Photos synching across to ATV in the wrong orientation

The orientation of all of my photos are corrected and on my Powerbook. However, once synched to ATV and viewed in Slideshow, some of the photos appear in the wrong orientation (i.e. sideways on). There doesn't appear to be any ATV setting to adjust orientation. Is anyonbe else experiencing this and has anyone got any suggestions or better still, a solution?

Hi, I have already reported this problem as a bug using Apple's bug/enhancement request website.
I started experiancing this problem in 2.4 and thru 3.0 and now 3.0.1.
The photos show correctly as thumbnails as well as when displayed as the screen saver when listening to music.
They only display incorrectly when viewed as a slideshow so it is clearly a AppleTV software problem.
I certainly look forward to it being fixed as it makes the Apple not suitable to show pics to friends and families.
Thanks, Paul

  • Thumbnails are often the wrong orientation and distorted. What is causing this?

Thumbnails are often the wrong orientation and distorted. When I select in viewer they are normal again.

As if only the corrected layer would have remained on the photos.
So the geometry of the pictures is correct - they are not skewed or something? Only the colors and intensities are wrong?
. Only in printing when it is converted to PDF file some photos are unrecognizable.
Is it the printed pdf or the pdf viewed on the screen? If it is the printed copy you need to fix your print settings.
Does Aperture give a warning, that the high resolution images are not available?
We had some cases of books not being able to be printed, and that was due to a broken reference to the original files. Only the book could not access the originals, all other parts of Aperture could. To check for this, try to add one more adjustment to one of the images in question. Is it possible? Are the edits reflected correctly in the pdf of the book?
We were shooting with 3 cameras, Lumix5 shooting RAW, Cannon 100 shooting JPEG and SONY alfa850 shooting RAW.
Have you tried to reprocess the raw of the edited images? (Photos > Reprocess Raw)
Also try, to remove one of the images from the book and to add it again. That usually helps, if Aperture has lost the connection to the originals used in the book.
If you no have done so already, repair (and if necessary rebuild) the Aperture library.

  • Why does my first page print great and all of the rest are the wrong orientation?

When I am viewing my PDFs in Adobe Reader, they look great. When I print them, the first page is correct and all of the rest are the wrong orientation.
    Please help!

    Hi there ashp,
Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
    Best of Luck!

  • HT4236 Synced photos are showned in the wrong orientation

I am using iTunes 11.1.3 (8) and want it to sync Photos in iPhoto 9.5.1 (902.17), which were taken with my iPhone, to my iPad. On my iPhone and in iPhoto, all pictures are showned in the correct orientation. Not so on my iPad, there they are partly turned upside down or turned 90°. Please tell me what I can do to be able to watch the photos (which I shoot with my iPhone) on my iPad in the correct orientation. Thanks a lot.

The picture now looks fine in iPhoto (thumbnail is still wrong)
    Then try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window.
2 - Run Option #2, Rebuild Thumbails.  It might take more than one try.

  • When trying to send a photo from iPhotos, I accidentally entered the wrong password.  It tells me that it doesn't recognize my password, but doesn't enable me to re-submit the correct one.  What should I do?

I'm trying to send a photo from iphoto - but apparently I entered the wrong password, and now it does not give me the opportunity to resubmit my correct password - it only tells me that mine was wrong and will allow me to cancel but not correct.  I tried to cancel and start over but it still doe not let me re-enter my password.  Is there some "command" that will help me?

    iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Accounts ->
Delete and recreate your email settings.

  • IPhone 4s Is Sending My Photos In The Wrong Orientation?

O.K. I take the photo in landscape mode on the iPhone 4s.
It then saves to my camera roll.  I email it to a few friends.
Most of them get the photos upside down?
I have no idea that I had to take the photos with a certain camera
orientation in order for the images to be able to send in the proper orientation.
Is this another iOS 5 bug?  I upgraded from the 3GS and this was not an issue.

Return your phone for a refund, because you did NOT purchase an officially unlocked iPhone 4S. There are no officially unlocked iPhone 4S's being sold, in the US, anywhere but Apple's online store. If you didn't get your phone through Apple's online store in the US, it is NOT officially unlocked.

  • Some photos are rotated within the wrong orientation

Hello fellow mac users, I am having a strange issue and would like your help.
Following a corruption of my iPhoto database, I used a third party software to repair the database. I also did additional things like repair thumbnails, etc... I managed to repair the library but I am now having a strange issue.
Portrait photos are rotated within the portrait frame. To repair, I need to swap the resolution in Photoshop:
    1. What I see in iPhoto.
    2. Rotated photo in iPhoto. This is obsviously distorted.
    3. Original photo after inverting resolution in photoshop...
Is there a conveninent way to perform a batch repair without having to open every photo one by one in photoshop??? I hame probably more than 500 photos like that!!!
    Thanks in advance!

  • My photo stream web page is in the wrong order

I've been using the photo stream to share photos with family via the web link. Until today, it was working perfectly. Today, the order of the photos suddenly rearranged themselves with no action on my end. I haven't uploaded any photos in several days. The order of the photos is correct on my phone, which is even more confusing.

Is there anything else I could try.
Not sure. I would likely test an x264 export of the image sequence from QT 7 Pro or MPEG Streamclip (or from HandBrake if your system is not configured with the x264 codec) and see if the result was any better. This is not a problem I run into very often and, even then, the files were sent to me with no real indication of how they were originally encoded.
Or do you know how I can analise the exported file?
Not really... but it would be nice to have a tool which indicated the current frame type and listed pointers to frames/stacks of frames used for rendering reference.

  • Photos print in the wrong orientation

I have just composed a 40 page book for printing at Apple.
Everything looks fine on the display. However, when I do print out on my laser printer or to PDF, some photos are disoriented. Landscape photos show vertically and vice-versa.
Presumably I could turn them by 90 degrees in iPhoto and then add them to the book, but how will I then know what the end result will look like when printed?
    Any clues please?

    Thanks LarryHN and MadisonP,
Both tips were useful and I have now solved it in this way. By double right-clicking on any photo in the composed book it will enlarge for editing. At that stage the photo showed in the inverted or disoriented manner. I then turned it 90 or 180 degrees to correct and then closed it by clicking done. It still looked correct in the book, but this time it also looked correct in the Preview, so presumably it will print correctly.
How some photos came to be like this I don't know, but it's pointless trying to analyse.
    Thanks again.

  • Deleting Photos in slide show modus trashes the wrong photos

In my Library are 13500 photos. Some good, many not so good. I find it comfortable to delete some of them by browsing a slide show, but when looking into the trash I was very surprised that I found photos that I for sure not deleted even not viewed...
one example: let´s say I want to delete photo "01.jpg" and photo "girl45-1" (it depends not on the names).... and I delete them by pressing the "delete-key" on the keyboard...
In the trash bin in iPhoto I found: photo "01.jpg and "car.jpg" (just an example)
This behavior is identical on both Macs.

The only way to remove Scene Menu button from Disc Menus is to physically remove it from the template by editing it (They're PSD files) in Photoshop Elements.
As for photos, DO NOT use photos from that 7.2 megapixel camera at full resolution, niagara. It's a sure recipe for disaster. RAther, per the FAQs at the top of this forum, rez those photos all down to no larger than 1000x750 pixels in size.

That done, you can get your photos to fill your screen one of two ways:
    a) Leave the Default to Frame Size option checked in your preferences. The only case in which this won't work is if you're using 4:3 photos in a 16:9 widescreen project.
    b) If this is the case, go to Edit/Preferences and uncheck Default to Frame Size BEFORE you import that photos into your project. (It won't work if you do it after.) Then, after placing each photo on your timeline, right-click on each, select Show Properties and, in Properties, open Motion and set Scale to 85%. Note that, because your photos and the widescreen have different aspect ratios, you will lose some of the vertical off the tops and bottoms of your photos.
There are many more ways to do it -- but it all depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

  • Is there anything that you can do to fix a pdf that was created with the wrong orientation?

Someone sent me 40-page pdf created from a document with landscape orientation that was output with portrait orientation. The pages are clipped off on the right and left. There is no way that I can see that you can change the orientation in Acrobat Pro and if it is converted into a Word document you can see most of the text, but there is still some missing, especially where there are tables. I don't have access to the original document. I was just curious if there was a way around this?

Thanks, that is what I figured. Just thought I would ask. Some of the text that was clipped off did appear when the pdf was converted into a word file, but not all of it.

  • Is there any way to have OS 10.5.8 mail leave a photo as attachment in the same orientation as it is in Preview?

Is there any way to have OS 10.5.8 mail leave an attached photo in the same orientation as it is in Preview?

First, to answer the question, I took the photo with a Canon camera but did not choose to use the Canon software to download the photo to my desktop.  I just did a select and drag to a new folder on my desktop from the sd card.  Canon has some software called Imagebrowser that may be used for this, but I took the simpler route.
I have not come across what you called the EXIF orientation before and have no idea how to access it.  What software is needed to determine the EXIF orientation?  Sorry I'm so far behind on this.  I usually used Photoshop and iPhoto to enhance photos.
By the way, I imported the photo into iPhoto then attached it to the email and the orientation didn't change.  It was the same in the attachment in Mail as it was in iPhoto.  I just don't want to have to go through that extra step every time I attach a photo.
Thanks for your help so far.  How do I get the EXIF orientation?

  • Photostream showing the wrong thumbnails

Every time I put a photo from my iPad mini to photostream, it shows the wrong thumbnail. I've looked for a solution and have come up empty handed. Is there a solution for this? When I click on the picture it shows the correct picture, it's just the thumbnail that's showing the wrong picture.

The thumbnails are only wrong on the shared photostream. I tried sharing a photo, unedited, and it was again the wrong thumbnail. I edited that picture, shared it again, and it's still the wrong thumbnail image. When my husband puts the same photo on photostream from his iPhone 4 it does NOT do this, leading me to believe there's something wrong with my ipad or on my end of photostream. Note that this only happens when I share photos...everyone else's streams that I subscribe to have correct thumbnails, and like I said, when my husband posts a photo, it shows up as the correct thumbnail.

  • Printing to PDF: prints the wrong page size and orientation

I am trying to print a simple 60 page document composed of 8 x 11 inch pages to a pdf. I want the pdf in spreads, so that 2 8x11 inch pages in portrait orientation will be next to each other as a spread. Each time I try to print, the pdf comes out in the wrong orientation or the wrong size or both. When I export it to a pdf, it is the right orientation and page size, but the file size is way too large. So how do I fix this annoying problem? I have tried adjusting the print setup but it still won't print right. This seems like a simple operation, but indesign has been giving me trouble with this for weeks. I should mention I'm using CC. Thank you.

Go to the AdminUI ( http://<servername>:<port>/adminui ), and to Services, PDF Generator.  Pick File Type Settings, and click on the Standard entry.  If you pop open the HTML to PDF section, you can edit the size, margins, orientation, headings and footers, site recursion, and pdf initial view settings.  <br /><br />Save your settings as a new Filetype (you can make as many as you want), and pass the name the filetype as the second parameter to the call to the htmlToPDF method on the web service client.<br /><br />http://livedocs.adobe.com/livecycle/es/sdkHelp/programmer/javadoc/com/adobe/livecycle/g eneratepdf/client/GeneratePdfServiceClient.html<br /><br />I am unfamiliar with interacting directly with the web services via SOAP, so if you are not using the pre-built GeneratePdfServiceClient supplied by Adobe and this information does not solve your issue you will need to see if anybody else can help.  I imagine that there is a similar String parameter where you place the Filetype name defined in the AdminUI.<br /><br />(edit: I should mention, the GeneratePdf service is a part of PDF Generator ES, not Output ES, so you may have better luck in the general Livecycle ES forum)

  • Wrong orientation of text selection cursor

I've OCR'ed a PDF document with page orienation "portrait" using Acrobat Pro XI with setting "exact image".
Unfortunately the text selection cursor has the wrong orientation, its orientation is "horizontal" but should be "vertical" as the text is written from left to right (German) in the document.
Any ideas how to change the cursor orientation?
    Thanks.

I have got the same problem. Text ocr-ed with with setting "exact image", too - don't know if that matters. The problem might be indepedent from that.
The proble mist a real pain. It heavily disturbes text selection an marking.
    Unfortunately I don't have a solution.
