Photos on my iMac and iCloud

I have a few questions about photos and iCloud: (1) is it possible to view the photos on my iMac (taken before iCloud) on another device (a PC, my iPhone)?  If so, how? (2) some photos downloaded on the iMac are not showing up on my iPhone photo stream
Thanks in advance for your answers!

(1) is it possible to view the photos on my iMac (taken before iCloud) on another device (a PC, my iPhone)?  If so, how?
Follow the instructions for setting up iCloud on all your devices including computers here >  Apple - iCloud - Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices
(2) some photos downloaded on the iMac are not showing up on my iPhone photo stream
On the iMac, open System Preferences > iCloud. Make sure Photo Stream is selected.

My iPad camera photos will wirelessly sync with my iMac and iCLoud photo stream, but the videos do not, is USB connection the only way to transfer videos or is there also a wireless method?

Videos are not included with the Photo Stream. Photo Stream is for photos only.
There is not a wireless method for importing videos from the iPad's Camera Roll.

  • Can't share photos to my iMac via iCloud

I am trying to share photos on iPad mini #1 to an iMac.
I am able to share from the mini #1 to mini #2, an iPhone, and to a MacBook Air. The one thing I can't do is get the photos shared to show up on the iMac.
When I share from mini #1 to the iMac, I get an email telling me that the mini wants to share photos. When I click on Subscribe in the email, I get a message saying
"iCloud Photo Sharing is not available for this device."
"To subscribe you need to be signed in to iCloud on:
an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 6 or later, or
a Mac with OS X 10.8.2 or later and iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later"
My system meets these requirements: The iMac has OS X Yosemite 10.10 and iPhoto 9.6.
The folder that is being shared from mini #1 appears in the iMac iPhoto>iCloud>Family and Friends' Streams, but it has no photos in it.
I have Photo Sharing signed on in iPhoto Preferences and in iMac System Preferences>iCloud>Photos>Options
The MacBook Air is running Mavericks, OS 10.9.4.
Could the problem be Yosemite is setting up the shared folder in iPhoto but not displaying the photos? It's working in Mavericks.
    Thanks

Shows are not downloaded from icloud, they come from the itunes store.

  • Getting someone's notes and photo on my iphone and icloud

im having problem with my iphone 5s and icloud, i keep on getting unknown notes and photo of someone i don't even know. my iphone 5s is my first and only ios devices and i only have 1 icloud/apple ID as well(created after i bought my iphone), which is why its weird that i keep on getting unknown notes and photo of someone even though i've already change my icloud password 3 thrice. im worried that if im getting their notes and photo that they could also see or receive my notes and photo as well. i've already read some post about similar issue but most of there problem was they have other ios device that they lost/sold with there apple ID/icloud still on the device, which in my case i don't have any other ios devices. i also have my photo sharing disabled on my setting. i hope someone encountered this same issue and help me fix it. Thanks!

  • TS3992 Is it possible to backup documents and photos from my imac to iCloud?

I thought it was possible to backup data to the icloud services previously but I can't see how to do this. Is it really only designed for backup of iOS devices and not from a mac? Thanks

It will only back up data on iOS devices, not computers.  If you want a cloud-based service to back up files and photos you might consider a service like Dropbox, Google Drive, Skydrive, etc.

  • Two iMacs and icloud?

I am going to be helping a friend out by working out how to back up his mac mini server to the icloud or to some other cloud service. He has along side the mini server a iMac 27 which he uses for this design work ( backed up onto the mini). Also he has an iMac 24 at home which connects to the mini via a VPN but is wanting to use a cloud technology so that if he works on a indesign document at work he can continue it at home without the use of hard drives, flashy sticks etc. The icloud  seems to only deal with iWork document and photos, any possiblibly that it will take many Gigs of project work (photoshop, illustrator).
If not then what will another solution be?
    Thanks
    Phil

Check system preferences and see if you are signed in to MobileMe on the mini.

  • Photo Folders on iPhone and iCloud

    Hello,
I have my photos on my PC arranged by years in folders and sub-folders and I want to have them on my phone the exact same way AND have them saved to iCloud.  I spoke to tech support and they say this cant be done.  I would like to know if I can email or contact someone from Apple to add this feature.
If I DO NOT have iCloud Photo Library (Beta) or My Photo Stream checked I can then use iTunes to copy the folders exactly as they are on my PC to the iPhone but with this method I cannot save them to iCloud (unless someone has found a way)
I guess I am wanting them in iCloud so they will synch across my devices, otherwise I have to connect each devic
If I check iCloud Photo Library or My Photo Stream all the photos in the individual folders disappear and the go to to SINGLE photo file and its just to hard to
find photos searching through my thousands of photos

You can submit request for new feature at apple.com/feedback.
They will or will not integrate it depending on their decision.
Please on my behalf also submit that I would like my next phone to fly me to work, my toyota is getting old.
I keep asking, but they never do.

  • Same photos between iPhoto library and iCloud. Detected as duplicated wrongly

I use Gemini to clear duplicate photos in iPhoto library, it works well on my macbook pro, however when i run Gemini on my another mac, it found my photos in iPhoto library are duplicate with iCloud, which is wrong, and it cleans all pics in my iCloud(photo stream and shared photo).
I have the same settings in two macs, as well the Gemini.

I agree wholeheartedly  with léonie.  Uninstall Gemini and try another duplicate finder.
These applications will identify and help remove duplicate photos from an iPhoto Library:
    iPhoto Library Manager - $29.95
Duplicate Annihilator - $7.95 - only app able to detect duplicate thumbnail files or faces files when an iPhoto 8 or earlier library has been imported into another.
PhotoSweeper - $9.95 - This app can search by comparing the image's bitmaps or histograms thus finding duplicates with different file names and dates.
DeCloner - $19.95 - can find duplicates in iPhoto Libraries or in folders on the HD.
DupliFinder - $7 - shows which events the photos are in.
iPhoto AppleScript to Remove Duplicates - Free
PhotoDedupo - $4.99 (App Store) -  this app has a "similar" search feature which is like PhotoSweeper's bitmap comparison.  It found all duplicates
Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto - free - was able to recognize the duplicated HDR and normal files from an iPhone shooting in HDR
Some users have reported that PhotoSweeper did the best in finding all of the dups in their library: iphoto has duplicated many photos, how...: Apple Support Communities.
If you have an iPhone and have it set to keep the normal photo when shooting HDR photos the two image files that are created will be duplicates in a manner of speaking (same image) but there are only twp apps that detected the iPhone HDR and normal photos as being duplicates:  PhotoSweeper and Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto.  None of the other apps detected those two files as being duplicates as they look for file name as well as other attributes and the two files from the iPhone have different file names.
iPLM, however, is the best all around iPhoto utility as it can do so much more than just find duplicates.  IMO it's a must have tool if using iPhoto.

  • Sharing Photo Books between iMac and MacBook Pro

    Hello!
We created a photo book on iLife 09 on the MacBook Pro and wanted now to use parts of that layout in a new photo book we are creating on the iMac. I opened sharing preferences and opted to share that book, but on the iMac, I only have the photos from the photo book, and not the layout.
Is it possible to share the book including layout between the two computers using a network?
    Thanks for your help

Is it possible to share the book including layout between the two computers using a network?
No. The only way to get a book from one Mac to another is to copy the entire library and run that library on the other Mac. You can't move layouts between libraries, only photos as you've already discovered.
Send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

  • Icloud photos is not enabled  AND iCloud has stopped responding

I recently upgraded my iPad mini with the 8.1 as suggested/  Since then I have been having problems with my iPad and HP pc communicating.  I am mostly concerned with the pictures.
At first there was not enough storage for the upgrade, I corrected this an deleted applications and other unnecessary documents that I no longer needed or did not use.  It was eventually  successful downloading.   Things seemed to be working ok until I wanted view some pictures on my pc that had recently been shared with my by my son, specifically I wanted to print them (my printer and iPad are incompatible).   I could not fond them on my pc, they had not "downloaded" as it had previously.
I have tried to correct the problem to no avail.  I have even gone so  far as to remove and reinstall iCloud to my pc without success. I am at a loss as to what needs to be done.

Thanks for your reply, however I should have been better about explaining what my issue is, I apologize.  I hope this explanation works:
I received an update  in my "App Store" for iOS 8, I believe.  When I attempted to update, it advised that there was not enough storage,( however there was plenty avail as had just renewed my iTunes Match storage for the next year.)   I tried to get it to work for about 5 days and finally "closed" and or "deleted" unused apps to try to gain additional storage that the update was telling me that I needed.  Finally after 6-7 applications were "deleted" I was able to get the application to "update" and since then I have not been able to "sync" my photos between my iPad Mini and my Window PC.
I also just realized that all of the music that I have loaded onto iTunes via purchase from iTunes app AND uploaded from my pc have to be re-loaded to play (there is a cloud symbol next to all of them, with the exception of the ones that have "re-loaded" and played).
I hope this description makes sense.
Thank you in advance for any and all help you can provide.

  • How do I get Photo Stream to only import photos from my phone and not push photos to my phone.

    Hi
Just purchased an Imac (first time mac user) and imported all my photos from my PC.  I have been using photo stream on my phone and ipad and like it.  The problem is, as far as I can tell, that I have added thousands of photos to the Imac and it now consider those to be new additions.  It is sharing those photos to my phone and Ipad and filling both up very quickly.  Is there a way that I can only stream photos from the phone to Iphoto on my imac and not from the imac to the phone?  I realize that in 30 days, this should correct itself, but for the time being it is a huge hassle.  Im sure there is some setting in iphoto that will alleviate my problem

    If you have a mac....
    launch iPhoto
click the word "iPhoto" beside the apple, and select "preferences / photo stream"
    what synces, is listed here
uncheck what you desire, and simply close iPhoto.  It will save the changes
    Also......
Click the apple / system prefences / iCloud - if you wish to stop "photo stream" completely, you can uncheck it here.

  • I have used my iphone to take a few pictures, I would like to get them on my imac and off of my phone.  How do I do that?

I have ussed my iPhone to take some photos, how do I move the photos to my iMac and get rid of them on the phone?

As the manual explains, you should be importing these pics regularly as you would from any digital camera.

  • IPhoto 08 Problems: Crashes on new iMac and library pix now out of focus

I updated my Intel MacBook and all seems OK so far using the iLife 08 Family Pack I bought.
On a new Intel iMac iPhoto 08 crashes frequently and library pix appear to have lost sharpness/focus. Obviously, the user for this iMac is not happy.
    1. Is the new "package" iPhoto file protocol responsible for this?
    2. If so, can anything be done?
    3. Would downgrading to previous version of iPhoto work if I exported all photos on that iMac and imported them into the previous version?

    Richard_RP
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
How did you go about the Upgrade of the library? Can you give us any details abot when the crashes happen? On opening? On Editing? Randomly?
    Some basic troubleshooting:
    Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
    2. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the home / library / preferences folder. You'll need to reset your User options afterwards.
    3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.
No the new Package protocol has nothing to do with this.
    Yes, downgrading would work.
