Photos in iOS8

The best photo feature on my iPhone is the album called Faces. Prior to iOS8, the Faces were alphabetical, so it was quite easy to find people whose photos I wanted to display. This is no longer the case.
I have over 200 Faces in my Faces Album and it is too cumbersome to scroll down to find the one I am looking for.
Is there some way to revert back to the alphabetical listing in the album?

There is nothing mentioned in the iPhone User Guide iOS8, on how to sort the albums, and neither in the additional help texts - Get help finding your Photos in iOS 8 .
So I am afraid, there is no way right now to sort (faces) albums.

I Often want to create different versions of the same photo....with different crops, contrast, etc and keep them. In iPhoto, that was done with the duplicate command, but there does not seem to be the same capability in ios8. Any ideas?

You can't. You make separate projects using the same or different clips, segments, transitions, titles, etc. You can even duplicate the first project and then modify/make the desired changes in the duplicated project. Each project can then be burned as a different DVD or as different titles on the same DVD if there is enough room.

Why did i lose my photos with ios8

when i downloaded ios8 i lost over 600 pictures and all my photo stream pictures and im very upset so if someone could help me that'd be great!

I'm wondering the same thing... I had over 1000+ photos and videos on my camera roll as well as my photo stream and now neither are there. Instead it's showing me 100 "recently added" photos that were just taken within the past month. I had photos and videos from the past 2 years and I really would like them back...

Grainy photos in iOS8

Since downloading iOS8 (big mistake) onto my iPad the photos taken with the camera are terrible quality, very grainy. With iOS7 they were lovely and clear. Having most of the problems everyone else is having also.

What were the sizes of the original images that were used in the album. It appears that you've set the album to 1 column which will increase the image size of the photo used for that image. This demo page show the different sizes of images used for the different parts of a My Albums page: AlbumImageSize .
Try moving the spacing slider to the left a bit in the Media Index settings pane to reduce the album image size somewhat. The pixelation might be reduced to an acceptable level.

Unhappy with photos in IOS8

I am really disappointed with the way photos are now displayed in IOS 8. I spent almost 4 hours online with 3 different reps who told me they could restore my phone back to showing "Camera Roll" and "Videos". Was supposed to get a call from engineering today but, after waiting over an hour and a half, I called. I was advised that a very large number of users have the same complaint about IOS8. In addition, I have lost approximately 90 photos. I hope Apple will see the light and fix this glitch.

Sure....Do you think this change will be permanent? The rep told me that a large number of users share the same concern. Based on your 13 years experience, do you think they will make changes to the way photos are displayed? Is there a way to delete the location or month and day the photos were taken? If so, would the photos be visible as before? Thanks...

Family sharing and photo sharing iOS8

We have four iPhones, two iPads, a mac that is our family backup, and an Apple TV. These all used to be logged into my Apple ID in order to share media purchases and the photos we all took. With iOS 8 and family sharing, we are each logged into our own account on our own devices now. The apps are sharing fine. However, I want the photos to share as they once did - the computer (Yosemite) is logged into my Apple ID still, so my phone's photos are uploading. But what about everyone else? It seems I can only log into one iCloud account for iPhoto. How can I make photo uploads automatic once more? Am I missing something? I thought we could share photos with family, but all I see now is a shared photo stream that we must voluntarily upload things to.

I too have this question, and have received nothing helpful wherever I have asked since the initial iCloud Photo Library announcement both here at Apple's Support Communities and elsewhere.
My plan is to go back to using a single Apple ID for all my family's devices and use iCloud Photo Library, but we will lose the ability to use Find My Friends for my family members.
Apple don't seem to have considered families who have family photo libraries when it comes to the new iCloud Photo Library. Considering the move towards Family Sharing, this is odd.

Why is it so hard to copy photos since ios8

Why the heck has this become such a problem?. Windows no longer sees my photos (7 or vista) .. On any another computer I try to copy the photos It stops when it finds an empty invalid drive on the phone (I have hundreds now) is it because the lightning cable connection is terrible and disconnects so much Apple won't let me say it s.u.c.k.s. it reconnects over and over and over (get my point) I could always downlod (IE Copy) my photos to any of my windows based PC before ios 8. now it is worthless to even try. I have 10 I phones on my company plan seems like it is time for other options. Since they made it such a problem to copy the photos I took to my computer. (I still have 1 XP pc and that is even less than worthless!) because the photos show up as some invalid format not supported.

Can't find photos in iOS8 (yes, I checked Collections and played with Settings)

I recently inherited an iPhone 5s from someone else who got a 6, and I activated the 5s with my Apple ID and restored it to the latest backup I had of my iPhone 4 (made just moments before restoring the 5s). Like many other users, I had a hard time finding my photos. I browsed online for different solutions, switched Photo Stream off/on in Settings, I switched iCloud Library beta on/off, I switched photo summary off, went into Collections, but still do not see my photos.
I connected the iPhone to my Windows 7 computer and iTunes found some photos but not all of them (about 130 out of 250). All of the photos are still available in the Photo Stream on my iPhone 4.
Any other suggestions to get all of my photos into the 5s, please?

Thank you for the link, but I'm not sure what exactly you're pointing me to. I had already tried the options in that article, and I just turned on Photo Library Beta again and it still doesn't bring in all my photos. Are you telling me to contact Apple?

How do you label photos using ios8

Can you label photos in ios 8. Add metadata, etc.

Unless there is an app that provides for this, you don't. You can't see the name or label of photos on the iPad.
Photos in the iPad's Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. Change the name or label of the photos on your computer.

Why can't I email photos on ios8?

When I go to photos > select > select photos I want to send > click the square with the arrow in the bottom left corner
For some reason email is not an option. It always was, now it goes, message, iCloud photo sharing, facebook, and flick and more.
I have checked in more but no sign of the email icon.
I am using an iPhone 5S upgraded to iOs 8.1.2, the most recent upgrade.

How many pictures are you trying to send?
I just did a test on my phone and I selected a bunch of picture and then I went to the arrow with square and my only option is to use message.
There is a size limitation for sending files via emails.
You should be able to send one or two at a time instead of bulk - if that is what your doing.

IPad apps can't access photos after iOS8 upgrade

I've got a number of apps on my iPad that used to be able to access the photos in my iPad Photos app but no longer can access them. I checked under Privacy > Photos that they are enabled and I went to General > Restrictions and made sure all restrictions are off. I changed nothing after the upgrade and all the apps could access photos before the upgrade.

Hold down ⌥ and ⌘ whilst launching photos and try repairing the library.

Missing photos since ios8

I Have iPhone 5S, and since the update today I have lots of photos missing from both my iPhone and iPad ... I had over 100 photos and now only have 34 ...just one album titled 'recently added' and one 'videos' .... Plus another for 'recently deleted' ..... Same on both iPhone and iPad mini ....I had a lot of important photos which I cannot get now and cannot believe these have now disappeared for good...
what at has happened and how can I get them back ???

You can try resetting your iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears. Try again to see if the problem persists.

I don't see the photo extensions menu in ios8

WHen i open a photo in ios8 and then select "edit" I am supposed tomsee a "more" icon, but I don't have it on my screen

When you open photos in your camera roll and hit edit - that allows you to edit the picture.
Look at the bottom you should 3 three icons an arrow pointing up a heart and a trash icon.
Select the arrow - and select the option you want.

Make a backup to save it.
Open "Photos" to migrated your photos to Photos, otherwise your photos will be deleted
Right now, iPhoto is unsupported on iOS 8 and does not run.
Unfortunately, Photos is not a full replacement for iPhoto. Many features are missing, as you will discover - no Journals, no books, no brushed adjustments, no tags, no Info panel.
