Photos missing after importing to ipod

I just restored my ipod photo back to factory setting and re-imported all my music and photos. After completion I got a message to say not all photos have been successfully imported since some are missing in iphoto. I know they are all there because I have previously imported all of them. The albums which were imported are only up to a year old, older photos are missing. Please let me know what can be done to include the older albums.

Soft reset phone. Are they in photos app? Or on vcloud?

  • Photos missing after importing the library into Photos

    Hi,
I am sure others had a similar problem, so pls direct to the right thread/post:
After Mountain Lion -> Yosemites upgrade I had to import the iPhoto library into Photos.
As the process ended I only found very few old albums/events but 90% of the library was missing. How do i get the whole library to Photos?
    I had iPhoto 8.1.2 before
    Thanks in advance!

    Large Library Crashes Photos
My photo library includes photos taken using Nikon CoolPix 995, Nikon D7000, iPhone 4, iPhone 6, iPad, iPad 2, iPad Mini 3, screenshots, downloaded graphics, and some movies taken with various devices.
    I'm using a 27" iMac (Late 2012, 3.4GHz Intel Core i7, 32GB 1600 MHz DDR3 CL9 RAM, nVidia GeForce GTX 680MX 2048MB video card) with 3TB Fusion drive.
My Aperture library contains around 11,000 images with several dozen projects, smart projects, folders, etc.

  • Photos missing after import.

    Hi-
    Hope someone can help.
I was importing about 200 photos from my iPhone (4 with iOS 5.0.1) when I got a call, which I ignored.  iPhoto (7.1.5)  was just "finishing" when the call came in and this seemed to send it into the spinning wheel and then iPhoto crashed.
Photos are now not on the phone nor on the computer (iMAC w/ OS 10.6.8).
Any thoughts or help?  I don't use iCloud or photostream yet so no help there.
Next time I sync I'm going to put it in airplane mode.
    Thanks for any help.
    David

Go back to your main Library.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • How do you "eject" a camera or such device from the photos app after import?

How do you "eject" a camera or such device from the photos app after import?

Thanks for your answer. It certainly seemed that since there was no longer a control-click option in Photos for a mounted device that a hot dismount or eject would be OK. Should there be any caveats to the user who selected a Finder option not to show Hard disks, External discs or CDs DVDs and iPods--or is this still uniformly true across all devices (old iPads, Firewire, etc.)?
This is only true for devices that are not accessible in the Finder. For iPhones, iPads, newer iPods. If a device shows up in Disk Utility as a mounted disk, you have to eject it properly.
But the newer iOS devices are not mounted as a disk, that a user can write to or eject.
For example, I just connected my iPhone 5s. It shows in Photos and iTunes in the sidebar, but Disk Utility does not show it as a mounted device, so there is no way to eject it.

  • All clips missing after import from camcorder!

All clips are missing after import from camcorder - Canon ZR20.  For some tapes all clips are there, for others there are none.  All the files are there in the finder, but I don't know how to have them show up in Final Cut Pro X.
    Any suggestions?

Ok - this is frustrating.  I have been importing my old miniDV tapes again into FCPX as I wasn't able to transfer all of these projects from iMovie - don't get me started...  After importing about 7 of the tapes the first 3 came in fine, but the last 4 didn't have any clips as I said in my original posting.  Now after restarting FCPX a couple of times all of a sudden the clips are all coming in!  Strange!  Guess I'm OK now.

  • Pics missing after import

I was importing pictures from my camera to iPhoto, the import finished....the pics were erased from my camera. Then iPhoto quit unexpectedly. When I go back into iPhoto my pictures that were just imported were no where to be found. Sad sad story.....can anyone think of a way to find them.....are they placed in any other location???
    Thanks for the help

    Katie:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Open the iPhoto Library package and see if there's a folder in there titled "Import" or "Importing". If there is look in side and see if there are any files in it. If so move to the desktop, launch iPhoto and import the contents of that photo. If those are your missing file you're done.
If not you may have to get a 3rd party file recovery application like MediaRECOVER to recover the deleted files from the camera's memory card. If your camera does not mount on the desktop you'll need to get a card reader. IMO using a card reader and not having iPhoto delete after import is the best way to go. I always let the camera reformat the memory card after uploading.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Categories Column Missing After Import

After importing some photos from my camera my iPhoto window is left in a strange state which I cannot seem to get out of even if I restart iPhoto or reboot the machine. It doesn't show the categories on the left at all and it shows a big blank grey window on the right with nothing to click on. The bottom shows all of the usual controls (Split, Edit, Rotate, Hide, Flag, Book, Calendar, Card, Web Gallery, Email, Print, Order Prints, and iWeb and below them add, info, fullscreen, play, search, and the thumbnail scaler). I was at one point able to fix this somehow by going into Time Machine and doing something (I know not what) and it went back to normal when I returned but I can't seem to replicate the effect now. Help!

    Brian
Move your cursor to the extreme left of the iPhoto Window until it becomes a '+' then click and drag right.
If that doesn't work, try trash the com.apple.iphoto.plist file from the home / library / preferences folder

  • Imported photos gone after import

    Hey guys,
I have a HUGE problem. The day before yesterday I imported around 300 pictures from my canon cam into iPhoto. Since my memory card is pretty small I checked "delete pictures after import". I looked at the pictures in my iphoto library, and they were properly imported. Yesterday when I tried to import new photos I noticed that the photos I imported the day before that were gone. All images lost BUT the events are in the library, empty of course.
I double saved the new pictures and imported them - they also were properly imported, but when I quit iPhoto and reopened it, they were gone aswell.
Does anyone know how I can get my pictures back? Already tried photorec on the SD-card - it restored the wrong pictures.
Thank you so much, all help is highly appreciated.

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Photos corrupted after importing using iPhoto

I recently imported 50 images from my iPhone 5 using iPhoto 9.4.3. After imported and selected "Remove imported photos", all my remaining photos & videos became unrecognized format (see image below). They look like that in iPhoto too. When I tried to import them, it says "Unrecognizable Files". I viewed my phone in iTunes and see that both Photos and Videos still take up half the storage. It says 17 photos 10.3 GB when rollovers. Strange..
PLEASE HELP! I do not have any back up on iCloud and iTunes

Should update to iPhoto 9.5.1 on your Mac

  • DI custom SQLs were missing after importing a good ATL file

The customer had a strange issue recently - lots of custom SQL statements were missing when they imported a good ATL file into a brand new repository. This hasn't happened before. And they are sure that the DI repository versions are the same between the one it was exported and imported. I did some troubleshooting for them and found out:
    1) The custom SQLs are intact when I opened the ATL file in a text editor. And the ATL file can be imported without any issue into other repositories.
    2) Most custom SQLs are missing but not all. Some are imported OK.
    3) When I opened the SQL tranform for those with missing SQLs, the textbox area for the SQL statement was blank. This caused errors in validating the job.
    4) Sometimes the issue was resolved when the developer re-initialized the repository and imported the ATL again. But sometimes this strategy doesn't work - the SQL statements are still missing after the repository has been re-initialized a couple of times.
The DI version is 11.5.3 on HPUX with repository version 11.5.1.5. The repository database is either Oracle 9i or 10g.
    Thanks,
    Larry

The issue was resolved. The error occurred because of the database version mismatching. When the job was exported from the dev repository, datastores were excluded. The datastores in dev point to Oracle 9i sources. However, when datastores were recreated in test, some of them point to Oracle 10g sources (same database structure, just version upgrade). Therefore, when the job was exported from the test, although the datastores were still excluded, the version number "10g" were embeded in the SQL transform. This caused the SQL text to be excluded when importing ATL into the dev repository.
The action taken is to 1) delete datastores with version 10g; 2) create one with version 9i; 3) then exported the job into a new ATL. The new ATL can be imported into the dev repository without any issue.
    Thanks,
    Larry

  • Photos missing after directory import

    Hello,
I've experienced a problem during photo imports where the photo will be in the Originals directory, but not show up anywhere in the album.
For example, after an import this is in the iPhoto Library/Originals/2006/Philadelphia directory
    -rw-r--r-- 1 camilama camilama 316874 Jun 12 15:09 Philadelphia 03.12.06 00023.JPG
    -rw-r--r-- 1 camilama camilama 384930 Jun 12 15:09 Philadelphia 03.12.06 00025.JPG
    -rw-r--r-- 1 camilama camilama 404110 Jun 12 15:09 Philadelphia 03.12.06 00026.JPG
    -rwxrwxrwx 1 camilama camilama 233291 May 11 2006 Philadelphia pig 1.jpg
    -rwxrwxrwx 1 camilama camilama 271247 May 11 2006 Philadelphia pig.jpg
The files "Philadelpia pig.jpg", and "Philadelphia pig.jpg" do not show up while browsing the library. For some reason their file permissions are different and the timestamp didn't change. If I try to reimport those photos I get an error "Unreadable files" "The following files could not be imported"
This type of thing has also happened before. I have a directory of pictures in the iPhoto Library directory, but they are nowhere to be found while browing the library.
    Any help is appreciated..
    Thanks

This sounds like a corrupted database file. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library Folder allowing it to overwrite the damaged file. If not, then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same film rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual rolls to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Can you get photos back after recovering your ipod touch?

My iPod touch has been freezing on the apple logo screen and not opening up. I was told I'm going to have to recover or restore to factory settings in order for it to work again meaning, all my data will be gone. The problem is our computer died shortly after getting my Touch so i haven't synched with iTunes before. Does this mean it's a lost cause for my photos and videos? I could care less about the apps and even the music is ok to do without but the photos of my family are more important. Please help!

Also if you had photos treat, but if you didn't use iCloud then I don't think you will be able to get them back

  • ALL Photos missing after Time Machine restore  (help)

So, I accidently formated the wrong drive while in Windows, (big oops) which gave me the opportunity to take Time Machine for a test drive.
I put the DVD in, and was able to restore from the TIme Machine drive. Very impressed! Everything came back just as I had left it except - whats this? The default Leopard wallpaper instead of a picture of my son? Huh strange, I thought. Until I noticed I had no photos in iPhoto.
There seems to be reminents of photos in the iphoto database - the size is 1.3gb instead of the 7gb it used to be. But 0 photos in iPhoto 08.
I went into iPhoto and choose File/Browse Backups. I selected Nov 8th, which was the last day of my backup and showed all 7000+ photos, and clicked "Restore All". This brought up something odd - a 2nd iPhoto icon in the dock, which showed a progress bar for the restore. Once the restore was completed, I still had a 2nd iPhoto icon the the bar, which was iPhoto running - but no photos in iphoto! I exited the 2nd iphoto, which disappeared, and launched my normal Iphoto icon. Still no photos! (That just seems odd that it would launch iPhoto with a 2nd icon)
So, I moved my iphoto database, and launch iPhoto in order to create a fresh database - thinking maybe that was the issue. I then did File/Restore again, and went through the whole processes again, including the odd 2nd icon. Still, no photos! And another 1.3gb iphoto database!
Is it normal for a Time Machine restore to not include your photos? Surely you are not supposed to restore them separately from within Iphoto?
What do I do now? At this point, everything went very well - except no photos! Which is awful and not at all expected! 7000+ family photos! At least, if I ask iPhoto/Time Machine to restore 'all photos' you would think it would restore 'all photos' - not show a progress bar, and then show me no photos!
p.s. I just tooked at the iPhoto Library. The 1.3gb is in /Data/ which contains folders 2000-2007, my Events, and thumbnails of all the photos - but no actual photos (the 'Originals' folder is missing).
I then went back in time, and found the 8gb iPhoto Library database. I supposed I could copy it over manually via Time Machine, and not iPhoto's Restore/TM - but - i'm so far off track of how this should have went I don't know what to think!
p.s.s. So I did just that - copied the 8gb iPhoto Library manually from TM, and pasted it in place. I help down option, and launch iPhoto, selecting the 8gb library - and BOOM... no photos!
    Something is #$%# up here.

This is what it says in the help file:
Reverting to a previous Mac OS X version
If you’ve used Time Machine to back up your computer, you can easily revert to a previous version of Mac OS X if you’re experiencing trouble after installing an update.
IMPORTANT: Reverting to the previous version of Mac OS X will erase any additions or changes you’ve made to the files on your computer after installing the new version of Mac OS X. To save new or revised files, copy them onto a different disk or back them up using Time Machine before you follow these instructions. Use Time Machine only if you’re reverting to a previous version of Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), since Time Machine is not available with Mac OS X 10.4 or earlier.
To revert to a previous version of Mac OS X:
Insert the disc you used to install the new version of Mac OS X, and double-click the Install Mac OS X icon.
In the Installer, choose Utilities > Restore System From Backup.
In the Restore Your System dialog, click Continue.
Select your Time Machine backup volume.
Select the Time Machine backup you want to restore. To restore your computer to the state it was in before you installed a new version of Mac OS X, choose the most recent backup.
    Follow the onscreen instructions.
If you backed up any individual files as described under the Important message above, you can restore them now. If you backed them up using Time Machine, recover them using the Time Machine application. (You’ll find the Time Machine application in the Dock or in the Applications folder.)
    Hope this helps

  • Where are my photos put after importing from my camera?

I just started using iPhoto 08 (7.01). When I used to import photos they went into the Pictures Folder then the iPhoto Library folder sorted by year. I have imported pictures for the first time using this latest version and I can't find where the photos go if I want to copy them?

    Diane
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
To upload to MySpace or any site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser. Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves. If you're willing to risk database corruption, you can restore the older functionality simply by right clicking on the iPhoto Library and choosing 'Show Package Contents'. Then simply make an alias to the folders you require and put that alias on the desktop or where ever you want it. Be aware though, that this is a hack and not supported by Apple.
