Photos in wrong albums

I use windows 7 to create folders in "My Pictures" and use these folders as albums. When I sync my phone through iTunes i tick every folder which syncs them to the phone creating a number of albums.
When I go into photos on the phone all the albums are present with the correct photos in their respective albums.
However after a few days I'll notice that the photos become jumbled up in wrong albums. I have read on this forum that this is due to the photo cache being corrupted in the "My Pictures" folder in windows. I don't think this is the case because the photos sync no problem but become jumbled up of their own accord on the phone.
I have deleted the cache a number of times on separate occasions but this hasn't fixed the issue. Any help would be appreciated. This has happened on my iPhone 6 and also 5, running on all versions including and thereafter ios7.

The first thing to try is a reset of your phone. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the buttons and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

  • My photos are in the wrong albums and some photos are missing all together. How can I make them go back to their correct albums?

iTunes is placing my photos in the wrong albums and some photos are missing all together. How can I make them go to their correct albums?

Nevermind. I just renamed the folder on my mac and synced it again and everything is now in its proper place.

  • Photos randomly showing up in the wrong albums

Why, all of a sudden, when I sync my Ipad 2 to my computer, are some of the photos in my albums randomly going into the wrong albums? They are correct on the computer... but when on the IPad some of the photos from one album will be in the wrong album. How can I correct this?

  • How do I delete a photo from an album?  I don't want to ctrl   delete b/c I don't want to delete it forever.  It just landed in the wrong album (there is a copy in the correct album and the wrong album)

I've got photos organized into projects by year, folder by month and then broken into albums within the months (mom of young kids).  When I was creating albums yesterday, I didn't notice a little box that says "do you want to put selected photos in album?"  So every time I created a new album, it put the photo that I had been working on in that album.  I want that photo (in the album in which it belongs), so I don't want to ctrl+delete.  But I don't want that photo in 10 other albums.  How can I get it out of the albums where I don't want it?

In addition to johngrussel's suggestion the delete key by itself will run the Remove from Album comand.
Note that's the delete key with no modifier.Command-delete will delete the version from the project.

  • Syncing photos to iPad, showing wrong photos in every album

I have several albums in iPhoto that I regularly sync to two iOS devices.  Recently, something appears to have scrambled some the photos across the albums.  What I see on both my iOS devices are the albums from iPhoto I have selected to sync, but each of them (only on the iOS devices) have a handful of photos from other albums scattered throughout each album.
I have verified that the photos are not in those albums in iPhoto, and have taken the following steps to fix the problem:
Unchecked the albums from the iOS device in iTunes and resynced, then checked those albums in iTunes and synced again. The albums were duly removed from the iOS device, then re-added.  Again, the errant photos showed up.
Gone through the iPhoto albums carefully, selected "show hidden photos," and verified those errant photos are not showing in any of the iPhoto albums
Created new iPhoto albums with different album names, carefully moved just the photos I wanted into the new albums, checked only the new albums in iTunes and resynced the iOS devices.  This removed the old albums and added the new albums. This worked for the first sync (the new albums came across correctly), but subsequent syncs scattered the same errant photos back into the iOS device albums (not the new iPhoto albums)
So it appears something in the sync process is picking up some scrambled information and causing old photos to be displayed in the iOS albums which are not in the iPhoto albums.  But I cannot find anyplace to correct or rebuild those databases, or force only the new albums to remain clean.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

    iPhoto v 9.2.1 (628) running on a Mac Mini under OS X Lion v 10.7.2
    iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1 (9A405)
    iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0.1 (9A405)

Found a solution, in a post to another user's question in a different thread:
Download iPhoto Library Manager (http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/) and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
That rebuild did what iPhoto's built-in rebuild apparently couldn't.  After it completed and iPhoto relaunched, I was able to resync to iOS devices and the errant photos were gone.
    Whew!

  • Does iCloud Photo Library syncronise ALBUMS across devices?

It is not clear whether the iCloud Photo Library synchronises ALBUMS across iOS devices. NOT just photos - the Photo Stream does that but I have several dozen albums on one iPad and I want the to be recreated on another iOS devices automatically.
Can anyone actually answer this question? It seems simple enough.
Here is what I want to happen after configuring the system:-
The existing albums on iPad A appear on iPad B automatically.
Changes to an album on either A or B are reflected on the other device.
A new album created on either device appears on the other device.
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks
    ELKAY

Ok. At last I have it. And as far as I can tell my problem can't be solved automatically
As far as I can tel. most existing Albums (which aren't in the iCloud) don't get re-created or synchronised. All albums on your iPad will be deleted (although oddly for me, there are three out of 70 that seem to have been kept).
Turning on iCloud Photo Library turns it on for all devices that have the same Apple ID, and that are  on a compatible version of the iOS. Any new album that is created on any device that is part of the iCloud photo library will be synced to other devices.
My approach has been to disconnect one of my iPads from the network which has all my albums and I will work through one album at a time recreating it and adding the selected photos to the album.
Much remains unclear (such as what happens to edits made on a iPad) and for a company whose story is all about ease of use, this has been a very opaque and nerve-racking experience - strating with the hair-raising message when you turn it on about deleting photos from iTunes. Before getting into the iCloud 'dream' I backed up all my photos from all devices to DropBox and from there to a USD drive.
The Photo-stream is another problem - no proper explanation of anything from the vendor - who knows where the images actually reside, and when they will disappear!
My next move is to look at Picasa as an alternative to this half-baked Apple vision.

  • Photos transposed in albums

I have two photo albums that look & behave normally in iPhoto, but when they sync to the phone several pictures appear in the wrong album. Its always the same pictures that get transposed into the opposite album, so photo a is in album b & the corresponding picture from album b appears in album a!
I have tried deleting these albums from the phone & re-syncing, then adding them again. No change.
Rebuilt the iPhoto database, no change.
I even reinstalled the phone OS but that didn't help either.
Can't think what else to try at this stage. Any suggestions.

Try deleting the iPod Photo Cache from your iPhoto database on your Mac followed by syncing your iPhone with iTunes again. This will force all the photos being removed from your iPhone, re-optimized and re-transferred to your iPhone.

  • Why can't I delete photos from my album?

I created an album today and am trying to sort through it by keyword to check that each photo is labeled correctly. I have been doing this by going to the search box below and choosing one keyword. However, iPhoto will not allow me to delete any photos from this album if I have any keyword selected in that search box. If anything is entered in the search box, and then I select photos and hit "delete", the following photo just gets highlighted, instead of the selected photo being deleted. How can I select all the photos in an album that have a particular keyword, then delete them from the album?
Also, earlier I clicked a box that said "do not confirm before deleting", when I was deleting several photos from this album. Now I'd like that confirmation box to reappear. How do I get that back?
    Thanks for your help!

    Here's an example :
    - Say I have a group of photos flagged. I navigate to the "flagged" smart album. I then click open the "info" pane on the right. I see that a picture of my husband and son is wrongly keyworded "cousins". I click on the picture, then on the keyword "cousins". I hit delete and tab. "cousins" reappears. I try deleting "cousins" and hitting "tab" instead. The deleted keyword reappears again. I delete it about three more times before "cousins" finally disappears for good. Then I add the keywords "brett" and "noah" and click off the picture. Select the photo again, only see the keyword "brett" - no "noah". Yes, I could hit command-K and open the keyword menu, but that's an extra step that I shouldn't have to take, seeing as keywords are available in the info pane. I simply can't figure out what they are wanting me to do in order just to simply delete a keyword using the "info" pane. Is there a particular keystroke that makes a keyword addition/deletion "stick"? I have tried using tab, return, clicking off the keyword box, and no matter, those stinkers just keep undeleting themselves.
Another example of incorrectly adding/subtracting keywords:
    - Again, in the "flagged" smart album, let's say I have clicked on the search box, and chosen to search for all photos with the keyword "san francisco". Now I look in those photos for ones of my husband. I highlight only those particular photos (by holding down 'command') and then using the info pane, type in the keyword "brett". Instead of adding "brett" to the selected photos within the keyword "san francisco", "brett" is added to ALL the photos with the "san fran" keyword.
    - Same scenario, only this time I want to delete a keyword from selected photos in the "san fran" group - but it gets deleted from ALL the "san fran" keyworded photos.
I can get around this problem by adding photos, such as the "san fran" keyworded group, to a regular album, and then adjusting keywords, and the problem doesn't seem to repeat itself. To me this seems like an unnecessary step, but it does work. Anyways, within the flagged album, and I would assume within other smart albums as well (though I haven't tested this theory), I am having trouble with iPhoto adding/subtracting keywords as described above.
Seriously, thank you again for taking the time to help me out here!
P.S. I have deleted the preferences file 3-4 times already, and that doesn't seem to have any effect on these particular issues.

  • Moving or copying a photo from one album to another

I am new to Mac and iphoto. I imported photos from a photo card to my library. I have an Album containing some of the photos imported to my library. When I went back in later to move (or add) some photos from the main library to my album, I could not seem to drag or copy them. Any suggestions regaeding what I might be doing wrong?

First, if you are new to iPhoto, I suggest that you take the time to look at the tutorials for iPhoto and all of the iLife applications that you are going to be using. start here
And, be sure you understand how iPhoto works, what it does and does not do.
Look at this thread and read the posts by Smtr and Terence Devlin for more information look here
Now, you have imported photos into iPhoto, created an album and now you cannot add photos to it?
Have a look at this, from iPhoto Help:
    Creating a standard photo album
You can create standard albums to better organize your photo library, group the photos you want to burn to CD or DVD, or choose pictures for a webpage.
To create a standard photo album:
    Choose File > New Album.
You can also click the Add button, which looks like a plus sign, in the bottom-left corner of the iPhoto window, then choose Album from the pop-up menu.
Type a name for your album and click Create. The album appears in your Source list.
Click Library, then drag photos to your new album.
You can also add a photo to an album directly from another album, a CD or DVD, or another location on your hard disk. When you add a photo to an album from another location on your hard disk, iPhoto automatically imports it into your photo library.
You can also select the photos you want to group first, then create a standard album from them. To do this, Command-click to select all the photos you want to include in the album, then choose File > New Album From Selection and name your album.
You can also create an album by dragging a folder of photos from the Finder into an empty part of iPhoto's Source list. iPhoto creates an album with the folder's name and imports all photos contained in the folder.
Lastly, if you have followed all these instructions and still cannot put a photo into an album, try deleting iPhoto's preference file. It is found in YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iphoto.plist.com. You need to close iPhoto first, locate the plist file and trash it. Don't worry, iPhoto will create another one when you open it again. Open iPhoto and see if it works ok now.
Post back after reviewing/doing all of this, if you are still having problems.

  • Wrong album covers can't be deleted

    Hi
I have stubborn wrong album covers that can't be changed or deleted in my itunes library / covers view. The Info-> Artwork view is ok! They only show up in the covers flow..
    Fixes tried:
delete artwork. replace artwork, add artwork, move song to desktop - delete in itunes - reimport (nope)
The same album cover shows for several different songs/artists, I think it's just one - that was grabbed by itunes "get album covers" (and can you imagine how annoying it is to see "robbie williams escapology" for a bunch of alternative music songs..)
    Ideas?

    Thanks Rob,
I had similar problem, where the Cover Flow artwork was not even close to the artwork. I went into iTunes info, as suggested, and unclicked the box "Part of a Compilation". So, far I've had to go in to each incorrect song separately. It was frustrating me, until that great suggestion. I would track down the CD artwork I wanted; it would show up correctly in the Now Playing window (lower left) in iTunes, but the Cover Flow was way off...the crazy thing was I couldn't find the incorrect artwork in the iTunes artwork window...it would be blank; even when I dragged the correct artwork into that window, it would NOT override it, UNTIL I discovered The Secret! Again, UNCHECK the box labeled Part of a Compilation. I tried grouping 2 or more incorrectly labeled songs, but that didn't seem to work. So far, it looks like you can do it, but it's ONE at a Time. Thanks for the suggestion. If anyone found a quicker way, do tell...I've got thousands of tunes to pour through.

  • How to sort photos in an album by filename?

I have imported 273 photos into an album in Photoshop Elements Organizer.  They originally came from 2 different digital cameras, so the date stamp on them is different.  All the photos were combined and sorted by filename before they were imported.  I want to keep them in this order for creating a DVD.  The Media Browser Arrangement indicates you can sort by date (oldest or newest) or Album.  I have searched the Help topics until my eyes are ready to pop out of my head and have spoken with support (for 45 minutes) until we got disconnected.  Help!!!

This approach has worked in many versions of Photoshop Elements for making an Album based on file name within a single Windows folder - but I can't say for sure about version 8.
Since you say they were combined and sorted by filename, I am guessing that you have all of those photos in a single Windows folder.
So try switching to the Folder Location view of the thumbnails, navigate to that Windows folder within the PSE Organizer left side of the screen foldeer structure and verify that the photos are displaying in name sequence within that folder.
Using the Folder Location view (where the photos are displaying in name sequence), select those photos and add them to a newly created PSE Album from their display under the Folder Location view.
Another consideration -looking ahead to your actions
You mention burning to a DVD - if this will be a slideshow burned to a standard definition video DVD for TV playback, I wonder what resolution those photos are? For example, were they from a 5 megapixel camera or a 12 megapixel camera ?
The dilemma is that the resolution of your photo files could be too high for processing 273 photos to make the slide show. If you will be burning a standard definition video DVD from Premiere Elements, there is a recommendation to have the photo files used for the slide show be a resolution of approximately 1000x750 pixels (or equivalent adjustment if you will do widescreen).   In a way this is the opposite of printing where if the resolution is too low, the print quality will be poor. For slideshows written to video DVD, too high a resolution stresses the process of making the video and can either reduce quality of image in the final video or cause crashes.
If you will be burning to a Bluray DVD or displaying on a computer monitor , then the resolution should be somewhat higher - but a 12 MP camera will still give too large a resolution.  The Process Muliple Files function in the PSE Editor or the File > Export new file in the Organizer provide methods to take your entire folder of photo files and create "downsized" resolution files that are written to a different folder so that your current files are untouched.

  • Wrong Album Art 4 Certin Albums

When going thur the iPod on my iPhone I c a few albums with different album art(both thur coverflow & albums). But this does not happen on my laptop.Does anybody else have this problem? If anybody can help or give me an idea as to why this happens that would be a great help. Thanks a mill!

I was having the same trouble with album artwork being displayed on the wrong albums or not showing up at all even though it is correct and in place in iTunes. What i did to solve it, although a bit of a hassle, was to delete all of my music from my iPhone and sync it all back in groups of 60-90 songs at a time after the 1.1.3 update and now everything looks and works great. Hope this helps...

I am trying to copy 3 photos from an album in iPhoto to my iPhone. I have tried to move them to PhotoStream. I "select" the photos in the Album and then click on PhotoStream in the "Share" menu at the bottom of the screen. Nothing happens.  I have also tried emailing them tyo myself but iPhoto won't send the email. It tells me it doesn't recognize my ID and password. My operating is Lion on an iMac.

Thank you for responding to my question, above, this morning. And thank you for the link about PhotoStream. It was helpful in understanding how Photostream works, but, unfortunately, doesn't really reference my problem since it assumes that the photos were originated on one of my  Apple devices. The photos I want to copy to my iPhone are in an album on iPhoto but I had originally downloaded them from my camera to my iMac then moved them to the album. The confusing thing for me is that they are 3 of a dozen photos takern over a period of 12 years on different digital cameras (two were taken on film and later scanned and eventually moved to the album in iPhoto) and all but three of the photos moved to photostream and are on my iPhone. It is those three, which were all taken on digital cameras and moved to the album, which I can't get to move to Photostream.

  • When creating a book how can I get all the photos from an album to show up in the order they were in the album?

When creating a book in iphoto, how can I get all the photos from the album I want to use to show up in the order that they are in the album?  When I tried to use the option to add my own photos instead of having the program "flow" them, they showed up all mixed up.

iPhoto puts them in the book in chronological order.  So to get your photos from an album into an iPhoto book in the same order you will need to use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date menu option and set them all to the same date with a 1 minute time difference between each.
