Photos in contacts display differently when incoming call

G'day people
Most of my contacts in the Address Book have photos and, of course, they imported together with other contact details when I plugged my iPhone into my iMac. However, what's strange is that some photos display full screen when that contact calls me and other photos just display a small picture next to the contact's name. Anybody have any idea why?
I notice that if I take a photo on the iPhone and assign it to a contact, that photo will always display full screen.

Yes, that's what I thought as well. However, there are pictures that I assigned to contact on the computer that display full screen when that contact calls as well as full screen for those contacts where I took the and assigned the photos on the iPhone itself.

This is a very important option, i think it is a must, not an option and apple should fix this problem fastly. because it is already available in the older models of iPhone like iPhone 3G and 3GS.
How an important feature like this could be available in old models, but in the later models is not available?

Currently not possible without putting the company name in the contact name's field. AFAIK, it's never been available on any iOS version.
You might check the App Store for an app that can do this although I'm pretty sure you won't find one.

Normally they do not -- but I assume that my photos and contacts can disappear at any time for any reason and act accordingly even when not doing an update. This and other forums have hundreds of posts of lost pictures and lost contacts caused by all sorts of situations and issues.
In addition to backing up to iCloud or via iTunes, I would recommend that you import the pictures to your computer if you have one: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 and that you sync your contacts http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296

Have you checked your sound prefs after you updated the OS? It's possible they got changed during the update.

Go to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn LED Flash for Alerts to Off.

How do you get a contact's photo to show full-screen when they call?

A friend sees a large full-screen photo of some of his contacts when they call. I only see a small round circle with the name next to it? Is there a setting that makes this happen? Both of us on 5c iPhones with OS 8.

I've just solved it through Apple, but want to share the answer for others. Even with ALL of the near-seamless syncing between my Mac, iPad and iPhone, the only way you get a full screen photo of the person calling your iPhone is if you've assigned a photo ON YOUR PHONE to that contact in your iPhone's contacts app. Doesn't matter that Mac's "contacts" already has a photo that you assigned there before. That photo will only show up as the small round mugshot next to the caller ID UNLESS you duplicate the action of assigning the contact with another photo that's in your phone's collection of shots to the contact's listing in iPhone's "Contacts" app.

N8 Display turns totally black when incoming call ...

My N8's display always turns totally black when there is an incoming call, or even when the
alarm rings. Before can see the caller's name and answer the call, I have to disable the screen's "keylock".
I tried to find a point in the phone settings wher I can avoid this, but didn't find any. Is anybody out there to give me a hint ?

When I am inside, the screen acts normally: it goes black when held close to face. It returns to normal as soon as taken from my face. However, the screen also goes black if I am outside in daytime when I have an incoming call, and when I make calls also, as soon as I press the green call button. It "thinks" it is near my face. If I slide the button on the right side of the phone down twice, the screen lights back up normally but the touch screen will not function. At that point I cannot answer the phone, or if I'm already making a call I cannot hang up nor press the speaker phone button.
There is nothing over the face of the phone. I removed the protective plastic cover but that did not help.
This seems to occur only when I am outside in the sunlight, so it has something to do with a sensor, either light or heat.
I am aware that this problem has occurred on other N8s. I have not found any solutions for it. Perhaps it is not a problem on every N8. I updated the software last week to 111.040.1511 Symbian Belle. That software date is from 2012-07-28.

How do I save a contact after ending their incoming call?

I plan to use my new iphone for my business. When a potential client calls, I often want to save them to my contacts for future calls.
I can't figure out how to 'save' their phone # to my contacts list immediately after ending the call.

The contact in which the photo does appear (along with the contact's name as well) is one that I added myself. I have photos added for many of the people in my Contact List, but neither their photo nor their name appears to me whenever they call or text me.
I know how to add a photo to a contact's information within my Contact List. I need to know how I can make that photo (or even the contact's name) appear whenever I have an incoming call/text from them. What I am seeing is just their phone number, and I do not know everyone's phone number well enough to recognize from whom I am getting a call/text. It would be much easy if their photo or name appeared instead.

Contacts not showing on incoming calls

Hi. I have a 9300. I do not subscribe to call display with my carrier provider, but used to get a picture of the person calling me if they were one of my contacts. I plugged my phone into my computer and got all the updates it suggested. Now when someone calls from my contacts, it just shows them as unknown. Anyone know how to get this working again? I had the same issue. I just visited the Apple store today. He switched my keyboard settings from english to french and back again. That corrected my issue. Hope this can help you, too!

How can I change the display name when I call someone?

I recently gave a re-provisioned 8300 to a new employee. I wiped out the phone, and re-setup the phone in our exchange server to match the new user's settings.
The only problem he's having is that when he calls someone, the display name shows the previous users name as the person calling.
How do I change that?

You don't say what model the device is, but if GSM, make sure the SIM card has not been edited to the preview name.
Options > Advanced > SIM card > Menu > Edit Sim Phone Number

Iphone hangs when incoming call

each time my phone has an incoming call, the phone hangs. I cannot slide to answer the phone. What happens?

Hello Recently, I started experiencing problems with my iPhone 4. Sometimes, but more and more often, I can not move the slide to pick up the phone. and this is not a problem the screen, as in any other application, the screen is perfectly responsive to clicks.
and it became yet worse now - slide is moved but raising of tube does not take place. such problem I sometimes notice for the users of not dear android telephones, but I did not buy a telephone after 600$ in order that to test the same problems. when this situation happens - I look as a blockhead nervously trying to heave up a tube. more frequent than all it does not turn out and I have to ring up a subscriber.

Able to schedule when incoming calls use ringer or vibrate only?

I'm planning on getting a Pearl 8120 as soon as my discount kicks in at T-Mobile, and there's a feature I'm really hoping it has or that there's an app that'll do it for me. I'd like to be able to schedule when incoming phone calls notify me with vibrate only and when they use an audible ring tone. Something like: 8am-10am vibrate only, 10am-2pm ringer on, 2pm-5pm vibrate only, 5pm-8am ringer on, etc., A weekend vs weekday mode would be great also. Is this possible? I didn't see anything about in the pdf manual, but I'm still hoping.

For future searchers, I did find two that would do it, but there's a catch to them. Due (according to them) Blackberry's built-in security, neither can make the changes while the keyboard is locked. If the keyboard is locked at a time when you've scheduled a change from vibrate to audible ringer (or vice versa), they'll notify you by vibrating the phone that it is time to make the change, but the user has to unlock the phone momentarily to allow the change to be made.
They are Toysoft's Profiler and the other one is called Profile Scheduler.

Yes, calls to 800 numbers should be supported. Where are you getting the pop up window? At what point does this happen? When adding the 800 number in the portal? When making the call?
It should say "free" or $0 as the cost next to the phone number in the STG portal. Is this the case?

I am writing an Adobe Flex Developers Center article on converting the Flex Dashboard example application to Flex 4.

The problem is the application renders differently when you right-click that application, download the zip source file, and compile it locally in Flex Builder 3 (see screenshot below).
Could a few of you please visit the above URL, download the code, import the project, then launch the app and tell me what you see?
After importing you will need to create an empty libs folder and right click another error message to recreate the html templates.
