Photos import into LR3 super contrasty, orange and with a Vignette

My husband wiped off our wireless keyboard while LR3 was open, a bunch of settings windows popped up and now when I import photos they look ok and then when I click on them in develope mode they load and turn super dark, contrasty, orange and with a dark vignette (without touching any settings) Now, LR3 has always colour corrected a slight amount but this is  extreme...can anyone help me out?

What do you have checked on this screen?

I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

If I understand you correctly, when you enter a date in the Adjust Date and Time window, the picture does not update with the date you enter.  If that is the case then something is wrong with iPhoto or your perhaps your library.
How large a date change are you putting in?  iPhoto currently has an issue with date changes beyond about 60 years at a time.  If the difference between the current date on the image and the date you are entering is beyond that range that may explain why this is not working.
If that is not the case:
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: to get to the "home > library" hold down option on the keyboard and click on "Go" > "Library" while in the Finder.
    Let me know the results.

  • Solution to photo imports into IDVD

Much discussion months ago about the poor quality of photos imported into iMovie then exported to DVD. Software "Photo to Movie" by LQ Graphics that does a beautiful job of setting up your photos then render them to full quality QT. From there, import them to iDVD

The secret is space. iTunes seems to almost need the space of the photos BEFORE compression. Not only have I sometimes been unable to sync photos, but sometimes I can't sync all my photos.
Do this: hook up your iPhone, and go into Movies, if you have some, and delete 2 or 3 large movies. Don't worry, we'll put them back.
If you don't have movies, go into Apps, sort by Size, and delete several large apps until you have 2-3 GIGS of space. 2 Gigs will work for under 1000 photos, delete 3 Gigs if you have more.
    Sync.
Now turn on the photos you want, sync again. (these may already have returned on the last sync)
Now go turn on your movies and apps, sync once more.
iTunes syncs the photos LAST, so I have had some albums disappear when my iphone was full, and I added a large movie or app.
    It's all about space.

  • Picture auto-rotation on import into LR3 ?

    Hello !
When importing directly from a card into LR3, vertical pictures are displayed correctly in the library, but JPEGs are not rotated in the file system.
That's not too much of an issue if you edit with CS5, or export the pictures. In those cases they are handled appropriately.
However if you edit with something else (in my case Topaz's filters via Topaz Fusion Express), the pictures aren't rotated appropriately.
    Context: W7x64, LR3, Cameras (EOS5D, G10) set to Auto-rotate "on"
Any idea about how to fix this?
    Many thanks!
    Jean-Paul

    Ok - bear with me...
Workflow1: import pictures from camera, with Canon EOS Utility or Canon CameraWindow. Both of them activate ZoomBrowser.
Result: jpegs and raws stored in the file system.
View with Windows explorer, all thumbnails have correct orientation.
Edit with CS5 orientation is correct.
Workflow2: import pictures from card, with Adobe LR3.
Result: jpegs and raws stored in file system.
View with Windows explorer, vertical photos are not displayed correctly (not rotated).
View in LR3 library, orientation is correct.
Edit in CS5 (called from LR3) orientation is correct.
Edit in Topaz Fusion Express (called from LR3) orientation is not correct.
I moved from 1 to 2 because of Canon's inability to provide a driver for W7x64, and, more importantly, because of the workflow improvement with LR3. The incorrect orientation is of course not a showstopper, but an annoyance...
    Thanks

  • Photos imported into wrong folder

When running an import and setting destination to import into subfolder organised by date (2011/2011-04-29) the ophotos taken late in the day do not go into the correct folder, they import into the next days folder. It appears the calculation used for the import does not take into acct regional settings.
Using lightroom 3.4 (also seen with 3.2 and 3.3)
Any ideas other than manually sorting all photos?
I notice that the Canon import software correctly sorts the photos, just have to use that then synchronise in lightroom, not good but at least till adobe fix the bug it will have to do.

Can you find out exactly how many hours  difference there is ?

  • Photo imported into ID is not as black as surrounging black

    Hello all.
Using CS5.  In creating a document in ID, an image that has been done in Photoshop with strong black backgrounds is imported into ID using File > Place.  In ID, there are two black panels on each side of the photo.  On screen it looks fine (blacks match) but on printing, the black in the photo is not as black (more grayish) than the two side panels.  Is there anything that could be done to enhance the black in the photo?
    Thanks.

I don't believe I've ever seen a photo with a black background that wasn't added in Photoshop that had the same flat color throughout, so the odds of getting a perfect match all the way along all edges is practically nil.
You might want to consider removing the background in Photoshop and placing the photo in a frame with the black fill, or go with the flow a bit and use a colro that decidedly does not match so it doesn't look like you tried and failed. I'll often use a white (or some other contrasting color) line around the edge to break the two apart, too.
It's also very important that you set the prefernence for Appearance of Black to Display All Blacks Accurately or you have no idea what the really look like.

  • Cropped photos -import into iMovie, but reverts to original

Anyone have this problem? Cropped photos in iPhoto and iView look fine in their own habitat, but when I import them into iMovie, they revert back to their original uncropped photo - frustrating since these are photos eliminating the letterbox, so there are black lines on two sides, so the cropping within iMovie does not work.
    Thank you for any information!

Hi S. Katie - your problem with iPhoto is most likely because when you crop them in the iPhoto window you are not affecting the ORIGINAL photo, and it must be that original photo that iMovie recognises and imports.
So long as they are of good quality, you should be able to use the Ken Burns zoom function to 'crop' them even after they are already in your project.
To batch alter the duration of your stills, firstly select them, then make the adjustment in the Photos Pane and click 'Update'. Note, though, that transitions must be re-rendered (a note to that effect will appear on the screen).

  • Incredibly slow photo import into iMovie 11

Can anyone tell me how to speed up the uploading of photos for a time lapse movie into iMovie 11?  I am trying to upload 3232 8 meg pics, and so far it has been 14 hours.  At the current upload rate, it looks like it will take about 18 hours total.  This seems to me to be ridiculously long, but I can't seem to find a way to upload them any faster.  As a recent convert to Mac, I am mostly impressed with my new iMac, but on this point it is like a drunken dinosaur.  Any help appreciated, including any tips on any free program other than iMovie that I might use to speed up the process.

Matt- thanks for the response.   To be honest, I was recording in whatever the default mode was.   I did not realize there was a 60i vs a 60p.   I will look into that.
As far as imports go- I have the camera hooked up to the usb port of my iMac and have iMovie running.   I selected import from the camera and it brings up the window I described in my post.  I also tried to just import movies- but got the same response.

  • Raw & Jpeg import into LR3.3

    Hi,
Just upgraded to LR3.3; I can now import RAW files from my Sony A33.  I shot the images using the RAW & JPEG setting.  The import was sucessful and the file extensions on the image shows ARW & JPEG.  My question is, how can I access the images separately; the RAW and the JPEG.  In IPhoto the images show up separately.  I'm a newbie to LR; any help appreciated.

If you have "Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separate photos" checked in your preferences, LR will import ARW and JPEG completely seperately and you can access (and work on) both of them. But there won't be any automatic synchronization of metadata and such.
If you have this option not checked, the JPEGs are only imported as so called "Sidecar Files", which you cannot look at or access for development.

  • Different colors after imported into LR3

I really i do not know what is this problem related to, but after I imported pitures into lightroom , it makae some modification and change the color of the picture.
    Here are the examples:
The picture rendered by CDPP, looks as i wanted the picture to look like (also looks like this in the camera), while the one in LR modified the color, I have check the setting in the importer and i do not apply any preset. What am i am doing wrong? or there is a known problem in LR? Note: the render preview option is minimal.
The other issue i have. is when i shoot a picture with a high iso it ended up in LR with a red color. if needed i can post some exmaples as well.
    Thanks for the help.

    Helena,
    You're right.
    @Cafu_co,
Lightroom won't automatically match your camera settings, and it never will.
What you can do is to edit a file in Lightroom so it approximates the starting point that you'd like to have, and then make that the default change to the image that you're presented with after importing. You set the default in the Develop Module: hold down the Alt/Opt key and the button on the lower right of the window changes to Set Defaults... Press it.
One of the things that you'll want to investigate during that process is the Profile setting in the Camera Calibration panel. Most Canon models have profiles available that mimic your picture styles that can be set in the camera.

  • Why won't iPhone photos import into iPhoto?

When I try to import photos from iPhone 4S to iPhoto '08 I get a message saying it doesn't recognize the files. I can see the photos fine on my phone and can even text message and email them without any problem. Every time I try to import new photos I get this same message. Therefore, I have not been able to import any new photos or videos I've taken for over a month. Please, anyone out there know how to solve this problem?

Good to read and note error messages - it turns out that there is a reason to have them - they often explain problems and the solution to the problem
Do you have any new photos in the camera roll that have not been previously imported? have you triedPhotoStream - that is generally the prefered way to import photos now? What happens when you click on the phone in the source pane?

  • I purchased an audio CD that I then imported into iTunes - I can find (and play) the new music from iTunes - however when I try and load it on my phone I can not see the new album as one that I can select in the music listings available for download.

It seems that recent additions to my iTunes library are not available for download to my (or my son's) iphone - other albums by the same artist are available.
    Any help is appreciated...

Audiobooks (and ringtones) are currently a one-time only download from the store. If you don't have it on a backup of your downloads then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • Can't import into iMovie even after converting files with Mpeg streamclip

    Hi,
I have been trying to create iMovie proejcts with .mpeg, .mpg, .mpa. IMovie could not import the files (it tells me it's an uknown error). Then, using mpeg streamclip and exporting the files to quicktime, DV and Avi (tried all the formats that I knew iMovie would support) iMovie still wouldn't import the files.
What am I doing wrong? I have the latest version of iMovie.
    Please Help!
    Thank you!!!

Have you done the conversion like this:
To convert a DVD or MPEG to DV with MPEG Streamclip (v1.8 or later): Open a desired .VOB on a DVD (DVD/VIDEOTS/VTS_011.VOB, for example) or a MPEG file.
Select the In/Out points if you want to extract just a portion of the video.
Choose "File/Export to DV.../Compression: DV (DV25)". Choose the same video format (PAL/NTSC) as the iMovie project is.
Choose "Split DV stream in Segments" if the content is more than 9 minutes 27 seconds because iMovie 1-4 can't reliably handle longer clip files and it might be a good idea to limit the converted .dv file's size anyway (segmented clips play seamlessly in iMovie).
...and is there enough room on the HD where the iMovie project is? 60 minutes of .dv is 13 GB and iMovie duplicates an imported .dv file so you need 26 GB/hour (unless you use the secret shortcut that prevents the duplication .
