks to anyone that can help.

  • IPhoto vs Canon's Digital Photo Professional for RAW

    Greetings,
Quick question after not finding much while searching the forums:
I’m currently using a MBP C2D, 2.33/2G ram, all updated software. Just got a Canon Rebel XTi, finally putting aside my Canon 35mm (for now anyway).
Can someone offer feedback on iPhoto vs Canon's Digital Photo Professional for RAW editing for someone with limited experience with RAW editing?
I understand there are also other options out there but I'm trying to compare what is basically free/already provided, perhaps upgrading once I become more experienced with Digital/RAW editing.
    Thanks in advance...
    MBP C2D Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    wdunn:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Nearly all, if not all, professionals use RAW in their shooting. There are a lot of advantages to that if you know what you're doing and need the extreme control over the image that pros usually do. I hang out in the iView MediaPro forum. Over there it's nearly all RAW users and I've learned a little of what they can do with fine tuning a photo. It is considerable. But for amateurs like us, jpgs are more than enough.
I've edited and saved a jpg file many times to see if I could detect the "degradation" and couldn't. If one was going to make a very, very large sized print then you might see something after a number of saves. Personally I use Photoshop for my editing and on "special" photos I create a psd file, duplicate the base layer and do my edits on the duplicate layer. That way I can easily compare to the original, and keep the resolution quality the same throughout. But, only on special projects.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How do i send my raw photos back to canon digital photo professional from photoshop elements 10 ?

    Hi
i am trying to send my raw photos back to canon digital photo professional from photoshop elemnts 10 organizer can someone help me with this please.
                                                   Thanks
                                                                      Rich.

Well, your photos aren't "in" in the organizer, so you can just point DPP at the folders where they reside, or you could set DPP as your external editor for the organizer, if you prefer that. Organizer>Preferences>Use a Supplementarty Editing Application.

  • ImageBrowser EX or Digital Photo Professional

    Hi,
I've just taken my first photos with a Canon 6D and downloaded the software to edit the pictures before printing.
Could someone tell me please if there will be any difference in the results I get by using ImageBrowser EX's edit function compared to Digital Photo Professional's Tool Palette.
Being a beginner, I'm only going to start by adjusting brightness, tone, saturation, contrast - so do both typs of software do this equally well?
I presume cropping (ImageBrowser) as opposed to trimming (DPP) produces the same results if i put 7 and 5 in the custom size for 7in x 5in prints.
The problem when I tried DPP was that whenever I did change something on the image like brightness and then I clicked Save As, while the new brighter version appeared in DPP, there was no sign of the new brighter version of the image in my original folder which contained all my original pictures in the Mypictures folder, nor was it in the desktop folder. And as I don't print my own images - I upload them on to Truprint's site - it's the Mypictures folder that I use to upload them all to Truprint. So I want any edited images I create to appear in Mypictures
    Thanks for any tips

Thanks Jeff,  That makes sense and I've tried the 3 variations after modifying a DPP image to give it a new recipe.
    1.  When after modifying  I just click "Save" (rather than "Save As") it doesn't offer me the opportunity to save it to anywhere.  Just the DPP image gets modified, but the folder one in Pictures hasn't changed - so I don't really see the point in that.
    2.  My first post is now out of date.  Now, after modifying when I click "Save As" to save the copy to my holiday photos folder in Pictures, I am now managing to get a copy - but still WITHOUT the modification.  While the copy in DPP does show the modification, unfortunately the new copy in the folder doesn't contain the changes.   so if I upload the folder to the Truprint printing company's website I'm ending up with 2 idential versions of the original, but nothing with my modified improvements?
    3.   So I tried Convert and Save.  Like in 2 above I got a copy.  But the copy looked like the original with none of the improvements appearing.
So I can't seem to find a way to get an improved modified image on to Truprint for printing

    Hi MztengaM!
Welcome to the Canon Forums, and thanks for your post. Canon USA does have a Flickr Group already established! It's called "Canon Imagination." While it does not focus solely on Digital Photo Professional, it is the one and only official Flickr Group for Canon USA. Feel free to join and contribute! This is the URL for the group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/canonusa

  • Importing into Elements 10 from Digital Photo Professional

Dont seem to be able to open my RAW files from Digital Photo Professional into Elements 10 - have I missed something or is this not possible
    Thanks
    pamay

    Hi pamay
It’s often simpler to open the CR2 file in Elements. You get similar sliders and tools to DPP in the Adobe camera raw dialog and any raw editing is totally non destructive. Change the bit depth from 16 to 8 at the bottom of the camera raw dialog then click open image. At 8 bit/channel the full range of editing tools will be available and you can save the finished image as jpeg knowing that your CR2 file is safe as a backup.

  • Difficulty Installing Updates to Digital Photo Professional

I'm trying to install an update for DPP. I've downloaded the latest file from Canon, unzipped it and clicked the installer. I however get a message back that I  don't have sufficient privileges to install and to log back on an an Adminstrator. I've checked and am logged on as an Adminstrator. Any thoughts as to why the difficult?

I didn't mean to imply that the camera model had any effect on the issue, but rather that Canon is possibly not offering the same version of DPP for all of its models. Knowing the model, anyone can look at the specific download page for it to see which version they're offering. If it's not the latest, try going to the SX1 IS download page and download the version I installed last night.
Edit: I just checked the 7D downloads and the same version is offered (3.12.41); here are details on the system requirements for it:
    3. Target Applications (required for update)
Make sure that at least one of the following applications is installed.
    - Digital Photo Professional
    - RAW Image Task
If any of the above applications is not installed, prepare one of the following installation CD-ROMs.
    - EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk v1 to v25.4
    - DIGITAL CAMERA Solution Disk v2/32/32.1/38/38.1/38.2/39.1/53/54/71/72/73/74/96/97/99/100.1/101.1/122/123/124 /125/126/127

  • Lightroom 5.5 and Digital Photo Professional 4

My workflow includes processing my Canon 6D RAW files in LR exporting them in reduced size JPG format to a folder on my external drive and then opening up the images in Digital Photo Professional (versions 3 and 4) to review and tweak before submission.
I updated to LR5.5 and DPP4 simultaneously (stupid). Now when I follow the above work flow, the JPG files created in LR5.5 can not be read in DPP4 (or DPP3). I have called Canon, they are not aware of the issue and had no really good feedback. DPP4 can read all other previous LR JPGs created prior to the update to LR5.5.
I have uninstalled DPP3 and 4 and reinstalled DPP 4 with same results.
Anybody on the Lightroom end know of any possible explanation?
    Thanks,
    Don

The short answer is that Adobe changes something in LR and PS-ACR that puts the JPG header sections in a different order, and while this may be within the JPG standard, some programs including DPP don’t know how to handle this change, and won’t open the LR 5.5 JPGs.
The release notes for ACR 8.6 RC say Adobe has changed things to make JPGs readable by more applications.  Presumably this will reverse whatever was changed, but there is no LR 5.6 RC so you’ll have to wait for LR 5.6 final, or put LR 5.4 back if you don’t have a camera that needs LR 5.5+.
Older versions of LR are available at the Adobe Updates page:

  • Lenses not listed in the Lens Optimizer in Digital Photo Professional

As the topic title states my lenses are not listed in the Digital Lens Optimizer. I've placed the CD in the tray, and yet the program says it's connecting to the server, and when done, they are not found in the list. The lenses are:
    EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II
    EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II
Why are they not listed? How do I get them?
     DPP version 3.13.0.1
    EOS 70D / EOS Rebel t4i / EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 IS II / EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS II / Sigma 17-50 f2.8/ Canon EF-S 60mm f2.8 macro/ Canon EF 100mm f2.8 macro/ Tamron 70-300mm / 430EX II Speedlite / Canon FS 300
Canon Pixma MG 3100 / Canon LiDE 2100
Adobe Lightroom 4, Canon DPP, Corel Paintshop Pro X4

Of the lenses I have, the following are not supported by DPP 4 (However, they are supported "in camera" with EOS Utility 3)
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II USM
    Canon EF 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
    Canon EF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
    Canon EF 28-90mm f/4-5.6 USM
Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM
Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
    Canon EF 75-300mm f4.5-5.6 USM
I don't care if they are "old" lenses or not. Why have the correction profiles for "in camera" correction (when saving/converting to JPG) and not in DPP 4? They have the data, they could just port it over from the database used in EOS Utility 3.
These lens correction profiles bring new life to some of the old "film" lenses like the Canon EF 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens. That lens has lots of distortion. However with in camera correction, it now produces good pictures.
I am not a professional photographer. I am a photography enthuisasts. I'll NEVER spend $1,000.00 or more for an "L" series lens (in fact I sold the Canon 24-105 f/4 L "kit lens that came with my EOS 5D. It was way too heavy, and the zoom on the low end was cramped (only 4mm movement between 24mm and 28mm). I like/use my Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM and Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM better.
Maybe my mistake is that I am using a program call Digital Photo Professional and I am not a professional. I noticed that that software leans heavily and supports the "L" series lenses.

  • Trouble installing Digital Photo Professional and other Canon software

    Hello everyone,
I have been trying to install several software programs on a new iMac without any success. My machine is the 20" Intel Core 2 Duo running OS X 10.4.8. I am attempting to install Canon's Digital Photo Professional version 1.0 and the EOS Digital Solutions version 7.0 (original equipment with my 1D mkII - will upgrade after installation). During the installation of DPP the process will stop while "configuring installation". I then receive a message that "There were errors installing the software. Please try installing again."
When operating the Canon EOS Digital Installer on the Solutions disk I receive the message "Not authorized to write to this folder".
As I am attempting to install this software under the administrative account, the error message for the Solutions disk puzzles me.
Does anyone have any ideas about what the problem is or where to begin troubleshooting?
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Kevin

You may need to download the latest version (2.2.2).
It runs fine on my iMac C2D. Version 2.2.2 is also Universal Binary.
The only hitch you may have is the upgrade checks for an installed version. I'm not sure if it will accept the CD as an upgrade.
Where did I download it from? That I'm not certain of! I did a long search on Google & finally ran across a Japanese Canon site that had it.
If you can't install to upgrade, try installing it on a PPC Mac, install the update, then drag & drop the installed file to your new Mac.
