Photos not deleting?

When I go under Settings>General>Usage and look under the storage for the native Photo app it says that it's using 489MB in memory but I only have 7 pictures that I took with the built in camera in the app... About a month ago I deleted almost my entire 428 picture library straight from the app but it should have changed the file size by now. I've tried hooking it into my computer and looking in iTunes and under "My Comuter" (I have a Dell computer running Windows Vista Ultimate) but I can't find any other pictures that don't show up in the app. I'm getting frustrated because I'm starting to get low on memory and I would like to get rid of this wasted space... Any ideas?

Photos not deleting in iPhoto

Photos are not deleting in iPhoto library. When I select a photo and hit delete they photo does not delete and the next photo is highlighted. I've tried to drag photos to the iPhoto trash but that doesn't work either. I was having similar problems when working in the iPhoto library on my Air and had to rebuild the library/thumbnails. It also will not merge two Events together. This was the same problem I had before I rebuilt the library. This worked for a little (an hour) while but am now having the same issues. I am syncronizing my libraries with Chronosync but haven't ran into this problem before. I'm using iPhoto 9.

I am in the process of organizing all my photos (around 24,000), starting to name Faces, merging Events, rating photos, and deleting photos. After I work a while I run into this problem above.

Iphone 6 -- iOS 8.1.3 -- screen constantly freezing, Apps instantly crashing, Photos not deleting, iMessages disappearing, iCloud not reflecting correct backups

Ever since downloading iOS 8.1.3 on my iPhone 6, I've been experiencing quite a few issues (I am assuming all are related to the update, but not sure)
I apologize in advance for the lengthy post! Here goes:
     • Screen constantly freezes--sometimes it freezes on the home screen (no apps open), other times when I am in Settings, Photos or any of my downloaded apps. Each time this happens I have to restart the phone by holding the home and lock buttons in order to unfreeze the screen...this happens approximately 4-5x per day.
     • All of my apps either freeze or crash upon opening, and my Mail app either refuses to stay open or it will show an empty inbox with 'no mail' --even though my email has always been synced to the phone.
     • I am not receiving a lot of iMessages or incoming calls to my iPhone, but most of the missing iMessages will appear on my MacBook Pro. And when I do receive iMessages normally, entire portions of certain conversations--both sent & received--keep disappearing (whether my iphone is on all day or if I have to restart it). *the convo that has gone MIA on my iPhone will still appear on the other persons phone.
     • When I open Messages or Recent Call logs, the contact names do not appear..only 10-digit phone numbers. (Even though all of the #s are saved by name in Contacts).*This has only happened a few times so far.*
     • Furthermore--and most frustrating!--my camera and photos are practically inaccessible. Almost every time I open 'Photos', the app crashes.. I have no available storage to use the camera so when I try to select photos and hit 'delete' the app crashes instead of deleting the photos.
     • I have considered performing a factory reset... however, my iCloud states I have 4.6gb available (w/ 5gb plan) even though my photos are turned on in iCloud, and should be taking up most of the 5gb storage space..they appear 'On,' but do not show up under 'Manage Storage'...the only apps/documents/data shown are WhatsApp and Mail so I am afraid to reset the phone as I have no idea if the photos are actually backed up or not. If anybody has been experiencing any of the same issues I would greatly appreciate your insight or advice for how to fix this! I'm hoping it is just a bug with the new iOS software and not an issue with my phone itself as it is only 3 months old.. Thank you in advance!

**Adding to the final photo in my original post... When I select the 'Kendall Anderson's...This iPhone' using 324.2MB, Photo Library is turned 'On', but has 'No Data'....I know this is not possible because my photos that were previously backed up used up ~3.5GB of storage.
Either I am doing something wrong here, or my iPhone just has a mind of its own with this new update!

Photos not deleted

I have duplicated an iPhoto library and slimmed it down by deleting all that I don't need for a specific slideshow so that I can copy it between machines and select or edit it as required.
The photos that I need come to about 8GB. I noticed that the whole iPhoto Library is over 16GB. On examination I find many events are still in the package - though they don't show up as events or photos in iPhoto display. There are folders of photos for each year and folders of modified and originals.
Is there an easy way to tidy this up?

Rebuilding did not make much difference - 54 orphaned photos found and removed.
If iPhoto doesn't know about these rogue files it won't hurt to forcefully remove them?
Correct, as it turned out! Library is now just over half the original size. iPhoto did not crash or report any problems. Not be be recommended without a backup.

Photos not deleting images from mac

Hi All,
OK, so the issue is that I have taken some photos on my iPhone and these have synced to my Mac and iPad using iCloud Photo Library as expected. However I then deleted these photos from iCloud Photo Library using my iPhone and they can no longer been seen in the iCloud Photo Library, or in Recently Deleted (as this has been emptied). However they are still on my Mac's local hard drive. If I try to import them on my Mac I get a message asking if I would like to import the duplicate photo(s), but I cannot find them anywhere in the library.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get rid of these images from my Mac?

They may be filed away in a Moment with an incorrect date - have you tried the search field to search for a part of the filename?
You already tried to repair the Photos Library, right?
Then it may be a problem of corrupted preferences files:
The Photos.app stores the preference settings in a file in your hidden User Library. If this file has become corrupted, you can see all kinds of problems with the graphical user interface - missing menu items, invisible photos, etc.
To remove this file, do the following.
Quit Photos, if it is running.
Reveal your user library and delete this folder: ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Photos/
To reveal the hidden User Library:
Bring the Finder forward by clicking on the Desktop or the Finder icon in the Dock.
Select your user/home folder (with the house icon in the Finder sidebar)
With that Finder window as the front window, press the key combination ⌘J to bring up the View options.
In the View options panel enable ’Show Library Folder’. That will make your user library folder visible in your Home folder.
Open your Home folder, then the Library folder, then Containers.
Move the complete folder com.apple.Photos to your desktop. Move the entire folder, not just the contents.

ICloud photostream photos not deleting from all devices

how can i delete my photos from my icloud photostream on EVERY device on the cloud account. I
have deleted them but they still can see them. My photostream is off, however i want to prevent my parents seeing them on their photostreams on our iCloud account. Thanks for any help

It depends on the type of email account you are using, not on iCloud. If you are using an IMAP or exchange account, when you delete from one device, it is deleted from all devices. If you are using a POP (POP3) account, it won't. (iCloud email, Gmail and Yahoo are all IMAP accounts.)

hello, i recently discovered some images that i deleted from stream and camera roll a while back still appear in moments/collections, the grey trash can in the top corner (ipad) is faint and not available to me? any advice please!!!?

Deleted photos not deleted from hard drive

I have deleted photos from Lightroom 4 by choosing the 'remove from disk' option. I never want to see them again so want them to go into the iMac Trash. However they are still in the folder where the original RAW files are on my desktop. Am I doing something wrong or does the delete process take a while to complete?

There is no "Remove from disk" option.
If you click Remove, the files are removed from your LR catalog. If you click Delete from Disk, they are sent to the recycling bin/trash can - provided the disk has one and you have premission to use it.

Disk space for photos not deleting

I have an iPhone 6 where I deleted all photos and videos, then deleted them again from the recently deleted folder. Yet, usage shows my photo library still taking up 3.8GB of space. Can anyone tell me how to delete for good?

IPhoto is not deleting my photo and freezes. Please help.

I updated my iPhoto and now I am organizing and deleting some photos however it does not delete.
I tried cutting it and it went to trash in iPhoto, and tried clearing the trash bin and it does not do anything.
I also tried in the General tab to delete a photo and it freezes.
It must be a bug on the latest update.
Any thoughts?

How can I tell whether or not a photo I delete from iPhone will also be deleted from iPhoto on my Mac?

I would like to download the new iOS, however when I go to do that, a message tells me that I cannot because I need 4.6 GB of storage in order to install it. I only currently have 864 MB of storage available on my 16 GB iPhone 5s.
The storage problem would be fairly easy to solve through deleting photos and/or videos, as the Photos & Camera app shows a current usage of 5.7 GB. I am perfectly comfortable deleting photos off my iPhone if I know that they will remain in iPhoto on my Mac. However, when I select photos to delete, the phone warns me that the photo(s) will also be deleted from Photo Stream on all my devices. I tested this with some photos I didn't care about (whether or not they got permanently deleted from all devices), and it is perplexing, because even though the iPhone warned me that the photos would be deleted on other devices, they have not deleted out of iPhoto on my Mac. I even Quit iPhoto and re-started it, but the photos are still there. Why would the iPhone claim that the photos would be deleted from other devices, but yet clearly the photos are not being deleted from my other device? This leaves me confused and unsure.
Meanwhile, if I select a bunch of photos then click Delete, the phone warns me that SOME photos will also be deleted from Photo Stream on all my devices.
I am very annoyed by the ambiguity of the word "some," and not being able to know for sure whether or not photos I delete off my iPhone will still remain in iPhoto on my Mac.
I would just like a really clear answer if possible: currently all my iPhone photos are showing up in iPhoto on my Mac. If I delete photos off of my iPhone, will they or won't they be deleted from iPhoto on my Mac?

If the Photos have been moved into the Library (Events, Photos, Faces, Places) in iPhoto on your Mac (either because you did it manually or as a result of iPhoto > Preferences > iCloud > Automatic Import being on) then nothing you do on the phone will delete them from iPhoto on your Mac.
If the Photos are ONLY in the Shared - iCloud section of iPhoto then you risk losing them as deleting them from Photo Stream will delete them from there.

I realise you can you can delete them on your ipod slowly as you have to click on each one, and you can restore your ipod, but surely there is a way to get around this?

The only way to delete photos NOT in the camera roll is to sync the phone with those photos deselcted.
@iLikeCheesyStuff: The photo stream photos are in the camera roll as well. The OP is referring to photos synced to his phone, which can't be deleted directly on the phone.

You delete them the same way you put them there, the sync process.

Hi. I down load all of my pictures to iPhoto. I was removing some even folders to make room, but DID NOT delete any of the ones I needed (and there are a lot of photos as I am a photographer just starting out). All of my photos are gone. ALL of them.

Can anyone help me. All of my photos from iPhoto are gone. There are three weddings that I photographed and may other sessions (I am a brand new photographer and this is going to kill my business). I am so sick to my stomach. I was deleting some even files due to the fact that the start up disk was almost full but DID NOT delete everything. I finished what I was doing and then went to dinner. I came home to do more editing and EVERYTHING is gone. EVERYTHING, but the iphoto program was still there. Is there any chance that these pictures could still be somewhere on the hard drive?

Did you use the finder to delete any photos that are in iPhoto?
If so you have trashed your library - you choices are to put it back EXACTLY like it was, restore your backup or start over (right click on the iPhoto library and show package contents, drag the masters folder to the desktop, create a new library and start importing
NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure or content of the iPhoto library - ONLY use iPhoto to manage yoru photos
