Photos loading in wrong order, PASE 3.0 from digital camera

I have PASE 3.0 and a FinePix A303 digital camera. I took photos on a three day trip to the Outer Banks. When I loaded them to my computer I took advantage of the renaming feature and had each picture named "Nags Head 04-06" and then a sequential number. All the photos were imported perfectly except for one thing. They are completely our of order. I.E. picturees #1 - 12 were from April 16, the next few were from April 14, then some from April 15, then back to April 14, etc, etc. When I do a straight copy from the camera I get all the photos, named "DSCF0002.JPG" "DSCF0003.JPG" etc and they are in the correct date/time sequence. Does anyone have any idea why PASE 3.0 is shuffling the pics into some random order before uploading?
Thanks. Bob

I suspect that PSA SE just fetches the files off of the camera in the order the camera provides them. But I'm just guessing ...
Anyway, does it really matter what the filenames are? PSA SE will display them in date/time order for you. If you want to fix their names now, just select the images and use File/Rename.

  • Photos not aligning to grid when importing from digital camera,or file

I hope I am in the right place. Just starting today, when I import photos from my digital camera, or files sent in an email, they are not appearing in order, in the grid alignment. There are spaces in between the photos, they are disorderly, and I have to manually put them in alignment. I have selected "align photos to grid" in preferences, and I am at a loss as to why this is happening just now.
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

  • Want to select photos from digital camera to upload

    Hi,
I like keeping a number of pictures on my camera instead of erasing them everytime I transfer them on to my computer. As a result, it takes forever for iPhoto to go through the 700 pictures on my camera to pick up the 2 new ones that I want to put on the computer. (Selecting 'do not import duplicates' does not speed the process.) Is there a way I can do this more quickly? On other computers, you can just click on the camera icon and select the new photos, and upload those. Any tips or suggestions?
    Thanks!

iPhoto doesn't provide enough control of the import process to select individual photos. You can use another application called Image Capture that comes with MacOS X. Image capture will only capture to the hard drive so you'll have to separately import the photos into iPhoto and then delete them (if you want) because iPhoto will copy them into the library.
With your camera or memory card connected, open Image Capture. If iPhoto automatically starts and asks if you want to import, just ignore it. You can quit iPhoto for now or Hide it if you want. Bring Image Capture to the front. There should be a window with the name of your device (camera or memory reader) in the title bar.
The first popup menu is Download To: Note what it says or click it and choose Other... to download to another folder.
Click the "Download Some..." button and you'll see a preview window with thumbnails of what's on your camera/memory card. Select the ones you want. Then click Download. The selected photos will download to the hard drive.
Import the new photos into iPhoto either using iPhoto's Import menu command or drag and drop them from the Finder onto iPhoto's main window. After iPhoto imports them, you can delete the ones from the Finder.
BTW, you can set your Mac to automatically open Image Capture instead of iPhoto when you connect your Camera/memory card. This must be done in Image Capture's Preferences. Open Preferences and in the General tab select which application you want in the first popup menu.
Another way that's shorter if your camera mounts as a disk drive when you connect it is to find the photos you want directly from the camera's memory in the resulting Finder window and drag and drop directly into iPhoto's main window. After they import, eject your camera's disk icon before disconnecting it. You may need to switch the Finder view to column in order to see a thumbnail of each photo unless you know by the file names which ones you want.

  • How to get photos off an iPad 2 that are not from the camera roll?

I have photos from previous iPhones and digital cameras on my iPad 2. I do not have the original laptop I used to put them on the iPad. How can I transfer them from this iPad to a different laptop? I do not want to lose them.

To copy photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app on your iPad such as Simple Transfer which can copy them to a computer via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

  • Importing selected photos from Digital Camera

More than a question, this is a suggestion to the Apple developers of the iPhoto software. There are two options or tools I would really appreciate to have in my iPhoto version 5.0.4
    1. Ability to import selected photos from my digital camera or memory card reader.
    2. Ability to select the albums I want to burn to a CD or DVD.
I hope you can include these basic functions to your well appreciated iPhoto software.
If any Apple Discussions Member agree with this request, please join me asking Apple for these useful tools.
    Best regards,

There may be a more "elegant" solution, but you can do it manually.
    1) Go to the finder. Look for the mounted Camera (the Camera mounts just like your drive, DVD, or Disk Image). You can find this on the Desktop or in list of volumes on the left side of any window. My Camera mounts as "NO NAME".
    2) Double Click the Camera "Volume". Keep Double Clicking (Opening folders) until you get to the picture images.
    3) Select the ones you want to Add/Import to iPhoto.
    4) Drag these on the iPhoto Icon in your Dock or in the iPhoto window, which will perform the import.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't download photos from digital camera after latest software update

    Hi,
since the latest update on the 28.9.08 I have trouble downloading photos from my Canon Eos 400D. I can't use "Digitale Bilder" anymore, nor Adobe Bridge Photo Downloader or iPhoto. I have to use my partners MacBook that doesn't have the update yet. Could it have something to do with the RAW-Compatibility-Update? And does Apple know and do something about it?
Or can I fix this myself?
    I'd appreciate help.

Same here... I have a Powershot Elph340HS and a SD960IS, I've updated Canon ImageBrowser and CamaraWindow and it just says "no camera detected"... so I used a different usb to make sure it wasn't that, I've tried everything, Preview, iPhoto, even iMovie... all of which worked before for importing from my cameras...
    OS X Yosemite (10.10) I'm on a Macbook Pro
    please fix this Apple!!!!

  • Downloading photo directly from digital camera to zen microph

Is it possible to download photos from my digital camera to my zen microphoto without my computer? Or is there another (small) hardward that would work? I'm traveling to asia and would like to store my photos but I'm not taking my computer.

I don't think it's possible to do it with a Creative player, but I've seen a few relati'vely low-cost portable hard disks that transfer directly from a camera or flash card.
Another possibility is just buy one or more large ( GB+) memory cards for your camera.

Or copy the photos from the card to the HD.

  • New Photos App - Can't Import Video from Digital Camera

Hi, everyone.  I just "upgraded" to the new Photos app, but I'm finding that I can no longer import video from my Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5.  With iPhoto, this was never a problem.  All of the old videos I imported from this camera are there after migration, and are playable within the program.  Photos import just fine.  However, I get an error message for the videos (below).  I don't understand why I'm not able to import anything new from that device.
I opened iPhoto to attempt an import and it worked just fine.  Any help is appreciated.  I'm running Yosemite 10.10.3 on an iMac 2010.  Thanks.

    Hi there Jermaster
iMovie 3 does not support the camera you have. iM is a Digital Video (DV) editor. Cameras that record to mini DV tape is what is required. IM 3 does not support USB either. You need Firewire. The camera you have is a flash based Hard Drive camera. To get the video off this camera you'll need iM08 or 09.
But it doesn't appear that the computer you have will support either of these versions.
    See below ...
    iLife ’09 System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
iMovie requires an Intel-based Mac, Power Mac G5 (dual 2.0GHz or faster), or iMac G5 (1.9GHz or faster).
GarageBand Learn to Play requires an Intel-based Mac with a dual-core processor or better.
512MB of RAM; 1GB recommended. High-definition video requires at least 1GB of RAM.
Approximately 4GB of available disk space
    DVD drive required for installation
Mac OS X v10.5.6 or later
    QuickTime 7.5.5 or later (included)
AVCHD video requires a Mac with an Intel Core Duo processor or better. Visit iMovie ’09 Camcorder Support for details on digital video device and format support.
24-bit recording in GarageBand requires a Mac OS X-compatible audio interface with support for 24-bit audio. Please consult the owner’s manual or manufacturer directly for audio device specifications and compatibility.
Some features require Internet access and/or MobileMe; additional fees and terms apply. MobileMe is available to persons age 13 and older. Annual subscription fee and Internet access required. Terms of service apply.
iPhoto print products are available in the U.S., Canada, Japan, and select countries in Europe and Asia Pacific.
GarageBand Artist Lessons are sold separately and are available directly through the GarageBand Lesson Store in select countries.
Burning DVDs requires an Apple SuperDrive or compatible third-party DVD burner.
Flickr service is available only in select countries.

  • Problem importing still photos from digital camera.  Any help please?

I wanted to put together a little Premier Pro CS5 project using 20 stills from my Sony digital camera.  When I go through the various options to import them
into my project (Import, Import through Bridge, etc) I get 20 different file names in the Project panel but instead of 20 different photos (as expected) I have 20 copies of the same photograph.
Wow, that is frustrating.  The closest item in the support logs I could find was this one (see below), but that work around is both over my head and very time consuming.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/730233
I found another discussion along these same lines and it appears that no solution has been found.
I hope I am not asking too much of my $1,000 software program to say, "Please pull in these 20 pics so I can work with them in the timeline."  I just want to hit import and go.
I am using a Win7 computer with a Sony camera taking 3 mega-pixel shots.  Again, all looks to be going well (all 20 filenames in project panel are different) but when those files are opened they are all the same picture.
I've rebooted, opened and close PrPro, tried renaming the pics from the standard dsc123.jpg convention to something else - all to no avail.  I would find it hard to believe that a program this powerful could struggle with such a simple chore - am I doing something incorrect?
    Thank you for any help!
    Stuart

More info about the issue.  This is also a hit-and-miss error, as once you find a way that will appear to work and you say to yourself, "Finally!  I figured it out!"
But once you go to the next photo to pull it in and get on with your project you find that you are pulling in multiple copies of the same picture as the one
    you just pulled in.
This same problem occurs if you attempt to import using the Media Browser, and as an interesting footnote, the Media Browser window has a drop down
list.  When you click each of your different file names, there it is - the same picture.  I've invested 1.5 hours in attempting to find a work-around by importing, renaming, saving, right-clicking, using context menus - everything my 43 years of computer use can muster - but still no luck.
The last time that I created a project similar to this (a mix of video and stills) it worked just fine so that is even more of a head-scratcher for me.
I even went back and re-imported the pics that worked fine into the project that I am struggling with and they came in fine - no duplication.  But vacation pics are the only copies I have and I just need to import these 20 shots and get to work on them.
I would be willing to let someone get my IP address and connect directly like my IT folks at work do so they could see what is going on with this.
Thank you again for any assistance!

I modified an existing slideshow script so that it would like

  • Iphoto and iphone synching Photos in the wrong order

Just downloaded 4.2 and now my iphone shows my photos in ascending order even though it is set on iphoto to descending order. No matter what I do I cannot get the photos to show in descending order....Any ideas?

I've had this problem for a few weeks or so, so I tried getting to the bottom of this. Here's what a senior advisor told me: this is expected behavior. No matter how you order your photos in iPhoto, as of iOS 4.1 (or so) the photo app on the iPhone will only sort according to date, ascending.
I think this is kind of ridiculous, because it's not an expansion of a feature but instead the taking back of a feature. She made it clear that it is not a bug or problem with your device, but instead the brilliant idea the engineers at Cupertino came up with.
You can go to apple.com/feedback to request this feature back. Is it just me or is Apple starting to go in the way of Windows?

  • Working on iPad2, I can create new albums from digital camera imports in Photos; however, when the album is automatically imported into iPhoto, it has lost its custom photo or ding and replaced it with a chronological order. How do I reorder them?

Is there a way to preserve the album order and format when it moves from Photos to iPhoto for easy export sharing or advanced sideshow treatments? Can I create the albums on the iPad in iPhoto and format with custom photo ordering? Or do I have to carry and work in Mac?

This is normal and is how Apple handles photos.
    There are NOT duplicate photos.
Just as a song is in your itunes library and you can access that exact same song from a playlist,  all  photos synced to iphone are in the photo library and those exact same photos (NOT duplicates) can be accessed from the individual albums.
It is working exactly as it should.
