Photos: how to play slideshow withOUT music?

Does anyone know how to do this in the new Photos when running it in Yosemite? I don't EVER want to hear music during a slideshow, so I'd love to turn it off in preferences. But I would settle for just knowing out to do it whenever I launch a slideshow.

In the slideshow click on the Music button at the right.
Move the cursor up to the small window at the top and the X button will appear when you're over it.  Click on the X and the selected music track will be removed.

How to play movies without wifi access

Not sure what you mean by this?  If you've downloaded a Movie, then it will be installed on your iPad (if downloaded to your iPad of course) and it will play from the iPad as is.
If this doesn't help, please provide more info about what you are trying to do.

  • Reader 9 and X won't play slideshow background music

I have been using Reader 8 satisfactorily, for years, to play slideshows I have made, over many years, using Adobe Album 2.0... admittedly an old program... perhaps 10 years old. Typically I have installed background music in my slideshows. Reader 8 never hesitates to play the slideshows and the music, like a champ.
Two years ago I installed Reader 9 and had to reverse that installation back to version 8, because Reader 9 wouldn't play the background music.
Today I installed Reader X, in the hope that it would play the background music, but this was not the case.
I have verified the presence of Quicktime n my computer, and changed preferences in Reader X to play sounds using Quicktime.  I checked a box that was unchecked, that says to play embedded music.  (Adobe Reader X, Edit, Preferences, Multimedia (Legacy)).
Can anyone vouch for Adobe Reader X's abilty to play slideshow music?
Any help appreciated.  I'd like to adopt Reader X, but I also want my music to play.  Can I re-compile those slideshows, somehow?

Front Row in Mac OS X 10.5.x has been broken the whole time. It used to work fine in Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger). Front Row will not play an iTunes playlist during a slideshow if the playlist contains more than one song. You can use a playlist that only has one song in it, but then you might as well just choose a single song instead of a playlist! I would suggest you send Apple some Mac OS X feedback:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
For what it's worth, iPhoto seems to work fine with slideshows and iTunes playlists with more than one song.

  • How To Play Videos Without Silverlight?

    Hey SHarePoint Fam,
I am looking to start rolling out alot of videos soon but our environment does not have Silverlight deployed in our machine images.  Is there any alternative to get videos to play without Silverlight being deployed to machines?  We are IE8 shop
    Thanks so much,

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to play video without Silverlight.
We can use the HTML 5 to achieve it, however, HTML5 is not supported by all browser (especially the old ones).
As a workaround, we can use the Video.JS  to allow your browser to parse the video tag and play the video with a flash player if your browser does not support HTML5 standards.
    More information about the video.js : http://www.videojs.com/

  • How to play stereo mix music and sing in my mic at the same time?

    I'm using XP...Toshiba Satellite S4747 laptop
In the Realtek software under " Realtek HD audio input" I have mic and stereo mix both.... but I can only select one at a time.....
    Any solutions plzzz thxxxx
On a different note.... a friend of mine whose using one non-Toshiba laptop with win XP has an older version of the Realtek audio driver and can select both mic and stereo mix at the same time... I downloaded that version into my laptop but I still can only select one at a time....

Check the audio settings in Windows and dont forget in Realtek HD audio manager. You can find it in control panel.
I think your microphone is set to mute so check this.

  • How to export slideshow without losing resolution?

I've used Macs for years, but I'm now having my first experiences with iLife. I've found similar questions to this one discussed here, but not exactly this question, I think.
I have created a slideshow in iPhoto, complete with painstakingly set up Ken Burns effects timed to coincide with transition points in the music that accompanies the slide show.
I would now like to send the slide show to a friend, in some way so that the friend can view it in very high resolution, just like I can, and maintaining the timing of slides to music.
How can I do this? Exporting the slideshow as a .mov was a huge disappointment. Iphoto 6 only offers three resolution settings, and even the highest is much too low. Also, the timing got messed up in the .mov -- the slides advance too fast for the music.
I tried Share->Send to iDVD, to see how that would work, but that failed entirely. I got an error message saying "the export movie file could not be created." Some day I'd like to figure out how to fix that problem, but it's only a high (i.e. pre-Christmas) priority if it's necessary to get my friend the slideshow.
So what should I do? Will I need to re-make the entire slideshow in another application? That would take me a lot of time, and also I'm concerned about the level of editing control that I'd have in applications other than iPhoto. It looks like that would give me more control over exact duration of each picture, but less control over exactly how the Ken Burns effect pans and zooms over each picture, which is important to me. Maybe I'm wrong about that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Medhead:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The largest you can get any slideshow will be the size sent to iDVD, 720 x 540. If you create it in iMovie and export as Full Quality that will be the same. If you select Expert Settings you can select the H.264 compression with Best Quality compressions and multipass for best quality.
The best quality slideshows, IMO, is to create them in iDVD from imported stills. You are restricted to just one transition for the slideshow, no KB effect but can add titles or subtitles to selected slides.
The slideshows I've created this way and burned play on my plasma HD tv with great sharpness and clarity. Again its my preference to go this route to have the better image quality. Also with this method it's a true slideshow where the viewer can go backward slide by slide with just one click. No rewinding of the movie like with a regular movie file.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Playing slideshow with music

Is it possible to have music playing in the background while watching picture slideshow. I have selected the songs in iphoto, but for some reason, still not playing.
    Help please.
    'Thanks
    Carrene

Move the first slide to another location in the show and try again.  If it still stalls at the first slide  try creating a new slideshow, use some of the same photos to see if it will transition past the first slide.
If the above fails make a duplicate copy of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home()/  Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your Home()/ Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences..

  • How to play my itunes music when offline

Hello there, I just recently got my new ipad, but whenever i go out, I cant seem to play my movies or music in offline mode, which really annoys me, is there a way of playing music or movies without having net, would love to know how to.
    Kind Regards,
    Passive.

You either sync your iPad to your computer's iTunes library (which does not require you to remain connected to the internet because they're transferred right to the iPad from your computer), or you use iTunes Match (a paid service) which requires an internet connection, but only for items which have not yet been downloaded from iCloud.
If you're not using iTunes Match, disregard the difference.  I suspect that you don't use it, and what you're seeing are iTunes purchases which you have not synced from your computer's library -- if they're not installed on the iPad, they'll appear on the iPad with a cloud next to them and if you want to play them then they have to be downloaded, which of course requires an internet connection.
I find it best to always keep the computer's iTunes library current, and to sync the iPad to the library to keep it current too.  If you buy something from the computer, but have not yet synced it to the iPad, you can download it to the iPad (internet) if you want, or sync to the computer to load it (no internet).
If you are using iTunes Match, then not everything may be located on the iPad and thus you'll need an internet connection to download the item for playback.

  • How to play iTunes and music from external hard drive?

I recently back up all my music from my old computer on to an external hard drive. I have a new computer but don't want to store all the music on the computer's hard drive. I would rather play iTunes and all the music straight off of the hard drive. How do I do this?
I already downloaded and installed iTunes on my external hard drive and my music is on a separate folder. When I open iTunes it says that I have no music in the library. How do I tell iTunes to use all the music from the external hard drive? I do not want to save anything on my computer's internal hard drive if possible because I do not have enough space.
Thanks for the help. Also, if I should clarify anything else then please just let me know!

did you ever find the answer to this question? I have the same problem

  • How to play DVD without menus?

Hello, I'd like to burn a video clip that I cut in FCE onto a DVD without having to use iDVD and without using any menus. Basically, I want the video to play immediately (once I put it in a DVD player. Any ideas?

    Hi
without having to use iDVD and without using any menus.
    A. No movie editor FC E or P - or - iMovie can deliver what's needed to make a DVD
without any program preparing the needed code - sort of .mpeg2
    B. DVDs without menu can be done in several ways with eg
    • Roxio Toast™ - that can do this without any faking what so ever
    • iDVD - but You have to fake part of it
iDVD - my list on this
    from. Klaus1 in Somerset, UK
How to create a DVD in iDVD6 without menu (there are several options)
    1. Easy. Drop your iMovie in the autoplay box in iDVD's Map View, then set your autoplay item (your movie) to loop continously.
Disadvantage. The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
    2. Still easy. If you don't want your (autoplay) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the dropzone (text needs to be black as well).
Disadvantage. The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
    3. Still quite easy but takes more time. Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage. One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
    4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software. Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn.
Disadvantage. you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
    5. The "hard way". Postproduction with myDVDedit (freeware)
    Tools necessary. myDVDedit ( www.mydvdedit.com )
    • create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
    • Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
    • Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
    • Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
    • Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
    • Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
    • Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager.

Most certainly more will fill in - this list is a bit old.

  • How to play playlists without shuffle?

HOw do I turn off shuffle.  I cannot play a playlist or an album without "shuffle" mode engaged?

While listening to a song, any song, tap the artwork one time to bring up additional controls.  You will find the shuffle option on the right hand side.  It looks like to arrows that cross over each other. Tap this icon until it turns white, meaning that it is off.

  • Can I burn a slideshow without music?

I created a simple slideshow in iPhoto, and it doesn't contain music (my choice). Now I want to use iDVD to burn it, but I can't seem to find a way to burn it without there being music attached. Is there a way to burn this project without a soundtrack?
My workaround is to import the .mov generated from iPhoto into Final Cut, render it, and export it for iDVD -- but is there an easier way? It's a pretty lengthy slideshow (~30 minutes), and my Mac is more than capable of doing it, but I feel like there just has to be a different way.
    TIA.

we read reports a while ago, that projects without any audio could force iDVD to behave odd (=endless encoding/freeze....)
the workaorund for that was, to create a 'silent' audio clip...
use any audio app (Garageband, Audacity, ....) to create 30secs of 'nil' ... silence, zero, nada...
use this .aiff to underlay your slideshow...

  • How to play iPhone 5 music through an old stereo receiver?

I have an old stereo receiver hooked up to a home speaker system  and I would like to play music from my iPhone 5?
    How can I do this?

    Police won't take a report.
The judge simply rolls her eyes, even with his admittal he has phone and has used it to stalk me.
What can a lawyer do? None of my three lawyers felt there was anything they could do.
However, if Apple, as I was told by AT&T, could trace the location of the first iPhone to his physical address, I could link the offenses.

  • How to play my own music on iPad2

As part of starting up the new iPad2, I downloaded the iTunes from my iMac.  Did I not also download all my music in the process?  If so, how do I get to view and play my music on the iPad2?  It appears that I can only buy more music from the iTunes store, but I'm sure I'm missing the obvious.  What is the obvious; how do I get to play my music on the iPad2 please?

The music (and any audiobooks) that you synced go into the iPod app (films and TV shows would go into the Videos app). On the iPad the iTunes app is just the iTunes store.
