Photos have stopped uploading to iCloud Photo Library

I turned on iCloud Photo Library on my iPad Mini & iPhone 5S on Wednesday last week. Friday night it stopped working on both devices. It keeps trying to upload but then reverts to saying "Uploading 1 photo". How do I get this working again without losing the photos I have taken in the meantime?

Hi,
I had this exactly. My iPhone and iPad got stuck just moments after I enabled Icloud Photo Library.
I then plugged my ipad overnight to a charger and in the morning, it was all synced
So I plugged my iphone and it immediately started syncing the rest.
Hope it helps someone

    Hi yvrtoakl,
I'm sorry, I'm a bit unclear on what you mean by "uploaded onto iCloud". If you are referring to videos synced to iCloud using the new iCloud Photo Library feature, you may find the following article helpful:

  • Photos stopped uploading to iCloud Photo Library beta.  Any suggestions?

Yesterday I set up iCloud Photo library beta to upload my photos to iCloud.  Aft 40 photos uploaded it seems that the upload is stuck and won't upload any more photos.  I went to the iCloud photos beta site and the 40 or so photos that uploaded are there.

  • My photostream photos have stopped uploading to my PC.

My photostream used to work great and quickly sync to my pc.  In mid November it stopped working.  I did not change anything.  I've checked my settings on my phone and photostream is still on, on my icloud control panel photos is checked and in options both options are checked and apply is clicked.  My storage is not full.  My wifi on my phone is working.  I have windows 7 and an Iphone 5 ios version 7.0.4.  Please help!

Have restarted iPhone and iPhoto on my MacBook. No luck. Have quit camera and photos on iPhone. Am running Mavericks (just updated the other day, but was having the issue before the update) and iPhoto 9.5.1 on my Mac.
Phone and computer are almost always connected to wifi; every now and then a photo will upload to Photo Stream about 24 hours after I take it. But not always and not every photo that's taken (I took 5 the other day and 1 uploaded the next day).

  • My photos have stopped uploading to my pc/photostream.

Photos were uploading until 10/2013, then just stopped.   I have seen several posts regarding this problem and tried a few solutions.  Most recently, signing out an back into to iCloud, but no results.

  • My iPhone photos have stopped uploading to photostream

I did the iOS update months ago without problems; this has only started within the last week. All settings are correct. I started moving photos to an iCloud share folder, but those aren't syncing with iPhoto on my computer, either. Any ideas?

  • Hello. My iphone was recently stolen. My laptop operates XP. I have seen that my icloud account has used about 4Gb of memory so assume that my photos have automatically uploaded to icloud. Is there anyway I can download the photos to my laptop?

    Hello
My iphone was recently stolen. I am hoping, by virtue of icloud memory used which I have viewed on a friend's Apple PC that my family photos are still on icloud. I assume that there is a chance my photos were uploaded automatically to icloud. My own laptop is XP only so I cannot access Photostream from my laptop.
Is there any way i can access icloud photostream and download all my family photos to my laptop?
    Please help.
    Nigel

Not with Windows XP, you need Windows 7 or 8, or a Mac.

  • My iphone 4 stopped uploading to icloud

My iphone 4 has suddenly stopped backing my photos up to my icloud, I have bought more memory but still it won't either automatically or manually. Can anyone suggest the answer to this problem.

    Hey there Ray!
It sounds like your Camera Roll is not backing up to your iCloud backup. I would check to see if the Camera Roll option was turned off in your backup settings on the phone:
Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage.
Tap the name of your iOS device.
In the Backup Options section, the backup size is displayed under Camera Roll.

  • Photos missing in iCloud Photo Library

I have successfully imported my Aperture Library into the new Photos app on my iMac - 17866 photos and 485 videos.  All seems fine.
I then turned on the iCloud Photo Library and left it to upload overnight.  18 hours later it says 'Updated Just Now', and seems to have stopped uploading.  However, when I access the library on iCloud.com, it contains 4794 photos and videos only.  I think all the album structure is there, but many of them are empty.
My Aperture library was a referenced library, with the originals stored in the Pictures folder (not in the Aperture library).  I have read today that referenced libraries will not upload to the iCloud Photo Library.  My library also contains many Photostream imports from other devices - I don't know if these are referenced.
Can anyone help me with these questions:
    1. If referenced photos will not upload, why have some of mine been uploaded and not others?
    2.  How can I pull these referenced photos into the Photos Library (ie. un-reference them) so that they will upload onto the iCloud Library - if indeed this is the reason they are not uploading.
Hope this makes sense to someone out there.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Judith

I think I have found the solution on another thread.  Am consolidating the referenced files which will hopefully solve the problem. A bit puzzling that I didn't get the warning some people mention, that the referenced files would not be uploaded to iCloud.

  • ICloud Photo Library - Stalled

I have a large photo library (~100GB) and with the launch of the Photos app, decided to use the iCloud Photo Library feature. The problem is that it seems to be stalled uploading. There are no errors, it's not paused, but the upload queue is the same now as it was when I left the house 10 hours ago. I ran an online speed test and my upload connectivity isn't bad (4-5 mbps).
Could it be that uploads stop when the computer goes into password lock?

Do you have other devices on your network to use to make speed tests? iOS has several speed test apps, use one on the same wifi network.
To know if the Mac is uploading when locked you can compare the rate at which another device works when Photos is uploading, here is how…
Do a speed test on your 2nd device whilst Photos are uploading. Allow the Mac to 'lock' normally. Do another speed test. If the data rate is a lot faster Photos may have stopped uploading images. If the rate is about the same Photos is still processing whilst locked.
You can double check by comparing the speed on a second device when Photos is paused - that is in the 'Preferences > iCloud tab' to see what the rate is when Photos is not busy.
Please report back what your internet connection speed is. 100GB of data will take many hours to upload even on a fast connection.
    http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=100gigabytes+at+5megabits+per+second
Result: 1 day 20 hours (if your connection is constant).
The number of images is not very relevant, but the size of your Photo library is.
EDIT: clarified locking instead of 'sleeping'

  • Not all photos in the Photos app are uploaded to iCloud

I have over 23,000 photos in my Photos default library, but only about 3,000 have been upload to iCloud. I have 200 GB iCloud storage (187 GB available). Can someone help resolve this?

On my iPad 2 (using iOS 7.1.2) there are 1,279 photos in the Photos application. The camera roll contains 77 photos. The About section in the Settings indicate I have 1,421 photos. Why is there this discrepancy in numbers? How can I move all 1,279 photos from the Photos application to a USB flash drive?
    You cannot.
You have sync'd 1202 photos (1279-77)  from your computer using iTunes to your iPhone.
You have 77 photos on you iPhone you have taken with the iPhone and have not sync'd to your computer and deleted from the Camera Roll.
You should regularly sync all photos in the Camera Roll to your computer and delete them from the Camera Roll on the iPhone.
-> iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
After you do this, you can sync whatever photos you want, back to your iPhone using iTunes. (These are the photos NOT in the Camera Roll).
    -> iTunes: Syncing photos
After all this, you can copy photos from your computer to a USB flash drive.

  • ICloud Photo Library won't sync all photos

I've enabled iCloud Photo Library on my Macs & iOS devices... and have noticed that all my photos are not being sync'ed to iCloud... and the ones in iCloud are not being sync'ed to all my devices. (I'm running Mac OS X 10.10.3 on the Macs and iOS 8.3 on the iPad/iPhone.)
In my master Library on my iMac, I have 20,233 Photos and 344 Videos. According to the Photos app, all have been uploaded to iCloud.
However, according to iCloud - only about half of those photos are uploaded.
(I have plenty of storage on iCloud... I have paid for 200GB and am only using about 40GB.)
On my Macbook - I started the Photos app with an empty photo library, and then turned on iCloud Photo Library. On that computer, it reports a different number of photos - 9,923 photos. And, it too is supposedly "updated completely"
When I browse the Photos on an iOS device, it's about the same as the MacBook - but not exactly.
Anyone have any ideas here? I would expect all the photos from the iMac to show up on all devices.
Is there a log file somewhere I can examine to understand what is being uploaded and what isn't?
    Thanks!

I managed to fix the problem articulated above. I think only photos that are copied into your Photos Library can be synced via iCloud. And, the approximately ~10,000 photos missing from iCloud were not in my Library.
On the iMac Photos Library, I selected all the photos (Cmd-A) and choose File->Consolidate from the menu... and this popup emerges:
I clicked "Copy" which apparently copies all the original images from my Pictures folder into the iCloud Library itself. Once this was done ... it uploaded missing files. Now - on all my devices I see the exact same number of photos and videos.

  • How can you stop burst photos from uploading to iCloud Photo Library

So I took around 500 burst photos with my phone and deleted them right after but they still appear to be uploading to iCloud Photo Library. I have upload burst photos turned off in settings but they're still uploading. How can I turn this off and stop burst photos from uploading?

  • I have the iCloud Photo Library (Beta) turned on. The photos from my iPhone do get uploaded to the iCloud. The photos are then downloaded to my wife's iPhone (we share the iCloud account). How do I keep the photos from downloading to my wife's iPhone

I do not want all the photos from my iPhone downloading to my wife's iPhone from iCloud? We share an iCloud account. How can I prevent the download to my wife's iPhone from iCloud. .The "Upload to My Photo Stream" is turned off on my iPhone. . I am running 8.1.3.
I have a related question. In order to same space on my iPhone is there a way to upload the photos to the iCloud and then delete them from my iPhone.

The way to keep the photos from downloading to your wife's phone would be for her to go to Settings > iCloud > Photos > and turn off iCloud Photo Library. If that isn't an option, the other option would be for her to have her own Apple ID ( and possibly explore the new family sharing options https://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/family-sharing/ )
Regarding the "related question" see the quotes below from iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support
Deleting a photo or video from your Photos app will also remove the item from iCloud Photo Library and from your iCloud storage allocation. Photos and videos you remove can be recovered from the Recently Deleted album for 30 days. After 30 days, your content will be removed from the Recently Deleted album.
If you want to reduce the space used by photos on your phone, rather than deleting them see the following:
How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your iOS device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. iCloud Photo Library stores the original, high-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and can keep lightweight, device-optimized versions on each of your devices. As long as you have enough storage, recent photos and videos that you access the most will stay on your device at full resolution.
You can turn on Optimize [device] Storage from Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera > iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You need an Internet connection to access an original photo or video that’s stored only in iCloud.

I keep receiving an error message "Photos has stopped responding" when I try to upload photos to icloud photo library.

Hi, I had the same problem. I finally figured it out. Plug in the USB cord to your ipad, but beofre plugging it into your computer make sure your ipad is not in the locked or sleep mode. Once I did this, my photos showed up and started downloading. Hope that helps you!
