Photos on new Apple TV: Only Slideshows?

will we be able to present photos step by step and zoom in to single ones, or are we limited to preset slideshows?

It's hard to tell exactly what it will do, but it's clear from the the information provided by  that the single photo viewing option remains intact. Zooming isn't a feature of the current tv, so it would need to be something new and I'm not sure how it could be implemented with the current remote options, so I'm inclined to think it won't become a new feature, but who knows.
Whether photos will become streamable via airplay is another dark corridor. There doesn't seem anything currently suggests anything outside of iTunes will benefit from airplay and as photos on the iPad are not related to itunes then I can't really be sure.
Speculatively, I'm thinking photos may well be able to be streamed from the iPad and there are a couple of things that might support this. Firstly, it's simply a good and obvious feature, but also I note the tv supports M-JPEG which the iPad also does, I believe this support is for cameras connected to the iPad as many of them now record clips in this format. Whilst these are video clips, they are managed inside photos on the iPad and not movies, if the iPad can stream these clips I would think they can also stream the photos. Then there's the iPhone of course which can take pictures, I think it would be an oversight of some magnitude if you couldn't use airplay to show the pictures you've just taken on your phone on the tv.
But to be sure I think we need to wait and see.

How should I move to a new Apple ID?

Hey everyone!
With lots of problems with my new iPhone 4s, studying Apple's devices and services such as Apple ID and iCloud,
it's time for me to create new Apple ID. I have made a lot of mistakes... New Apple ID! :)
So here's my question:
How to move to new Apple ID (which isn't created yet) properly?
I mean, how to save everything which I can save from my actual/old Apple ID? (And transfer/move to a new one?)
Apps, Songs, SMSs, iMessages, Calls History, Calendar, Contacts, PHOTOS, VIDEOS, apps' and games' data, Game Center account, Notifications, Notes, Passbook, Mail, Safari History and Bookmarks, Mail, FaceTime, Dictaphone's recordings, iMessages account and everything that I didn't write...?
(Like for example accounts which are using my Apple ID [such as Apple Discussions Account])?
+I want to change Apple ID, because I have downloaded apps from few iTunes Stores (Poland, U.S., Germany, Japan) and it is all messed up...
Also, should I completely restart my iPhone (like, to 'activate your device' window) or just log out from my old/actual Apple ID and log in to new one in iTunes Store on iPhone?
Maybe there's a different way to untie my apps and other purchases from my Apple ID? (For example turning off iCloud?)
Sorry for not meshing it a little, I am really bad at it :(

Okay, so I can create new Apple ID and act like it is my first, but I can use the same email on my new Apple ID only after changing it on the old ID? I get it.
Now, how to delete every important data or accounts on that old Apple ID to know it can be gone forever, without any consequences for my iPhone/new Apple ID? (I want to break up with it, like it never even existed)
By that I mean: turn off iCloud or delete all my data stored in iCloud, delete game data and account in Game Center to use Game Center on the new Apple ID, things like that (Get rid of old ID forever and delete all it's data from iCloud, iTunes, or smth...)
What should I do to go to 'Activate your phone' screen (start everything from beginning)?
Also, isn't there any way to not lose all stuff (except for apps, music) which I have written before?
SMS, iMessage messages, PHOTOS, VIDEOS, Dictaphone recordings, etc.?
Or is it possible to have it all on the computer and transfer them later back to iPhone, on the new ID?

does anyone know if the new apple tv can stream existing iphoto slideshows as they appear in iphoto? the old one sort of did for a while then lost the feature. thanks

I'm on the road right now and only have my (gasp) windows laptop with me. I'll be back home on the weekend and I'll try to describe it then.
I'm an old iMovie fan, I bought a iMac SE partly because it came with iMovie (ver 1). My complaint is the pictures are much "softer" in iMovie and I assume that is as a result of the rendering of the still picture to video. I wouldn't mind a primer from someone on how they use iMovie to make a slideshow from photos and music to get the best possible results. My old 50" Sony TV only goes to 720P (which is the best Apple TV can provide anyway) but like I said the photos themselves look stunning but the music doesn't sync right when I use iPhoto slideshow on apple TV.
I love the simplicity and short time needed to create a slideshow in iPhoto, and would prefer a solution using it instead of iMovie.
Any and all tips hints are welcome.

In the photos app I have 2 camera rolls and 1 photo gallery. Each new photo that I take gets stored in one of the camera rolls, but when I back up the photos to my computer it only backs up the one camera roll, and not any of the new picks. Please help

Try:

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Can photos stored in the new Apple Photos be quickly transferred to Lightroom? I am not at all happy with this new apple "fix".

Loaded and organized over 1000 photos into the new Apple Photos. It has virtually no editing capabilities and will not export directly to Photoshop. Can Lightroom import the files directly or do I have to start from scratch? Help! I have another 3000 to add and do not want the hassle of the new Apple "fix." Help?

If you want to maintain that workflow, thats fine, it makes sense to you and I can see an advantage. Personally I use both programs but for different content, never the same images.
To save you a step you could set up a watch folder in Lightroom and export your images from iPhoto/Photos into that. Although it occurs to me that if all you are wanting is to use the Develop Module then skip Lightroom altogether and simply use Adobe Camera Raw via Photoshop/Bridge. Lightroom is a catalog primarily and so is Photos. Mixing the two on same images is asking for problems.
Having said that, if you only have the perpetual license for Lightroom and don't own Photoshop, you don't have much choice.

Yes, except photos will only transfer to the same device. For example, you could not restore an iPhone from the backup of an iPad and have photos transfer; it would need to be another iPad. Other restrictions for "cross-device" restores include:
When restoring from an iPhone or iPod touch backup to an iPad (or vice versa), only third-party apps and their data will be restored. Icon order will not be restored.
Apps that are not compatible with the device you are restoring to will not be restored, for example, iPad-only apps will not be restored to an iPhone.

It's do-able, but I don't think it's a great idea.
DVI
Some users with DVI have managed to get their TV's to work with DVI-HDMI cables. DVI carries no audio, so alternative connections need to be explored to enable audio. DVI doesn't necessarily support HDCP as well as other standards used by HDMI (which may or may not be an issue)
Analogue
There are hardware converters that will convert HDMI to various other types of output, however there are some issues with doing so that you should be aware of.
HDCP
HDCP compliant converters will not allow you to watch HDCP protected content such as that from the iTunes Store. Non compliant converters exist but we cannot discuss them under the Terms of Use for these communities.
Resolution and aspect ratio
I'm not aware of any converters that will scale the output from the Apple TV, any TV or projector which is used will need to be widescreen and support resolutions of 720p (Apple TV 2), 720p/1080p (Apple TV 3)

this is a Family Sharing question. After we upgraded to family sharing, and I now have a new apple id, I find that all the documents on my iPad in pages, are only accessible if i sign in with the original apple id- now my husband's ( he is the primary account holder). Is there an easy way to migrate these documents to my iCloud account, or do i need to email them to myself . There are a couple of hundred documents.

No. I have tried twice. When I turn off pages in the iCloud settings while logged into his account, then my documents in pages just are gone. They return when I turn it back on.

My apple TV works with my new apple ID but I can't turn on home sharing because for that it is asking me to turn it on with an old Verizon apple ID on my computer. I have the new ID on my computer so it is only the apple tv home sharing that is wrong.

For home sharing purposes only, my Apple TV does not recognize my new apple ID username and password. The on screen message calls for me to use my computer to

home sharing is not set on the appletv but on the itunes program on the computer which lib one wish to share
the home share password need not be the appleID password as homeshare is also meant to share your media with others on your LAN network whom you may not wish to know your appleID password
so home sharing password is set seperately in ituens on your computer

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
