Photos not placing in correct size?

I've just started playing around with this, so please excuse my ignorance.  I've made a cover photo in Photoshop.  It's 768 x 1024 at 72 ppi.  Saved as a Jpeg image.  When I place that photo in InDesign, it does not fill the page which is also 768 x 1024.  Any advice?

for best results use "Save for web & devices".
maybe you have a document setup up in print rendition and using mm for
document size, wich will result in difficult dpi conversion.
better don't care about dpi anymore, your are designing for the screen where
one pixel equals one pixel, there is nothing to convert via inch or so.
just work with pixel dimensions at all times and use "Save for Web &
Devices", that should give you the best results.

  • Why is Photo not placing at correct size?

I have only in the past day had this issue, but when I place an image into Muse saved for web through photoshop and illustrator, it places as a much smaller image. I tried doubling the size of the image, but it seems to shrink down to a default size. I tried scaling it up, but it is at "%100" and becomes much too "pixely".
    Thanks

    Hi Zenos,
I've discovered what is causing the problem, but I still need a way to fix it, if possible.
The cause of the problem is that in Windows 7 Control Panel > Display I have set the size of "text and other items" to 150% (otherwise everything is much too small too read on my screen's recommended resolution of 1920×1080).
I discovered that Irfan Viewer was also displaying at the incorrect resolution, but I managed to solve that problem by right-clicking on the IrfanView.exe icon and following Properties > Compatibility and selecting "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings".
I tried the same procedure with Thunderbird, but it made no difference. It is still displaying at the incorrect resolution.
    Any suggestions?
    Regards,

  • Published Course (Captivate 8) not displaying at correct size on Android tablet (HTML5)

I am now publishing my system simulations as both SWF and HTML5. They are set to NOT scale as they should fit correctly on all my client's screen resolutions. The simulations are built at 1006 x 627 pixels.
When uploaded to the LMS and tested on various devices everything displays OK on PC (swf) and ipad (html5) but I'm having issues on Android 4.1.2.and 4.2.2 (Chrome 37).
The whole of the simulation screen should be visual on the Android tablets which have a screen resolution of 1280x800. When taking into account the player top and bottom bars I still have 656 pixels to display the course content. However the 1006 is scaling to 1280 making the course height too high and dropping off the bottom of the screen.
If I publish with 'scaling' turn on the course now fits on the Android screen correctly i.e. height correct with spare width, but on non Android devices i.e. PC with high resolution, the course is now scaling up.
Why is the course not locked to correct size in Android?

      Hi,
I have added two images, one from the Android tablet which is stretching the slide to fill the screen width and another from a high resolution PC which is showing the simulation as the correct size.
The android device is 1280x800, the simulation is 1006x627

  • Photos do not import at correct size - help!!

    I'm a long-time user of Keynote since v.1, now using 6.1 on Maveriacks (10.9.1).
I make custom size presentations to size natively on my 1400 x1050 projector.
I've created and sized a batch of jpgs in Photoshop to be 1050 x 1050 square in order for them to display at full height in the presentation (centered on the slide).
When I drag and drop the images into the Navigator, the photos show up on each slide resized to 240 x 240. If I import them remotely via Command-Shift-V, the same thing happens. Same if importing from iPhoto.
In previous versions, the photos would import at their native size. I can't figure out any way to make this happen in 6.1. Manually resizing 500 photos on each individual slide (and then centering them on each slide, as you can't resize from the center) would be a major PITA.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That worked, Gary, thanks. I see no reason to make this a new requirement, but Photoshop actions at least make it do-able.
And Apple, if you make a change like this, at least put it somewhere in the documentation!
    Thanks again.

  • Leopard Preview Photos not sharp at screen size

I notice that when you double click a photo in Leopard, the image in Preview is not always sharp. If you expand the image to 100%, then it is sharp.
It was never like this in Tiger.
The image is not being re-sampled correctly to fit the screen.
If you open the same image in IPhoto, then it is sharp at screen size.

Everybody, report preview problems to apple at:

My biggest problem in preview 4.0 is it freezes while trying to view large images across four apple LCD's. Sometimes I see a gray screen.

  • External editor (PS CS3) not opening to correct size

I up-rezzed a 70mb photo in Genuine Fractals to about 120 mb, saved it, but now when I send it to the external editor, PS CS3, it keeps opening it to 70mb despite being sure I have the correct 120mb version selected. Any suggestions?
    thanks
    dave

it was imported as a cr2, however the version i'm trying to open is a master. the only two options for file format are psd and tiff, and i'm opening to a tiff, but i don't see what difference that would make.
HOWEVER i just figured it out... i had entered 360 dpi, the resolution that the high rez file is set at, which is also the native resolution my printer (and epson 3800) uses. I cancelled that and left it blank and now it opens at the correct file size. I have no idea why it would do that.

  • CS3: Exporting to .mov not rendering the correct size??

I'm using Flash CS3 and trying to export a Flash movie I made
as a .mov file. The file size is 1020x574. I export with the
"Render width" set to 1020, the "Render height" set to 574, and
"Maintain aspect ratio" is set (this is the same size as my stage,
fyi). However, every time I export it the resulting movie is some
completely different, distorted size, like 800x150 or something.
It's the same size every time.
    Any ideas what's wrong here?

Okay, I found part of my problem: the "render width/height"
has nothing to do with the output size. I clicked on the Settings
option, and saw that the Size was set to that strange size. I
clicked on Size to change it, and saw it was set to "Current" -- at
this point I realized that I had changed my stage size. The size
was incorrectly reporting the "current" size as the old stage size.
So I switched to a different setting, then back. However, that
didn't fix it. Switching to a different compression type did for
the "current" size to update, though.
However, I have another problem: my exported .mov file plays
very slowly and choppy. My timeline framerate is 30, and so is the
export setting. However, it plays very choppy when the .mov file is
    played back.
    Any ideas there?

  • My Airdrop Photos are not showing the correct date when I receive them from my Family.

When I recieve photos via Airdrop or Shared Photo Stream they are not in the correct order in my Camera roll. The Dates are off. What is happening here?

You don't need to delete photos from your camera roll to save on backup sizes, you can turn individual items on and off for back up in your iCloud back up settings.
Apple States that the last 3 back ups are accessible, which means the photos from your back up may not be removed immediately.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

  • Photos not loading correctly, distorted colors, lines, etc.

So, my wife's Macbook is having a problem... it will not load pictures correctly in iPhoto or from the Finder. to give you an idea of what the pictures look like, see here:
    http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v1949/149/17/633596272/n63359627222288712218.jpg
Every time you remove the drive/ camera it will change how messed up it is, and sometimes the pictures come through fine... it's not the camera, as we have tried her old and new camera, and it loads fine on another computer, just not on hers.
She's got a macbook loaded with the latest version of the OS with all the updates... she is running an old (5.5 I think) version of iphoto, which could be a problem, but it's hard to say because they load wrong even if you do not open iphoto... the only way I can get the pictures to load correctly on her computer is by opening them from the image capture application... they open fine inside the program, but once you download the images to the computer, they look messed up again, like in the linked photo...
It definitely seems like a software related issue, maybe an incompatible codec associated with iphoto, or something else...
I've tried trashing the iphoto prefs, and I don't know how long ago this started and AFAIK, there hasn't been any software installed that should create a conflict...
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Will

I just moved quicktime components to the trash to where quicktime will not load or work at all,
What won’t “load or work at all”? Quicktime Player?
I don't think that all of the imaging on the computer goes through quicktime somehow, that is a bit ridiculous and far fetched to think that...
“ridiculous and far fetched”, like confusing QuickTime Player with the Quicktime technology? But what the heck, why don’t you explain to me how it all works then?

  • My new ipad photos are not in the correct albums

Ok so I got the new iPad, and transferred everything including my photos from my iPad 2 backup. I have about 600 pictures divided into 7 folders. After syncing, I looked at the photos and saw that the pictures are on my iPad but not in the correct folders.
For example, say I've got a Pets folder, Wallpapers folder and Personal folder. Those folders are on my iPad.  On my computer, the Pets folder only has pictures of my dog, the wallpaper folder only has some background images, etc. on my iPad the pictures are all jumbled up. When I click on the Pets folder, there will be a few pet pictures, a few wallpapers and a few personal photos. Same for the other folders.
I tried resyncing from the backup and resyncing not from the backup. All with the same result. I also checked the folder I'm syncing from on the computer, and the photos are all in the right place there.
Kind of frustrating. Ever heard of this before and is there a solution?

Well I fixed it, accidentally on my own. My pictures were still jumbled up. I had to save another picture from the Internet onto my camera roll, BAM, suddenly all of my photos shifted into their correct folders.
Somehow Saving another picture fixed whatever the error was. In any case, thanks for the help everyone. If anyone else has this issue, try saving another photo to your camera roll.

  • Photo will not go to full size

photos will only go full size in edit. wont open with double click either

are marked with an exclamation and I cannot edit, bring to full size, or upload
The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
If neither help, how did you bring them from the old machine to the new one?

  • Photos not synced correctly to iphone... Unorganized and out of order

After syncing my Iphone 4s with my macbook pro, all of my "Event" photos are out of order. If I open a specific event there will be photos that do not belong there and have no relation to that event... Same with the "faces" feature... I will specifically look for all pictures with "Mary's" face and majority of the pictures are other people with "Mary" not even in those pictures...
I have looked at my macbook and all of the photos seem to be correct on that and in the right locations... Not sure how to fix this problem or what to do :-/
This is a feature that I use constantly and would appreciate if someone could help guide me to correcting it....

    Hi Tasha48323,
If you are having issues with unusual or incorrect data after a recent sync with iTunes, you may want to turn off the sync options for Photos, click Apply (this should clear that data off the iPhone), then turn Photo syncing back on and Apply again (which should resync all the data back). You may find the Resolution section of the following article helpful (the article primarily concerns a slightly different issue, but the steps are the same):

  • Illustrator not exporting at correct pixel size...

Hi, im having trouble setting up an illustrator doc that exports at the correct size so i can work with exported elements in photoshop, using CS5 for both.
What i am trying to do is set up a wireframe illustrator doc for creating iphone 4 artwork, the iphone4 screen size is 640px x 960px (326ppi).
So, i have set illustrator to measure units (general, stroke & type) in pixels, then created an artboard 640 x 960. If i draw a shape to fill the artboard then export it, the exported image is 2892px x 4348px
Similarly, if i create an image in photoshop thats 640px x 960px, then open that image with illustrator, the artboard thats created for it is 141.35px x 212.025px
Can anyone suggest what might be causing this? and how i can correct it so that my pixel measurements match in both programs?
    thanks
    Richard

Hi justjoshuasp and welcome to the forum,
First, did you register to the Adobe forums just to respond to this 7 months old thread?

Third, what do you expect to happen when changing the "Document Raster Effect Settings". The OP didn't mention  anything about using raster effects and unless such effects are used these settings will make no difference.
Forth, while your statement about higher ppi adding more clarity is correct, have in mind that this is valid mostly when comparing the same size with different pixel density, otherwise your general conclusions and logic is wrong. The major difference between different pixel densities is not clarity but the size of the pixels and thus the size of the final image - the clarity is  by-product of this. In order to define clarity you have to add the viewing distance in the equation. I have created images for billboards and huge digital murals with pixel density of 10 ppi and I can assure you that all images with such sizes are created with similar pixel density. According to your logic they should be completely unclear and impossible to see comparing to images displayed on i-phones.
When creating for phones and other small displays, in order to see exact details of the final raster image with nothing less or more, the vector graphic in illustrator has to be zoomed to the same physical size on your screen that Photoshop is displaying at 100% zoom using an image with the final pixel dimensions. it is also a good idea to have the image on an additional window zoomed out to the real physical size of the phone screen to get the feel of the final physical dimensions. But because desktop monitors don't have the high pixel density of the phones, the detail will be lost when displaying the real size. Moving a little bit away from the screen to Increase the viewing distance when looking at the larger image with all details in it, can very well approximate the final experience.
