Photos in slideshows are blurry:
Please help me out! Every time I make a slideshow using my photos and play it back, as well as when I put the slideshow on a CD, the photos are blurry!!! My camera is a digital Nikon D40X and I have tried all different kinds of settings, but nothing works! I paid a lot of money for this program, and I have hundreds of beautiful photos that I want to put in slideshows and it is not working!!! This is the main reason I bought photoshop elements 10, and if this doesn't work, I have wasted my money!!!
I get great results especially playing DVD’s of my photos on the TV.
I admit you need the combo PSE/PRE for best quality and best output options.

Photos on sites are blurry on the Macbook Pro Retina Display?
I just got a Macbook Pro Retina Display and while browsing I noticed that logos and photos on sites looked blurry. this is something that really bothers me in the fact that I'm a design and photography student.. i dont know if i should return it and get the old macbook pro or what...
Give the world time. Resolutions above 2560x1600 are only meant for the 30" cinema display I am using right now, and the rest of the world does not have resolution suited for displays above 200ppi below 30". But, you are a photographer, so am I, and the Retina Display is beautiful at high res content including DSLRs and film scans.

Full screen preview and slideshow are blurry / fuzzy
Hi folks-
I just upgraded from CS2 to CS4, in part to improve efficiency of selecting photos - I wanted the zoom and loupe features. Unfortunately a very basic function has been compromised and I'm hoping there's a solution: In both full-screen preview and slideshow the full-screen image is notably blurry. This is a problem for two reasons: 1. I can't judge pictures accurately by just flipping through them in full-screen mode (without zooming to 100% to see if they are well-focused). 2. I can't use Slideshow for, well, slideshows. I've had to resort to keeping another app (like Windows Picture Viewer) open just to be able to quickly flip through and evaluate images full-screen or to show slideshows.
I've tried setting all the options related to image quality (they mostly have to do with caching thumbnails and speeding 100% viewing); I've tried purging the cache files. Nothing helps.
Any ideas? Thanks! It seems to me that there is something wrong with it.
I am trying Bridge CS4 as a viewer for my JPEG files.
I also noticed that the previews were fuzzy. I activated the high-quality previews as well as the option to generate the previews at screen size.
Here's what I noticed. I went to check out a specific photo that is quite sharp with a number of straight lines, angles, details, where it's very easy to detect a lack of sharpness. That photo immediately looked fuzzy to me, which didn't jive with my memory of it. I quickly opened it in other viewers, which displayed it as intended with all the expected sharpness.
So, I went through the settings to see where the problem could be and I immediately thought of checking the box to get software previews instead of hardware, restarted the app, purged the cache, tried again. There my photo had recovered its sharpness, or at least most of it. I thought I found the culprit, but not quite.
I went to browse other photos and found one in particular with a lot of fine detail (hair) and that photo also didn't display all the sharpness that it should have (I was still using software mode). The difference was very slight and to make sure of it it required A/B comparison between Bridge and PS, but there was a difference.
Now I tried the opposite. I went back to hardware rendering mode, restarted, purged the cache, tried again. That second photo looked alright in preview, but the previous photo looked fuzzy again.
So, it doesn't work the same way for each photo...
What's the main difference between the first photo, obviously fuzzy in hardware mode, and the second one, alright in hardware mode but slightly fuzzier in software? The ratio. The first one is a vertical photo, the second one is horizontal (close to square).
I quickly checked other vertical photos and they showed the same behavior...
Now staying in hardware mode, I noticed something else. When I preview the vertical photo and click on it, or double click, it quickly jumps, switching between 2 versions of the photo: the one displayed originally (fuzzy) and another one, with a very slightly different size, which is sharp. During that manipulation it also briefly displays "100%" at the top of the screen. It doesn't stick when you click and immediately switches back, so it looks like a glitch.
Now in software mode, I tried the same, this time you can click once on the photo (which is originally displayed *almost* sharp). When you click once, it displays "100%" but also displays a very slightly smaller version that is clearly fuzzy. Clicking again goes back to the other, less fuzzy one, but doesn't display "100%" this time.
Doing the same test on horizontal photos shows no change that I can see.
So, it seems to me that in the preview mode, Bridge has trouble displaying some photos (vertical ones?) in their actual resolution (100%)
and since there is a slight resizing going on, it brings fuzziness. This doesn't explain the very slight fuzziness seen on horizontal photos in software mode.
Now I'll mention, for those still awake, that I saw no fuzziness on the same vertical photos when I go to Review Mode with *hardware* rendering. Photos there are sharp. Now if I go to the review mode with software rendering enabled, vertical photos are not 100% sharp (akin to the small difference I mentioned earlier while in software mode), while they are sharper in preview.
To sum up, it seems that the only configuration that gives me consistently 100% sharp (=as they were meant to be after post-processing) photos no matter what their orientation, is when I stay in hardware rendering mode and use the Review Mode, instead of preview.
This all really smells like a bug.
For info, I am using Windows 7 and an ATI HD4850 card, and this only about processed JPEG files, not RAW files.
Perhaps the preview is really meant as a quick preview and not a tool to view final photos at 100% accuracy... -
IPhoto 6 photos in slideshow are displayed too big.
I'm using iPhoto 6. The slideshow displays the photos much bigger than in the photo editor (normal size). I want to have them displayed at normal size in slideshow and then adjust them with the size slider. How do I do that? Thanks!
Ok. after first panicking and not reading further on how to fix iphoto, i calmed down and did the reading i should have done first. Seems that holding down the option and command key at iphoto boot-up initiates a rebuild command.
I did a complete rebuild and all the photos are back in order. Not sure why this occurred but I'm happy that it was fixable.

Photos in pdf are blurry?
I'm trying to put together a nice pdf flyer for a client, but the photos that are nice and sharp in InDesign and Photoshop are very blurry in the PDF file. I've not noticed this problem before, and can't find any reason for it. I am exporting the Indesign file as 150 dpi, zip compression. It prints out better than it looks on screen.
Any ideas? The reason the images look different in InDesign and Photoshop is because these are not end file formats.
The images are undergoing a change when you export to PDF. There are being resampled.
There is a workaround. Assume you want 150 PPI images in the final PDF output. Try making the effective PPI in InDesign this same amount – 150 PPI.
It's not so hard to do. Click on the image with the direct selection tool (white arrow) in InDesign and observe the scale.
Use a simple formula – 150 PPI X %. Say the image is scaled to 50%. 150 X 50% = 75 PPI.
Make a copy of the original image. Now open the linked image in Photoshop. Image: Image Size: 75 PPI. Check on "Resample". You are reducing so at the bottom pull-down select "bicubic sharper"
Look at the image closely in Photoshop at actual pixels. How does it look? Now save the image. Avoid JPEG at this point for the image format – it is best to avoid JPEG compression until you get to the final output stage (PDF export from InDesign)
Update the link in InDesign and export a new PDF. In Compression settings you can select JPEG, but make sure the quality is Maximum. Now the image will not be resampled, and a max quality compression should not affect the clarity much at all.
The bottom line is what you see in Photoshop and the PDF should match.
If the PDF file size is too big, you could try 100 PPI and perhaps get away with it, in which case the formula changes (100 x %) and the file gets reduced more in Photoshop (50 PPI in the example).
Just make sure you save copies of the original images, because resampling removes information from the image. -
When I send a newsletter as a pdf the photos are blurry.
When I send my newsletter made with Pages as a pdf the photos all look very blurry. I tried larger size files and same problem. I sent the original template with the Apple default photos and they are blurry as well. I've only looked at them on our two computers, both Macs. I size my photos no larger than 800 pixels on the longest side @72dpi. I have received a pdf newsletter made with Pages from someone else, and the photos look fine.
Are you using the shadow tool in your document ?

I have IPhoto 6.06. I moved pictures from email to my desk top. From the desk top I moved the Jpeg photos to a slide show. The pictures look fine when I place them into IPhoto. But when I play back the slideshow the pictures are blurry. Any suggestions on how to fix?
That's your problem then.
These are thumbnails - really tiny, postage stamp-sized images. When the Mac tries to play them at full screen in the slideshow there is simply not enough data to work with. Ask the sender to give you full sized pics.

When importing photos from aperture photos are blurry
I have been making a video and up to now no problems. Then today i was working on it and when i started adding some more photos from aperture they were fuzzy and blurry.
In aperture they are crisp and clear but the minute i put them in imovie they are blurry and not useable.
I have imported photos from aperture and iphoto both and had no issues so not sure what is going on today.I think I just figured this out.
Go into Aperture preferences and go to "previews" tab. Set "photo preview" to "don't limit" and turn the quality all the way up. Then select all your photos, go to the "photos" menu, hold down the option key and click "generate previews".
It appears that the library sharing is just using the generated previews from Aperture which default to poor quality. You need to turn up the quality and then force a re-render of all your previews. iMovie should pick this up (but won't update your slideshow...).
Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed by those defaults. Wasted hours of my time as I rebuilt the slideshow with better versions of my photos.
Hope that helped. -
Half of the pictures I take with my Lumia 520 are blurry. The problem is exactly like what is described here: http://forums.windowscentral.com/nokia-lumia-920/243124-half-my-photos-blurry.html I can take two pictures in a row, and if I'm lucky, one will be in focus, bu the other one won't. I don't have a focus beam to turn off. This happens in well lit outdoor locations as well as indoors.
What should I do?

Recently backed up iphone and half of the photos are blurry/disappear
I just recently backed up my iphone after receiving a new handset, now half of the photos are blurry and when selected appear for about 2 seconds before disappearing into white. They still appear on the camera roll.
I've restored and backed up twice, tried sending photos to myself, getting them online, and nothing has worked.
Any idea if this can be fixed?
It seems like the files are corrupt but I have no idea why considering there was no warning when I backed up the old phone/transferred the data to this new one.As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
Post back with the result. -
Photos are blurry after upgrade to 9.4.2.,
I recently installed the latest iPhoto upgrade and the quality of my photos is considerably worse. They are blurry or fuzzy around the edges - didn't used to be the case. Is there a way I can fix this?
Thanks!Hi,

I just installed Aperture 3 from a CD. i also imported my photos from my Iphoto library. After importing most of the photos imported are blurry and it tells me the program is "processing" and it never stops. What do I do?

I am using elements & premiere 12 on my PC using windows 7. My problem is that photos in portrait view in slideshow are OK but when I move the slideshow to premiere to edit included video the portrait photos turn side-on and stretch when still in portrait view. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Any comments would be appreciated.

What is the Output option that you are selecting for the transfer of the Elements Organizer 12/12.1 slideshow to Premiere Elements 12/12.1 Editor?
If you are using Edit with Premiere Elements output option, are you using the Premiere Elements command to break apart the Elements Organizer slideshow and then applying rotation to the portrait files? Or, it is this more than just a photo rotation matter?
More on this in the morning.
Please review and consider.
Thank you.

Photos are blurry after import
I just downloaded Aperture. All photos have been imported from iPhoto and looked fine. I closed Aperture, re-opened and now the photos are blurry (the thumbnails are clear). I can't make photo adjustments because it says offline. What am I doing wrong here? Why did it work prior to closing and re-opening the program?
How did you import from iPhoto?
The correct way would be as outlined here:
http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/#chapter=4%26section=10
Also check to see what your Preview size and quality are set to in Aperture Preferences (using Quality '8' and the resolution of your monitor - marked with an asterisk - should work well).
