Photos in iPhoto are not mine??????

Hello,
I've been using iPhoto for a couple of months and am familiar with it's workings.
I have only loaded photos from a Spain trip my wife recently took. That's it. Nothing else.
Imagine my surprise then, when I started iPhoto today and found an album named "Eccentrik's Photos" with 12 sub albums containing 1200++ photos of people I've never seen in my life.
I haven't downloaded anything to iPhoto, and as stated previously, have only loaded my wife's Spain photos into iPhoto.
The only downloading I did recently was (during this same computer session, and previous to starting iPhoto), Firefox needed to do an automatic update/installation. That's it.
Lastly, I'm the only one who uses my computer and it is password protected, so nobody could've gotten on my computer or logged in remotely to put the pictures in my iPhoto.
Any suggestions as to what is going on, how this happened, how to prevent it from happening again and how to contact "Eccentrik" to get him (presumably) his photos back as these may be the only copies he has (or might think he has only to find HIS iPhoto empty next time he opens it)?
Please let me know as I'm a little confused and very displeased with the fact that this sort of thing can happen.

Let me guess: you're on an unsecured wireless network, your iPhoto is set up to 'Look For Shared Libraries' You have a neighbour who is sharing his library, and guess what? You looked and found it.
Solution: password protect your network and / or disable 'Look For Shared Libraries'.

You should be able to tell in iPhoto. If not, right click on the photo in iPhoto and select "Reveal in Finder". You should see the file. Right click on it and select "Get Info"

If you want help you’ll need to give us more information. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?

Weird photos (gifs. jpg.) appearing in images that are not mine

When I look in images on my desktop mac there are weird gifs and jpgs that are not mine. Where did they come from and how do I get rid of them?

They may belong to the system, or to applications. The "All Images" search shows you images all across your hard drive, not just in your personal pictures folder. When you scroll down and click on an image in that search list, the status bar at the bottom of the window will tell you the path for that image. That will tell you what application it belongs to. Most of the time, you don't want to delete images that belong to the system or apps, since it can prevent things from working correctly.

What problems are you having ? You should be able to sync photos by connecting and selecting your iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders (or iPhoto albums/events) to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.

I tried the Export function but it would not allow me to choose the option of exporting to iMovie. I think you are right about needing Quicktime Pro. I opened iMovie and imported the clip from iPhoto and with some searching found the 'cropping, rotation' mechanism. So I now have a copy in the correct orientation. I plan to import/export it back to iPhoto because I want to have a copy on my iPhone to show people and I wanted to have it available as part of a slideshow I am making in iPhoto of my recent overseas trip. It is a pain that there is no simple orientating tool for the movie clips downloaded to iPhoto with the photos from the one camera.

In System Preferences>Desktop and Screen Saver, I have the Desktop set to use iPhoto, changing randomly every 1 minute. Some photos it uses are not photos that appear anywhere in iPhoto. Today I saw one go by that I want to access and use for other purposes, but it's not in iPhoto! Could the Desktop rotation be accessing photos in some other form?

If your iPhoto library is offline, or you switched between iPhoto libraries, the System preferences will revert to using the system default photos instead.
All System default Desktop pictures are stored in the system library. Perhaps you can find the photos you are looking for in this folder:
/Library/Desktop Pictures/ (in Lion or later, if I remember correctly)
Open the "Library" folder at the top level of your Macintosh HD and open the folder "Desktop Pictures". Be careful, when you browse this folder. Don't change anything.

How to tell which photos in iPhoto are HDR images.

Does anyone know how to tell which photos in iPhoto are HDR images. When I click on the Info button for the image it doesn't indicate if it was an HDR.
Does anyone have any information about this?

You can do a filter on your library with "File Status" is "Missing". The "File Status" query is not available by default, but you can add it by clicking the upper-right button in the filter window.

The exclamation make is an indication that iPhoto has broken the file path to the original photo.
Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

I can't purchase anything even though I redeemed an iTunes card for $15. Apple is asking to verify my credit card info, and also for answers to security codes that are not mine.

Okay so I just got an iPhone 5. My first iPhone. In the past I've had two different iPods, an iPod Touch 3rd Generation, and an iPad 2.
I only have 87 cents in my bank account so I paid cash for a $15 iTunes card so I could get some applications on my new iPhone 5. I realize that iTunes won't let me download updates or buy new applications when my bank account has a low or insufficient balance, so it will ask to verify the code on the back of the card. After entering the code, it says to please enter valid information. The information is valid, but won't be accepted because it has a low balance.
I tried selecting "None" as my payment options to see if that would allow me to make purchases using the $15 balance I just redeemed from the iTunes card. It doesn't seem to help the situation.
I went to contact Apple, but I had to schedule a call (this is the first time I've ever had to contact support for a problem - ever). I also sent in an email hoping I would get a response sooner. I want to play with my phone now, not in a few days when they can finally call me back...
While trying to figure out a solution to this, I ran into a couple of security questions that aren't even mine... They can't be because I don't have an answer for them. These security codes are not mine. I tried putting in an answer and it didn't work - obviously, because the questions don't apply to me. What the heck is going on Apple? I've never had so much trouble with your services before.
I'm not very happy right now.

Look, I understand I still need a card attached to the account. The problem is, it won't accept my card because I only have 87 cents in my bank account right now.
If I had known there would be so much trouble with the iTunes card, I would have just put the cash in my bank account in the morning instead of buying an iTunes card (I didn't expect the banks to be open on Thanksgiving of course).
Apple will only accept cards that have a balance. The balance is so small in my account that it won't accept it as a valid card.
I'm going to have to contact Apple anyway to reset the security questions. That's obvious. Your answers were not exactly helpful. You didn't tell me anything I don't already know, but thanks for trying to be helpful.

No, there are no gurantees. The capabilitty exists to retrive deleted data from an iPhone, but like many things in life it is not 100% successful all the time. Be careful, there are a lot of scam artists out there. They take your money & retrive nothing. This guy is one of the best in the business, but he does not work for people in the private sector.
