Photos missing after using harddrive!

So I wanted to open my harddrive photos in iphoto but i think I pushed a wrong button because after I did that all the photos that were only in my computer and not on my harddrive are missing. I can't find them! So now every time I open iPhoto there are only the photos från my harddrive there!! where are the rest of them?
Please someone help me!!

Your post is not at all clear so one can only guess. Do you need to switch to a different iPhoto library?  If so depress and hold the option key while you launch iPhoto. Use the resulting select library window to pick the library you want
If that is not it post back clearly

My iPhone 4 finished to safe a photos in Photo folder after using camera. To renew all system - not help. What can I do to correct?

    Catherine,
I'm not sure why, but I've also noticed that clips on the viewer don't show up. You can work on them, however, by moving the clip to the timeline. Once its there and selected, it will show up in the Ken Burns window when you click on photo.
    Hope that helps.

  • Photos missing after importing to ipod

I just restored my ipod photo back to factory setting and re-imported all my music and photos. After completion I got a message to say not all photos have been successfully imported since some are missing in iphoto. I know they are all there because I have previously imported all of them. The albums which were imported are only up to a year old, older photos are missing. Please let me know what can be done to include the older albums.

Soft reset phone. Are they in photos app? Or on vcloud?

  • ALL Photos missing after Time Machine restore  (help)

So, I accidently formated the wrong drive while in Windows, (big oops) which gave me the opportunity to take Time Machine for a test drive.
I put the DVD in, and was able to restore from the TIme Machine drive. Very impressed! Everything came back just as I had left it except - whats this? The default Leopard wallpaper instead of a picture of my son? Huh strange, I thought. Until I noticed I had no photos in iPhoto.
There seems to be reminents of photos in the iphoto database - the size is 1.3gb instead of the 7gb it used to be. But 0 photos in iPhoto 08.
I went into iPhoto and choose File/Browse Backups. I selected Nov 8th, which was the last day of my backup and showed all 7000+ photos, and clicked "Restore All". This brought up something odd - a 2nd iPhoto icon in the dock, which showed a progress bar for the restore. Once the restore was completed, I still had a 2nd iPhoto icon the the bar, which was iPhoto running - but no photos in iphoto! I exited the 2nd iphoto, which disappeared, and launched my normal Iphoto icon. Still no photos! (That just seems odd that it would launch iPhoto with a 2nd icon)
So, I moved my iphoto database, and launch iPhoto in order to create a fresh database - thinking maybe that was the issue. I then did File/Restore again, and went through the whole processes again, including the odd 2nd icon. Still, no photos! And another 1.3gb iphoto database!
Is it normal for a Time Machine restore to not include your photos? Surely you are not supposed to restore them separately from within Iphoto?
What do I do now? At this point, everything went very well - except no photos! Which is awful and not at all expected! 7000+ family photos! At least, if I ask iPhoto/Time Machine to restore 'all photos' you would think it would restore 'all photos' - not show a progress bar, and then show me no photos!
p.s. I just tooked at the iPhoto Library. The 1.3gb is in /Data/ which contains folders 2000-2007, my Events, and thumbnails of all the photos - but no actual photos (the 'Originals' folder is missing).
I then went back in time, and found the 8gb iPhoto Library database. I supposed I could copy it over manually via Time Machine, and not iPhoto's Restore/TM - but - i'm so far off track of how this should have went I don't know what to think!
p.s.s. So I did just that - copied the 8gb iPhoto Library manually from TM, and pasted it in place. I help down option, and launch iPhoto, selecting the 8gb library - and BOOM... no photos!
    Something is #$%# up here.

This is what it says in the help file:
Reverting to a previous Mac OS X version
If you’ve used Time Machine to back up your computer, you can easily revert to a previous version of Mac OS X if you’re experiencing trouble after installing an update.
IMPORTANT: Reverting to the previous version of Mac OS X will erase any additions or changes you’ve made to the files on your computer after installing the new version of Mac OS X. To save new or revised files, copy them onto a different disk or back them up using Time Machine before you follow these instructions. Use Time Machine only if you’re reverting to a previous version of Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), since Time Machine is not available with Mac OS X 10.4 or earlier.
To revert to a previous version of Mac OS X:
Insert the disc you used to install the new version of Mac OS X, and double-click the Install Mac OS X icon.
In the Installer, choose Utilities > Restore System From Backup.
In the Restore Your System dialog, click Continue.
Select your Time Machine backup volume.
Select the Time Machine backup you want to restore. To restore your computer to the state it was in before you installed a new version of Mac OS X, choose the most recent backup.
    Follow the onscreen instructions.
If you backed up any individual files as described under the Important message above, you can restore them now. If you backed them up using Time Machine, recover them using the Time Machine application. (You’ll find the Time Machine application in the Dock or in the Applications folder.)
    Hope this helps

  • Photos missing after importing the library into Photos

    Hi,
I am sure others had a similar problem, so pls direct to the right thread/post:
After Mountain Lion -> Yosemites upgrade I had to import the iPhoto library into Photos.
As the process ended I only found very few old albums/events but 90% of the library was missing. How do i get the whole library to Photos?
    I had iPhoto 8.1.2 before
    Thanks in advance!

My photo library includes photos taken using Nikon CoolPix 995, Nikon D7000, iPhone 4, iPhone 6, iPad, iPad 2, iPad Mini 3, screenshots, downloaded graphics, and some movies taken with various devices.
    I'm using a 27" iMac (Late 2012, 3.4GHz Intel Core i7, 32GB 1600 MHz DDR3 CL9 RAM, nVidia GeForce GTX 680MX 2048MB video card) with 3TB Fusion drive.

  • Key photo missing after iPhoto froze

My iphoto froze while I was organizing photos.  I had to force quit.  When I opened it back up about 10 key photos were missing and I couldn't get them to show up.

    You could try this:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
and select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2:  Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

  • Photos missing after thumbnail cache rebuild

I upgraded to ilife 08' and rebuilt my thumbnail cache in iphoto after it prompted me to do so. my photos are still on my hard drive in the "originals" folder and I can see the titles and outlines of where the albums should be when navigating through iphoto but I can't look at the pictures. When I scroll through iphoto I can see the pictures for a split second and then they're gone. I tried re-importing my originals folder but it says it already exists. help please!!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
I can see the titles and outlines of where the albums should be when navigating through iphoto but I can't look at the pictures.
What happens if you double click where a thumbnail should be? Does the correct pic open? IF so, then you have a thumbnail problem. If not, then I'm afraid you have a corrupted database.
If it's the thumbnail problem, try rebuilding again. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
If it's a corrupted database Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file. If not, then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Photos missing after manually sorting them.

After moving photos from camera roll to iTunes image-sync folder, some images will not resync to my phone. I do not use iPhoto. Pictures was taken by the iPhone 4. Help?
I have a folder on my computer where from iTunes Autosync images. I use this to be able to sort my images into folders/albums without using iPhoto. However after doing this not all of the photos taken by the iPhone 4 will resync to the iPhone and I cannot figgure out why.

When you copied them to the flash drive you took them out of iPhoto and into the Finder. The Finder doesn't understand manual sorting.
Here's one (of several) way(s) to do what you want:
Make an Album of the photos, then drag the pics into your preferred order.
Then Photos Menu: Batch Change -> Set Title to Text "John's Birthday", for instance, and tick the box to append a number to each Photo. Now your photos are titled 'John's Birthday 001, John's Birthday 002 ... etc'
Then File -> Export and in the Export dialogue set the Filename to "Use Title"
Sort on Filename in the FInder and you end up with a folder full of images in the same order as the Album in iPhoto.

  • Photos missing after upload to icloud photos

    Good Morning,
We recently activated the icloud photo beta app to move all of the ipad photos into icloud as we were having issues accessing a few photos from the photostream and though it may be a good starting point.
Since the upload a selection of photos are missing from the ipad photostream and are not visible in the icloud photos web page.
We have tried a restore of the ipad to the same day we set the upload going, however this has restored without the same batch of photos.
Can anyone suggest a reason for this happening, has this happened before?
We are using an ipad 2 on 8.1.2
ANy assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Soft reset phone. Are they in photos app? Or on vcloud?

  • Synched photos erased after using Camera Connector

I recently purchased a camera connector for my 60Gb iPod Video. I had already synched a bunch of photos through iTunes, and when I used my camera connector, all those synched photos were erased. It has done this several times now. Can I not have both synched photos via iTunes and upload photos through the Camera Connector? If I can, how can I keep my synched photos from being erased? Any help is appreciated.

I'm trying to avoid the restore option as my iTunes doesn't have the music that is on my iPod (ie I update my ipod manually and delete the songs on iTunes after transferring the songs to iPod - frees up space on my computer).
Is there any way of making a back up of the songs on iPod or transferring them from iPod to iTunes?

  • Has anyone experienced text going missing after using Change All in the Find Font dialogue box?

I manage an artwork production studio and two members of staff have separately reported that when using the Change All command to substitute fonts in InDesign's Find Font dialogue box, some text disappears from their documents. All affected text is originally set in the same font, and most of the conversion is fine but a few instances of text are actually removed (not reflowed). In the latest reported case, only four or five instances of text were 'deleted' across two pages of a 20pp document.
I've found a link that refers to the same issue but it's unresolved (http://www.listsearch.com/InDesign/Thread/index.lasso?20041#last)
I haven't been able to replicate this behaviour but would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced it and if so, under what circumstances it can occur, and what work-rounds or fixes are available.
Applies to InDesign CS3 and CS4, have not tested with CS5 because we haven't upgraded yet.

Joel, I am having the same problem you described. I have read of similar posts on PrintPlanet.com. Someone there thought it was a different text engine or something in CS4 which may be causing the problem.
I don't know what causes this but I believe it can be traced to a previously created file in CS3 is saved as a CS4 document.
The fonts associated with this problem for me are always Gill Sans, Palatino and some form of Helvetica. There may be others but these are the ones we notice the most.
Today I worked on an InDesign CS4 file. When I opened it I was given a missing font warning. I went to Find Font and it was different typefaces of Gill Sans that was missing. When I changed the missing font to Gill Sans Regular entire lines of text disappeared. I closed the document without saving it and reopened it. I did the same thing in replacing fonts. This time no text disappeared. Not reflowed; not white; not hidden—gone.
This is what I have been seeing for the past few months. The disappearing text is random and cannot be duplicated, though fonts may disappear in some other place. You never know where text will just disappear.
The workaround I have found is to export your file to an INX document and reopen it in CS3. You have to replace all missing text before saving it as INX, though. To my knowledge CS3 has never had this happen.
The workaround, though it works for me, is annoying. I'd like to know what to do to resolve this issue. What's the use in having CS4 if you can't trust it completely.
I use a Mac running 10.6.3. I also have running Suitcase Fusion 2.

  • IPhoto Photos missing after Repair, Rebuild

Hi folks - I hope you can help.
The problem: my iPhoto loads and shows all my thumbnails perfectly. Click on an album though and their are no images. The library is still full sized and I have tried both a repair, and then rebuild to sort the problem. Bizzarely my Aperture installation still works fine as far as I can tell - the photos are still there.
I am loathed to back-up from a previous point as it takes an age, and would be at the expense of some recent shots that would require a manual save out and re-import. It also wouldn't diagnose the problem which could re-emerge.
The background: I have an enormous 175Gb library which I am trying to thin carefully. iPhoto crashes have plagued me from the start with this 2011 Macbook Pro. I updated the ram to 8Gb on the advice of a 'genuis' to make it work better. It hasn't helped much.
About two months ago I bought aperture in the hope that it would help my editing and thinning process. I have not used it much but I have edited and rated a few events in it.
    I am using:
    iPhoto 9.4.3
    OSX 10.7.5

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Photos missing after import.

    Hi-
    Hope someone can help.
I was importing about 200 photos from my iPhone (4 with iOS 5.0.1) when I got a call, which I ignored.  iPhoto (7.1.5)  was just "finishing" when the call came in and this seemed to send it into the spinning wheel and then iPhoto crashed.
Photos are now not on the phone nor on the computer (iMAC w/ OS 10.6.8).
Any thoughts or help?  I don't use iCloud or photostream yet so no help there.
Next time I sync I'm going to put it in airplane mode.
    Thanks for any help.
    David

Go back to your main Library.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Desktop is missing after using migration assistant

I just finished installing snow leopard after wiping my hard drive. I logged onto the guest account to use migration assistant and keep the same username. After doing so, I logged back onto my account. I can no longer drag anything onto the desktop. I tried copying the desktop folder from the deleted users folder that migration assistant created, but it doesn't affect the desktop whatsoever. How can I get my desktop back?

Wipe and install Snow Leopard again and this time use the Setup Assistant instead.
Use a Firewire cable (800 to 400 adapter if required) and hold T boot the old Mac into Firewire Target Disk Mode and then connect the cable when the Mac reboots after you just fresh installed Snow Leopard.
This way only one account gets transferred like you intended.
