Photos missing when syncing from iPhoto to iPod touch 3G

OK, I'm trying to upload photos from iPhoto to my G3 iPod Touch. They're in a specific album within a folder. There are 84 pictures in the album, but only 32 are uploading. Anyone know why?

Nope, not by a long shot.
Actually, I figured it out... I separated the photos by which uploaded & which didn't... and discovered the photos need to have their extension showing! Whew! It took a lot of work to fix the mistake, but I've got it all sorted out now.

  • Only some of my photo's are syncing from iPhoto to my iPad, iPhone and Apple TV.

Only some of my photo's are syncing from iPhoto to my iPad, iPhone and Apple TV.
It may be my own fault due to learning Aperture and playing around with the locations of the Master Files.
The thing I don't understand is that when in iPhoto all thumbnails of all photo's are able to be enlarged / edited etc. When a thumbnail is clicked on there is no gray triangle with an exclamation mark indicating that the link to the original photo can't be found. I would have thought this was ok for syncing to take place.
When trying to sync through iTunes to my iPad for example (after some photo's have been synced) a window comes up saying "Some of your photos, including the photo “_MG_3820.jpg”, were not copied to the iPad “Mark Harlen’s iPad” because they cannot be displayed on your iPad".
I thought this may be due to lack of memory space but my Apple TV (which has the same issue but not the same warning window) has over over 100 free GB's so that can't be it.
When I did a test and re imported one photo that wasn't being synced to my other devices, that photo consequently was then synced so maybe it has something to do with the path through iPhoto to the original files.
Is there any way I can re establish these links with out having to create an entire new iPhoto library from the originals (I have a lot of albums and have done a lot of editing etc and don't and want to have to do it all again).
I look forward to you help and advice
    Mark

Thanks for the advice but it didn't seem to work
I've decided to try ditching iPhoto and orgainising, syncing my photo's to all devices from Aperture
I have so far imported over 1200 photo's (relocating and renaming the master files as well) and find that when syncing through iTunes only 209 photo's are listed. The Projects/Albums are there but some indicate that there are 0 photo's in them when I know other wise (at least according to whats happing in Aperture)
I'm starting to suspect it may be a computer problem
    Any thoughts?
    Regards
    Mark
PS: Just after posting this I restarted my computer, went into iTunes and my Apple TV started to sync. It was now syncing 854 photo's not 209 as before.

  • How can i get artwork to sync from itunes to ipod touch- for my home movies

How can i get artwork to sync from itunes to ipod touch for my home movies ?
The artwork is there in itunes ,but when i sync to my ipod ,the artwork dose not go with ,all that is there is a gray house box !

Read the PDF user manual for a possible solution:  iPod Manuals, search through Apple's Knowledge Base for support Articles and/or iPod Nano Support

  • Some videos fail to sync from iTunes to iPod Touch

There are 38 movies (or videos) in my iTunes and total is 3.45GB but when I sync this with my iPod Touch only 22 of these are sync into my iPod. iPod capacity should not be an issue: i still got 4.18GB free space and the entire movie/video library is only 3.45GB (after 22 of the 38 videos have been stored).
When I go to "DEVICES" under iTunes and go to my iPod and then check out the "Movies" tab, I can see the FULL list of the 38 movies but some of them are in black text and others in grey text. Those in grey text are not sync onto my iPod Touch. What should I do? Please don't tell me to reset the iPod Touch!

The videos that show in grey text are not in the proper format to play on your iPod. Select the video in your music or movie library and use the iTunes "Advanced" menu to "Create an iPod or iPhone version".
    Then try your sync again.
The iPod Touch will only accept video formatted as described here: http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/specs.html

  • Signature photo broken when emailing from iPhoto

I have a photo above my name in my default signature in Mail. When I click the Email" button in iPhoto to send photos via email, my signature photo shows up as and icon that reads "Untitled (82kb)".
The photo in my signature works FINE if I create a new email, but not in the new emails that iPhoto creates with the pictures attached.
I added the photo to the signature field in Mail's preferences by dragging and dropping the .JPG file from the Finder. That, and copying and pasting seems to be the only way to put a photo in a signature. Neither method works when initiating an email from iPhoto.
    Mail 2.1
    iphoto 5.0.4
    Any ideas, anyone?
    Thanks!

    Marius,
set the mailer in the iPhoto Preferences to "Mail.app", not to "iPhoto"
    iPhoto > Preferences > General
              Email Photos using: Mail
This way you will be able to mail your photos directly from iPhoto, but you cannot use the iPhoto cards; use the Mail Photo stationary instead, once the mail panel opens.
For some reason mailing using iPhoto as Mailer works for me only, if I am mailing from my iCloud accoun,t and if Mail is set to use the iCloud account by default.

  • How to get photos from iPhoto onto iPod Touch

I have thousands of photos recently added to iPhoto, but can't figure out how to get them on to our new iPod touch. Help!!

Connect your iPod to iTunes, and select it under "Devices" in the left sidebar. Then the main window will show your sync options.
If you haven't synced your iPod before, look at this video: http://www.apple.com/itunes/tutorials/#video-syncipod

  • How to correctly sync from Itunes after Ipod touch

    Hi,
I just got a new Iphone 3G, after having used an Ipod touch. I synced the Iphone from Itunes, and all my existing apps and settings have synced OK, but all the apps are empty and none of my photos, videos etc. have synced - even though I went through every tab on the device in Itunes and pressed Sync. What do I need to do to get my Iphone just like my Touch?
    Thanks,
    Richard

Disable auto sync when an ipod/iphone is connected under preferences in itunes. Make sure you have at least one contact in the contacts list on your phone. Connect your touch, do not sync, rather right click the touch in the device pane and select "backup". Once complete, un-mount your touch, connect your phone, DO NOT SYNC, right click the phone in the device pane & select "reset warnings". Once done, right click again and select "restore from backup". Select the backup you just made. Once the restore is complete, this must be followed by a sync to put your itunes content back on your phone. You should get a popup regarding your contacts, to merge or replace, select merge. All you should have to add to your phone are wifi & email passwords, as these are not copied over for security reasons. Your phone should now look exactly like your touch.

  • Syncing prob:icons for apps won't sync from Mac to ipod touch G1

I have a 1st Generation iPod touch, 32 GB and the latest version of iTunes on my MacBook Pro. I have tried several times to sync my laptop to my iPod...all goes well except it won't sync the icon pictures of my apps to my ipod...except 2 or 3. Please tell me what setting is wrong or what I can do to get the icon pictures on my iPod. Buying an updated iPod Touch may solve the problem, but that is not an option at the moment. This one is so old it doesn't have a cam or anything... but it still works very well.

You say you have a 1G iPod. Those can only gas as high as iOS 3.1.3 that you get here:
Purchasing iOS 3.1 Software Update for iPod touch (1st generation)
However, not there are few apps still compatible with the 3.1.3. Many have been udated so theay are no lnoger compatible with th 3.1.3.
Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

  • -208 error when syncing from mac to ipods

I am getting a -208 error everytime I sync an ipod or nano. The shuffle seems ok, no errors on syncing. Here's a screenshot:
    http://powermixx.com/atempdir/208error.png
When this error occurs and I press 'Ok', the songs will still sync to the ipod, but nothing else (photos, contacts, etc.).
When I plugged in this new nano, it prompted me to update the software to version 1.1.2 - which I did. I tried to 'Restore' to the original version, but that failed too!
    Any ideas why?

I restored my iPod and tried to only copy a small iPhoto album and I still got this error. I'm only trying to copy an iPhoto album and it still occurs. What's the deal, there's no way for me to try and locate a bad audio file out of 25,000 titles. And I'm not even trying to transfer music to the iPod...help!!~~~~

  • Some photos will not sync from iPhoto to iPad

I could REALLY use some help. For starters, here is what I am working with:
iPad3, 64 Gigs, 32 gigs free, up to date iOS
Mac Pro with OSX 10.8.3 and iPhoto 9.4.2
The main problem is that some photos can not be synced to my iPad. I have done this for years using iTunes. When I am in iTunes, I can see the albums where the photos are supposed to be. But often, the number of photos in the folder is listed as zero. Other times, the number is less than the number that is actually in the folder on my Mac. Syncing or Applying does not find and move the seemingly invisible pictures. The photos on my Mac are in JPEG format, and can be seen and emailed and edited, etc. on my Mac. I just cant get my iPad to see them and sync them. To say the least, this is problematic, I use my iPad show my craftwork photos to clients, and I can't get some newer photos put on the beautiful handheld iPad.More (potential) pieces of the puzzle:
the issues seem more frequent with new photos. Old albums seem stable and transferable
I have done some things like clearing ALL photos off my iPad, restarting it, then moving the albums back on to the iPad using iTunes. Didn't help
iPhoto on my Mac does sometimes exhibit some crankiness. It tends to crash if I choose Info on any photo. Sometimes it loses photos I have imported. Sometimes it duplicates some photos in a folder.
I have tried restarting my Mac, have done disk diagnostics, have zapped PRAM, repaired permissions.... all sorts of things like that
A few weeks ago, I backed up my iPhoto library to another drive, then run a couple of the options in the Rebuild iPhoto Library menu. None of that helped.
I think there may have been a few other anomolies in the last few months, but the ones above are the things I can remember
Any help would be super kind of you. I am a Mac user since the very original 128k 1984 Mac. And I have figured out a lot of minor problems in all those years. This one seems so mysterious and intractable. And is really putting a kink in my use of the iPad.
    Thanks in advance, Peter

didn't try the reboot but when I took my first picture wit the iphone camera then all photos showed up in 'photos' album along with 'camera roll'

  • All photos disappeared when upgrading from iPhoto 4 to Photo 8.

Yesterday I bought a new MBP 2.5 GHz 15" to substitute my older laptop, an iBook G4 12". In that iBook I used the original iLife package bundled, including the iPhoto 4. All my pictures were stored in an external hard drive, into an iPhoto Library folder.
I used Migration Assistant to transfer all my data from that iBook to my new MBP, through Firewire. Everything went nice except for few programs that weren't universal which I'm still fixing.
When opening the new iPhoto in this MBP, it asked for the iPhoto Library Folder, and I indicated the old folder located at my external hard drive. After selecting it, appeared a dialog box saying that the new iPhoto Library folder wouldn't be readable in older iPhoto versions, and I selected ok. Than it created all my albums inside nicely but to my surprise (and despair) all my pictures were gone. To make things worse, I don't have backup of those hi-res, only the ones formated to my iPhone that I already recovered from it.
I don't know what to do, and I'm desperate since invaluable data from years worth are simply gone because of a stupid upgrade that Apple made. I can't understand how Apple didn't make and option to duplicate the iPhoto folder or ask if I wanted to backup it before upgrading if there was such a risk.
Since this happened I tried to recover the data using Data Rescue II, and I haven't cleaned the trash yet, but I can't find the files. If someone could please give me a suggestion I would really appreciate it.

Migration Assistant is known for not handling iPhoto libraries very well. I suggest you copy the old library again but this time manually and put it in the Pictures folder. Thendownload and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name in the owner section and Staff in the group section. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
After that's complete open iPhoto and let it convert the library again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Photos rotating when uploading from iPhoto to Facebook.

This is driving me crazy! In my iPhoto library my photos are portrait (how I want them) but when I highlight and drag them to Facebook to be part of a post some of the pictures rotate sideways.
Could someone please!!! help me with this.
    Thankyou in advance.

Have you tried to use the "Share" command instead of dragging to the Facebook album? My "Portrait" photos are showing correctly upright when I use the "Share" button in the footer if the iPhoto window.

  • Some music not syncing from iTunes to iPod Touch

I downloaded music from two different artists recently. I created playlists for both. I changed the number ordering on the playlists a bit. And now I no longer have those artist's music on my iPod. I have tried:
    * Restoring original settings
    * Double checked the file types on the music
    * Manually added the music back on to the iPod, then synced
    * Adding ALL of the music library onto my iPod (hoping those artists will be added too)
    Nothing has worked. Any suggestions??

    Just a stab:
The song titles need to have a check mark next to them in order to sync.
    Thanks ... Ken

  • Syncing from iPhotos with .mov that cannot be played?

I get a message when syncing from iPhoto because a .mov file cannot be played on my iPad. What options do I have besides checking [] Do not warn me again?

That will be a way to get it to my iPad. I expect it will still fail to synchronize with my iPhoto.
When I check of to not tell me that the synchronization failed, will it only do so for that particular item? Is there a way to select an album with my iPhoto sync, but exclude that particular video?

  • TA22992 Trying to sync new photos from iphoto withou having the old photo synced on ipad2 but when I select sync from iphoto the old photos are already included. How do I stop itunes from preselecting photos? Already try "selected albums, events, etc" no

Trying to sync new photos from iphoto without having the old photo synced on ipad2 but when I select sync from iphoto the old photos are already included. How do I stop itunes from preselecting photos? Already tried selecting "selected albums, events, and faces, and automatically include" then I enter "no Events" with no success the photos still are being synced along with the new photos. I want to be able to add new photo and remove old photos. Please help this has taken a lot of my time trying to figure it out.

If I knew the answer I would have given it - but since it is not an iPhoto question I suggested
You might try the iPad forum - or the iTunes forum - this really is not an iPhoto question
