Photos turn red??!!

I went to scan some images on a windows computer. I wrote them to a cd, and then went home. The photos were saved in .psd from photoshop. When i got home i tried to use the photos in a movie, one photo worked. Then all the photos i tried to use turned red as if i had used a red filer, but I hadn't. I converted the files to .jpg and still no change.
Any help would very much appreciated

Welcome to iMovie Discussions.
It's always best to browse (..'Search'..) through old questions and answers first, as there's the - usually very great - chance that someone else's had a similar problem, and the answer's already been given.
Anyway, this sounded familiar, so here's Karl's reply in this earlier thread.. (Just click on that coloured link..)
(..And here's another similar question - and answer..)
[I also seem to remember that something can go wrong with colours after (during?) applying a title, or having a solid-colour "slug" between clips, and that then that colour persists ..but perhaps that's just a problem with titles. If you haven't applied any over your photos, then that's just a ..erm.. 'red herring'..]

  • Scanned b/w photos turning red in iphoto

I scanned in some old b/w photos into iphoto. They appear to be fine, but if I make any changes to them, such as cropping them, the photo turns red. How can I stop this? Thanks

IPhoto does not support gray scale. You must use RGB (sRGB) is recommended
Rescan with a color profile or export and change to sRGB and import

  • Photos turning red with Ken Burns

When I apply Ken Burns effect, the photos turn red. Like a transparent layer of red overlay on top of the photo.
any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
I formatted them in a jpg format.

I know this has never happened to anyone other than me.

I learned what I was doing wrong, and now realize what a marvelouse piece of software iMovie and iDVD really are.

  • All my raw photos turn red.

Yesterday, all my raw photos turn red, first in aperture and then also in the preview.
The first photo was converted whith Nikon software (View NX2) the second whith preview, I get the same problem whith Aperture and iPhoto.
This photo is from 2011 and it was fine until yesterday.

The 4.08 Raw Camera bundle update that was released a few days ago is causing problems for Nikon users. Until Apple issues an update to fix this roll back to 4.07
Search here for many posts describing this and how to roll back.

  • Why do my scanned photos turn red when I try to edit them in IPhoto?

Why do my scanned photos turn red when I try to edit them in IPhoto?

Assuming these are Black and white, iPhoto still needs an RGB colorspace assigned, it can't work with images that are in B&W colorspace.
Scan in color and de-saturate in iPhoto, if required.

  • Black and white photos turning red

I've scanned some black and white negatives and have the jpegs in my iPhoto libray. After I've edited my photos and view them, they turn red. In the thumbnail they are OK, but when I view them in a full size picture they are red. How can I get them to display in the normal B&W?

Make sure they have an RGB colour profile. iPhoto supports RGB - it's what camera's shoot in.

  • I am scanning black/white photos and making a few adjustments - retouching and cropping.  The photos then turn red.  Why?

I am scanning black/white photos and making a few adjustments - retouching and cropping.  Some (only some) of the photos turn red. Why and what do I do to correct this problem?

This is because we've scanned the photo's using grey scale.
Through further searching I found a solution thanks to Terence.  You can convert your already scanned photos to the required sRGB format by doing the following:
Open Automator.  Select your photo's that need converting from the file and drop into Automator.
You can create an Automtor workflow to assign an sRGB profile to images.
The variable you want is 'Apply ColorSync Profile' to images and then select sRGB from the drop down.
    Hope this helps!

  • Why are my scanned images turning red when put in a slideshow or iMovie?

Why are my photos turning red when put in a slideshow?

Can you start a new document and then load one of the duotones known to be good in the working file and have it correct? If so, try one of the duotones known to be bad in the working document in the new file. Does it work?
If no to either suggestion, can you share one of the images known to be good and one known to be bad? ZIP 'em up and upload to dropbox and plop a link here. Or, to keep the file sizes down, you can quickly make a new set and provide those.
As well, the ID version and OS info would probably be helpful.
    Take care, Mike

Irregardless of the Premiere Elements version...
I do not believe you are doing anything wrong. I have not found it possible to copy a Timeline clip to which Time Remapping has been applied and use Paste Effects and Adjustments to other selected clips on the Timeline to achieve the same fast or slow motion for more than one clip at a time. For one thing the duration of the Time Remapped clip is different than those that have not gone through Time Remapping.
And, you cannot select more than 1 clip at a time to be taken into the Time Remapping workspace.
Also, special considerations need to exist for Pan and Zoom Tool for its pan and zoom effect applied to more than one photo at a time.

I will think about this some more. But, at this moment, it appear to be it is what it is.

  • Internet LED turns Red at a certain time of the day

I have a customer who last year would lose there internet connection like after 4:30pm each day. I was over there a couple days ago and saw it in action. I noticed that on the Actiontec GT704WG modem all the lights would start blinking and then the Internet LED would turn red with all other still green and then it would connect again for a minute and keep going through that cycle. Already did the reset of modem etc. Even happens when the Cat 5 cable is not plugged in. Could this be a power issue with the modem? Also, the ipconfig settings are fine when this is happening... Anyone have any ideas what the issue is? Thank You

All of the lights blinking? Would this include the power lights or only the Ethernet and Wireless lights? If it's the lather, it sounds like the computer searching for a way to the Internet using broadcast packets. The DSL light if it's blinking would indicate a loss of sync, and this can turn the Internet light red. Anyhow, if you can clear up what exactly was blinking, we can continue.

  • I never had this problem before but all of a sudden when I go to "edit" a photo the photo turns black.  All the editing functions appear but I cannot see any picture.  When I hit "done" the photo reappears. Why can I no longer see my photo for editing pu

For years I have had no problems editing photos.  However, for some reason when I go to "edit" my photo the photo turns BLACK/BLANK.  The editing functions appear but I cannot see the photo.  When I select "done" the photo reappears.  Why is the photo disappearing for editing?  Have I hit a command accidentally that is causing this?  Really appreciate someone's assistance.

    Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run  Option #1, Repair Permissions, followed by Option #4, Rebuild Database, if needed.

  • Graphics turning Red or Black after a while for no apparent reason?

For some reason every time I import graphics to the library they are fine. But when I put them on the stage (there's about 30 of them in each of different keyframes) they seem to be replaced by black or red rectangles. In the library, they are fine, and when I export them as a .MOV they are sometimes fine. If I export them as an .AVI, however, they remain red and black. It's not all of the graphics, but the longer that I am in Flash, the more of them turn red.
I can't tell if it's one corrupt file or a corrupt installation, but it's been on three computers: a terrible laptop with Windows 7, a Mac, and a modern desktop with Windows 8.
Can anyone fill me in on what might be the cause or possible solutions? (or ways to diagnose it?)

My best guess is that you're somehow bumping up against a size limit like this Size limits | SWF, bitmap files | Flash Player 10. I know you're not using the Flash Player, but it's possible that since that limit is known there are limitations in the IDE that are related to it. Have you tried splitting your images into smaller pieces and combining several in the same Graphic symbol?

  • Status bar turned red

While I was using my iPad, the status bar at the top (the black bar all the way at the top with the clock) suddenly turned red for a very brief moment.  Out of the corner of my eye, I saw some words there.  But when I shifted my focus to read what was there, the words disappeared and the bar turned back to it's normal black.  So I have no idea what this was all about; it was so quick.  But it was obviously a warning of some sort.
Anybody know what this could have been?

I found it.  It says "Garage Band Recording.". Strange, considering it pops up after quitting the app.
