Photos in Windows Explorer folders marked as empty

I am using Windows 7 64 bit.  My photos are readily available in the appropriate folders when I look at them within Lightroom, Browser or Photoshop.  But if I open Windows Explorer, those same folders are marked as "Empty."  This did not happen until I added Lightroom 3 and imported all of my photos.  They are not marked as hidden either under properties.  What happened?

When importing, LR can add photos from their existing location or it can move the photos somewhere else.  Are you sure you're looking at the same place in both LR and Explorer?
A test would be to right-click on one of the photos in LR and choose Show in Explorer and see where it opens Explorer.

When you click on the Playclaw's Encoder tab, what do you see in the next dialog for Video Compression when the Container field in that dialog is set to .avi?
Since you are seeing some video at all in Premiere Elements (glitchy as it is), I am assuming the video compression is not AVCHD. If that were the case, I would expect you not to be able to import the file at all. By any chance is the video compression Xvid or DivX?
It appears that Video compression could also be "H.264 Intel QuickSync" with a mkv file extension. That seems ruled out since you say your file extension is .avi and not mkv.
So, with the .avi file extension
what is listed as Video Compression and what have you done, if anything, under the Encoder Setup button?
Do you have the same issues with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Also, if you took footage that worked before in Premiere Elements back into today's Premiere Elements, problems or no problems?
At this time, can you import a bunch of jpg photos into a project and work without this type of issue?
    Thanks.

  • I manually deleted my iphone photos through windows explorer now it wont sync new music or backup. any help please?

i manually deleted my iphone photos through windows explorer now it wont sync new music or backup. any help please?

If those photos were part of the camera roll, they were part of the backup as well and you can restore from the latest backup you made on the old computer. After that transfer the photos to the new PC, follow this article: iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
Then sync again to the new one, which will erase the phone again.
You can also try to copy the backup folder from the old computer to the new one and see if the old backups get recognized, check this article to find the location on your PC:
Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes
If the photos were not taken with the phone, your data is gone, photos you sync from iTunes to the phone are not included in the backup.

  • OneDrive Sync with Windows Explorer Folders

In Windows 10 Tech Preview, all of the OneDrive folders show up in Windows Explorer except one - Pictures. The Pictures folder is still showing up online in OneDrive but no longer syncs with Windows Explorer. How can I reset or otherwise get the online OneDrive
Pictures folder to again sync with Windows Explorer.

    Hi Dollie,
I am wondering whether you want to upload multiple documents into SharePoint library once.
If yes, you can try to use Drag and drop feature in SharePoint 2013 to upload multiple documents into SharePoint library.
More information about Drag and drop feature, you can refer to:

  • Can see photos in Windows Explorer, but not through Photos app

I had to get my iPhone 6 (64GB) replaced due to a hardware issue. I backed up my old iPhone, and then restored the backup onto my new iPhone. Everything ported over fine, except for the photos. I lost about 1 month worth of photos. The weird thing is that I can view these photos when I explore my phone through Windows Explorer, yet they are not appearing in the Photos app. I have tried another restore but it does not fix the problem. I'm using iOS 8.1.

    Help menu (alt+H) >Troubleshooting information
Click the show folder button for your profile
    Close Thunderbird
In Windows explorer delete the file Foldertree.json.
    Restart Thunderbird.

    Hi Sudan,
Did this happen to all users PC clients?
You can try creating a new following register key with value 30000000 on your client PC, then restart the WebClients service and check results again, please see the following similar article about opening library with large documents in explorer view.

  • Import Photos w/ Windows iTunes & Folders

Hello, today my plan is to bring our photos into my wifes phone. She is a windows user and I see the option to import by folder exisit.
When I import will the iphone keep the folder structure. Example will photos in a sub folder 2000 remain seperate from a sub folder 2001.
    OR
Will the photos all be thrown into one large folder w/ 1000's of images to ravage through?
I love how iPhoto works with the iphone sorting all your photos by events. I hope the use of subfolders will alllow me the same organziation with a windows sync.
    Any ideas ?

    Cannot answer about iPhoto.
But once the photos are on her computer this is how windows and iTunes work to sync with the iPhone
In iTunes you point to a single folder where you have photos.
If that folder has subfolders it will show those in iTunes under where you choose the base folder and you can check on or off subfolders to sync.
Now iTunes will only read 1 folder deep.
So lets say you get your photos to her windows pc.
You save them to lets just say:
    C:\iPhone Photos\
Now in that folder if you make
    C:\iPhone Photos\Christmas 2007 Party\
    C:\iPhone Photos\Night at Bar\
    C:\iPhone Photos\Family\
    C:\iPhone Photos\Friends\
etc and put photos in each of those subfolders, they will sync over as those various libraries in the Photo App of the phone.
However you cannot say for example
    C:\iPhone Photos\Family\Wife\
See how that has two subfolders?
Note, this assumes you pointed iTunes to sync from C:\iPhone Photos\
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes not syncing after deleting photos via Windows Explorer

    Hi,
I've got an iPhone 4 and recently filled it up with vids and pics on holiday. When i plugged the phone into my PC i copied all of the items from my iPhone via Windows Exploer (very handy i thought). Once i got a copy of everything, i deleted them via Windows Exploer
Unfortunately when i opened iTunes later that day i noticed that even though there were no more photos or videos on the iPhone, iTunes still shows 3.3GB used for photos and 6.2GB used for videos.
How on earth do i tell iTunes do update it's database?

    Welcome to the discussions,
did you try to take another photo and connect the phone again to iTunes?
Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes up again?

  • Best way to get photos from windows explorer into PSE 11

Old story.  Computer crashed.  I re-installed PSE 11. All of the photos are back in My Pictures.  What is the best way to get all of the photos back into PSE 11.  Thanks for your help.  I really appreciate it.

There is a direct option in Organizer which lets you import from iPhoto. This is under Import dropdown menu in left panel.
If you are importing from iPhoto'09, your Tags, Albums Events, captions, star rating would also get imported apart from your media. This works differently for iPhoto'011 where you can get only the media to the Organizer,
Just a couple of things to know:
    1. If in iPhoto preferences, you have chosen to create copies of your photos in iPhoto library and your library hence refers to the media store inside the library package, then on importing from iPhoto, Organizer would create copies of all those media under your pictures folder. That means, it would not corrupt your iPhoto package or modify it in any way.
    2. However, if in iPhoto, you are organizing by using references to original location on your Hard drive i.e. you are not creating copies of media in iPhoto library then on importing from iPhoto to Organizer, the Organizer would also use the same references and would not create copies of the media.
    Hope that helps!

  • Some photos not visible in Windows Explorer

    Dear All,
I have a problem when using an iPhone 5s with iOS 8.1.1 together with Windows 8.
The iPhone connect well, I can browse most of the photos from Windows Explorer, but some newer pictures are simply missing. So I see the majority of photos taken, but some are simply missing. Has anyone already encountered this? I have tried rebooting the phone and the PC, with no result.
    Thanks.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Can't access photos via windows, everything else works iTunes, external software etc.

    Hello,
Since I installed Windows 8.1 I have quite big problem, can't access photos via windows explorer. iTunes and other software can see phone and works completely fine.
There is error 28 in device manager.
Tried uninstalling all services including iTunes itself and got latest iTunes today and still no luck.
Anybody knows solution to this ?
    (iPhone 4S iOS 7.0.4)

Is it just me, who got this issue ?

  • How can I read my disks like windows explorer let's me?

New to iMac and apple .... says my start up disk is full .... how can I view my disk space and programs aka windows explorer style?

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB free for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data.
Use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To really see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now if you haven't already done so. No matter what happens, you should be able to restore your system to the state it was in at the time of that backup.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combinationshift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
After installing ODS in the Applications folder, drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. When you're done with it, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Why does iPhone put photos into random folders like "965YOKDJ" in windows explorer? I want all photos in one folder, not separated in a seemingly random manner.

When I plug my iphone 5s into my windows computer and open it in windows explorer, all the photos are separated into folders like "965YOKDJ" and "823WGTMA". The photos don't seem to be separated in a logical way. I would rather them to all be in one folder or, if they are separated, at least have them separated in a logical way like date or something. I doubt, with it being an Apple product, there would be a setting I can change on the iPhone to change the way it labels photos and folders but if anyone knows a way to make this easier and more logical can you tell me? Also if any Apple employees happen to read this could you perhaps improve the way the iphone labels its photos?

Thats the way the files have been configured since the original iPhone so I don't think they are going to change it anytime soon (since it's been 7 years) but you can certainly put in some feedback on apple.com/feedback
I feel you pain somewhat on this one (at least back when I owned a PC).  The folders are not logical nor the naming scheme.  There is no setting you can change to change this as this is created by the operating system.  I would have to assume it is some sort of code.  I have noticed that when I do not take a picture for a long while, a new folder is formed, but again, I'm not sure of the criteria on how the iOS knows when to make a new folder inside the DCIM, but I have also seen with with some digital cameras that are not phones

I'm in iPhone 5.  I transfer photos to a Windows 7 PC, using the USB cable.  Lately, the photos are appearing in Windows Explorer within monthly folders, with gibberish titles.  The folder names will be 8 random letters and numeric characters.  I tend to let photos build up, so there are about 2 years worth of these monthly folders… Between 20 and 25.  This is a huge hassle… I'm unable to tell what months are in each folder, by the folder name.…  Have to open each folder to see which month is in there.  I want to be able to look at all the photos on the iPhone in one view, as I was able to in the past.  How do I stop this foldering of photos, by months??  Thank you.  BC

I have the same issue. I searched and finally got only one answer is -- Apple suggest customer using iMAC to transfer and backup photos instead of Windows. How great the solution is it!
