Photos from Removable Media

What do the folders and files in the folder "My Pictures\Adobe\Photos from Removable Media" represent - when were they formed - how are they used - and can I safely delete them?

>My Pictures\Adobe\Photos from Removable Media
Or photos that were read in from a USB "thumb drive".
I agree do not delete them.

  • Moving photos from one media to another?

Lets say you have a laptop that you do all your Lightroom work on. By default you import the RAW images to the local disk, manipulate (develop) them, and the convert them for use elsewhere.
In the mean time these RAW photos start to collect on your disk and you want to move them to an "off-line" media. Say a hard drive (or multiple) in USB enclosures. Ideally when you move them they retain all of their metadata, keywords/tags, develop settings, etc. Not to mention have their standard previews and other data available for viewing.
If I read the Adobe FAQ on their suggestion on how to do this, the implication is you can move things off line, but you'll lose stuff like keywords etc. In many ways it seems to be saying you're removing them from Lightroom, rather than putting them on "near-line" storage. That really doesn't do the trick for me.
It looks like maybe I can copy the physical folder to the new hard drive, remove it from the old, then tell Lightroom to "Find missing folder". I'm not sure if that preserves keywords etc. (I need to test), but it certainly is tedious if you have a lot of folders to move (I break up my imports by date, so they collect fast). "Find missing folder" is very slow when you go to open "My Computer" by the way (perhaps it's specific to my laptop though).
Ideally there really ought to be a way to highlight a folder in the "Navigator" pane, right click on it, and select "Move to another location". Maybe there is way to do this, that just isn't documented (or I haven't found in the documentation).
Alternatively I could create a "Catalog", but that wouldn't be searchable from the old catalog (plus they don't clearly say if you should delete the stuff under the old catalog exported to the new one, which I find kind of confusing in the documentation).
Am I missing something? It seems a bit half baked - critically so such that even though much of the library functionality is there, there isn't quite enough to do the job so the rest is pointless. Having used other products like iMatch, it's hard to take the very limited functionality.
There is of course plenty else to use in Lightroom, but I'd also like to use the photo management for a single comprehensive application. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be quite there.

I usually create a new library on my laptop, and when I am done editing, I transfer it lock stock and barrel to my Desktop, where I'll do more editing and whatever conversions are needed. [Then I convert to DNG, not necessary].
Why don't you try a few this way? You can leave the catalogs separate on your laptop, and separate or included in your main desktop catalog (or both if you're careful) . All key words, etc. should come along with the imported catalog.

  • Imported photos from removable drive and only show on that drive

  • When using photos from the "Media" option in Applescripts and other apps, it takes a LONG time to load the photos from iPhoto...

It also happens when using the Media option in programs like iMovie. Has anyone found a solution for this problem?

    That is long...
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    If it is...
Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts or Users & Groups on 10.7 and 10.8), make a new Library in that account, import some shots  and see if the problem is repeated there.

  • Help Arranging Photos from 4 media sources

I want to be able to have all of my pictures from Hawaii in order. Problem is I loaded them on my mac from 4 sources. 2 different iphones and 2 memory cards from 2 different cameras.  I arranged them by event but they aren't in the correct sequence. Is there a quick way to do this?  I don't even see a way for me to do this manually and that will take forever considering I have about 1,500 pictures. I am using iphoto version 11. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Well you need to tell us details
What order do you consider "the correct sequence"? What is the reason they are not in "the correct sequence"? What do you mean that you "arranged them by event"? What else can you tell us that would help us to resolve your problem?
If (a wild guess) you have a time data problem with one or more source then the solution is tirvial - make a smart album for the offending camera, select the photos in it and use the adjust time and date command to correct them

  • How to install packages from removable media?

I'm pretty damn sure that i missed some wiki page, but i cannot find it, how do i install packages without an internet connection. I installed on one of my computers, then realized i needed to install the wireless drivers after the install, which i cannot. I can ofcourse reinstall, but i believe there must be a possibility to make pacman install a bunch of packages from USB or a cd. I do have internet at my other computer, so i can download the packages there onto a usb-stick.

    Hi,
    you should try
    pacman -U /path/to/package.pkg.tar.gz
I haven't tried this but that's the way one would manually install a package build with PKGBUILD and "made" with makepkg.
    Hope that helps.

  • Slow access of photos from Media Browser

I have a computer with a small iPhoto library. Under 800 photos. iPhoto launches quickly, and effortlessly. iWeb launches easily, but when I try to access the Photos from the Media brownser...things bog down. The spinning ball goes for a couple minutes, before showing me the photos, and regaining control of iWeb. This slowness happens also from Garage Band (when accesing photos via the Media brownser). I rebuilt my iPhoto library database, but this didn't help. Any ideas?
    Thanks

MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Thanks John and Jim,
Here's an update. I did not have iPhoto opened when launching iWeb. And the iMac Intel 20" has 1gig RAM.
I first rebuilt the database in iPhoto...no help. I called applecare, and then first had me rebuilt the database (no help again). Then we created a new user, and the new user worked fine...no sluggishness in Media Browser. So we went back to the ailing user and removed the iPhoto prefs (no help)....then we removed ALL prefs (no help)...then they had me remove the entire user Library....and still no help. At this point, the 2nd level tech support said they didn't know the answer yet...and they are referring it to Engineering...and I should hear back in 2-3 days. I'm guessing they will have me backup, reformat, and reinstall from scratch...but we'll see.
    Thanks for your interest...

  • I have moved my iPhoto to an external hard drive. so now I have to have the external hard drive connected to my laptop to view the photos.  Now when I want to import photos into iPhoto from my media card, I don't have room to connect both devices.

I have moved my iPhoto to an external hard drive. so now I have to have the external hard drive connected to my laptop to view the photos.  Now when I want to import photos into iPhoto from my media card, I don't have room to connect both devices at the same time as the usb ports are side by side.  How do I import my photos from the media card to the external hard drive now?

First transfer the photos to a folder on your MacBook using Image Capture in your Utilities folder. Then move them to iPhoto.
BTW, you might want to invest in a cheap USB hub.

    JT011, welcome to the forum.
I believe all you have to do is right click on a picture in WMP and select Open file location.  This will take you to the photo where it is stored.

  • I am lost. I put photos from a DVD into organizer?

I put images from a DVD into Elements 9. My images show up in my catalog and it allows me to edit and to print. It never asks me to put in the disk. BUT once I got a message that elements could not do something because the image is on an external disk.
How do I check where they are?
If they are only on the external disk, why did it let me print and do some editing?
Is it using just the thumb nail? Wouldn't I lose a lot of quality. I have only done 4x6 prints so far.
I can't find the answers in the manual.
If they are only on the DVDs, what I guess I am asking is, how do I manage them if they stay on the dvds. I have one to three DVDs for each year.
    Thanks for any help,
    confused and bewildered

Thanks, I lost the side panel. I begin to understand. I see my photo files and they are all within the c drive. They must all be imported otherwise it would show F (DVD) drive wouldn't it?
Elements created a folder and called it "photos from removeable media" and all my photos from DVDs are within that folder. To me 'from removeable media" seemed to indicate that they are thumbnails only but I guess not. There is a message that says "No files from this folder have been  imported into the organizer. To add any files right click on the folder  and select 'import to organizer'  Do I read this that Elements does not  see any files in the master folder since there are only folders in the  master folder?
All my file organization is gone from the files imported from removeable media. The whole year is just blobbed together. What is the best way to put the pictures back into the subfolders I had on the disks. For example, I create a master folder (Boston trip) and then within it subfolders (A at hotel, B tours, C people) Should I delete everything and start again. First copy to the hard drive to keep my folders? Then import to Elements? I have 2 or 3 DVDs per year.
I appreciate your help. Thanks again,
    Linda

  • Remove photos from Apple TV (Gen2)?

My parent's Apple TV (Gen2) used to be sync'd to a photos folder on a Windows machine running iTunes. They're now using the Apple TV with a Mac (replaced their old Windows box). They want to start fresh with the photos on the Apple TV, but all the photos that were sync'd to it via the old Windows machine are still showing up — and since there's no way to manually delete photos from the Apple TV itself, outside of a factory reset (which I really don't want to do), I have no idea how to get the photos off the device?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Kristin.

Other than recently purchased content (deal with later) all the content on the tv will have been synced from your itunes library. You cannot delete it from the tv, so I'm not quite sure what it is you are doing that makes you think you can.
What you should be doing to remove this content from the tv is uncheck it in your sync options in itunes on your mac by selecting the tv from the device list and looking under the appropriate media tab. Once you do this and resync the content will disappear from the tv. It will remain in itunes on your mac so you will not lose it and can simply check it again at some point in the future should you wish it to sync to the tv again.
As for content purchased from itms to the tv, this content can be deleted directly from the tv in which case you would lose it. What you should do is let it automatically transfer back to itunes where you can then choose to sync it back to the tv or not. (note; if you let it transfer to itunes and sync back to the tv again you will no longer be able to delete it from the tv directly.

  • How do I remove media from playlist to all list to go to icloud?

How do I remove media from a playlist to allow access to icloud?

    Hi Sam,
It sounds like you and your husband both setup Family Sharing as Organizers, and you want to disband your family group so that you can join the family group that he created as a Parent/Guardian. The article below will walk you through that process and provide more information about Family Sharing.
    Leave Family Sharing
Can the family organizer leave or disband a family group?
Yes. If the family organizer stops Family Sharing, it removes all family members from the family group at once. Go to Settings > iCloud > Family, tap your name as the organizer, then tap Stop Family Sharing.
The organizer will keep the family calendar, reminders, and shared photo album in their account. They can share the content again with individual family members as needed. Learn how to share calendars and reminders.
    Cheers,
    -Jason

  • Removing media from Zen Microph

I remove files (music, photos, etc) from my Zen Microphoto direct in windows explorer, from folder "my zen", because in Zen Microphoto Media Explorer don't have a option "remove media", only "add media". This procedure is right?

  • How do i remove my photo from my Address Book entry?

two questions: first, how do i remove my photo from my entry in Address Book? i should be able to click "Edit", select my photo and hit the Delete key and be done, but no - hitting the Delete key does nothing except make the photo blink.
second, i just posted a comment on a web page that i've never been to before, on a site that i've never been to before, and my photo appeared on the web page next to my comment. very creepy. anybody know why this is and how i make it stop? does it have something to do with my Address Book entry?
update: i've consulted Address Book's help and it tells me to select the card then go Card -> Clear custom image, but when i do, that menu item is grayed out.
further update: i've worked around the problem by taking a screen shot of a blank white area of a webpage and making that my photo...but i shouldn't have to do that and would still like to know how one actually deletes one's photo from Address Book. Address Book's help indicates that i'll find such photos in Library/Images/People, but there's no such directory in any of my Library folders. Address Book's help is not being very helpful today.
    tia...

there is actually no way to completely delete an image for you address book entry. you can only change it to something else as you did.
as for the image on that website, most likely it pulled your photo from your webpage on some site like My Space, Facebook etc. do you have a page like that? some sites will tap directly into your webpage and pull your pic from it.
