Photos in Aperture do not wrap in rows, go straight off to right

Photos in Aperture go right off to the right in one long row.  They no longer wrap in any project.  And NO I don't have filmstrip selected.   I'm well aware of the modes of view.
I've seen others with this proble here but the discussions were archived. Any solution?   Very annoying.
Thanks

This happened after a power outage.  I've since rebuilt the database, but the problem persists.
I have each projec exported to a fileshare as a backup - if I needed to re-import all my photos is there a way to point to a file share and say "import all directories each directory being a project"?  I have each project broken out into a directory with all photos in it.   I don't do any editing in Aperture so I don't care about versions.
Thanks

  • Computer uploads photos to Aperture and not to iPhoto

I recently bought Aperture.   Now when I add photos they show in Aperture but not in iPhoto.   What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for comments above.   I checked again looking at the "Photos" view of the library as opposed to the "Events" (iPhoto) or "Projects" (Aperture) view.    What I found is that in the Photos view I can see the same in both iPhoto and Aperture.   They are using the same library|    But whereas in Aperture recent projects are added near the bottom in approximately (but somewhat randomly) date order, in iPhoto the  new events are added right at the top before my earliest 2003 events.
Any ideas on why that may be and how to correct?
Everything is latest version as my MacBook Pro died recently and I replaced it in May with a new desktop iMac.

  • Photos in Aperture could not sync with iTunes

I am using aperture 2 to manage all of my photo which is a great idea so far. I put my original into my external hard drive instead of into Aperture library. I am sure that all my photos refer to the right places because I can fine it when I click the function "show in my finder".
However, in iTune, when I try to sync my photo from aperture from the way of selected folder, the folder doesn't have any photo inside.
Thank you very much for your answer in advance.

iTunes uses your previews to sync images.
In Aperture, Choose Aperture >> Preferences then Click the Previews tab and make sure Share Previews with iLife and iWork is checked. You can also control the size of the previews in the Preferences.
If you haven't set it up to automatically generate previews in Preferences, you will have to generate them manually: select all the photos in the Album you plan to sync, and choose Images>> Update Previews.

  • How do we get Front row to get photos from Aperture

I just got Leopard and with it came Front Row. I thought this would be great to show my photos form Aperture however Front Row does not display any photos. How do i create a path for Front Row to use.

Do you have previews enabled? Front Row will require previews.

  • Can not sync all photos in Aperture into Iphone 5

I can not sync all photos in Aperture into Iphone 5. It always can sync some photos into 5. Then finish and prompts: "itunes can not synchronize (other)thousands of projects, and see more information in itunes".  That means most of my photos can not seen on Iphone 5, it seems just can't import to 5. Is that the problem of Iphone or the pictures in Aperture, or even just because lack of sufficient space?

  • Text will not wrap around a photo in indesign cs3?

we have tried EVERYTHING. we use adobe indesign for our school newspaper and for the past 3 days we have been trying to get one of the articles (text) to wrap around a photo.
the photo is a simple rectangle shape. for all of the other pages, the text wraps around photos perfectly fine. but for some reason on this one page it will not wrap around any picture at all.
of course "text wrap" is selected for the photo and we also tried going to the text frame options and unchecked ignore text wrap. that still didn't work.
we tried putting it on "detect edges" and that also did not work. ):
please please please if you have any suggestions, add them!!! we really need to fix this issue because this page needs these pictures!

I just encountered the same problem, the text did not wrap around the image whatever i did. I found the solution on my problem, that i had an imagebox underneath the image, which i was not aware of. I discovered it when i deleted first the textframes and the image. After i deleted the second imagebox the text wrapped around the image as i wanted it!

  • Aperture will not add photos to existing Facebook Albums

    I am currently using Aperture 3.4.5 ..
I have a host of over 50 existing albums on my facebook and I regularly add content to them without any issues what-so-ever, however, two days ago, I tried to add 4 photos to an existing alblum using the normal method of: highlight photos, Share/Facebook, pick the album name from drop down menu, publish.  Normally at this stage, at the bottom of the Aperture window, it'd say something like publish or sync with Faceboon ... but not this time.
I then go to check in my Facebook tab under Web, click into the album and found that the photos which I wanted to add are showing a tick on them, suggesting that the photos are already uploaded onto facebook but the photo count does not match, for example, the album had 8 photos in and i tried to add 4 more, .. the photo count still shows 8 but inside the ablum, all 12 photos have ticks onto of them.

What is the source and details of the format of the photo that will not sync?
    Additional Information
Verify that photos are in a compatible format. On a Mac, these file formats will sync from your iPhoto Library to your device: JPG, JPEG, TIFF, PICT, GIF, PNG, JPG2000 or JP2, PSD, SGI, and BMP.
On Windows, these file formats will sync to your device: JPG , JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIF, TIFF, PSD, SGI, and PNG.
Photos without extensions may not appear on your device.

  • Photo edits in aperture are not being updated in Photostream

I want to edit photos in iPhoto on an iPad mini and also in Aperture and have the changes synchronised either using photostream or a direct connection. Try as I may I can't get this to happen. If I move a photo in Aperture to the photostream then it appears on the iPad and vice versa. If I subsequently edit a photo on either device the changes are not propagated to the other device and the photostream image is not updated. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong, or is this feature simply not supported.

Photo Stream can be used to automatically share photos to other devices, but it will not sync the photos. If you edit photos and want to share the edited version as well, you will have to add this edited version again to the Photo Stream. Also the photos will not be stored in the Photo Stream for more than a month.
You might consider to use iTunes Photo sync instead:
iOS and iPod: Syncing photos using iTunes
With iTunes Photo Sync you can update the albums synced to your iPad, when you change the albums and edit the photos on your mac, but changes done on your iPad will also not sync back. You have to reimport the edited photos from your iPad.
There is simply no simple way yet to sync iPad and Mac, if you are looking for a solution to do some editing on your iPad and keep iPad and Mac in perfect sync.
Maybe some third party software can do that, but neither the Photos app nor iPhoto on iPad has means to do that.

  • Aperture 3 not referencing photo files after reload

Using Aperture 3.  Scrubbed hard drive and restored system.  Moved files back from backup Reloaded A 3 from original disk, it remembered categories, albums, etc. but not thumbnails.  Photos stored as files not in Aperture library. help Aperture find photos without loosing all my albums, etc.

You'll need to run File->Locate Referenced Files..
Bassically select all images in Aperture that are listed as having a missing or offline master then run the command.
You might want to take a minute and read up on the command in the uer manual before runing it.

    Galdaplh,
What do you mean by "reverting to photo"?  "Revert" is not a function in Aperture so you must be talking about something else.
If you just performed the import of that many photos, Aperture will take some time to generate thumbnails.  You can see if it is doing this sort of thing by {Command}-{Shift}-0 to show the Activity window.
Once Aperture generates all its thumbnails, you will have nearly instantaneous access to much, much better thumbnails than Aperture uses immediately after importing photos.

  • Aperture is not showing all photos in photo stream.

Aperture is not showing all photos in photo stream.  I have re-set photo stream from within the aperture app, but it only downloads a small fraction of my photo stream.  Any ideas?

Sorry but you're wrong, as the article that you quoted pointed out
Since your Mac has more storage than your iOS devices, your photos automatically download and your Mac keeps every photo from your Photo Stream by default

  • Photos edited in Aperture do not update on iPhone

I am syncing a number of photos from Aperture to my iPhone via iTunes. If I edit a photo in Aperture that is being synced, when I next sync, the version on the iPhone is not always updated. This does not happen every time but enough to notice.
Any ideas on how to ensure that the iPhone is updated when I edit a photo?
I'm using Aperture 3 (latest fix), Lion (fully updated), iTunes 10.5 and an iPhone 4S with iOS 5.0.1
    Thanks
    Richard

Just downloaded the latest Aperture patch and this problem has still not been fixed. Looking at the number of disucssions on various forums this is a very wide spread problem that Apple seems to be ignoring.
I've tried many of the fixes that others have tried and at best the results are intermittent. Sometimes the edited photos sync and sometimes not. That said, we shouldn't be looking for workarounds so we can view our photos on iPhones and iPads. This should just work.
I really don't want to move away from Aperture as in all other areas, I find this a very good piece of software but this one bug is really 'bugging' me. I did talk to one of the staff in an Apple store about this but I was told that I had to demonstrate the problem to them for anything to happen and I really don't fancy lugging my iMac into the shop.
I'll keep looking for a solution for now but I don't know how long I'll put up with this for.

  • So if Aperture does not provide the ability to burn photos to dvd/cd how do you go about doing that?

So if Aperture does not provide the ability to burn photos to dvd/cd how do you go about doing that?

Simply mount a disc in the drive, then in Aperture Export your versions to that location.  Later in the Finder, Burn.  No need for special function.

  • Apple tv 2 slow to update new photos from aperture (I mean hours)

    Hi....
I have a large photo library within aperture 3.1.2, and I have an apple TV 2 that I use for casual browsing of the library.
The issue that I have is that when I add new photos to aperture, it can take a day or more until they show up in apple tvs photos.
Its almost as if apple tv is looking at an older version of my aperture library.
I have done a software update in the mac that serves apple tv, and also, ensured that apple tv is up to date. I've tried closing itunes, aperture, logged off, log on, rebooted apple tv 2 (by unplagging)- to no avail, restarted itunes, aperture, apple tv etc etc.
I just dont seem to be able to say to apple tv 2 the equivalent of "hey, go an refresh your view of aperture, there are new photos in there "
This is really frustrating, because the photos that i want to look at the most, are typically those that I have just taken.
Its really weird. As an other example, if i make a new smart album in aperture say "photos from last couple of days", with the obvious smart album selection criteria, then this too does not appear in apple tv 2 until a few hours later.
This smart album works as expected in aperture- no problems.
They will turn up later, but apparently with no rhyme or reason as to the timing.
I think its down to apple TV storing an older version of metadata for the aperture library.
I could understand it if I had no photos at all coming across, or if only photos with previews that come across, but no, it doesnt appear to be any setting such as that, becuase they will come over, eventually.
This appears to be a big bug- New photos cant be shown on apple TV for a day or two - grrrrrr.
Im pulling my hair out with it.
    Any help really appreciated

Yes, I have the same issue also.
It look like only the last import is missing somehow.
For example, yesterday I import photos from DC and iPhone, and put them in one event.
Only the DC part shown up, and iPhone photo are missing.
If I use "Last 12 month" section in Apple TV and jump to bottom, you can see some empty squares, and not viewable. Somehow it is not updated.

  • How can I delete a photo from aperture but keep it on my computer

I recently purchased A3 from the App Store and have begun migrating photos to its program.
It's also given me a chance to go through and see which photos I would rather not have in A3 but I don't want to delete totally. So here's my question:
When I delete a photo from A3 is there a way to keep the original in it's location but just not pulled into A3's database? I tend to keep files where they are and even though I don't want it in A3, I still want to keep the photo on my external database. Yes, I could just select one photo at a time to incorperate but I just wanted to do a select all and then hand filter out in post.
Thanks and hope this made sense.

When the Master of an Image in your Aperture Library is located anywhere outside of that Library, it is called a "Referenced Master".  Aperture gives you complete control of your Images' Masters -- you can relocate them, consolidate them, reconnect them, etc.
Every Image has a Master.  The Master is a file on a drive.  When you delete the last Image in a Library that uses a Master, Aperture will ask you if you want to delete the Master file as well.  For your purposes, say "No".
You should probably experiment with a practice Library and make sure you end up with a workflow that meets your needs.  One thing Aperture can't do is mark which files in Finder are Masters.  To group your files by "Master/not-Master" in Finder, you will have to go into Aperture and move all of the Masters to another location.  The files left are not Masters.
Note that Aperture puts deleted Masters in the System trash.  They are put in a folder named after your Library -- I think -- in any case they are easy to identify.  Until you empty the system trash, they are available from there.
All of which begs the question:  why keep the Master but remove it from your Library?  You could simply create an Album (or a Project, depending on your use of Projects) called "Archive", and put all of those Images there.
