Photos in iphoto don't exist anymore

My photos in one event come up, but when I click on them, it comes up with a black screen and a big exclamation mark . How can I get my photos back? Please help!!

The is an indication that the file path or link to the original file has been broken.  Therefore  make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Photos in iPhoto don't show up.

    When I opened iPhoto 11 on my macbook pro 10.6.8, they show up as empty boxes. The application was working fine a week ago and nothing else has changed that I know about. I have all of my photos backed up but it is still pretty disconcerting! Any ideas?

    Is it the thumbnails that are blank or the full sized photo when you try to edit it?  Is there anything in the blank window, like an exclamation mark?

  • Photos in iPhoto don't print on 4x6 paper

    I have tried printing pictures from iPhoto to my Canon MP980 printer and the picutre is printing half of the picture (almost like it is set to print a 4x6 picture on an 8.5x11 piece of paper). I have changed the printer settings numerous times to 4x6 borderless and always double check before printing. I have even dragged it to my desktop and tried printing using preview and got the same result. I have changed the physical settings on my printer to make the default 4x6 but nothing seems to work (I even tried changing from landscape to portrait which only resulted in getting a little more picture printed).

    Give this a try: make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    Click to view full size
    3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    A long shot but if it works will be quicker.

  • Component properties don't exist anymore.

    I have an component called: Event.cfc
    Long story short, I init() it by issuing a command like:
    <cfset eventObject = new 'com.Event'() />
    This component has 2 properties: data (a structure) and name (a string).
    The init() method calls a private method:
    <cfset VARIABLES.setName( VARIABLES.getAttribute( 'event' ) ) />
    The setName() method is implicit, ColdFusion builds it based on the name attribute.  I manually created the getAttribute() method which works with the data property.  In the getAttribute() method, I have a command that reads:
    <cfset LOCAL.retVar = VARIABLES.data[ ARGUMENTS.attributeName ] />
    Well, CF keeps saying that 'data' does not exist in VARIABLES.  But I thought that properties that were defined in a component were put into the VARIABLES scope.  So how can this variable NOT exist when I have it defined at the top of the Event.cfc component as a <cfproperty>?

  • Removing UM role servers that don't exist anymore?

    Have come into a situation where I have a Exchange 2010 SP3 install with 2 node DAG and the management console references two UM role installed servers that technically no longer exists. I am planning on doing a migration to 2013 and just know I will run
    into some issue with these lagging references to these machines. Can someone direct me on how to remove these roles from my Exchange 2010 organization? Again, the servers that the roles were installed on are gone and of course, UM is not being used at all,
    so no worries there.
    Thanks.

    Do the servers still exist in AD and part of the configuration container under the Exchange org?
    If so, the supported way to do this is to run setup with the recoverserver option and install Exchange again on a server. It could be any crummy server or virtual guest.
    Once installed, run setup and gracefully remove the server with Add/Remove Programs.

  • Authorization to comptuter that don't exist anymore

    Hi to all!  I want to retire all the authorization for synchronization since some computers are not available anymore.  How do I do that?
    TY

    Individual computers can only be deauthorised directly on them, but if you have 2 or more computers authorised then you can log into your account and 'deauthorise all' (which you can do once every 12 months) and you can then authorise/reauthorise the computers that you still have and need : authorising and deauthorising.

  • IPod won't update, Says Playlists Don't Exist Anymore So Can't Be Updated

    I think this might be because I used to have too much music for my 20 GB iPod, so there was a playlist my Mac created called "My iPod" and had music selections on it. but then I deleted a couple of albums from my computer so I could have all of the music on my iPod that I wanted, thinking iPod could just update my library onto my iPod as it used to do.
    I would love to update my iPod so any advice is much appreciated. I have a 3rd gen iPod, iBook G4.
    Many Thanks.
    s

    You'll just have to make sure the playlists equal less tahn 20 (18.7) GB. This may mean cutting or two playlists down in size, or cutting one or two playlists.
    Once you do that, go to edit\prefs\iPod, and check the boxes by all of the playlists totalling less than 20 GB.

  • Disable itunes account from computers that don't exist anymore

    Hi,
    In the past I had authorized my laptop and I guess a couple of other sources with the iTunes store account. That laptop died a sad death on my travels so I left it behind and I can't remember which other places I had authorized it on.
    Now I only 1 our of 5 accounts that I can authorize.
    Would like to know how to de-authorize from machines I can't get to.
    Thanks.

    When you reach the limit of 5 then you can deauthorize all, then authorize the active computers.

  • Ipod not syncing music, "cannot sync, playlists don't exist"

    I just downloaded a few CDs to my iTunes and I tried to sync it up, but it said that my playlists don't exist anymore. Yet, they were still all there when I tried to sync it. Any help would be graciously appreciated!
    Dell   Windows XP Pro

    Your iPod preference must have got set to sync specific playlists rather than all and there are no playlists selected. At any rate, if you had been syncing playlists, go to that screen and reselect the playlists then resync.

  • Lost Photos in iPhoto 11

    Whilst I imported new photos and whilst I identified faces (which is also adding photos) I lost a major part of the photos. Some 20'000 miniatures are still avalable but only about 12'000 originals are available or accessible. It is strange that a part of the photos which are originated in 2010 to 2012 are lost or no more accessible. The originals of the older photos are almost completelly available. The file size of the version which counts 20'000 photos is 41 Gigabyte whilst the rebuilt file shows 12'000 photos and has a size of 34 Gigabytes. It seems that in fact more photos are (still) in the file but no more accessible. I already used the program iPhoto Library Manager. As you can see on the picture below, complete events are lost as well (or no more accessible).
    Because of this problem, I am reluctant to continue to manage photos using iPhoto.

    Don't use iPhoto if you don't want to. It's not compulsory. Did you have a question?

  • How to stop iphoto from recovering photos that don't exist?

    I just bought my iMac and transferred all my photos from my backup drive to the iphoto library. In organizing my photos I must have deleted photos or had some corrupted photos in the transfer. Now, every time I open iphoto is says it has recovered 75 or so photos, creates a folder for them, but it's empty. How do I stop it from trying to recovery photos that don't exist? I've searched and have found nothing. The folder generated by iphoto as a recovered folder is empty...

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    Can you give me an idea of why this type of error occurred
    Because of a minor glitch when iPhoto failed to clean up after an import.
    why has this now corrected the error?
    iPhoto should remove that Importing Folder at the end of the importing session. When you launched iPhoto again it saw the folder and (incorrectly) assumed there was an import in progress. Removing the folder means that iPhoto won't make that assumption.
    There is no reason to assume that the problem wil recur.

  • Now that the photo gallery in MobileMe is ending, is there another photo sharing site to which existing iPhoto albums can be transferred as is, with photos in the same order and with titles, and with minimal problems?

    Now that the photo gallery in MobileMe is ending, is there another photo sharing site to which existing iPhoto albums can be transferred as is, with photos in the same order and with titles, and with minimal problems?

    No. If you don't have the album you originally used to create the galleries you can do so by dragging the photos from each gallery to a new, empty album. Then when you find the photo sharing site/option you have decided on  you can easily upload each album to the site.
    Another option is to obtain a hosting service and create iWeb photo pages for each album and future albums similar to this photo page in one of my demo sites: iPhoto Book as an iWeb Slideshow.  Or you can use the iWeb album page and have an album for each  iPhoto album on it like on this demo page: Page-7 .

  • Import photos that don't exist...

    When I import pictures into iPhoto from an external hard drive, there are mystery pictures that are showing up. These are pictures that used to exist on the HD but that I deleted from there.
    I deleted my entire iPhoto library and emptied the trash within iPhoto. I then went to the "show package contents" of my iPhoto library on my computer's HD and deleted everything.
    I tried to re-import the pictures from the external HD to iPhoto, but AGAIN, the mystery pictures are there. I've checked the folder in the HD that they are showing up in. But, they are not there. I've even done a search on my computer, and the files don't exist.
    Please help me figure out why this is happening. I just don't know how to get rid of these pictures. I want them gone...completely!!!
    Thank you!!!

    I then went to the "show package contents" of my iPhoto library on my computer's HD and deleted everything.
    Never make changes to the structure or content of the iPhoto library using the finder
    make sure you have the photos you want safe and drag the baad iPhoto library to the trash and empty it and then depress the option key and launch iPhoto and create anew library - now start using this correctly set up library
