Photos for Wallpapers

I have a folder in my iPhoto that I use as my "Wallpaper Bank". I am regularly adding to it. I have it on my settings in System Prefs to change the photo for my desktop every time I log in. Both my laptop and my secondary display are set to do so, and in random order. However, every time I log in, I catch a brief glimpse of the photo that it changes to, and then my desktop(s) revert to a certain photo (the same photo each time) as if it is just set to my background.
Why does it do this? I've tried logging out and in over and over, playing around in the Desktop/Screensaver panel in System Prefs, with no success.
Any ideas/solutions?

I see this too including on a fresh install and a new account. I've seen many other posts about it. seems to be a bug in snow leopard. no real way around it.

  • Answer to how to scale your photos for wallpapers

I have tried many things and only found this to be the one thing that WORKS for this issue! Go into your photos and take a screen shot of the photo you want to use as your wallpaper (do this by holding down the home button and sleep button at the same time). Go into your settings and wallpapers once you do this choose the photo you screen shot and scale!!!! I'm so happy I found this answer but it took a long time searching for it, this is why I posted separate thread. I hope this was an easy find for you! :-)

  • Having trouble sizing a photo for wallpaper in iOS 7

When I try to move and scale a photo for my home screen wallpaper on my iPad3, using iOS 7, it immediately reverts to it's original size, which is larger than the screen. Is this a bug in iOS 7 or am I doing something wrong?

I was able to move and scale the wallpaper on my iPad 4 by turning off the parallax motion....
Go to Settings > General > Assessibility > Reduce Motion "set to OFF"
Next, in Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness > Choose Wallpaper (pick the wallpaper) - you should now be able to "Move and Scale" the photo that you've chosen for your wallpaper.
After you've SET the wallpaper, you can go back to Parallax motion by turning Reduce Motion to "ON" (see step 1)

iOS 7: How to reduce screen motion
You can reduce screen motion in iOS 7. iOS 7 uses a parallax effect to create the perception of depth on your Home screen and elsewhere.
To reduce the effect, you can turn on Reduce Motion in Settings > General > Accessibility. When you turn on Reduce Motion, Home screen transitions will fade instead of zoom.
When the parallax effect is on, you may notice the following:
Wallpaper, icons, and alerts shift slightly as you move your phone.
When you set a wallpaper in Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness, the photo or image will be slightly zoomed and can't be scaled to fit the screen.
If you zoom in, you will need to rescale your wallpaper to fit to the screen. You can't rescale certain photo formats, including landscape or square images.
To learn more about iOS 7, refer to the user manual.

  • IOS7: inability to crop photos for home or lock screen

iOS7 doesn't allow you to "move and scale" photos to set for the lock and home screens. When will this be fixed?

Great, that's what I was worried about too...seems like since Steve died they are no longer interested in keeping the quality up, just trying to push "new" things.  I'd trade the stupid parallex effect in a heartbeat for the ability to use my own photos as wallpapers again.  Very sad.

  • Unable to move and scale photos for wallpaper on IPad mini after iOS 7 update.

After update to iOS7 on my IPad mini, I am able to select my personal photos for the wallpaper, but I cannot move and scale them to fit.  The option is there but unresponsive.  I already had to remove the protective case to access the new control panel via up swipe which must begin below the screen next to the "home" button to initiate.  Now I can no longer personalize the wall paper with my own photos.  It's been a frustrating experience without any real perceptible improvements.

What a nightmare! Had I known what was in store for me, I would never have updated my iPAD Mini to iOS7.
The calendar with it's ultra-thin Helvetica is near impossible to see. To add insult to injury, not being able
to move and size a wallpaper photo is just totally unacceptable. So annoying when software is thrown out
there for the general public when it's obviously not ready. I tried the solution:
Go to Settings > General > Assessibility > Reduce Motion "set to OFF"
Next, in Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness > Choose Wallpaper (pick the wallpaper) - you should now be able to "Move and Scale" the photo that you've chosen for your wallpaper.
After you've SET the wallpaper, you can go back to Parallax motion by turning Reduce Motion to "ON" (see step 1)
And it just DOES NOT WORK. Plain and simple. I am so tired of Apple products that have bugs that we are all expected to work through and work out while paying anywhere from $500 to $2000 for a product. And of course you can't get online support in a quick, efficient manner. My big old $600 bite out the Apple is tasting mighty sour at the moment.

If not the backup your iPhoto Library and launch iPhoto while depressing the option and command keys. Rebuild your database

  • All my family photos for the last 6 years are disappeared...

    Hi,
    Can anybody help me?
I am in complete chock fearing that all my family photos from the last 7 years are lost!
I have had ALL my family photos in the Adobe Stater Edition. Lately, I have been requested to register to get an unlock code every time I wanted to see photos or download new photos. I have tried to register but has been informed that the Adobe Starter Edition does not exist anymore. Yesterday, I therefore loaded all my photos into Picasa. I worked with the photos for about one hour - and then they suddently all disappeared. I seached for the photoes everywhere but they are completely gone... they are not on the hard disk at all. How is that possible? The photos were located on the hard disc in the "Picture folder" in a subfolder named "Adope". This subfolder was created automatically, years ago, when I started to load photo into the Adope Starter Edition. This subfolder is now empty - how is that possible? If I now start up the Adobe Starter Edition I get the usual "unlock message" - but behind the message I can see some of my photos but maybe this is just a "dead" bacground from my last attempt to get the unlock code?
What should I do - can anybody please help me? I am willing to upgrade to whatever type of Adobe product it requires to get the last 7 years of my family life back.
And yes... I did a full back-up of my photos app. 12 months ago... I looked for it yesterday in complete panic... it is gone... we had a burglary last summer... and yesterday I realized that it has been stolen.
ALL - ALL!! the photos of my two wonderful girls growing up... sitting in the Danish summer fields with floral wreaths on their head... I cannot believe it... I fell I have lost their childhood.
    Please help me...
    Kirsten

In Picasa, look under to Tools menu, under Options, and at the bottom, it shows 'Save Imported Pictures in...'; look at where it is saving files, then look for a folder called Picasa at that location; could be that it moved all your files to there.

  • Hello how can i transfer photo for my old computer to the new one

hello how can i transfer photo for my old computer to the new one

If your computers are connected to the same network, you can turn on Sharing to allow you to see the contents of one from the other and do transfers. If there is no network, you can use "target disk mode" explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13842
Otherwise, you will need to use external storage such as a USB flash drive.

How can I create a high res image gallery, need to have print res photos for a pressroom section.

If you want Muse to "pass through" your images and not adjust, compress, crop etc - you need to place your images in the lightbox EXACTLY at the right size, pre-cropped and prepped in Photoshop.
So if your light box is 800x600 the image you're dropping into that must be 800x600 exactly with no effects, rotation etc added to the lightbox frame. This stop Muse fiddling with your images, if they are perfect when inserted and you're not asking Muse to crop, expand, add effects etc. If it's perfect when inserted, Muse SHOULD also leave the resolution alone too, but I have not tried that one, but in theory, it should work.

  • How do I make a private album in new Photos for IMac?

How do I make a private album in the new Photos for IMac? I had one in iPhoto, and now that all the photos migrated to Photos my private album is not hidden anymore. Thanks for help!

Photos does not hide photos in albums at all.  Photos can only be hidden from Moments, Collections, Years.
If you want private albums, move the photos in questions to a different Photos Library, that you keep hidden.

  • An error occurred while downloading a larger version of this photo for editing. Please try again later.

I've moved to photos from iphoto and for a while all was good. And quite exciting. My entire 15k photos have migrated and are available on all my devices.
Suddenly, I get this warning when I select or try to edit a photo: Cant Download Photo: An error occurred while downloading a larger version of this photo for editing. Please try again later.
There is an exclamation  mark and a warning triangle on the picture. I am only able to test on my ibook as my Imac is out of action.
If I log in to icloud in Safari, I can down load the full sized image no problem.  Any one got any ideas?

Well stone me, it's started working.  Nothing changed on my side.....  go figure.

  • Photos does not support external editing like iPhoto. Is there likely to be an upgrade to change this or will I abandon Photos for software that does support editing in Photoshop?

Photos does not support external editing like iPhoto. Is there likely to be an upgrade to change this or will I abandon Photos for software that does support editing in Photoshop?

iPhoto does work and there is an upgrade:
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
