Photos on an iBook

Is there a way to view photos on an iBook?  Perhaps with a slide show, full screen?

Yes, you can do this with iPhoto, a part of iLife.
Go to the Applications folder and see if iPhoto is there. If it is, double-click on it to open it and import the photos that are on the iBook. Within iPhoto, you can create slideshows and view them fullscreen.

  • Photo resolution in iBooks

I've ordered a few of the iBooks before -- the early versions were gorgeously printed, but recent ones have been sort of substandard print jobs - as I'm just about to order another one, I decided to do a PDF version first to see how things look, and I noticed that the resolution is only 180dpi, when all of my photos were 300 dpi when I dropped them into the album layout.
Is 180dpi the default, and is it possible to "upgrade" that default somewhere, to 300dpi?

Pref Setter is a separate program. Download it here:

  • Photo booth and iBook

Can I buy a logitech camera, upgrade to leopard and use photo booth? My daughter loves it on my MacBook Pro, but unfortunately we bought her iBook G4 a month before the newer version came out with the built in camera. Any body have any luck with this? The logitech camera for sale at the Apple store says it does not work with photobooth, I guess it's just for video type conferencing.

I haven't tried Photo Booth with my iBook G4.
According to info at this link, it requires a G5 or better processor. Therefore it would appear that it will not work on the iBook G4.
The Logitech Ultra Vision works great for iChat video conferencing.

  • The new photo app and iBooks Author

I updated to Mac Os-x 10.1.3 and when opening iBook Author, in the media picker under photos the new photo app is missing to pick photos.
Does anyone have a solution? or do I need to be patient for an update.
    Brgds, Jelger

OK some progress to report as a temporary fix.
It looks like when you install the Photo update the relationship between iBooks Author and your photos is broken because the media pane shows no images.  I had the same issue as Jelger.
However, iPhoto is still in your applications folder so I tried opening it (as I prefer the ability to organise photos in the old program).  To my surprise the act of opening iPhoto seemed to restore a link with Author.  So now, when I open Author I get access restored to my iPhoto library and can use my old working method.
Of course, this won't last for ever.  Apple will not support iPhoto any more so someday an update might affect it.  Also, if Apple bring out a fix to link Author and the new Photo this would break the link I have re-established with iPhoto.  I'm also concerned that an update linking Author to Photo will make navigation more difficult.  iPhoto has a natural structure for finding images to  put in books whereas Photo does not.
Anyway, for the time being everything works again.....  I hope this helps.

  • I modified photos outside of ibook author, does it automatically update it

    Hi
Is there a way to update photos that have been modified, say in Photoshop. As I am doing it now, I have to delete photo and re-add it; not an efficient process.
    Thanks

I address this mainly to those who may view who have similar questions.
While its always good to send in feedback,  fact is the last update showed that in the main,  feedback ideas, suggestions and request have been - as yet - ignored.
The software is provided free and was created to suit Apples requirements for ebooks made for the iBooks store.
It should be remember Apple recommend  that the all content of a book  should be prepared OUTSIDE iBooks Author and when  editted to its final version, imported into iBA and tuned in as needed.
Text can be created in MS Word or iPages or any simple text editor and  imported into your book for a final edit.
iBA does have  an image editor = View > Adjust Image - which  will make basic corrections to images.
You can also "crop" using the Mask function.
Apple IMHO, are never going to  integrate an image editor anything near as good as Photoshop or any of its lesser functioned alternatives.
BellaGolfer: In your case, you  had the images prior to importing into your book, logically you still have that version. If at a later stage you have  changed the images, all that is needed is to drag and drop into the same imageholder in your book and  it/they replace your old version(s).
Ofcourse if you  want to change images or text  after your book is in the iBooks store... it will need a book update to be delivered.
Its better you use whatever image editor you are familiar with to adjust your images - and if needed, use the iBA Adjust Image to tweak if needed.
A very useful video showing  the functions etc,. of iBA can  viewed  and there is full iBA User Guide and other  must have  guides  which can be downloaded  from your   iTunes Connect > Deliver your Books page
To any newcomer wondering how to set up accounts - the user guide above takes you from that to delivering your  finished book.

  • How can i transfer music and photos from my ibook g4 to my new mac mini?

the g4 has a firewire 400 and the mini is firewire 800.  IS there 400 to 800 firewire or a male-male usb2 cable out there?  I've tried moving files to my external drive and then moving to the mini but the photos move over as one event. The music moves fine but the 2 step process is slow and tedious.  Is there an easier way?

    Hello,
Firewire cables with a Firewire 800 connector on one end and a Firewire 400 connector on the other end are common.  For instance, the Belkin 6'/1.8m FireWire 800/400 Cable.

  • How do I import photos in my iBook Library to my G5 Library w/ album names?

I want to combine my iBook Library with my G5 Library.
They are connected via a wireless network.
What is the easist way to do this?
    Thanks for the info
    Len

    Len:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The easiest way to do that would be with the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager. It can merge libraries while maintaining the album, keyword, and other organizational information. Otherwise, you'd have to burn one of the libraries to disk using the Share->Burn Disc menu option. If your library is small enough you could burn the entire library to one DVD and then mount that DVD with the other iPhoto library and copy those rolls, albums, etc. into the other library. Or you can do it by burning selected rolls or albums. There will be a problem with keywords as there's a bug in V5 that messes up the keywords when burning that way. You're best bet would be the iPhoto Library Manager method.

  • Dell photo 924 printer ibook g4 and tiger

    hello all,
I would be most grateful if anyone could give me some suggestions regrding getting my printer to work.
The driver which came with it is for windows. Have I made a costly error?
    Adnan Sharaf

    Basically yes.
Dell do not provide Mac printer drivers for their low end printers.
I would suggest selling it and getting a printer which is Mac compatible.

  • HT1040 trying to make an ibook and have 800 photos, want format of 8 photos/page, but default is not that- "create" the initial book from iphoto "album" it loads less than 800 pics and then when i change layout i have blanks.

trying to make an ibook and have 800 photos, want format of 8 photos/page, but default is not that- "create" the initial book from iphoto "album" it loads less than 800 pics and then when i change layout i have blanks.
if i clear the book so that it is all blanks and then try to load in the pictures i have it loses the chronology of the pictures that i had established in the album.
is there a way to import photos into an ibook template and keep the original order of the photos without having to do them one at a time?
also, is there a way to insert a photo rather than just dragging it? i have tried the cut and paste funciton but it doesn't seem to work, the target site doesn't seem to register with iphoto.
    many thanks for your help.

Photos are added to book in chronological order.  So if you want to add them to a book in the order you have placed them manually in an album do the following:
1 - select all the photos in the album.
2 - use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date menu option as shown here. Select any date and add 1 minute between photos.
3 - select just one photo from the album and create a book from it.
4 - in the book click on the Options button ➙ Book Settings button and make sure the checkbox for Auto-layout pages is unchecked.
5 - drag the album with your book photos onto the book icon and they will be imported into the Photos tray of the book in your pre-determined order but not into the pages themselves.

  • When importing photos with iBooks Gallery widget, is anyone aware of a technique for simultaneously importing the photo's description (or jpeg file name) and writing it into the iBook Author caption field for the imported photo?

When importing photos with the iBooks Author Gallery widget, is anyone aware of a technique for simultaneously importing the photo's description (or jpeg file name) and writing it into the iBook Author caption field for the corresponding imported photo? I have 4,800 stills to import and can't imagine it's necessary to copy and paste the description for each.

As always, feel free to use the 'Provide iBooks Author Feedback' menu item for features you'd like added in the future, etc.

As for AS, I'm not sure anyone has sniffed iBA's dictionary yet...google is you friend for hot prospects, I'm sure

  • Cannot edit photo in iBook

After placing a photo on an ibook page, I try to edit it. I highlight the picture & click on options. When I click on "edit photo" it goes to that menu, but the photo does not appear. Just black. Any ideas on why that may be? I've already made a book successfully by following those steps, so I'm lost on this one. Thanks.

What was the sequence of installing and uninstalling different versions of
    Photoshop?
Try reinstalling CS6 or use this registry

  • Can i import or copy photo to ibook on iphone 5

can i import or copy photo to ibook on iphone 5 or can i open photo attachement in ibook on iphone5

Here is some more info that might help clarify some of the issues.
My contact card and all of my other contacts show on my iPad (IOS 7)and in iCloud.
Everything after this has to do with my iphone.
All of my contacts but mine shows up on my iPhone 5 (IOS 7)
Siri no longer has a clue to who I am but gives me the chance to be anyone from my contacts...other than me because I am not one of her options.
Contacts are "on" in setting for mail and iCloud.
My info is not in Settings>Mail, contacts, calanders>My Info> contacts
I have backed up my phone and nothing changed.
I have tried a hard reboot.
I have not tried to add my info again into my phone mainly because I don't want to have two of me on everything else.
I have tried to search my phone number in contacts but the more numbers I typed in the list got smaller and smaller until my number was in and the list was blank.
I have made sure that every place I can search with spotlight search was turned on and searched my name and also did a search for my phone number. Only my name showed up in other people's contact info as brother or husband.
I know I am forgetting something but this is what I have gone over so far.

  • I have created a book  in Photo Essay that is extra large (10 by 13") and I just realized that I want a 8 1/2"by 11" book.  Can I transfer all the pages to the smaller sized book.  If so, how?  Thanks so much for your help.

I have created an extra large (10"-13") Photo Essay style iBook in Aperture and just realized that all my other iBooks are 8.5"-11".  How can I transfer all the formatted pages to the smaller book size without having to start over?  Thanks so much for your help.
    Apple Phan

    Apple Phan,
that will require some extra work. If you change the book size, some of your edits will probably be lost, because texts and photos that will not fit the smaller layout will be removed. The best you can do will be to save your current book, so you can compare. Try the following:
Create a PDF preview of  the current version of the book and save the PDF, see:  iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture
Duplicate the book: File > Duplicate
Then change the Book Sizeof the copy  (from the Theme Button) and compare, what is missing, hopefully not to much.

  • Ibooks author inspection widget: grayed-out title and caption options when object is selected

I'm trying to add titles or captions to photos in an iBooks Author project. I select the photo, click on Inspector and Widget, then Layout.  The only active option on Layout is the Accessibility Notes.  Is this a bug? What am I missing?

    Right.
You can create text boxes next to an image for title and caption, but otherwise, those are attributes for a widget with media.
