Photos print as black box

A weird anomaly is occurring.  If I print a document from Microsoft Word to the HP OfficeJet 7210 and the document contains graphics (jpg), the area where the graphic is comes out totally black.  If I print the same document from WordPerfect to the OJ7210 it prints fine, with the graphic printing perfectly.  If I print from Microsoft Word the same document to my laser printer the graphic prints fine.  There is a problem printing a document with jpg graphics from Microsoft Word to the OJ7210.
Anyone seen this before?  Any solution?
Gary

Printing is usually application/printer specific. In the 'Print' dialog box, there is a button that expands the whole dialog (blue box with a down arrow.) Click that (if it isn't already showing the preview of the printed page on the left and other settings on the right.
Make sure you have a printer selected, then, on the right side of the dialog, there should be options for copies, pages, etc. and a dropdown selection that shows the application that you are trying to print from. Click this application dropdown and select 'Paper Type/Quality'. Once that is selected, you should see an option for 'Color' and a dropdown beside it. Select 'Grayscale'.
Hope that works for you.

  • Smartform prints out  Black boxes instead of Shade

    Hello Experts,
I have developed some smartforms which have some boxes that are shaded with grey color for heading.
They work fine for some existing printers. But when i issue a print out on a new printer i
see that the shaded boxes are displayed as solid black boxes on the print out.
I also tried to print it in color but invain. Even the LOGO also got blacked out.
Can any one suggest me what to do.
Is it with my smartform or printer settings. Please advice.
    Thanks
    Dany

    Hi
    I don't know if u can't find out a solution.
All device output (printers) having the same divice type have the same behavior, i.e. printers having a different device type can give a different output, so if u'll correct the problem for a certain group of printers u could have a new problem for other group.
I think the best soltion is to use the printer used to test the smartforms

  • HP laser jet printing has black boxes witers

I just bought a new HP Laser Jet Pro  MFP M127fn printer.  I have an old version of PrintMaster that I have used for years to print my business cards.  When I try to use this program with the new printer, the words are all in white surrounded by a black box.  A sort of negative print effect.  If I can't solve this problem I'll have to return the printer since I use this software quite often.  I'm hoping for a simple fix.
    Thanks,
    Norm

    >> ... have to return the printer since I use this software quite often ...
But you might find that you have exactly the same problem with any replacement printer!
I'm not familiar with PrintMaster, so I don't know how integrated it is with modern (Windows?) printer drivers, or (especially with "an old version") if it doesn't use such drivers at all, but generates the print job directly.
If it does use modern drivers (i.e. a standard Print dialogue is exposed), then if you capture a sample (sanitised data) job (select the 'print to file' option in the Print dialogue), then analysis of the resultant .prn file might (but may not) yield some clues as to what is going on.
If the print job Page Description Language is PCL rather than PostScript, you can do the analysis using the PRN File Analyse tool in the PCL Paraphernalia application, available via http://www.pclparaphernalia.eu

  • Smartform printed with black boxes.

    Hi,
I created a smartform for delivery note, When i preview it looks fine.
But when i take printout this is printed with all black boxes. I am using a Black and White Printer NRG Model DSm622 PS.
I couldnt able to find the solution, please help me on this.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Mohanraj.N

    Hi,
Have you tried other standard forms on the same printer?
I don't have this printer but I found following notes, about NRG printers:
Note 1021922 - NRG: List of supported printers/device types
Note 1266115 - Printer Vendor Wizard Note: NRG
Perhaps you can check with transaction SPAD if the Formats of the Device Type of your printer has any Sapcript format. If not, try to configure it with any basis admin...

  • Acrobat 7.0 PDF Printing with Black Boxes

When I print a PDF file, areas of the document and sometimes the entire document, prints as a big box of black ink. This happens when I print a document that I've created or one that someone else has created and sent to me. This happens if I'm printing a color document or black and white document. Other documents (Word, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc) are printing fine. I checked with the printer manufacturer and they said it was an Acrobat issue.

Thanks I'm aware of that feature.
The bookmarks are there, but there aren't any pages. You have to click on the bookmark to display said page. There is a total of 30 documents (pages but we won't call them that as they are bookmarks). When you go to print you need to click on the bookmark/page you want to print, and it only recognises that page. Not the other 29 bookmarks.
My understanding/research on bookmarks indicates pages are needed. However this document is not showing that at, the bookmarks are treated as pages. As I did not create the document I wonder what the scandal is???

  • Black & White photos printing as purple

My wife was copying some historical black & white family photos.  Six or so printed fine, then one photo changed from black & white to a purpleish tone at the 90% complete phase, only the bottom edge had changed colors.  We loaded another black cartridge believing this was the cause, but to no avail.  Now all Black & White photos are printing in purple.
    Standard printing is fine.
    Copying is fine.
    Scanning is fine.
But photo printing of black & white pictures results in the copies being 100% purple toned.
    Why?
HP 6510 printer, only two onths old.

The printer uses color ink to print black when printing on photo paper because the pigmented black ink is not compatible with photo paper.  It appears you have run out of yellow ink.  I would suggest the troubleshooting steps in the document here to resolve the issue.  Be sure to check the vents on the yellow supply as shown in solution two.

  • HP6940 power interupted...now prints lots of boxes across printed page

    HPDeskjet 6940
I've owned 3 of these and love the printer but think I just scrambled the printer's motherboard!?
i was printing a 3 page Word document when i accidentally disconnected the cord between the printer and the pc. I immediately reconnected the cord.
now no mater what type of document [Word / Publisher / Excel / anything !!!] it prints the page contents but it also is printing these black boxes randomly and many of them all around on the page.
It's as if when i plugged it back in I scrambled its brain! It's out of warranty by far and other than it wanting to print these many multisized boxes all around on the page it works fine otherwise so I hate to replace it when maybe if I could no a more thorough uninstall. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times and the problem remains. so I cannot use anything it prints. Is there a way to completely "reset" the entire device to remove the "corrupted file that is causing this to occur in the printer????

    Hi monkplayer,
It looks like your problem is solved? There wasn't a problem with the printer itself, just the printer settings on your Mac?
This is good information though. We don't always have detailed solutions for customers that are using Safari, since it is hard to write instructions for the general public with specific steps for each operating system.
    Best of luck,

  • Why will my photos only print in black and white?

My computer crashed a while ago and I had to re-install my photoshop elements 6. Since then, photos will only print in black and white through elements, even though they'll print in colour through other programs on my computer. This must be a settings issue in the elements program but I can't find anything that seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi toxryan,
Thanks for taking the time to help. Issue definitely not resolved.
In Organiser there is no direct print link so I click on 'file' then 'print'. There are no relevant options in the print box - options only deal with type of printer, size of paper etc. If I try 'page setup' there are no relevant options. If I try 'more options' the only mention of colour is 'colour management' where it asks if I want print space same as the source etc.
This is driving me mad. Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Pictures printing within a Black Box from a CP1518ni

I have an HP CP1518ni Color LaserJet and while printing sell sheets that contain a lot of graphics, the product pictures are appearing within a Black Box (the normal format has the picture printing with a darkened area, but the problem is that product pictures are appearing within a second layer, black box.)    On my computer screen, this black box is not there and when i print on my inkjet, the picture print correctly.  i spoke with the creator of the sell sheets and it appears that it is a printer issue as opposed to an artwork issue.
I tried printing from a different computer and the problem still exists.  I have also updated the drivers from the website and the issue still exists.  This is not happening on just one sell sheet, it is appearing on every sell sheet that uses the same format.
Confused, frustrated and wasting expensive toner and paper...anyone have any suggestions??  Thanks!

i just bought the same printer.. and had same problem..
when you go to print... look left.. and see that you are printing "full page fax print"... it produces the black border..
choose full page  photo print...right below that...
    problem solved...
    hope it helps..

  • PDF docs prints black boxes instead of my pictures, Printing with Reader works

I have one user running the most updated version of Adobe Acrobat 9 (v9.4.5 I believe it is) and when she opens a PDF document that has pictues you can see the pictures and make changes to the document as needed.  However, when you go to print, all the images in the PDF document are all Black boxes.
Now if I open this same file in Adobe Reader (any version thus far has worked) the images are there and print preview and printing all work, the images print.  It is just in Adobe Acrobat that I have black boxes.
I would really rather not uninstall / reinstall if it can be avoided.
    thanks,
    Willie IT

  • Black box with exclamation point instead of photo

I recently switched from a PC to Mac and used a transfer cable to move my photos into iPhoto. Small thumbnails look fine, but when I open some of them all I get is a black box with an exclamation point inside a white circle. This seems to apply only to SOME of the pics that were originally SCANNED into my PC as jpeg files. Although I suspected this was how photos imported, I did try the Rebuild feather, but that didn't work. Is still have my originals on my old PC, but I'd like to get rid of it. Is there still a way I can access what's on my Mac -- or successfully import from my PC?
Thanks in advance for the assistance!

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Can't get rid of black boxes when form is printed

When I save a form to PDF there are visible black boxes around the feilds in the form. I thought these would go away once it printed but they are still there and make the form look cluttered. Any idea how to fix this?

    Hi;
There is no option in FormsCentral to modify the fields text input box borders.  You could edit the PDF in Acrobat and remove the border.  In the screen shot below I removed the border color from the top two fields, in the bottom two fields I added a fill color so you could see the input box and it doesn't just blend in with the page:
In this screen shot the form has been filled out, and this is how it would print:
If you are going to edit a FormsCentral PDF in Acrobat take a look at this FAQ first:  http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-3661

  • Black boxes appear on printing of gradients with text overlay

I am teaching a class of 25 students who are just learning InDesign. About half of them decided to put a black to white gradient as their background and then they put text over that. The text has effects applied and when these students print, the gradient prints as a shade of brown AND the "box" the original shape was in shows up as a black box. This only seems to be happening if they've applied an effect to the text [like an inner glow, etc.
How do we "turn off" that black box that shouldn't be there.
    Very frustrated teacher and students...

When you print out of InDesign transparency has to get flattened, so the Transparency Flattener preset you choose in the Print dialog's Advanced tab can have an effect on output. Try using the High Resolution preset and if that doesn't work make a preset with Raster/Vector Balance set to 0:
If the Black in the gradient is set as CMYK 0|0|0|100, set your Appearance of Blacks Preference to Output All Blacks as Rich Blacks
