Photos showing in Photo browser after editing

Each time I edit a photo and later when I bring up the Organizer I find that photo in the Photo Brower with no tags.
Did overlook a setting in the photo editor as I would like to have only photos that I want go get later from staging folder, camera, etc.
Please advise

John,
Please identify which version of PSE you have - 3 or 4?
>I would like to have only photos that I want go get later from staging folder, camera, etc.
Sorry but I do not understand your objective.
Do you not want to have the photos that you are editing in the Organizer?
You can't really edit the photo now and then go get it from the camera later - you would not have the correlation between the original photo file and its edit.
>Each time I edit a photo and later when I bring up the Organizer I find that photo in the Photo Brower with no tags.
Was this photo in he Organizer and did it have tags before you started to edit it? If it had tags before the edit, it should still have the same tags on the edited photo file.
If you never want the photo to be in the Organzier, you can uncheck Include in Organizer box in the Save As window of the Editor. But editing first and then bringing in to the Organizer later is not really a good workflow for most situations.

  • .Photos shows no photos after migration from iPhotos Library.

I migrated an iPhotos Library to Photos Library.  Both files are around 409GB.  If I open the file packages I can see the photos.  However Photos opens an shows nothing.  And iPhotos is now useless so I can not get to pictures!
And I have already tried the repair process a few times.
    Thanks

    Hi cwsummers,
I understand that your current iPhoto Library and the photos therein are not being shown in the new Photos app. Here is an article that will help you choose this library file for you to use:

  • No photos showing in Photos...Photo Stream, but they are showing elsewhere

There is some kind of bug that is preventing my iPad 2 from showing photos in Photos>Photo Stream. I know the photos are there because they are showing in Settings>Brightness & Wallpaper>Wallpaper>Photo Stream.
I have tried soft reset, hard reset, "Reset All Settings", log out/log in of iCloud, "Reset Photo Stream, etc. I have the latest iOS5 update and all the latest updates on my iMac/iPhoto.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

Has any one (Apple?) found a solution to this this problem yet? We have the same problem. We have two iPads, the original iPad and iPad 2. On the original iPad the Photo Stream folder in Photos displays all photos in Photo Stream. On the iPad 2 the Photo Stream folder is empty. However, on the iPad 2 all the photos in Photo Stream are available in every other app that uses photos such as iPhoto, Pages, PS Express, etc., etc. The only difference on the iPad 2 is that the Mail is set up for the iPad 2 user with a different Apple ID (the original iPad is set up for one Apple ID for iCloud and Mail).
This problem has been with us ever since Photo Stream came on line it is about time a fix was issued by Apple.

  • Why aren't edited photos showing up on PC after export from ipad? Syncios issue?

I stored thousands of vacation photos on my ipad (after downloading them from my camera). They were stored in the generic ipad Photos program as far as I know. I created a few Albums from the photos and edited them all on the ipad (cropped, enhanced, used effects, etc). and saved these new versions of the photos to the Albums. I deleted the original photo files (the pre-edited ones). All the edited photos are viewable under both the Photos and Albums tabs in Photos. I transfered all the photos to my PC using a USB cable and Picassa- I was unaware of Syncios. The transfer worked, but none of the edited photos made it over, only the original versions. I looked into it further, realized I should have used Syncios, and when I tried the transfer again, none of the photos were displayed in Syncios (edited or otherwise). So I have all of the photos from the first export, but not the edited versions, and Syncios isn't showing me any of the photos. All the edited photos are still on my ipad in Photos and Albums. Is there any way to get the edited versions onto my PC? I'm afraid I spent countless hours editing for nothing! Any help is greatly appreciated!

On windows you need to use adobe lightroom or adobe photoshop elements. Look at this URL http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4253

  • TS4253 Edited photos show original photo after import or in other apps

    Hello
I used my iPad mini while travelling on holidays for transferring photos from my camera to iPad (thanks to USB adaptor) then editing these pictures on the Photos App or iPhoto App. I also organized all my pictures on folders on the Photos App, and I now want to transfer them to my MacBookPro.
    I currently face 2 issues :
    - if I transfer these photos from iPad to MacBook with USB cable, all the pictures on iPhoto on my MacBook appear original and not edited! Even if y try to send by email/Dropbox etc a few edited pictures, they appear as original and not edited
    - I can transfer all the pictures together on iPhoto of my MacBook, but loose the organisation in folder that I have on the iPad.
So far I'm very upset because I've lost time editing and classifying my pict on the iPad...
    Any ideas ??

    Really frustrating I know.
I did find this link on Apple support,
    support.apple.com/en-us/HT203612
However, I'm still having an issue in spite of what it apparently informs:
"Displaying the edited photo requires OS X v10.9 or later and software that can read XMP. The following applications support XMP:
    iPhoto 9.5 or later
    iPhoto for iOS..."
I don't know what to do with this information because I am running OS X version beyond v10.9 and also later than iPhoto 9.5, yet iPhoto does not appear to read the XMP edits performed on my phone and keep them or give the option in iPhoto to keep edits or revert to the original.  Non destructive editing is great, but it'd be nice to access applied edits!

  • Shot photos in camera raw and after editing and saving as jpeg photo becomes extremely grainy

I click open in photoshop and choose my raw image from folder. I edit colors, clarity tones sharpness etc from the pop-up.Then click open image. It opens in photoshop. Photo looks great with no graininess. I save opened file as jpeg. I open jpeg file in a picture viewer program and it is extremely grainy. Help?

What JPG quality settings? What JPG colour format? Will another picture viewer show better? Are the display options in the picture viewer which might make it worse?

  • IPhone photo location and date data after editing

I'm using the DayOne app and have noticed that when I add photos that have been edited (using the Photos standard editing features) that the location and date information is lost. Is this normal or is this a bug? It seems to happen across all apps.

When you invoke the Editor from the Organizer, Organizer first does the equivalent of File > Write Keyword Tag to get all of the metadata from the Organizer (specifically, keyword tags) written into the file so it is available in the Editor.  This changes the metadata of the image file but not the actual image itself -- that's why you see the Date Modfied and Date Created changed (though in normal circumstances, the date taken doesn't change).
Note that other Organizer commands will change an image's metadata and thus change Date Modified/Created: Edit > Adjust Date And Time, changing star rating, changing the caption, changing the notes.

  • Selecting "All Photos" shows all photos in catalog except one. Why?

This is a quirk I've been noticing for a couple years now. It doesn't cause me any problems, so I don't worry about it much, but I am curious.
If in Library mode I click "All Photographs" in the upper right, then turn off all filters, then hit CMD-D so that no photos are selected, just above the filmstrip, in the lower left corner of the screen, I read:
"All Photographs [X-1] of X photos"
where X is the total number of photos in my Catalog. For example, right now, it reads "11090 of 11091 photos." If I were to import another 50 images, it would read "11040 of 11041 photos."
It's been this way for a while, like I said. And I guess it doesn't make much difference. I do sometimes wonder, though, if there's some mysterious ghost photo in there somewhere, that's not displaying for some reason. Any clue what's going on here? Thanks.

In the menu bar, try Photo>Stacking>Expand all Stacks, i.e. it's possible that you have one stack collapsed.

  • Edited photos in iOS show original photo after import or in iPhoto for MAC

If I edit a photo using the Photos app (or one the filter integrated now with Photos app) and then import that photo to my Mac (both using iphoto or import) or PC (both using import or with cloud photo integration), and sometimes if i try to view the photo using another iOS app, the photo display the original, unedited version.
the only way seems to duplicate the picture or to send it by mail.
but when you have hundreds of pics, that is not a solution any more..
and most of all i don't even want to import both the original and the edited version.
i found this issue in an apple support page: below the link..
but that page doesn't offer a solution one most of all it says that iphoto shouldn't have the issue...
    can you help me?
    thanks
iOS: Edited photos show original photo after import or in other apps

    i verified..
well, unfortunately these solutions are both not optimal..
    Shared Album:
    - you lose all the other informations (like location, date, etc..)
    - you lose quality
    - but at least is fast
    Sent by mail:
    - it keep full resolution
    - you still lose all other informations..
    - it is ok for a picture but not good for several..

  • My "edited" photos on my iPhone are not edited at all when I copy them to my computer.

I spent hours cropping pictures on my iPhone using it's built in editing feature and I "saved" every single one.  Plugged in my iPhone to my Ultrabook to copy them and NONE of them have retained any of the edits I made.  ALL the pictures I cropped are back to their original picture size. Why aren't the edits I made on the photos applied to them when I import them to my computer?  And why does my iPhone ask me to "save" after I make changes if it doesn't really save them?

The following has an explanation: iOS: Edited photos show original photo after import or in other apps

  • Photo stream showing no photos

  • Problem with photos in new Photos application

The new photos shows one photo in thumbnail but a different photo when I click or enlarge the thumbnail.  Don't want to lose either!Problem

    There is a solution!!
After installing iOS4.0.1 update on my 3G, I too had the black
blob in my camera roll. As posted in an earlier thread, here's
one way to resolve this problem. It worked for me!
Just email the photos that don't appear in the camera roll to myself,
delete the offending photos and then re-save them from the email.
A bit of a pain but it's a way around it. Good luck!

after editing in lightroom, i transferred the photo to final cut pro. However the photo that shows in final cut pro is the unedited version and a bit blurry. Any ideas?

IIs there an export function from Lightroom? Did you export? Does the exported file contain your edit?
THe hard drive file size doesn't matter. What matters is the image size, it's dimensions in pixels.
IN FCP press Cmd-J to see the project properties.

  • In iphoto, how do i save a photo after editing, in the same or higher file size, it's saves in a lower size

in iphoto, how do i save a photo after editing, in the same or higher file size, it's saves in a lower size

It's rather more complicated that this.
iPhoto is a lossless editor. You don't lose any quality on your shot in iPhoto.
The file size you see reported is the size of your iPhoto Preview: this is what gets used if you access the data via a media browser. It's a "good-enough-for-most-uses" version of the shot. Email it, upload to websites, use it in Presentation, Word processing file etc
If you want to set the quality yourself then Export the photo using the File -> Export command.
You can choose to export to Jpeg, Tiff or png. Tiff is lossless but the file sizes are up to 10 times larger. Jpeg allows you to choose different qualities: High, Medium or low. The difference is the amount of compression involved. High quality means very little compression. It's not unusual for photos exported at this setting to have a larger file size than the original.
Which setting you choose depends on the use you intend. Further editing, printing then high is important. Sending to Facebook? Well low will do just fine there as they're going to trash the file anyway.
But the key point: the file size only becomes an issue when you export.

  • After changing contact photo on iPhone, photo no longer shows up in outlook

I had my contact photos all setup on my iphone, and syncing correctly with iTunes and showing up correctly in Outlook 2007. The photos are stored on the iPhone, and set either by selecting the photo and doing "Assign to Contact", or in Contacts, Edit, Edit (the picture) and "Choose Photo". They would show up as a thumbnail in the Outlook 2007 Business Card view, and also in the detail when you double-click a contact. This part of the process hasn't changed.
What has changed is iOS4. Now, when I go in and change a contact's photo on the iPhone, it no longer shows up correctly in Outlook 2007. It shows a blank space when showing the Business card view, but shows the photo correctly in the detail if I double-click a contact. Even if I change it back to the photo that it was, it still won't show correctly in Outlook 2007 Business Card view.
Contacts whose photos I haven't changed since iOS4 show correctly in both places in Outlook 2007.
Anyone else seeing this or have a fix?

    Hi!
I'm having the same troubles and after searching for a while i found
    the following solution:
    In short (from http://gyoo.com/blog/?p=48)
    First, some figures:
    iPhone camera resolution: 1600×1200 (72dpi)
    iPhone screen resolution: 320×480 (160dpi)
iPhone contact picture display size: 64×64 (160dpi)
iPhone contact picture display size on call: 320×270 (160dpi)
    Outlook import resolution: 72×96 (72dpi)
    - On your PC, resize the image contact to 320×320 (160dpi),
knowing that 25 pixels on the top and bottom will be semi-transparent when on call.
    - On your PC, create a folder iPhone Photos\Contacts and move your contact photos inside Sync the photos into your iPhone with iTunes through the Photos tab.
    - Select the iPhone Photos folder as source.
    - Manually associated the photo to your contact on the iPhone
    (Edit ->Add Photo->Choose Existing Photo)
    - Sync back the iPhone with iTunes.
The photos will be associated automatically into Outlook with the good resolution this time.
    Regards
    Harry
