+ Photos remain in wrong iPhoto list even after being moved?+
+Posted: 29-Jan-2009 16:56 +
Hi,
+Has anyone else had this problem? Any workarounds?+
+I have a number of pictures that just show up in the wrong place in Places' list view, but I cannot seem to move them. For example, a photo will show up as being in state X in city Y when it was actually taken at a "Place" in state A, city B. So I click on the photo, hit command-i, type in the name of a place in A/B, and hit done. (Pressing command-i again shows the new name and a pin in the correct place.) However, the photo still shows up when I select state X and city Y from the places browser. This persists even after restarting iPhoto.+
+Any ideas?+

+Does not seem to be an issue with the latest version of iPhoto.+
Im not sure why this has been closed as it is an issue for me as well,
eg, Trafalgar Square photos appear in the London Eye pushpin, but when checking the photos individually they are correct.
I am fully up to date with my software and this issue only appears to have raised itself on the latest version of iphoto (8.1 (415))
Removing the locations and re-adding them does not fix the issue you just end up with the same result or a different mixture of incorrect pictures in the push pins.

The best way to get assistance on the forum is to provide a clear and detailed description of the problem and report any steps you've already taken to solve the issue and anything that resulted therefrom.
Im not sure why this has been closed as it is an issue for me as well,
It's been closed because the User who had this issue found a solution. Only the person who creates the thread can close it. This person had no idea you even existed, let alone that you might have a similar issue. I'm sure if he had he'd have left it open, just waiting for you to come along.
Is not a resolving answer to the issue and appears to be a very narrow minded approach to resolving issues!
Let's see. Someone has an issue. They create a thread on the forum. They find a solution. They mark the thread as answered. This is narrow minded?

Can we remain in the same state even after clicking submit button?
Hello All,
Can we remain in the same stage even after clicking submit button? Also it should remain in the same stage only when certain conditions are met. For eg:
Condition : In Stage1, CustomFieldA default value is 'No'. To pass from Stage1 to Stage2 the CustomFieldA value should be made to yes.
Scenario 1 : CustomFieldA value is 'No', and I click on Submit .
Expected Result : should remain in the same stage
Is above result achievable in PS 2013? I am creating workflow in Visual Studio 2012, so can I handle this in the workflow?
Please help. The above answer was proved wrong, so please follow this link to get the answer.

HT1351 Why won't movie files from flip camera won't play on ipod even after being converted?
Why won't movie files from flip camera won't play on ipod even after being converted?
Try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod. -
My iPhone4 won't turn on even after being charged for 1 hour and when I plug it into my computer nothing happens. PLEASE HELP
I have a similar (if not the exact same) problem! Here are some more details if they are helpful.
My iPhone 4 died earlier today and will not turn back on. It seemed that the battery died while it was not in use. I attempted to charge it on one charging cord in multiple wall outlets and none worked. Assuming it was a malfunction in the cord, I took my phone home to try charging it there.
Again, I attempted charging it in multiple outlets with a different cord than previously used. None of these seemed to work, though they would flash the Connect to Power screen for a brief moment before returning to a black screen. I assumed that my phone was simply so depleted of battery that it needed a long charge.
I charged it for 30+ minutes without any success, then attempted to charge it through my MacBook instead of through a wall outlet. iTunes did not even recognize that my phone plugged in (and still hasn't). I've attempted charging it for an extended period of time (1+ hour) with no luck. Sometimes when I press the Power button it will flash the Connect to Power screen once more before returning to black.
The Apple logo never appears, nor does any apparent progress on charging. I have attempted holding down the Power and Home buttons simultaneously for 10 - 30 second increments. Still no luck. There is no reason anything should be happening with this phone that I can identify.
I have no warranty and just recently replaced my previous phone which had had similar problems before completely crashing. This is a phone new to me that was previously used but in almost new conditions and factory reset by Apple prior to my purchase.
Does this mean that my phone battery is dead?
Is there anything else I can do?? -
How do I make drag sources disappear after being moved to the correct drop target in Captivate 7
How do I make drag sources disappear after being moved to the correct drop target in Captivate 7
Thank you so much. I could have searched a very long time and not found that. It is counter-intuitive to me that I would set the behavior for the drag source on the properties for the drop target.

MDBs in 9.1 continue to consume JMS queues even after being deleted
<b>We have an MDB application that reads a batch message off of a JMS queue, archives it in a database, parses the batch message into individual messages and writes them onto other JMS queues to be consumed by another application. Everything was running fine in Weblogic 8.1.5. However, due to problems with XA drivers and the MSDTC(predictable SQL server crashes), we decided to upgrade to Weblogic 9.1 to take advantage of the LLR option.</b>

This would cause the queues to eventually have hundreds of consumers and cause the server to fail.
Basically, it seems as though the MDBs that are supposed to stop continue and attempt to process, while new threads connect to the JMS queues.
I tried undeploying our application and deleted it from the configuration. However there were consumers still on the respective queues and when I sent messages, I got an error indicating a "Class Not Found exception" due to the fact that the EJB was undeployed and deleted from the configuration, however the MDB component was not and continued to listen for messages. In 8.1.5, as soon as the application was undeployed, there were zero consumers on the JMS queues.
I have read the posts about a soon to be released fix that would have the MDBs connect only to the queues locally and not go out the the cluster. Would this fix my issue?
Is there something in the deployment descriptor to configure that will cause it to disconnect and now spawn so many consumers to the JMS queues?
Why is it that the number of MDB consumers on the JMS queues stayed static in 8.1.5, but they are erratic in 9.1 even after I set our 9.1 server to use the 8.1.5 execute queue policy. Help would be much appreciated.</b>I recommend contacting customer support. There's a known problem with MDBs listening to distributed destinations that are local to the same cluster as the MDB, you're problem may be related (the clue is that the stack trace contains jms.dd.DDHandler.callListeners()). The problem is that the MDB connects to all physical queues in a distributed destination rather than just the local queue.

How to get the frame position after being moved.
I created a frame, after I moved it by my mouse, how can I get the new position?
you could use getLocation() of a JFrame, maybe call it with a mouselistener or windowlistner.

Is there anythinh I can do to retrieve the pics? I uploaded from 2 SDHC cards, one of 230 pic (which I deleted from the card) and another of 1,200+ pic, which I did not delete.
a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card -- I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos
Try Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database

IPhoto crashes even after trying to rebuild iPhoto library database.
iPhoto won't open after I synced new iPhone 5s to my Mac v10.6.8. I tried holding down the Option and Command key and this forced the iPhoto library manager to open. I then ticked to rebuild Library Manager and then it crashes again. I also cannot back up my existing iphoto library as I am unable to locate it. I have checked for latest software updates and it appears to be update. My iphoto is version 7.1.5
The log for my error is below. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What you have accessed here are iPhoto's own repair tools. iPhoto Library Manager is a 3rd party application.
I also cannot back up my existing iphoto library as I am unable to locate it
By default your iPhoto Library is in your Pictures Folder.
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
Post back with the result. -
Cursor remaining in the current item even after pressing Enter-Query
We have an application running in 10g.
We are getting similar problems in three forms of the application.
In the form there are 2 datablocks which has a master-detail relationship.
After the data for the first datablock is retreived, when I click on any of the items and give enter-query, the cursor remains in the same item.
Ideally the cursor should move to the first item in the datablock after entering the enter-query mode. But it is not happening.
This is working fine in the other forms. When i give enter-query, the cursor is going back to the first item.
Only in these three forms, it is behaving differently.
Expecting a quick reply...did you check if the items in object navigator have the same order as on canvas?
in normal case the cursor goes to the first enterable item in block when entering in query mode.
as workaround you can write your own KEY-ENTQRY trigger:
ENTER_QUERY;
GO_ITEM('YOUR_BLOCK.YOUR_ITEM'); -
Iphoto crashing even after Lion reinstall
I am trying to drag files off my GoPro onto mac desktop. It is allowing me to do some, but one one file i keep getting an error saying i have ejected the device, then iphoto pops up and i cannot move the file. (file is not locked btw).
I've tried going to PREFERENCES to select iphoto to NOT open when i connect a device, but every time i click PREFERENCES it crashes.
I read on the forums that i should reinstall lion. So i have done that and it is STILL crashing upon opening, so i cannot deslect it to open every time i connect a device. I don't even use iphoto and it is driving me crazy. It always pops up when i connect my iphone as well and i want it to stop.
Anyone have any other suggestions? Surely a second Lion Install is not going to change things?
If anyone has any other advice about dragging a 3gb file off my GoPro that is 100% not locked (all the other files on it drag over easily), i'd appreciate it. To confirm i am NOT knocking the usb connection/definitely NOT accidentally ejecting the GoPro.
This all seems somehow related to iphoto given i get the "did not eject properly" error followed by error -31 and -42 when transfering this file and then iphoto opens immediately...
HELP!
THANK YOU!
p.s - i have the most up to date iphoto.Give this a go: make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder. -
Some photo's have wrong date on iPhone after importing them. Messes up 'moments' in photo's
When importing photo's from my Mac using iTunes, some of them display the incorrect date in the Moments catagory on my iPhone 5S (7.0.3). For example some photo's say 8th June 2001, when they should say 8th June 2012.
In iPhoto on my Mac these photo's orignally had the incorrect date on them, but I changed them all using Photos > Adjust Time And Date and are all fine in iPhoto.
But when I try and sync them again in iTunes, they are still displaying the incorrect date in Photos on my 5S.
Any help would be appreciatedHad the same Issue and went digging a bit deeper.
It seems that the Collection Feature doesnt grab the EXIF date correctly all the time or relies on the date created of the file directly for some reasons (not sure though).
What you can do to get this fixed:
1. select all your photos in iPhoto
2. Menu: Photos -> Adjust Date and Time
Select Modify Original Files
3. Go up for 1 Second on ALL photos
4. Sync again
5. Go down for 1 SEcond on ALL photos
6. Sync again
In my case it was indeed necessary to sync in between changing the time for 1 second. might work without for you. -
Even after being "fixed", my connection is still u...
Been with BT since late December, using infinity 2 with HH5. Live in a block of flats.
When we first got the package we were being disconnected every few hours, often several times per hour. Finally got some help from a mod on here who ran some tests and found a possible error on the copper line. BT sent out an engineer who fiddled with the cables in the ground outside, and things seemed more stable. Another engineer came out to reset the profile, and he also discovered line problems (something inside the flat's junction box or some such, in the main corridor cupboard for the block of flats). We didn't get any speed increase as hoped (in fact, we're now getting 3mb LESS upload), but the connection at least seemed more stable.
Fast forward to March, and now some of the old troubles have returned. We're not disconnected as much, but there are plenty of spells where we'll randomly get huge packet loss, which makes internet usage nearly impossible (webpages wont load or take ages to load, ping times in online gaming nose dive, NowTV app on the Xbox will keep dropping out, etc). Sometimes these spells last 5 minutes and then all is normal, while other times they'll keep returning in 5-10 minute batches until we give up and reset the HH5 (which often causes it to settle back to normal, though not always).
For what it's worth, I've not spotted any common denominator during these spells. No incoming calls, no random devices running which might interfere, no changes in browsing habits). I already disabled/fixed/changed the usual things people tell you to (the auto wireless thing in the HH settings, wireless channels, etc).
Here are some examples from PingPlotter which give you some idea of what's going on:
1. A 10 minute spell of packet loss. You can see the normal stable connection to the left and right of it.
2. Another 5 minute spell of packet loss (with a couple of red bars in showing no connection at all), and then the big red block is after we reset the HH. Note the perfectly stable connection right after.
3. One of the crazy 30 minute batches of packet loss. This one happened overnight (often we'll try to use the Internet channels via the YouView box in the morning and it'll say no connection, despite the connection being fine (at the time), and we'll have to cycle the HH yet again).
4. A wider snapshot over the course of 2 hours. Internet connection will vary wildly between working as normal and then 5 seconds later being unable to load a page, then back to normal, and so on.
5. Even wider snapshot over the course of 24 hours or so. Lord knows what was going on.
6. Snapshot taken just now. After a couple of spells of 5-10 minutes mass packet loss I spotted another one coming (15:24) and did a HH cycle (big red bar). Upon reconnection the graph shows things being pretty unstable, until finally the HH disconnected again (big red bar at 15:42) by itself. Currently it's still unstable as above. I expect another disconnection wil be forthcoming.
I'm loathe to manually reset the HH as I know that's not healthy, but if I don't do it we'll just get these spells of massive packet loss over and over again until it just disconnects itself (and it'll happen at inoppertune moments, such as during an online game, or while we're doing online banking, or while we're watching a footie match on BT Sport). I'd rather control when it disconnects myself and pick the right moment. A common war cry in our household has become "I'm resetting the hub, stop what you're doing!"
Now, I'm not some perfectionist that demands a 100% stable line 100% of the time, but frankly, while with *cough* Sky *cough*, we went for years with barely a disconnection in sight. I almost never had to manually reboot it. You'd think the supposedly superior Infinity would be at least comparable, but it's been nothing but trouble. This situation is especially annoying as Youview needs the connection for the TV channels, and we're either losing them entirely or they're breaking up at random intervals.
At some point I may have to fork out for one of those Openreach modems to see if that helps, but it shouldn't be up to the customer to fix a problem, that shouldn't really exist in the first place, by paying out of their own pocket.
Does *anyone* have any advice, here? We're locked into a million year control now so leaving isn't an option, and you'd think if there was an obvious, major problem with the line they'd have spotted it and fixed it last time. Users? Mods? Buddah? Anyone?I've contacted the mods about the problem (again). Hopefully someone will check this thread.
For reference, here's a PingPlotter graph which shows me going from wireless (18:46) to wired (18:48) and back to wireless (18:56) during one of the evening's usual bouts of nonsense.
So yes, most of the chaos is with the wireless rather than the wired. Problem is, the full hub disconnections affect everything (wireless AND wired devices). Before someone says "well change your wireless channel!" or "investigate interference!" -- two points: 1) wireless devices are absolutely perfect for 90% of the day, and 2) there are random disconnections of the hub (orange light) interspersed with the wireless problems, and sometimes completely divorced from the wireless problems. -
Pictures in iPhoto do not show up after being moved to external hard drive.
I moved an iPhoto library to an external hard drive. When I created this library I did not tick on "Copy items to the iPhoto library" when importing. I wanted to keep the pictures in the folders neatly. These folders were moved to the external hard drive along with the iPhoto library. However, when I tried to go to Find -> Original File/Modified File it said that the picture was not found. When in actuality, the folders of the original files had been moved to the external drive.
I understand one solution is to create a brand new iPhoto library with these pictures in my external hard drive. However, when I do that I loose all the photo albums which were created in the internal hard drive. Is there a way to move the iPhoto to external hard drive and still have the links work, and not lose my albums? This is the primary reason why experienced users recommend not using a referenced library. Simply, there is no way to move it without braking the path to the photos, and short of hacking the SQL database, there is no way to update the paths except for each photo, one by one.
I wanted to keep the pictures in the folders neatly.
Doing what you have done means more work, moe complexity and no extra power at all. It's uttterly unnecessary. iPhoto keeps the files quite neatly itself. But that simply doesn't matter as you never access the files via the FInder anyway.
Now you need to decide what you want to do.
If you return the Library and the Files to exactly where they were on your internal you can the recreate the Library - but only as a managed library - with iPhoto Library Manager
If that worries you from the point of view of accessing the files then have a read of this:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4491
If you purchase Aperture ($70 on the App Store) then you can use it's Relocate Masters command to move the originals and the Library to the external.
Or, if you feel like hacking an SQL database you can read how to do that here
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3216539?tstart=30
Not for the faint hearted, and be sure to back up first.
For my money: rebuild as a Managed Library. It's easier going forward, saves work, and means you never have to face this issue again.

TD
