Photos lost in Elements "organizer"?

Cleaning my computer must have deleted some files in my Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 preventing me from opening the program.  It looks like the only thing I can do is reload my software.  Most of the pictures in my Organizer have been moved to "my pictures" folders but some may still be in the organizer that I haven't moved.  If I reload my software will any pictures not backed up or copied in other files be lost, or is there some way to retrieve them?

I had a third party service work on my computer to clean up some files and improve the speed on my computer.  Prior to this service I was able to click on my desktop icon for Elements 7 and activate the program. I mentioned to the third party service that my old Elements 4 was opening everytime I booted up my computer and I wanted that to stop. Which it now has; but now I am unable to open Elements 7. Third party spent over an hour looking at my computer and was unable to restore Elements 7. When I double click the icon I get the hourglass for a few seconds then nothing. I will try your suggestion for launching Organizer later today.  I really appreciate the feedback!
Thank you!

It's important to understand that if you move files or folders from the Organizer menus, the catalog will be updated (there will be no disconnected files).
Moving everything is a drastic change, so that I would personnally do a full backup first.
Simply use the tree  'Folders' view (not the flat 'My folders' view) in the left panel.
Select the upper level folder of your folder tree and drag and drop where you want, even if it is another drive.
Just a note about the visibility of the other drive: you may have to use the option to show all folders (right click or Mac equivalent) on the master folder you want to attach the library to.
Another solution would be to backup and restore on your main drive in a custom folder.
Use Backup, Restore to move catalog | Organizer | Elements 6 or later

  • Photoshop Elements Organizer  10

    Good day,
I need some help to start my project right.
In the last 10 years, I have accumulated about 3000 family photos by scanning old printed and accumulating new digital photos.
The problem is that they are spread into 2 desktops and 2 laptops, and I also have pictures still into 3 digitals cameras.
Now before I organize those photos with Photoshop Element Organizer, I am in search of the best way to merge all those pictures into my new laptop which has C and D drive.
I was planning to put my programs on C: and my data on D: to latter ease my backup task.
I want to build the right structure right now and not to regret anything done wrong latter.
I also want to play safe as I am afraid of loosing any of those precious souvenirs; Some are form the early 1900.
    1) Should I proceed with a transfer using a USB key drive for my scanned photos and for those received by email? They are already in the form of yyyy-mm-dd
    2) Should I use the software from my first CANON 3 MEG camera, and the software of my 2nd CANON 5 MEG, and then the 3rd software of my SAMSUNG 12 MEG to transfer the photo to my new folder?
    3) Should I put them all in the same folder?
    4) Am I right that any duplication will be found by the ORGANIZER and this will be solved easily?
    5) My guess is that they will all end up being in date order like yyyy-mm-dd. Would that be the best way?
    6) Would you have any more recommendations to help me doing the best thing?
In the videos on line, they don’t talk much about that special case of organizing a big data bank into one single new computer
All your help would be much appreciated
    Thank’s
    Gilles

You would get more help in the Photoshop Elements forums ( http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop_elements ).
This is the forum for Photoshop, and very few people here have even seen the Elements Organizer.

  • Elements organizer: Geo Tags - why not in the meta-data ?

    Hi again,
Some of my Photos have geotags (i.e. GPS-Information) in the meta data. Elements Organizer finds it - all right.
Now when i put a Geotag to a photo (without GPS-Information in the meta data) with elements organizer it also works, but there is still no Information in the GPS meta data.
    Why is that?
Where is the GPS Information stored, when not in the metadata?
    Thanks to all!

    elenah
I do use the Elements Organizer, but not to great extent.
So, please review the following and then let me know if you have been there and found that already.
If I setup a photo GeoTag in the Elements Organizer 13/13.1, after that I see
    a. The description of the GeoTag itself in Tags/Place Tags
    b. When I select the GeoTagged image in the Elements Organizer browser, the Image Tags information
for that photo is shown at the bottom of the Information/Image Tags column at the right.
    c. The GeoTab information appears as a caption under the zoomed in photo in the Elements Organizer Browser.
If the GeoTab image is saved as in Photoshop Elements 12/13.1 and imported back into the Elements Organizer, the GeoTagging is recognized.
I do not see GeoTab information elsewhere in the Elements Organizer nor in the Photoshop Elements Editor
(File Info or other) at that point.
Please remind me if you have Photoshop Elements 13/13.1 as well as the Premiere Elements 13/13.1. I need to explore
the possibility of adding metadata into the program by pointing to Photoshop Elements Editor/File Menu/File Info. If that is at
all possible, it looks like you are facing creating xmp templates. Have never been there and done that.
In the Elements Organizer itself, I suspect what we do not see is being supplied by the Elements Organizer catalog behind
the scenes. But, please check out the Elements Organizer 13 Help PDF Chapter 6 Adding Metadata to see if there is anything
there that you do not already know.

For the best possible answer and not assumptions and any unlikely scenarios from me, you are probably best served putting this GeoMapping question before the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum people if you do not get some Adobe help on this.

  • Finding photos stored in Elements

I have used PHotoshop elements for a couple of years, latest version I use is 10, and had hundreds of photos stored in Elements Organizer.  Recently I had to have my computer stripped of OS and then everthing restored.  I backed up everything on my computer as did my tech guy, but now I can't locate any of my stored photos.  What am I missing (besides my photos)?

Your photos were never stored in Photoshop Elements. They were always stored on your hard disk(s) somewhere. You need to locate where the photos are on one of your hard disk(s).

  • How can I import photos from iPhoto '09 to Elements Organizer 10 while keeping the tags attached?

I have spent a ridiculously long time tagging photos in my iPhotos but I would now like to transfer all my photos to Elements Organizer and preserve all the work I had done.
From Adobe's help website (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/elementsorganizer/using/WS73c05ee9864270ea-417df45c129593bfa05 -8000.html) it says I can import the tags along with the photos but does not explain how:
"Elements Organizer 10 supports importing photos, along with their associated captions, tags, and ratings, from iPhoto. You also have the option to import information such as events and albums to maintain the organization of your library"
When I follow the steps outlined on the website my photos are imported but there are no tags attached to them. I am particularly interested in keeping my facial tags but I suppose it would be useful to know how to keep other keyword tags and ratings as well.
There was a previous question put out on the forums similar to this but it was unresolved and the person decided to just leave everything in iPhoto. I really would prefer to transfer all my photos to Elements Organizer. I don't like the way iPhoto organizes photos but I had to deal with it for several years before I bought Elements Photoshop with built-in Organizer.
    Please Please help!
    Many thanks
    D.M.

You don't import one library to another.  Just copy the library from the iBook to the Pictures folder on shout new MacBook Pro. If you have another library already on the MBP rename it so you don't overwrite it with the old library.
Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and select the newly copied library and let iPhoto convert it to the new version.
Do you have photos in the library on the new MacBook Pro that you want to combine with the older library?

  • How to export photos from Elements Organizer on Mac?

I saw someone asked the same question and it seemed not to be possible with the Mac version. Surely this can't be possible as this must be one of the single most important functions in an Archving system.

    rugfoot wrote:
The problem is I can't move them to a new folder. If I could I wouldn't have the export problem. I just dragging and dropping but it doesn't work. I have made a selection (15) of photos in Elements Organizer but I can't identify which ones they are (from 300) in the Mac Finder app (= Windows Explorer).
Sorry, I can't test that on a Mac, but I thought that 'Windows only' features would be stated on the Adobe pdf help file, and moving file is not mentionned as Windows only, whereas 'export' is clearly stated as Windows only.

  • The stack sub menu does not enable for stacked photos in elements organizer 13 on windows 8.1

The stack sub menu does not enable for stacked photos in elements organizer 13 on windows 8.1.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
I stacked some photos, now I cannot expand them or unstack them in the organizer.
This is for both auto and manual stacking.

Please press Ctrl+D to move to the older grid and now the stack option should be enabled.
    Thanks,

  • Best way to collect photos from family members for use in Photoshop Elements Organizer 13?

I am a long time Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements user. My biggest problem in producing my annual Christmas video has been collecting photos and videos from remote family members. Most are exclusively taking photos and videos on their smartphones (but I'll take wheat I can get).
What toolset or service will offer my family members the easiest way for them to securely share those assets with me so that I can ingest them into Element Organizer 13?
I've been told that Adobe now has apps for smartphones to aid in this process, but I have yet to track that down.
I've recommended my family members use dropbox or other comparable services, but it seems to perplex them. More often than not, I wind up receiving them as attachment via email or not at all. I'd LOVE to improve their ease of use and am will to pay to deliver an easy and pleasant experience for them.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.

What about Google Drive? And just share the folder with the family members.

I downloaded and installed Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements.  I then launched Photoshop Elements Organizer and imported approx. 28,000 photos (including some videos).  A window opened indicating that many of the photos had tags, and asking if I wanted to add the tags.  I said yes, and the process began.  When it reached 60% a window opened indicating that "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working", with the only option being to "Close program."
I've since tried to open organizer several times, but it goes immediately to "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working".  I was able to open Editor, and tried opening Organizer from Editor, but encountered the same problem.
FYI, I have an open case (#0214505556), but have not received the help I need.

This issue is with respect to Elements 13.

  • Is Elements Organizer 9 robust (powerful) enough to organize 10,000 photos without crashing?

I'm scanning literally thousands of photos from my 40 years as a photographer. I'm currently using Elements Organizer 9 to keep them organized using keytags and dates. I want to know if I can trust this basket to hold ALL my "eggs". I'm afraid I may get a "corrupt catalog" error message and all my work will be null and void. I would love to switch to using Adobe Bridge but it's out of my price range right now as I'm home on disabnility with a torn shoulder.
Does anyone know of Elements Organizer can handle 10,000 plus photos without crashing?

I have been using PSE6, PSE10, PSE11 and PSE12 with catalogs containing 50 000 items. There has been posts about users with more than 100 000 items. The organizer offers a good backup scheme.

A 'corrupt' catalog is something very rare, but you'll see many posts about catalogs containing 'corrupt' media files (mainly videos). The risk is minimal if you regularly use the built-in tools to repair and optimize the catalog and do regular backups.
One of the main concerns about losing one's organization is about keywords, captions, tags and notes. The organizer lets you save those data to the files themselves, so that they are accessible to any other editing software.
A PSE9 catalog can be read and converted to more recent Elements versions, as well as by Lightroom. I would advise upgrading to PSE12 when you can, but PSE9 is still a valid option.

  • No connections of photo files loaded into Organizer - Elements 13 - PC

I downloaded Elements 13.  I already had Elements 9.  Download went smoothly but there must be an issue with the download.  All files I import into Organizer are fuzzy and very low resolution. If I click on a photo to Edit, it says that I have to reconnect.  I didn't have it in there in the first place.  I have been playing with this for a week so I uninstalled and re-installed and still same issue. Can anyone help?? Thanks.

    Hi,
It sound like your files have gone missing.
