Photos iOS8- I need help

As a long time Apple product user (and typical "go to person" for friends and family), the iOS8 Photos changes has completely lost me. I have no idea how to manage things, and something is simply not "clicking" with my pea-saized brain I guess. I have read countless explanations of things, and understand that the Photos-->Collections-->Moments represents a combination of Photos that have been taken with my iPhone, as well as those that have been downloaded from Photostream (in my case, these are Canon Camera-->iPhoto on Mac-->iCloud-->iPhone). Given that, here is what's confusing me:
1. How do I confirm what photos have been uploaded (which I treat as my "permanent archive") to iPhoto, yet are still sitting on my phone? That is, how/when can I confirm that it's safe to delete these from the phone?
2. Often, I will take several photos- for example, let's say I take 20 of a certain event/object on my phone. Once viewed in iPhoto (on iMac), I choose ~3 good ones that I'd like to keep, and delete the others... All 20 will remain on phone (indefinitely?) unless I delete them from iCloud Photostream... is this correct?
3. 3rd Party Apps- notably Instagram- seem to have no ability to access the photos that were originally taken with the other Camera... that is, photos originally taken with my Canon that appear "integrated" with others in my Collections/Moments view on the iPhone do NOT appear under Photos (or any of the other "folders" such as Names in Instagram)
I realize these are rambling & specific questions, but I'm thoroughly frustrated... anybody willing to offer thoughts- or perhaps just describe your current management/workflow- would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks.

If you are noticing a poor resolution in the viewer immediately after importing the photos this will only be temporary until the background processing has finished (I'm assuming you are running iMovie 10). Do you still see poor resolution after sharing?

She will have to log into your iCloud account on her iPhone and select My Photo Stream in the Settings/iCloud/Photos window. That raises problems regarding her own email, calendars, etc. since she will be logged into your iCloud account. She'll be getting your email, messages, etc. if those options are enabled.
Have your wife create shared photo streams to share with only you each month,. Then you can download from the shared streams and import into iPhoto.

Adding Text to a photo...Need help

I'm new to Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. I'm following the instructions for adding text to a photo, but I can't see what I'm typing. I can see the cursur, but nothing else. I can see the text in the Layer, but not on the photo. Please help.

Check the font size in the options bar. If it's really small you won't see it.
Look in your layer's palette and insure your text is in a layer located above the photo in the stack.
You might also check your image's resolution in the Image Size dialog. I've seen a couple of posts where someone changes the resolution to 1 with resample turned off...then can't see the text because it's too small even when they have large numbers inserted in the font size box.

Photo elements 7 need help very new

Is there a way I can combine two photos with one of the photos(person) going to the top corner to look down on the other person? I have tried faces and group shots. However, I can not control where the source picture that I mark goes into the final picture. Any help will be appreciated.

Photo web site needs help

Greetings, I have a website showcasing my photography and I
would like to add a feature for my viewers.
When a visitor enters a photo galery I would like to make the
setup such that when a mouse rolls over the image a pop up appears
describing the image (brief description etc... )
I have shot a number of rock bands over the years and I would
like to provide info (to those and other topics).

Douglas,
There are many different ways of presenting images and like
most developers I prefer to build my own or occasionally use a good
API or component that I can customize.
You can check Project VII for a basic css/html gallery that
is fairly cheap and easy to use without much coding knowledge
necessary. It does not provide a caption though; you would have to
add that.
Another option is to use an embedded Flash component, which
is also very easy to do. The best offerings on the market have
great users guides and active forums where you can pose questions
and look at FAQs.
I recommend SlideShowPro, which has the best users manual and
provides an infinite number of options, including captioning. You
need Flash for this one though.
Googling for 'image galleries' will give you lots of options,
both html/css based and Flash based.
Another option is to buy a good, modern JavaScript coding
book and build your own image gallery. It is not as difficult as it
may seem. Amazon has some great deals on these types of books. I
recommend the Visual Quick Start Guide series, JavaScript and AJAX,
Sixth Edition, or DOM Scripting, which is published by Friends of
Ed. Both have html based examples of building galleries.

Creating photo gallery - newbie needs help!

Ok, so I've never really gotten into action script, which is
why I'm using

I downloaded the zip file at the bottom of the site (because
I'm lazy) and I've managed to put my own images into the thing -
but, the images aren't scaling correctly. I did do the 100%
transform thing, but still I can only see a little piece of the
image when I press preview. I was wondering if there's any
actionscript code that I could put in so that they would scale
correctly inside the mask? And also, is there a sollution if I'm
having both vertical and horizontal pictures?
If you have any other tutorial for photo galleries that you
can recommend - I'd be very greatful!
(Sorry if I'm confusing.. I'm confusing myself too..)

Lost referenced photos in Aperture -- need help with re-associating them

When I first started using Aperture 3, I elected to have my existing iPhoto pics as referenced, rather than managed files.
I recently replaced my hard drive (for a bigger one to hold all those photos...). Now I find that whenever I click on a referenced photo, I get the error message:
Versions with unavailable master files cannot be exported. The selected master image is either offline or not found. Please reconnect it and try again.
I understand I can go do File>Locate Referenced Files.
Given that they haven't been moved from their original location (I assume within the iPhoto library), is there a way to automatically re-associate all of them? I've got about 10,000 photos like this now and can't possibly track them down one by one.
In the dialog window that pops up, the lower box is where you point to the original files. I can select "iphoto library" but don't see any way to do this easily for a lot of photos. Am I missing something?

Oh, man -- THANK YOU! That last bit of info did it for me.
So to summarize for others that may be struggling with this:
[1] Create a smart album to locate all the referenced photos (I used the keyword "iphoto original" which Aperture applied to all my iphoto pics when I starting using Aperture).
[2]Select all photos in the album (cmd-A)
[3] File>Locate Referenced Files
[4] In the upper panel highlight one photo.
[5] Use spotlight to locate where that photo is on your hard drive.
[6] In the lower panel navigate to the location of the photo
[7] Click on the "reconnect all button at the bottom.
Aperture then took about 5 minutes reconnecting all my referenced photos.

Deleting Photos. I NEED HELP!!!!!!

I just recently bought an iPod touch second generation. I downloaded a bunch of photos on to it, using iTunes, but now i would like to delete some of the photos off the iPod. Does any one know how to do that?? Thanks a ton!!!

Hello, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
When Syncing photos via iTunes. iTunes looks for you to tell it where the folder is that contains the photos. Once iTunes is told where this is it will scan the folder for photos and subfolders that contain these folders.
The subfolders act like Photo Albums. So when you check or uncheck a particular folder it will either add or remove that entire folder aka album from the iPod Touch.
If the folder that iTunes is communicating with has no subfolders but is just full of folders you will want to organize the folder or move the photos you do not want out of that folder so next time iPod Touch syncs it updates that change.
Best Setup
-Choose a Main folder on your computer.
-Inside this folder create subfolders, These become Albums.
Examples of Subfolder names
*Wedding
*Christmas Vacation 2009
*Birthday
*New Years
These subfolders will show up in the big box in iTunes for the photos area once you tell ITunes where to find your Main folder.

ITunes updating IOS8.1 - need help

iTunes tells me there are apps on the iPad which are not in my iTunes library!
I don't know which ones or how to get them listed in the library...HELP!

Web photo album error - need help please

I am using the newer version, which is Web Phot Album 2.1. It
used to work fine, i installed the new update for dreamweaver and
now it doesn't work. When i did update dreamweaver, I did what it
said and disabled the exentions. So, to the problem. When I click
on the open files button to choose which pictures i want, it gives
me this error :
' A script in file C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
MX\Configuration\Shared\Common\Scripts\dwscripts.js has been
running for a long time. Do you want to continue?'
so after i click yes, it will build the images using flash,
but it will not create any of the html or any of the html pages.
please let me know if anyone has any other ideas?????

In addition to the missing correlation between the
amsSettings table and at least one of the other tables per Ken's
suggestion (which will give you a Cartesian join if unresolved),
you should either remove the double quotes from the
#SESSION.auth.NewLinesNo# parameter if it is numeric, or use single
quotes if it is a text field ('#SESSION.auth.NewLinesNo#')

Have you forgotten your password? - if so, you have a problem if the email address has gone dead.
If you know your password, go to the iTunes Store, click on Account. log in and you can change the associated email address.
If you don't know your password, and have no email address, you are going to have problems because it's difficult to see how Apple are going to identify you as the authorised owner of the account. Contact iTunes Support: go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. You will see a link to either 'Express Lane', which will guide you eventually to some contact options, or you may see a link to email them.

I tried downloading the iOS8 to my iPod 5th generation and when it finished downloading it shut down completely and it said there was an error and no the iPod is in recovery mode. What can I do to restore it and update it? Please, I need help.

Right after that, the iPod shut down completely and now it's on recovery mode. I plugged it in and it said that I had to restore it and update it so I could use it again but it doesn't let me. What happens when you connect to computer and restore via iTunes?
Without knowing that:
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

To restore your music, connect to your computer's iTunes and try the following settings.
Then hit the Apply button on bottom right. I find it best to select "sync only checked songs and videos" in the Options in Summary.

And I apologize for posting in the wrong area - I saw Apple support so I went here.
I'm almost certain my phone is the problem. I have gone through resetting the network settings a dozen times on my phone, even did it on my dad's. Now my texts are beginning to do the same when I text my fiance.
Resetting the network settings DOES work -- the problem is it will work for a day or two or for only a few hours - then I'll have to do it all over again.

I believe I had leopard and I was having issues getting errors of system not being supported. I contacted Apple and was advised I needed to upgrade to snow leopard. My laptop is from 2009 and I haven't done anything to it till now. The apple rep also stated I should do a fresh install when putting snow leopard on so my laptop would run faster. Apple rep told me to get a external hard drive to put my info on it so the fresh install would reset everything to like it was brand new. I had someone help me with getting everything on the EHD.. doing the right format and such and then once that was done I put in the CD for snow leopard and hit install. Which brings me to now, with everything but my pictures. I have the EHD plugged in... now what? What do I do? I have looked in the EHD in iphoto and it was all standard images *not my pictures but images of a check mark or an arrow again not actual pictures. I don't see a folder pictures and i looked for images and found nothing. I have Applications, Included Free Designs, Library, System, User Guides and Information and Users, those are my options and non of those have a "pictures"
I have iPhoto '09 version 8.1.2 & Mac OS X version 10.6.3
