Photos Received as win.dat File

I have tried to e-mail photos to myself and in many cases they arrive as win.dat files and not jpeg files.  Other times they arrive OK.  Does anyone know why this is happening?  I'm assuming it is related to file size, but I'm not sure.  Is there a file size limit?
Thanks.

Pdf arrives as win.dat files on iphone and ipad.   When i send from my pc using outlook

You are probably sending the email in rich text format with attachments (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1506)
    - either try sending it in a different format, or try one of the apps from the app store that support winmail.dat

  • How can I open win.dat files

How can I open files sent as attachments from Windows that appear as "win.dat" when they arrive. I used to use TNEF but that does not work anymore.

    Try this:

(TNEF's Enough - a good little app for this very purpose)

  • Best way to burn photos on DVD as data files?

Ok - I may be losing it, but I'm confused as to best way to burn a DVD of photo files that I just want to be photo files - not played in a slideshow, etc. Basically, I scanned 50+ photos and used them in a montage I created in Photo To Movie. But, I want to give the client two discs - one that is the TV-ready playable DVD - did that one already. Second is a DVD (or CD?) that they can put in their computer and just get the files off if they ever want to use them (since I'm charging them for scanning and retouching the vintage photos).
Can someone please let me know how to do it? All told it's about 63 photos and 80 MB according to iPhoto Album. So, do I use DVD or CD or does it matter? How do I transfer (drag and drop)? and Burn?
    Thanks -
    Alexa

    Alexa:
To burn a data disk of the photos you used in the slideshow you need to export them to a folder on the Desktop via the File->Export->File Export menu option. Select the appropriate options for exporting and export.
Then drag that folder onto a mounted blank disc and burn via the Finder. That will give you a cross platform disk of just the image files.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Mac Office 2011 receiving win.dat or blank calender invites

    Hi,
When calender invites are send to users using Mac Office 2011 from Office 2013, it is received as win.dat attachments, which turns out to be empty when opened. If send as a plain text invite, still it gets to mac users as empty. Mac users are on Mavericks
and Window users are on Windows 7. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi,
Does this issue happen to other meeting attendees? Please try to send a meeting to a user who use Office for Windows and check if this issue continues.
Do you have any virus scanner installed? A virus scanner which integrates itself with Outlook and it may cause message to go blank. Please uninstall this integration part of your virus scanner on both the sender an recipient side and try again. See:
    http://www.msoutlook.info/question/20
In addition, some users were able to fix this issue by unticking the option "When sending meeting requests outside of your organization, use the iCalendar format" under
    File > Options > Calendar > section
Calendar Options in Outlook 2013. You may have a try of this.
Please let me know the result.

  • Importing data file back into blank PDF - some data fields don't populate

I have created a writable PDF in Adobe LiveCycle 8. Once the form is completed the person filling out the form submits by email. The email is successfully received and the data file is complete (opening it in a browser verifies this). However, when I use try to import the data back into the PDF file (by opening Adobe Pro | blank form | managage form data | import data - only some of the fields are populated. I need this data to repopulate the form so I can print it and I also need to export it to Excel for other purposes. What am I doing wrong?

Check the binding on the fields that don't populate and see that it is set to something other than None.

  • TS3276 receive email with .dat attachments

I have begun receiving emails with .dat files attached from my coworkers who use Outlook. Somehow, these files replace the attached files that my coworkers intended to send and Mail doesn't seem to be able to open/process them. I would really appreciate any advice on how to overcome this as I am starting to be pressured to give up my Mac.

.DAT files is a file has arbitrary data and is not associated with any one particular program or application. When you see a file with a .XLS extension, you know it’s referring to an Excel file, and so on. But with .DAT files, you have to figure out how to open it yourself and it may not be the same program each time.
The best way to open a .DAT file is to use the program that created it.  You may want to ask the sender to send it in a different format, like .pdf.
Winmail.dat files come from those Microsoft Outlook or Exchange programs and are some sort of archive method. Somewhere in outlook they get automatically created when forwarding email messages and Mac users have long wondered what they are and how to open them. Of course Windows users have no idea what they are either and think it’s all the receivers issue when we say we never got an attachment.

Attachments I add to emails (word doc or PDFs) can not be opened by the email receivers. • E-mail are received as DAT file instad of PDF

    Hi All,
Please try to assist in this strange topic:
When I try to send an e-mail via the SBO (press on the envelope button and choose u2018yesu2019 when
the option u2018Would you like to attach an edited report to the e-mail?u2019 is display), the receiver is received a file with u2018DATu2019 extension and not with PDF extension and the receiver canu2019t open the file.
I have tried to uninstall the acrobat reader 9 and install instead Foxit 3.1, but the problem still
    persists.
In addition, I have found the this issue is reproduced only when the customer is using the Hebrew interface of SBO and the PDF file name is in Hebrew.
When I switched to English interface of SBO, then the PDF file name is in English and the file is received correct (As PDF file).
Another thing is that when you send the e-mail via the SBO (with the attached PDF) and open it
on outlook (e.g. 2007), the file is received as DAT file,
However If you open the e-mail on web mail (e.g. GMAIL), the file is received as correct PDF file, But when you send a regular e-mail (not via the SBO) with the attached PDF file and open it on outlook, the file is received As PDF file.
    Thanks,
    Erez

I am afraid that there is a syntax or some codes in the interface that make the pdf converted into DAT file. You should ask the technical consultant or someone that developed the interface to make sure about it.
If not, probably,  there is a problem with your current SAP B1 version. You could try to upgrade to the latest PL version of your current B1 application and then try again this case. if this is happened in the latest version, log a message to SAP Support.

To resolve error 0x8004010F , identify the current location of your default Outlook data file, and then create a new Outlook profile.
Step 1- Locate the default Outlook data file
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    In Control Panel, click Mail.
In the Mail Setup - Outlook dialog box, click Show Profiles.
Select your current Outlook profile, and then click Properties.
In the Mail Setup - Outlook dialog box, click Data Files.
Select the Data Files tab in the Account Settings dialog box, and then note the name and location of the default data file for your profile (a check mark will denote the default data file).
    Click Close.
Step 2 - Create a new Outlook profile
Step 3 - Configure your new Outlook profile as the default profile

The 'Winmail.dat' problem has been extensively covered in these forums, I would search for that (a Google search works well) and unfortunately I have not seen the pdf print problem before, but assuming the software is current and functions normally (other than the pdf print problem) I have no suggestion other than the obvious (but time consuming) re-installation of Office.
