Photos on ios 8

I used to take pics via my iPhone and once they were saved in iCloud, then I used to delete the pics from camera roll in ios 7...
But now after upgrading to ios 8 as we all know that camera roll has disappeared..... So now how do I delete pics from camera roll but not from iCloud????
Thanks in advance :-)

The only way to identify a photo stream photo is to open it, and tap the share icon (box with upward pointing arrow) and see if there is a Save Image option.  If there is, it's a photo stream photo.  The good news is that Apple has announced that it is bringing back the camera roll album in iOS 8.1, which is supposed to be released Monday (Oct. 20th).

If you didn't backup or at the very least import your pics how you do expect to restore them back?

  • How do I retrieve lost photos after iOS 5 upgrade?

How do I retrieve lost photos after iOS 5 upgrade? I have never sync'd it to iTunes or iPhone.

All apps on the iPad should be in the iTunes library with iTunes on the computer the iPad is synced with.

  • HT204570 How can I see my photos in iOS organized by the faces I've identified on the Mac?  All of my devices are using the iCloud Photo Library.

I want to be able to view my photos in iOS according to the faces I've identified in them on the Mac, but I can't seem to figure out how.  Any suggestions?

On iOS, in the Photos app, use the search functionality (the magnifying glass, top right).  Once you click on the magnifying glass - you may need to wait a moment or two - you will see a list of suggested or recent searches.  You can type in a face name instead.  The results from the search will be all pics tagged with that name.
You may have an issue with not all tagged pictures appearing in the search results, however.  Initially all appeared for me, but they no longer do.  There appears to be some issue with the reindexing of my picture data in the cloud - the search still returns folder names for folders which don't exist anymore.  Hopefully you won't have that to content with.

  • Photos in iOS show location, not title

After syncing my iPod Touch (iOS 8.3) with my MacBook (Yosemite 10.10.3), all the photos on my iPod Touch now show the location and date taken, but not the title - even though the photos do have titles in Photos 1.0 on my MacBook.   Is there some way to get my iOS Photos to display titles?

I want the title to appear - the same title that has been applied to Photos OS X on my MacBook.
Photos in iOS cannot display titles. That's why it only displays the location and the date.   I linked to the Migrating from iPhoto for iOS to Photos on iOS 8 - Apple Support document, because it lists what Photos iOS cannot display. And titles and captions are one of the items. You cannot add titles or captions in Photos on iOS,  and so they are not displayed.

You are not speaking to Apple here. So none of us can "fix it."
TRy try quitting the Photos app followed by a reset of the ipad. To quit an app double click the Home button to reveal the row of recently used apps. Flick up on the page preview and it will fly away and disappear. That quits the app. Then Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

  • Why can't I make some photos in iOS 8 a favorite?

I recently migrated from an iPhone 5s to a 6, and thus to iOS 8.
I really miss my iPhone camera roll, which contained an odd collection of pics important to me.
Although I can find them scattered through Photos in iOS 8, some of them do not have the "heart" option to add the photo to Favorites. Why?
I've been trying to recreate my old camera roll in Favorites.

What version of iphoto do you have? The general answer to deleting photos in iphoto is to select a photo in an event, press teh delete key and empty the iPhoto trash and teh System trash
However deleting photo is probably not going to resolve a disk space issue - how much free disk space do you have?  Ususlly deleting a few (or even a lot of) photos is not enough to help
you probablly need to get an externaldrive and move your photos and music to it
    to move our photos
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • How to hide albums or photos in IOS 8 ?!

For photos go to the photo you want to hide, tap and hold the photo and you will see the option to hide it. There is not an option to hide an entire photo album.

  • IPhoto vs Photos in iOS 8

I am trying to regain some storage on my 16Gig iPad Mini.
I have many pictures in photos I want to delete. However, when I choose "select" and choose photos to delete, the "trash can" is greyed out. I can't figure out how to get rid of these old photos that I have backed up on my computer.
I thought, "Maybe I can delete them in iPhoto?" However, when I tried to open iPhoto, I get the message, "iPhoto is no longer supported in iOS 8. Migrate photos to 'Photos?'"
Should I "migrate" my iPhoto photos to "Photos?" Will I be able to delete them?

If you want to be able to access the photos from iPhoto, migrate. iPhoto is now obsolete and you cannot use it any longer.
But read this first:  Migrating from iPhoto for iOS to Photos on iOS 8
And also:  Get help finding your Photos in iOS 8
A common reason for being unable to delete photos from your iPhone might be, that the photos have been synced to the device using iTunes. To remove synced photos from iOS devices, simply san again with iTunes, but deselect all events and albums in iPhoto, see this link:
    iOS: Syncing photos using iTunes

  • Photos in IOS 7 display incorrectly

Photos in IOS 7 on ipad 2 are randomly cut off. Some photos (always the same, but unpredictable which) display slightly zoomed in only and fill the entire screen. When I press the Edit button, they shrink to their correct display (fitting the entire image on the screen); when I cancel Edit, they spring back to the slightly zoomed-in view where important detail at the edges is cropped. This makes the ipad USELESS FOR SERIOUS IMAGE PRESENTATION.

I'm not having that problem on iOS 7.
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
If these don't work try Settings > General > Resert > Reset All Settings.
If all else fails try restoring your iPad with iTunes on your computer.

  • Top photo in iOS 8 folders?

The top photo changed somewhat arbitrarily when I upgraded to iOS 8 and remains that way on my iPhone 6.
IS there any way to manually choose the photo that displays as the folder icon?

Apple what is this terrible thing? It's about compressing photos in IOS 8. When im saved a photo to my PHOTO app and then "Set as the wallpaper" it looks terrible.
Something is wrong with your phone/OS.
This is not something that it does.
    Reset your iPhone.
Press & hold both Home & Power until you see the Apple logo.

Help! I used to upload photos via ios and it was always published up to my 5th photos, but on the 6th, it just go to ios photos album and was not published on my fb's timeline...

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
    Regards
    TD

yeah, in itunes if you select your phone, you should get tabs across the top for what to sync, under photos uncheck the box

  • Photos for iOS: How can i sort all of my albums automatically in alphabetical order

    Hey there,
first off, why isn't there a a community for the new Photos app?
    Anyway, here is my problem:
How can i sort my albums on the new Photos app on iOS?
I think it's not possible at the moment.
I am using the iCloud Photo library and uploadet all of my 15.000 photos from the last 15 years.
And because of that, i now have many many albums on Photos now.
Overall i love the new app and i love the iCloud Photo library, but i cannot sort my albums on the iOS app automatically in alphabetical order.
I can sort albums manual, but who wants that, when you have so many of them???
I have Photos on my Mac too and there i am able to do sort them in alphabetical order. But it is not adopted to iOS or the iCloud Web-App.
Because of that, i have a complete picture chaos on my iPhone and when i am looking for this one pic in that one album it takes me forever to find it.
So please Apple, fix this and we all can live happily ever after!
    Thank you!

Moments in Photo are the new Events.  T
here's a way to simulate events in Photos.
When the library was first migrated there was a folder created titled iPhoto Events and all migrated iPhoto Events are represented by an album in the folder. To open the sidebar if it's not open use the Option+Command+S key combination.
When new photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File ➙ New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N.  Name it as desired.  It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the iPhoto Events folder
When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window showing all of the albums.
The downside to this simulation is that the Album/Events can only be sorted automatically by Title while viewed in the Folder in the main window or in the sidebar. But they can be sorted manually.
Ask Apple for more sorting options in Photos via https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html.
