Photos menu item goes missing

I have two user accounts defined on my Mac Pro. My primary user has iTunes with my music encoded as AAC, and has my iPhoto library. I have a second Music Server user with my music encoded as Apple Lossless. Both users run all the time so I can sync my iPod with the AAC files while playing the Lossless files through my audio system.
I set up the Apple TV to sync to the primary account, including all my photos. I set it to connect to the Music Server account, where there are no photos, to stream Lossless. Both connections work fine, but when I switch the Apple TV connection BACK from the Music Server account to the primary account, the Photos menu entry has gone missing. Cycling the power causes it to come back.
Anyone seen this? Any solutions?
Thanks.
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

This is the answer I got in another thread about the same thing...
It worked for me
Many users of this device seem to be getting confused by the Sources menu. In that menu are listed the content sources available, starting with Apple tv (tv) at the top, followed by your sync host (indicated by double chain link icon), then all the stream hosts... When you go to the Sources menu and select tv, that enables the playing of content already sync'd. In this resulting set of content menus at the top level, you will see the Photos pick is there, assuming iTunes is set to sync photos.
Now, go to the Sources menu and select your sync host (the one with the double chain link icon). Look at the top content menu now, and you will not see the Photo pick present. That's because streaming photos is not currently supported, and hence you'll only see it in the tv menu set.

  • Apple Menu items are missing. How do I restore them?

My Apple Menu is missing some items. Not sure of all that may be missing, but the ones that I use that are missing include "System Preferences," "Restart," and "Shutdown."
System Preferences is still installed and available from the Applications folder, and I can restart or shutdown the system in other ways, but I'd sure like to get those items back on the menu.
I'm not what caused this, but I did some system maintenance including an iDefrag full defragmentation and some tweaking in Onyx. Can't say I know at which stage this happened, but the system seems to be behaving normally but for the missing items.
System is a Macbook Pro 17-inch, Mid 1009, running OS X Mavericks 10.9.2.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

As it turned out, restarting the system didn't help, but shutting down and starting again did. Not sure if there's a difference between a restart and a shutdown+start, but I know there is a slight difference between a warm boot and a cold boot on PC, so maybe there is.
Anyway, the problem solved without major surgery. This specific option of removing the System Preferences menu item isn't available in Onyx, though removing the Restart and Shutdown options are (which I did not select). So, I guess I'll chock this up to an anomaly.
    Thanks for the help guys.

  • HT4623 Ipad2 - General setting: Menu item 'Softwareupdate' missing

I want to update my IPAD2 to iOS6, but for some reason I don't have the menu item Softwareupdate under General. Is there anyone who knows how to get this setting?

Depends on the version of iOs you currently have on the iPad.
Go to Settings->General->About and look for the section named "Version"
    That's your version number.
If you have version 5.x  Then you can go back out to Settings->General, and tap on Software Update option.
If tyour iOS version is lower than 5. Then you'll need to connect your iPad to a computer running iTunes, and use that to update iOS  to version 6.0.1 It should automatically prompt for the update.

Hello, I am new to Spry. I created a navigation bar with

  • 30EA2 problem: Menu items not available

After having used Data Modeler 30EA2 successfully for a while, suddenly several menu items are missing.
E.g. in my File menu "Open" is not shown (in fact only "Save", "Save as", "Compare With" and "Exit" is shown). This clearly makes the modeler unusable, as I cannot open my models!
The problem continues even after I download the product (Product Version: 3.0.0.653) from OTN, unzip in a new location and use that.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Peter.
please try removing (or renaming the folder called .oraclesqldeveloperdatamodeler in C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR_WINDOWS_USER>)
This is a folder where the datamodeler IDE caches are stored.
    Hope that helps,

  • IMac 20" 10.4.11 blurry photos, blurry icons, missing menu items, etc

iMac 20" running 10.4.11, Was running perfectly, took Skype out of startup items, from then on photos are blurry, icons blurry, dock items blurry, minimize/maximize buttons in open windows are blurry, and items are missing from drop down menus....any ideas what could have happened? There are currently no items in startup items, what should be in there?

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • Missing preferences, tool bars, menu items after receiving CS3 file while I have CS2

    I have Indesign CS2. I rec'd a CS3 file not knowing it was CS3. A message appeared as follows:
Cannot Open. Please upgrade your plugins to the latest versions, or upgrade to the latest edition of Indesign.
I went into HELP, Configure plugins. Chose "all" and "required" plugins. I then clicked ok and it said "All plugins available when you restart application" and it still wouldn't open. Then I was sent an exchange version of the same file and it still wouldn't open. I received this message:
Cannot open. InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing or the file may be open in another application.
After this I wasn't able to get my CS2 screen back the way it was before. There's no introduction when I open the program, my tool bars aren't present, and the menu items aren't as extensive as they were before.
It was then suggested I reinstall Cs2. I logged in under the administrator. CS2 was different than the way I had it before but the tool bars were present. I then logged in under my name and there are still problems;no tool bars, missing menu items, no intro, etc.
    I then tried rebuilding my preferences using these instructions;
The fastest way to do this for InDesign CS2 (and any CS2 program) is to quit the program, then hold down Command-Option-Shift-Control immediately after starting it up again, and keep those keys held down. (On Windows, hold down Control-Alt-Shift.)
If you mashed on those keys quickly enough, youll get an alert when the splash screen appears offering to Delete InDesign Preferences File?. Click Yes, but dont release the modifier keys while you do so, because youre going to get a second alert to which you should also click Yes.
Now you can release the keys and InDesign will complete the boot-up process with fresh, clean Preferences.
Nothing happened so my program is still missing preferences, menu items and toolbars. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Operating System Windows XP Professional
    Dell Precision 360

First, you need to realize that resetting preferences will put them back to ground zero, not the way they were the last time you were happy.
You can try the key combination again and see if you are any faster (we're talking near instantaneous) or you can open your user profile, show hidden files and folders and navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Adobe\InDesign\Version 4.0 and rename the two files InDesign Defaults and InDesign SavedData.
In your case, a better first option, I think, would be to try System Restore which you'll find in System Tools under the Programs > Accessories heading on the start menu. Go back to the first restore point before you tried to open the file, if you can.
In any case, for you to open a CS3 .inx file you will need to be fully patched the the last CS2 update, and you should expect to see some text reflow issues, as well as missing any CS3 features that the author used which aren't supported in CS2.

  • Missing menu items in CS4 - PDF Presentation

I downloaded the 30 day trial of CS4 and I can't make a PDF presentation (which I do daily in CS2). There should be a menu item in Photoshop under automate and from Bridge, under tools, Photoshop, PDF presentation. I read through the documentation for CS4 and they should be there... why aren't they? I need this tool any ideas why it's missing in CS4 for me?

In another thread, this relevant exchange between myself, Anne and Rene occurred on this very subject. Had I known, I would have posted here instead. Ms. Guo, if you are indeed listening, consider putting this one back...because, specifically with open Photoshop files, it can't be pulled off in Bridge. Jbeezer points out another major problem:
"There is no control over compression and it yields a much larger PDF as in over 5x for my previous example."
    Here is the earlier exchange:
    Anne said:
"And it isn't called "Automate->PDF Presentation" in CS4 either.
It has been replaced by a multi-page PDF that you create from Bridge CS4's Output Panel and then edit in Acrobat Pro if you need to finesse transitions etc.."
    I said:
I did find that in my hunt. It doesn't work anywhere near as quickly or as well as it did in PS CS3. Not even close. It can't deal with open PS documents (at least I couldn't find a way) and it can't be set to completely remove the "jpg'ing". I tried for a few hours to get it to output a decent PDF within Bridge and just gave up. Moving over to Acrobat Pro to "fix" pretty much negates the whole Bridge step. It's actually faster to completely skip Bridge and just make a PDF directly in Acrobat Pro.
There was no reason to remove this function at all. It wasn't broken and it didn't need fixing. Yet another reason to keep PS CS3 resident...particularly because the PS CS3 parameters actually does this trick (PDF from open PS images) faster and with better quality than Acrobat Pro does with saved/converted PDF files ...in one easy step. When you get right down to it, the function Automate>PDF Presentation wasn't moved over to Bridge. It was removed.
    Rene said:
"For more info, see "Where did Extract & others features go?"
    http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2008/10/where_did_extra.html"
    I said:
That's funny. There is no other information on Automate>PDF presentation in Nack's blog:
    * Picture Package, Contact Sheet, Web Photo Gallery, and PDF Presentation have been replaced by the new Output module in Bridge CS4. Of these the first three are in the optional download package, while PDF Presentation no longer works in CS4.
    * In CS4 we made some hard calls and retired a number of features. Some of these can be added back into CS4 (see Mac & Windows downloads) while others are gone for good."
    "Gone for good" applies here.

  • Missing "TV Shows" menu items lists

I have a first gen apple TV, software is up to date.
Today I look at the "TV Shows" menu, and everything except "My TV shows" is missing from the menu selection.
I've looked around the support communities and I've seen a few other threads, but no resolutions.  Thus I'm starting a new thread on the topic.
I've rebooted AppleTV, have confirmed my location settings (I'm in Canada), so-on-and-so-forth.
Does anyone know what's going on?  With the exception of these missing menu items my AppleTV is fully functional.

This problem has just resolved itself. You can read more about it in the
Apple TV 1 not showing TV show items thread. However, you need to reboot your Apple TV for the menu to reappear. Just press and hold "Menu" plus "-" on the remote until it disappears from your TV screem amd then follow the instructions when it starts up again.

  • CK-200 Audio qualiy, missing menu items and softwa...

Hi all.  First post and all that jazz.
Wonder if anyone can assist with several issues I'm having with a CK-200.  to list them:
Audio quality.  This is perhaps the worst problem.  I can hear the person I'm talking to quite clearly, (ISO version on decent car speakers) but the background noise reported by the other person is really really bad.  Whilst my car isn't the quietest in the world (LandRover Discovery) it's certainly not loud, but everyone has commented that they can barely hear me when I'm at motorway speeds.  Does the external microphone help remove background noise much?  I certainly hope so, as at the moment I have to be at 40mph or below to be heard properly.  I've tried calling someone else driving my car, and sure enough it sounds like the microphone is in the engine bay, and the person I'm talking to is in the boot!
Second:  When I first got the kit, it appeared to understand that one of my phones (E90) was not compatible with downloading the address book, and so it didn't try, but if I made a few calls the kit remembered the numbers called.  After "updating" the software a few months ago, it now constantly tries to download the address book, fails, and if I try to do a "last number redial" it tells me that it can't download the address book.
Lastly... (and has been mentioned in another thread) There appears to be a number of menu items missing, most noticeably the option to read a received text message.  The icon appears to tell me I have a new text, but there's absolutely nothing I can do about it!
Shame, as it's a nice car kit, and the two-phone-connectivity is excellent, but I really must address these issues!
Any and all assistance gratefully received!
    David.
PS. as a sidenote, where can I actually buy a CA-134 for this kit from?  I know it's the cable I need, but I can't actually find one for sale anywhere!

Glad you got it improved, I guess perhaps a 'mechanical' sound transmission problem. Not sure about inside the CK-200 unit - but inside Nokia external mic's the mike element is usually mounted in a block of foam rubber to absorb vibrations carrying through. I am certainly getting a little higher volume level on my 'answerphone' trails with an external
Little confused by the download issues. The CK-200 can download your contacts as one aspect but also your call history (calls made/missed/received etc) as another.
The contacts (address book)  download certainly seems to stop dead when you set auto to off on all version and handsets I have tried. On recent software versions Nokia introduced the automatic download of call history, as far as I know this cannot be disabled - I would quite like to be able to as I don't really need it and it delays the initial connection before you can make a call. But anyway it sounds like its this thats giving you trouble. It may be down to some setting in your phone you can make to deny it permission to cooperate with the CK-200. Anyway see how it goes with V.3 first of course. (can't be long now )

  • Missing Javascript menu items on Acrobat 9 Standard

I've been trying to get into some more advanced JS coding within Acrobat for forms, and I'm running into a bit of a roadblock in accessing the javascript tools.  Specifically, I keep seeing references to Javascript menu items under the Advanced menu, but my Acrobat doesn't seem to have these at all.  I also can't open the JS Debugger/console with Ctrl-J, but it will open if i put in a syntactically incorrect javascript statement and try to execute it (from a form field, etc).
Anyone have any ideas how to correct this?  I found references online to this being an issue if Acrobat Reader is also installed on the same machine (it was), so i removed that, but the problem persists.  I can enter javascript into an individual field, but i can't add a document-level script at all.
    thanks

Sweet! I got it working.   My function reads in the contents of a range (30+) of combo boxes and text boxes, does a little editing and then sorts, and then puts them back in the same range of boxes but with the blanks filtered out and in alpha order.  I  used a nested array and it worked pretty well.
The only thing i'm still stymied on is that it works perfectly for everything except if the textbox field is a number with a '+' in front of it (like +1 or +2200).  It strips the + sign out, I'm assuming that's because of javascript special characters, but the escape/unescape function did not fix it.  Doesn't matter if there are plus signs in the rest of the field, only at the beginning (and minus signs don't cause the same issue).  I'm going to try manually escaping with quotes before reading into the array I think, but if you have seen this sort of thing before please let me know.

  • Xfce4 missing icons for menu items

My xfce4 seems to have blank icons for some of the menu items and I can't figure out why. I installed the entire xfce4 and xfce4-goodies groups.

maggie: are you talking about icons in the Applications menu applet? If yes, are the icons missing for applications which do not provide icons¹? If yes, then you have the answer: there is no icon displayed because there is no icon to display for the entry.
AFAIR, the pre-4.12 Applications menu applet displayed some ugly stock icon as a placeholder, but it seems that this behaviour is no longer present in the latest release. If you truly want icons for the entries, you may set them by editing corresponding .desktop entries. The best way is placing your overrides in ~/.local/share/applications as this will not pollute pacman-managed /usr/share/applications directory.
¹ See the corresponding .desktop entry in /usr/share/applications/ or ~/.local/share/applications
