Photos on DVD

Hi
Can't see any photos in lion DVD comes up as a blank DVD. Is there a fix for this yet as this should be a basic function, not a roadblock!

it shouldnt matter what format the DVD is if i can see the pictures on snow leopard why cant i see it on lion computers? It was done by a professional photographer.
whats the point in having new software if something doesn't work on it that works on the old software?

  • How can I import the photos from dvd or hard disk?

    Hi!
How can I import/export my photos from dvd or hard disk??!

To what?    Are you having trouble with a DVD made by a particular device, or a hard disk that was on a particular computer, or is still in that computer, and communicating to your computer?  We don't have enough details to answer the question.    Are you trying to get photos into an iPhoto certain version, Photoshop certain version, just the Finder of a  certain version, or specific operating system on your Mac?    We need more details.  Is the DVD a standard DVD, such as is indicated on http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2446 or something non-standard?

  • Copy photos from DVD to Mac?

I would like to copy photos from DVD to Mac computer anyone know how to do it.

If the DVD was made on a Mac and they're JPEGs they should openable in Preview from the DVD. If so, just select them and drag them into a new folder to copy onto your hard drive. If the Mac doesn't recognize the DVD and it doesn't mount in the finder window or on the desktop, I'd say you're out of luck. But there are work arounds possible and too many to discuss without knowing a lot more about your setup and the DVD.

  • Burning photos onto dvd, loses the original date and time of photo

I'm trying to burn some photos onto dvd, but it marks all the files 'created date' and 'modified date' as today, rather than keeping the original date and time that the picture was taken. Is there a way around this?

Looks like that error is associated with bad or incompatible media. See this thread:

  • Backup photos to DVD (Not Time Machine)

    Hi,
I am running Time Machine and backing up locally. What I am interested in doing is backing up my photos to DVDs and storing the DVDs off site. Is there any easy & free way to do that? I know I can make a burn folder and do it by hand. What I am looking for is a tool that I can choose a folder and select copy and it will automagically span the DVDs.
    Thanks

    Hi K J
If you have the images in iPhoto and select the album, and from the menu Share, select Burn, you can put them onto a DVD that way. I don't know if that is sufficiently automagical enough for you but that seems pretty direct to me.

  • I can not export photos onto DVD. After I click export, close iPhoto, click Finder, At this point I can't find the file to burn. (copy to be used on Windows) Sorry for the lame question....new to mac

So it sounds like you are trying to burn a DVD with photos on it so the photos can be either transferred to or displayed on a Windows PC, is that correct?
For the purposes of this I am going to assume you are using iPhoto '11.
Gather the photos you want to burn to DVD in one album in iPhoto. This is not absolutely necessary but it sure makes things easier for me.
Select that album, then go to the File menu and select Export...
In the dialog that shows up, select the File Export tab. Select the setting you want to use for export. Click the Export button.
Another dialog will show up. Set the location to Desktop and click the New Folder button. Name the folder something nice and descriptive and click the Create button.
Click the OK button. Quit iPhoto as the rest of this work will be done in the Finder.
You will now have a folder on your desktop with that nice descriptive name. Find it and select it. Go to the File menu and from it select Burn "Descriptive folder name" to Disc...
Insert a blank DVD when prompted.
Let the finder complete the work and eject the disc afterwards.
    That's it. Best of luck.

  • I was using Live Quartz on my MBP to stamp name/date on photos... those photos onto DVDs or USBs for trade magazines to use

the end result was I would have one photo of a cow labeled  right next to the same photo unlabeled for a catalogue. I'd burn those photos onto DVDs or USBs for trade magazines to use in their publications. Now all of the sudden I can't do it.  Sent an email to LiveQuartz but haven't heard back.   What's another simple way I can do this-- one or two steps max?  Already tried Preview, but it won't keep the duplicate --- it annotates the original .

  • After burning photos to DVD Keywords are lost or mixed up

    Hello,
I burned many a photo to DVD last night and today I checked the DVD only to find most of the Keywords I assigned were now non existent except for a large group that should have read "Self Portraits" but now reads "House".
are my keywords gone and scrambled?

    Hi Warriorant,
this is a current bug. Hopefully iPhoto 6 will fix this problem.
Are the keywords in the library that iPhoto opens still correct?

  • Saving photos to DVD ROM with iMovie

If I create a slide show with iDVD, I can set up an option (in preferences) to "always save slide show photos to DVD ROM". With this option selected, when I write a DVD, the photos are writen to a directory along with creation of VIDEO_TS files etc.
I like this option, since it gives me a way of storing the JPEG along with the same slide Show DVD. So at a later date if I want a single JPEG, I can get it from the same DVD as the slide show.
I want to use iMovie to create a slide show, since I want to put animated titles, various transitions between slides, and Ken Burns effect etc. But if I create an iMovie, is there a way to store the JPEG to the same DVD in a directory? I do not see any option, I am willing to take the iMovie to iDVD to get it done, even with this, I do not know how to save the JPEG to the same DVD-ROM.
Can some one help me with this.
    Thanks,

there's no single-click option, but you have an option...
in iPhoto, create an album with your pics (we need that later in iM...)
"export"/share this album to a new folder on your harddrive (don't forget where...)
create your iM project, using that album
when finished, create new iDVD project, use your iM project...
when finished, in "expert" (<< english nomenclatura? the menu option between Project and Windows...) you can choose "dvd rom content"
in that dialog, choose your exported folder with pics to add it as pic.files ...
    done.

  • Always add original slideshow photos to DVD-ROM

The option "Always add original slideshow photos to DVD-ROM" appears in preferences. What does it do? I should know but cannot find it in the help pages.

  • RE: Adding original slideshow photos to DVD-ROM option.

I want to be able to burn/save a slideshow .TS file or burn a slideshow DVD using iDVD and I want to be able to add original slideshow photos to the DVD-ROM using iDVD's "always add original slideshow photos to DVD-ROM". I also want to use Ken Burns pan/zoom effects which iDVD doesn't have as an option. I have been able to makeup my slideshow in iPhoto with Ken Burn effects and then send it to iDVD and retain the Ken Burn effects. However, when I do that, then I lose the ability of using iDVD's "always add original slideshow photos to DVD-ROM" option. Is there anyway to do/have both options retained in iDVD, Ken Burns effects and always add original slideshow photos to DVD-ROM using iDVD? If not, does any know if it is possible to do this using DVD Studio Pro?

then I lose the ability of using iDVD's "always
add original slideshow photos to DVD-ROM"
    option.
Yes but all you lose is the "automatic/always" part,
you can add them yourself to the DVD ROM portion.
Under the "Advanced" menu in iDVD, you will see "Edit
DVD ROM Contents." Then create a new folder in the
window that opens, and you can drag photos from
albums (but not slideshows) into the DVD ROM
    portion.

  • So if Aperture does not provide the ability to burn photos to dvd/cd how do you go about doing that?

So if Aperture does not provide the ability to burn photos to dvd/cd how do you go about doing that?

Simply mount a disc in the drive, then in Aperture Export your versions to that location.  Later in the Finder, Burn.  No need for special function.

  • Backup Photos Spanning DVDs

Here's what I'd like to do:
Select my entire iPhoto Library ->Choose Share>Burn->Have iPhoto start burning my photos to DVDs->Have iPhoto prompt me when the first DVD is full to insert a new DVD-> Repeat until all photos are archived.
This works in iTunes, but we know that iPhoto doesn't work this way. It's non-trivial to try to select just the number of photos that will fit on a DVD, and to then select another batch for another DVD. Smart Albums don't have an option (that I've found, anyway) to limit themselves by size (as you can in a Smart Playlist in iTunes).
So, what are my options? Thanks in advance!

    Ryk
What's not clear to me from your post is what you are trying to back up:
    1. If it's the Library, then the Share -> Burn route is the way to go. This includes all your organisation, albums, keywords, books etc.
I would rather find a solution that allows me to burn just the image files, either unsorted or sorted into files by date.
Suggests that you don't want to back up the Library, just the Photos. If that's the case, then simply select the Events in the Finder and export them to Folders on the desktop. Then burn those with the Finder (or any burning app you prefer). The advantage of this is that there are no ancillary files, no other versions, so it's very easy to calculate the size of the burn folders.
There are back up solutions that will span disks for you: here's one:

but there are others. Search on MacUpdate

  • Including Photos on DVD

I've used iPhoto to create a slideshow will serve as the main content in iDVD. I would also like to have folder on this DVD that contains all the full resolution photos from the slideshow in a folder called something like PHOTOS (and possibly with subfolders) at the same level as VIDEO_TS or elsewhere if deemed necessary. This would allow anyone who has the DVD the ability to use the full resolution photos outside of the slideshow for printing, e-mailing, etc. Is this possible to set up and include content of this type before the DVD is burned in iDVD? Any assistance on this is genuinely appreciated. TIA

You need to add the photos as DVD-ROM file so that the viewer can download the photos when the disk is put into a computer. From iDVD Help:
+You can let viewers copy files directly from your DVD by adding the files to the DVD-ROM portion of the disc. These files are burned onto the DVD and are accessible when the disc is viewed on either a Windows PC or a Macintosh computer, but not a DVD player.+
+You can add any kind of file to the disc. For example, if your disc contains a slideshow, you can add the image files to the DVD-ROM portion of the disc so viewers can download them to their own computers and print them. You can also add a file containing your movie production notes and other “extras.”+
+To manually add files to the DVD-ROM part of your disc:+
    +Choose Advanced > Edit DVD-ROM Contents.+
    +The DVD-ROM Contents window opens.+
+Click Add Files, or click New Folder first if you want to create a folder to put the files in.+
+Browse to select your files or folders, then click Open to add them to the disc.+
+You can also drag files directly to the DVD-ROM Contents window. When you are done, just close the window.+
+When you add a file to the DVD-ROM portion of your disc, before you burn the disc the project contains just a reference to the location of the file on your hard disk, not the actual file. So if you delete a file from your computer or move it from its location after adding it to the DVD-ROM contents, you get a “File not found” message when you try to burn your disc. You can either remove these missing files from the DVD-ROM contents or find them on your computer and put them back in the original location so iDVD can access them.+
+As you add files to the DVD-ROM contents, be sure to check the DVD Capacity meter in the Project Info window to find out how many gigabytes of disc space are being used. The Capacity meter shows the disc space taken up by the video portion of the disc as well as the DVD-ROM portion.+
Post back if this is not addressing what you want to do.

  • Problem with photos on dvd output

Not sure where the kink is in my process, exactly, but maybe someone will have run into this before...
i'm working with hi-res photos in my FCP sequences mixed with HDV video. I've been using the motion tab to resize and everything looks fine in final cut. When i use compressor to output the m2v file using the standard dvd presets, some of the stills have problems on the resulting file. not all of them look bad and it doesn't seem to be discriminating based on resolution of the original image file. I'm sure there's a good explanation, but the photos that get messed up seem to be random. some look great.
In the .m2v file played directly off of QT, they sort of just look darker, like perhaps they are interlaced strangely or something and the even or odd rows are black. but when i use that file to burn a dvd in dvd studio pro, the resulting image looks crazy messed up. Anyone know how to wrangle this one? Thanks

In case someone else runs into this problem, i did some extensive chatting with a final cut guru guy and all we could figure out is that i'm experiencing some sort of bug. that it shouldn't have been doing what it was doing. It started happening after my boss upgraded all of the studio software and quicktime to the latest versions. upon closer inspection, what was happening is that some of my photos were missing fields when exported as a qt, some weird byproduct of interlacing. we tried the settings all sorts of different ways and the problem did, indeed, go away when i changed the sequence to progressive, but i didn't want to sacrifice resolution of the rest of the footage just because of the problem with the few photos that were janky, so i found two workarounds that fixed the problem...
    1) using the de-interlace effect on just the photos that were giving me problems. it lowered the resolution, but not enough to make a difference and it looked good.
    2) using the motion blur effect. This filled in the missing fields and i did it at such an unnoticeable setting that it might have even looked better than the pictures i de-interlaced.
If this jogs someone's brain as to what the actual problem was in the first place and you think it's not just a bug in the system, then i'd be interested to hear how to avoid the problem in the future.
