Photos not importing / import issue

Pleeeeeease help me. This is driving me crazy! I have what seems like an intermittent problem with LR4.3.
Sometimes it lets me import and edit no problem, then sudenly the import won't work almost like it can't see the images because the preview doesn't show.
A few times when this happens I restart then it works again, but this time I've tried everything and nothing works :-(
When I select "cancel import" I have to force quit to get anyting to work.

I'm having a similar problem with Import. I'm not importing from a card. I'm trying to import from files I've already moved to my harddrive. When I select the folder with the pics to import, I get nothing but a lot of blank boxes, just like the image above. If I click on a box, I get the pic. When I try to import one or all of them, Import just hangs. When I cancel the import after a ridiculously long time of nothing happening, I get an error message that says "No photos or videos found to import" — even though there's a folder full of photos I pointed LR at. I've reinstalled LR 4.3, but then I read that doesn't do anything, and it didn't. I've restarted the computer. I've reimported the photos to another folder. I've unplugged the camera, I've unplugged other USB stuff — even though I don't see how this could have anything to do with anything, and hasn't in the pas. Nothing, nothing, and more nothing.

See this article: iPad: Using the iPad Camera Connection Kit
No, this canot be done, afaik. When your camera or card is connected, you will see the thumbnails in the camera pane, but not full size preview. So to browse your photos on the iPad you will need to import them to your camera roll. But you need not delete them from the camera or card after importing, so you might simply import selected photos to your camera roll from the camera grid and then delete them again from the camera roll after importing and browsing, without removing them from the card/camera.

  • Iphoto: find photos not imported in the iPhoto Library

    Hello
I've got this message from iPhoto since few days, trying to repair the DB with no success, any idea ??
In English : Photos not imported are find in the iPhoto library.
I've also tried this terminal command to optimze the DB for dbase in *.db; do sqlite3 $dbase "vacuum;"; done but no success.
    Thanks for your feedback

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. Make no other changes. Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.

  • Yosemite Photos not importing Nikon D40 RAW+JPEG

I tried to import RAW+JPEG photo sets from an SD card of a Nikon D40 and my first impression was that the photos were imported, they appeared on the Last Import album but then I noticed these issues:
    1. I was not able to edit the photo
    2. I was not able to select the RAW file to edit it
    3. When tried to import from Facebook, the Finder interface was not able to located the imported photo even though it appear on Photos app
I thought that the issue was related to the SD card so I connected the D40 via USB and imported again. Nothing different happen, the same 3 issues.
    My workaround was this:
    1. Insert the SD Card in the slot
    2. Open Finder
    3. Navigate through the folders to locate the NEF file (RAW file)
    4. Copy the file to the Desktop
    4. Open Photos
    5. Import the  NEF file from the Desktop
Edit was succesful and Facebook was able to upload it.

  • "do not import" issue in Address book

Hi, well I just switched and bought my first mac. I managed to get the address book from the ancient dell laptop into the desktop of mac as a .csv file(from excell in windows). The import utility recognizes all the addressed and names, but by all of them it has the "do not import" checkmark....would Love to know how to uncheck that....also tried to save it as a textedit file...can read it on the mac but address says no...I do not have ability to make vcard at this moment....any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem. Here is the background and the solution. I purchased a new iphone4 and had the contacts transferred from my old iphone 3g. When I added a contact using the option to add the contact from a received phone number or received text, the contact would not show up in "Contacts." If I did a spotlight search, I could find the contact. I also had the same problem with the 3g phone, but it didn't occur as a problem then since I didn't need to access the people I added that way very often.
The problem is that there was a corrupted address or photo attached to the contact data file. When I performed a reset (go to settings, general, reset, reset all settings) on the iphone, the missing contacts magically appeared in Contacts...but ONLY the first time I opened Contacts. So, I opened my Mac Address book and manually entered all the contact information from the missing contacts into the address book. Then I went into iTunes, connected my iphone, and performed a Restore. (WARNING: You will need to make sure that any purchases you made on your iphone have been transferred to your computer (songs, videos, apps, etc. plus you will need to sync any Notes as well) BEFORE you perform the Restore...otherwise you will lose these things and have to repurchase them!)
When you perform the Restore, you will be asked at some point to either set up the phone as a NEW phone or Restore from a backup. You MUST choose to set up the phone as a NEW phone. Otherwise you will simply place the corrupted file back on the phone. You can, after selecting the NEW option, allow the computer to place the address book, apps, and other files back on the iPhone. Your Contacts will then work as it should, and people you add from options outside of Contacts will be added to Contacts as they should.
Yes, it is a pain and will take an hour or more of your life to fix. But, it fixes the problem. The key is in setting up the phone as a New phone and not restoring from a backup.
    Hope this helps.

  • Photos not imported message after opening iPhoto 08

Has anyone ever experienced following Problem:
Everytime I open iPhoto it appears this error message: "9 photos have been found in the iPhoto Library that were not imported. Would you like to import them?". If I choose yes, iPhoto shuts down after a short while. If I choose no, it works, but everytime I do so, one foto is added to the fotos left to import.
How do I get rid of this fotos?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right click on it and choose 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window opens with your library inside. You should see a folder there called 'Importing' or perhaps 'Last Import' (NOT Auto Import). In side will be the offending files. Drag that folder to the desktop and launch iPhoto. Does it work normally?

  • Raw Photos not importing

Shot some photos on Raw with a Canon 60d. Transferred them to an external drive. Premiere Pro CC does non see the files. Can not import them. Only way was to convert them to tiff files. Should I had shot them in Canon RGB?

Not surprised. NLE's have been designed primarily to work with files that compared to stills cameras are "low res" ... but voluminous in number. NLE's have to handle thousands of images on the fly, that need de-compressing not just individually but whole groups "share" bits & pieces though perhaps in different places as subjects or camera move during a scene.
A D800 can produce relatively a MASSIVE single image file. It's a very different thing. Doing that much scaling on the fly is yes, a stretch for most NLE's. I'd also note that I've heard and seen many comments about the re-sizing of still images not being a strength of NLE's as compared to say Photoshop. So it is recommended that still images be sized per the sequence they'll be on before being imported. The exception of course is if one is doing the "Ken Burns" effect, and either panning across a section of a still image over time or zooming in or out over time. Yet even then it is recommended to figure out the largest image size you'll need and re-sizing to that in a stills image editor.

  • Photos not importing correctly to iPhoto library

I just realized that any photos I have been importing to the iPhoto library from somewhere on my hard drive rather than from an external device/camera have NOT actually been imported into the library, rather are still linked to the original file. This means that iPhoto can't always find the correct pathway to the correct file -- and it has backfired on me big time in that I ordered a $50 book and one of the images was wrong. Right thumbnail, but wrong actual photo, because the link had been lost. Beyond the aggravation that my book is now messed up and I apparently can't do anything about it since it's been more than 90 minutes, I want to fix this so that my iPhoto library is accurate and it doesn't happen again. I have been going to File - Import to Library, but it doesn't. It just links to the original file, which then can't be found once I reopen the program after quitting. Any advice? This only started happening since upgrading to '09, by the way.

Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
If you're running a Managed library, then it's the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing
If you're running a Referenced Library, then you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced and iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing.

  • Photos not importing from Canon camera.

I plug my Canon camera into my iMac and iPhoto asks if I want to import and as long as the camera is connected, it shows the pics were imported.  However, when I disconnect the camera, the photos do not show up.  My iMac is only a few weeks old and I did a migration from my old MacBook, could this have something to do with it?

  • Photos not importing into Iphoto

I am consolidating a couple photo libraries.  My default library opens fine.  The other libraries I have exported to a folder on my desktop.  I go to import photos from the desktop folder and everything seems to be fine.  Import progress is shown, picture count goes up and I can see all the photos.
Once I exit Iphoto and reopen the pics are not there.  I have done this a number of times and am wondering what is wrong.
The default location of my library is in my Users/Shared/Iphoto Library folder.  I was told to keep them in that folder that way my wife and I could use the same library from different user accounts.
    Thanks,
    Don

The only way to merge Libraries is with the paid version ($20) of iPhoto Library Manager
You're just exporting files from one and importing to the other. You're missing metadata, versions, edit history and so on.
    As to the problem described:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Aperture:  photos not importing in numerical order with Smart Album recently, Aperture:  photos not importing in numerical order with Smart Album recently

Aperture 2.1.4 has imported my digital photos numerically in Smart Albums perfectly till just recently.  Can anyone tell me what is happening?  Thank you.

The only thing worked was when I created a new Aperture library with only the projects I want. This brough me to think it maybe something to do with the size of my current library, which currently host over 10,000 photos, or there is something else wrong with my library?
Aperture is designed for really big libraries, so the size should not matter. But since you can sync a new library, I suspect, that your Aperture library may need repairing. Did you have an Aperture crash, that may have left your library in an inconsistent state?
Try the Aperture Library First Aid Tools on your main library: You can launch the "Library First Aid" by holding down the ⌥⌘-combination, when launching Aperture, see:
Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library

  • IPhoto library photos not imported

I imported approximately 20,000+ photos from my PC without a major problem, took some time. Now when I open iPhoto I get a message "8 Photos have been found in the iPhoto library that have not been imported, would like to import them now?"....no matter if you select yes or no the action remains the same....an album gets created called "recovered photos." If you close and open the program again the same action takes place and another album gets created. There are no photos nor files in the new album created. I just want this message to STOP. Every time I open iPhoto I have to deal with this message and delete the new album but am quickly getting tired of it.

  • Photos not importing raw pef ( pentax raw ) files

    Hi,
recently updated my 2010 macbook pro to the latest version of mavericks.
All my previously imported files are there - jpg, and raw, but trying to import some new photos it seems that only jpg's are being imported.
My pentax k10d is set to save in pef format as they are smaller than the adobe format raw photos.
Does anyone have any ideas how to import raw?
The saved photos on the sd card have the same name for both raw and jpg - only the extension is different.
I've checked in photos to see if there is a raw file 'behind' the jpg but the options for reprocessing raw and 'use raw as original' are greyed out. I can see that all the files are on the sd card in finder - I even tried dragging the raw files to the photos app from finder with no success.
    Thanks,
    Mark

The RAW files of your camera are supported by MacOS X 10.10.x.
My pentax k10d is set to save in pef format as they are smaller than the adobe format raw photos.
That may be the problem. For some supported cameras only the uncompressed RAW files are supported.  Have you tried to take a picture with uncompressed RAW? Will that be imported by Photos?

  • Iphone 4s photos not importing during wifi sync

iphoto used to automatically open during sync and ask to import new photos found on my phone, but this suddenly stopped working.  I've got an old version of iphoto 8.1.2, and OSX 10.8.4, itunes is updated.  How else can I get my photos into iphoto and off my phone?

Here is how in iPhoto 9.4.3. It is most likely the same
Make sure no cameras are connected to your computer.
Choose iPhoto > Preferences, and then click General.
Choose an option from the “Connecting camera opens” pop-up menu.

  • Casio Exilim Photos Not Imported :(

    Hi and tnxs for reading.
I have decided to import all my photos in iPhoto instead of referencing them but I had the bad surprise that I cannot import all my AVI clips made with a Casio Exilim Camera. They are read on my quicktime easily... I have even Perian installed, and they can be read in iPhoto if referenced... however cannot be imported...
    Any advice??
    Tnxs

Open the avi file in Quicktime Player and bring up the Moive Inspector window to see what the format is.
Then do the same with the new file you saved and see what the differences are.  If you have any movie clips that do import and run in your library check those also.
